  1. Greece: Flames, fireworks and violence erupt at Souda refugee camp

Fireworks exploded around the grounds of the Souda refugee camp near Chios, Wednesday, as refugees reportedly faced off against far-right groups who had converged at the site. The altercation ended with parts of the camp reportedly being set on fire, the hospitalisation of at least four refugees, and the arrest of some 50 people, including two camp volunteers.

  3. ‘Italy is for ITALIANS’ Angry villagers take to streets in protest at influx of migrants (express, Nov 17, 2016)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/733159/italian-villagers-protest-against-housing-migrants

“HUNDREDS of protestors took to the streets to vent their anger in the wake of plans to house more than 100 migrants in a small Italian town.

About 700 people, armed with banners and flags, marched in Soave, Italy, against the move as thousands of migrants arrive in the country after being rescued at sea.

Small towns like Soave have largely avoided housing migrants so far but are now having to address the issue after record numbers of people arrived in the country.

A record 27,500 migrants arrived in October alone, bringing the total to almost 160,000 people this year.

The demonstration saw hundreds marching under torchlight in the town, home to 7,000 people, in the province of Verona.

Protesters were seen carrying banners emblazoned “Verona for Veronese” and reportedly chanting “Italy for Italians”.

The latest show of opposition comes after mafia bosses allegedly “declared war” on migrants after a man was shot in the head as a deadly turf war broke out with African crime gangs in Palermo earlier this year.

The mayor of Palermo, Leoluca Orlando said at the time: “Palermo is no longer an Italian town. It is no longer European. You can walk in the city and feel like you’re in Istanbul or Beirut.

“The Mafia has not understood that the city has changed. We are now a city of immigrants, and the Mafia bosses no longer sit in the mayor’s chair.

“Palermo is a Middle Eastern town in Europe. It is a mosaic city and we are happy about that.”

However, the growing discontent comes as Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, who has threatened to veto the EU’s budget, continues to battle with eurocrats over their lack of action over the migrant crisis in Italy.”

  4. ‘We will multiply our numbers’ Muslim migrants aim to outbreed Christians, translator says (express, Nov 17, 2016)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/733201/muslim-migrants-christian-Germany-translator-bavaria

“A TRANSLATOR living in Germany has revealed that Muslim migrants believe the country “should be Islamised”, according to a new report.

After working in migrant centres Germany for several years, the translator claims a number of the Muslim migrants she has spoken to have revealed a hatred for Christians and are determined to destroy the religion.

The 39-year-old translator revealed that despite her Christian beliefs she is often presumed to be Muslim and – as a result – Muslim migrants often confide in her and tell her about their dislike towards Christians.

She said: “Christians are oppressed, intimidated and harassed by Muslim refugees. This is normal.

“Some women told me, ‘We will multiply our numbers. We must have more children than the Christians because it’s the only way we can destroy them here’.”

The translator, who arrived in Germany in 1991 as a refugee from Eritrea, said she began volunteering in asylum centres after wanting to give something back following the “open-minded reception and support” she received on arriving in the country.

Clashes between Christian and Muslim asylum seekers have been on the rise in recent years.

A report released last month claimed that 743 Christians have been the victims of attacks in Germany’s asylum system since May, with 416 reported to have suffered physical abuse.

Of the 743 victims, 44 said they had been sexually assaulted and more than 300 received death threats.

In a shocking revelation, the perpetrators in 205 of the cases were employed as guards at asylum homes – flouting their duty to protect the migrants in their care.

The translator continued: “Pure hatred against non-believers is preached, and children are brought here from an early age here in Germany.

“It’s very similar in asylum housing, where Muslim boys refuse to play with Christians.

When she has tried to encourage Muslim children to play with their Christian counterparts, she said typical responses include: “I don’t play with Christians. My parents hate them too.”

Religious tension has been rife in Germany in recent months.

In October, an appalled father claimed his daughter had been forced to chant “Allah Akhbar” in a Bavarian primary school class.”

  6. Kazakh Authorities to Pay Citizens for Reporting Terror-Related Information (sputniknews, Nov 17, 2016)
    https://sputniknews.com/asia/201611171047526414-kazakhstan-terrorism-information-reward/

“Those who report information about a planned terrorist attacks will receive a reward standing at some $4,650-$6,200.

ALMATY (Sputnik) — The government of Kazakhstan adopted a regulation on monetary payments to the citizens, reporting information that could help prevent a terrorist attack.

“The territorial authority has to notify the citizen who reported information about a planned terrorist attack that he could receive a reward for this within three working days,” the decree said, as quoted by the Kazpravda newspaper reported on Thursday.

According to the paper, individuals who report information that would help prevent or suppress a terror attack would be paid a cash award in the amount from 750 to 1,000 monthly calculation indexes (MCI) by the authorized body. With the current MCI level of 2,121 tenge ($6.2), the payment would be about $4,650-$6,200.

The regulation “on approval of rules of establishment and payment of fees for information which helped to prevent or suppress an act of terrorism” was elaborated by the National Security Committee of the Republic of Kazakhstan and would enter into force on January 1, 2017.”

  7. Bill would place restrictions on Muslim burqas, veils in Georgia

Women would be barred from wearing burqas and veils while posing for photos on Georgia driver’s licenses under legislation filed for the upcoming session of the General Assembly.

House Bill 3, filed by state Rep. Jason Spencer, R-Woodbine, would also subject female Muslim garb to the state’s anti-masking statute — which originally was aimed at the Ku Klux Klan.

The need for the changes are unclear. Bert Brantley, the commissioner of the state Department of Driver Services, said wearing burqas in state license photographs is already prohibited.

“We have agency rules against any kind of facial covering,” Brantley told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “We have to be able to see from below the chin to above the eyebrows.”

    http://www.myajc.com/news/news/state-regional-govt-politics/bill-would-place-restrictions-on-muslim-burqas-vei/ns88H/

    • House Bill 3, filed by state Rep. Jason Spencer, R-Woodbine, would also subject female Muslim garb to the state’s anti-masking statute — which originally was aimed at the Ku Klux Klan.

As always. Wherever Islam rears its ugly little microencephalitic head, the irony is thick enough to spread on toast.

Laws intended to curtail the activities of violent, cross-burning, ultra-racist, Jew-hating reactionaries are somehow (magically) applicable to violent, church-burning, ultra-racist, Jew-hating Islamists. Quelle surprise!!!

A more important question emerges with respect to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anti-mask_laws that are also intended to target bank robbers, muggers, hooligans, and various other sundry types of thugs.

Britain’s own inability abject refusal to outlaw burqas has seen wanted terrorists waltz undetected through international airport passport controls. Similarly, jewel thieves have robbed stores, carting off millions of pounds worth of loot whilst attired in traditional Muslim body bags.

None of which addresses the burqa as a blatant political statement specifically intended to intimidate non-Muslims and display obvious contempt for the norms of Western society. Don’t even get me started about burqa-clad Muslimas operating automobiles with such a severely restricted field of vision. That alone should be an instant (and heavily penalized) violation of the motor vehicle code.

I can only suppose that it will require however many Western politicians getting assassinated by burqa-wearing killers before they finally realize that permitting such a degree of total concealment in otherwise open societies just maaaaaybe might represent a really, really, really BAD IDEA™.

Until then, let’s please hope that this tomfoolery is brought home (in the roughest possible terms) to all of those idiot politicians who allow anyone wearing a burqa within eyesight.

  8. Europe at risk of collapse; France, Germany must lead – French PM

BERLIN (Reuters) – The European Union is in danger of breaking apart unless France and Germany, in particular, work harder to stimulate growth and employment and heed citizens’ concerns, French Prime Minister Manuel Valls said in the German capital on Thursday.

Valls said the two countries, for decades the axis around which the EU revolved, had to help refocus the bloc to tackle an immigration crisis, a lack of solidarity between member states, Britain’s looming exit, and terrorism.

“Europe is in danger of falling apart,” Valls said at an event organized by the Sueddeutsche Zeitung newspaper. “So Germany and France have a huge responsibility.”

He said France must continue to open up its economy, not least by cutting corporate taxation, while Germany and the EU as a whole must increase investment that would stimulate growth and job creation, as well as boosting defense.

As Britain seeks to negotiate its post-Brexit relationship with the EU, hoping to restrict immigration from the EU while maintaining as much access as possible to the EU single market, Valls said it must be prevented from cherry-picking.

  9. Should Los Angeles County decide our presidential elections for us?
    By J.E. Dyer November 17, 2016

A lot has been written in the last week about the Electoral College, which will vote on 19 December to formally elect the next president of the United States.

There is no doubt that, by due process of law, as the Constitution prescribes it and as we have practiced it in every election since our founding, Donald Trump has the votes in the Electoral College to win the presidency.

Assuming he wins the 19 December vote, he will be the fourth president in our history to win the Electoral College vote without winning the popular vote.

I won’t spend a lot of time here on why the Framers of the Constitution endowed us with the Electoral College. The most important reason was to bolster federalism; that is, balance the power of the states with that of the federal government.

The Electoral College is a mechanism, and balancing the power is a means to an end. The end itself is protecting minorities against majorities. A majority of 50.1% is not necessarily very much to have to get. 50.1% can often be achieved on a temporary basis.

But if democracy operates unfettered, a minority of 49.9% is still a minority. If everything is decided by majority vote, that can be a lot of people left unprotected. A lot of things voters will later regret can be implemented. And good luck to minorities of 35%, or 25%, or 15%.

  10. The Electoral College did exactly what it was meant to do: protect the minority against the majority
By Onan Coca November 15, 2016

Over the last week you’ve probably noticed the outpouring of grief on social media and handwringing over the Electoral College. Many angry liberals, including Barack Obama’s first attorney general, Eric Holder, have argued that the time has come to unfetter our democracy and rid ourselves of the Electoral College, which supposedly robs the people of their vote. It’s a simple argument to make because it relies on the ignorance of the hearer: “More people voted for Clinton than Trump, but Trump will be president. Ergo, it’s not democratic!”

Here’s the problem. We aren’t a democracy, we are a democratic republic. Also, our nation is built on certain values, and the Electoral College speaks to one and preserves one in particular – the rights of the minority.

See, the Bill of Rights exists as a check against the majority to ensure the rights of the minority. This is why we have the First Amendment guaranteeing freedom of speech, even if the majority doesn’t like our speech. It protects our freedom of religion, even if the majority doesn’t like our religion. It protects the press, even if the majority doesn’t like the news being printed. The Second Amendment protects our right to self-defense and self-governance, even if the majority doesn’t want us to have that ability. And on and on and on with each amendment. The Constitution was designed to defend the minorities in our nation against the unchecked power of the majority.

    • Well put. Funny, isn’t it, how suddenly all the lefties can see no point to the Electoral College concept. Honestly! Those people have some kind of contagious brain disease. Or is it that they’re going into a panic at the prospect of the swamp being drained and all their misdeeds being exposed?

  15. the independent- Donald Trump team ‘discussing plans for Muslim registration system’

Immigration hardliner says plans underway for programme to force Muslims register on database

Donald Trump’s policy advisers are discussing plans to establish a registry for Muslim immigrants in the US, a man believed to be a key member of the President-elect’s transition team has revealed.

Kris Kobach, the secretary of state for Kansas, said the President-elect’s advisers were looking at how to implement a proposal suggested by the billionaire businessman that would force immigrants from Muslim countries to register on a database.

Mr Kobach, who helped devise tough immigration laws in a number of US states and claims to have participated in regular conference calls with Mr Trump’s immigration advisers, also said the Trump administration could push ahead rapidly on construction of a US-Mexico border wall without seeking immediate congressional approval.

The hardline immigration official, whose role has not been confirmed by the President-elect’s transition team but who is thought to be a favourite for the role of Attorney General, said the immigration group had discussed drafting executive orders for the President-elect’s review “so that Trump and the Department of Homeland Security hit the ground running”.

The Muslim registration scheme, which would reportedly see Muslims given a form of identification that notes their religion, reflects policies Mr Trump put forward during his campaign to introduce “extreme vetting” of Muslims through tougher security measures.

Such a programme would echo a registration system created under Mr Bush’s presidency, which Mr Kobach also helped design, and which required thousands of Arab and Muslim visitors and temporary US residents to register with the state, but was abandoned in 2011 after it was criticised for unfairly targeting immigrants from Muslim-majority nations.

Created in 2002 following the 9/11 attacks, the National Security Entry-Exit Registration System (NSEER) required Muslims from countries where extremist organisations were active to provide information about themselves, undergo interviews with officials and periodically notify the government of their whereabouts.

The registration programme, which focused on visitors and non-citizen men over the age of 16 from more than 24 designated countries, caused widespread controversy and was deemed redundant in 2011, following complaints from civil libertarians.

In the interview, Mr Kobach said immigration advisers were also looking at how the Homeland Security Department could move rapidly on Mr Trump’s plans to build a wall between the US and Mexico without approval from Congress, acknowledging that “future fiscal years will require additional appropriations”.

Mr Trump presented a hardline stance on Muslims in the US during his election campaign, making a call to temporarily ban all Muslims from entering the country and proposing the introduction of special identity cards for American Muslims during a debate over Syrian refugees entering the country.

While Mr Trump appeared to have pulled back on the anti-Muslim rhetoric immediately after he was elected, he has since indicated he still plans to follow through on his plans.

In an interview on Sunday Mr Trump told CBS’s 60 Minutes show he would deport two to three million undocumented immigrants “immediately” upon taking office, and confirmed he still planned to “build a wall”, although he added that some parts of the barrier would in fact be a fence.

The President-elect is also reportedly considering appointing as his deputy security advisor the vice-president of a think-tank that has said Muslims are infiltrating the American government.

Mr Kobach reportedly said in the interview that he believed that illegal immigrants in some cases should be deported before a conviction if they have been charged with a violent crime, echoing Mr Trump’s recent pledge to remove immigrants with criminal records who are in the country illegally.

The immigration hardliner also said the President-elect’s immigration advisers had discussed ways of overturning President Barack Obama’s 2012 executive action that has granted temporary deportation relief and work permits to more than 700,000 undocumented people who came to the US as children of illegal immigrants

  18. Ottawa police investigate 2nd instance of anti-semitic vandalism in 3 days

Ottawa awoke Thursday morning to yet another burst of anti-Semitic hate, when a Jewish congregation south of downtown became the city’s latest target for vandals.

Bright red swastikas, racist slurs and the message “save the white race” were painted on the walls and property of the Machzikei Hadas synagogue sometime overnight.

“When I walked in this morning and saw it — I have to express that this is much more than graffiti vandalism,” said Rabbi Idan Scher. “The images and words that were put on our walls are representative of the systematic annihilation of our people. And that, of course, was incredibly disturbing.”

Ottawa Police said they arrived on the scene, in the Alta Vista neighbourhood south of downtown Ottawa, around 7 a.m. Thursday.

“We opened a report and the investigation is ongoing,” said police spokesman Cst. Marc Soucy.

This is the second such incident in Ottawa this week, though police can’t say whether the two are connected.

On Tuesday morning a rabbi in the Glebe neighbourhood awoke to find a bright red swastika and racist slur spray painted on her front door.

“There’s no information to say [the two incidents are] connected yet,” Soucy said on Thursday morning. “But these are things the investigators will look into.”

Talking to Global News Thursday morning, Rabbi Scher said he can’t explain what could evoke such behaviour.

“All I really know is that in order to be able to write something like this, you have to have a despicable, cowardly hatred inside of you,” he said.

Security cameras are installed around the synagogue’s property, but there is little usable footage because the vandals covered the lenses with paint, Scher said.

“We got a quick glimpse and then they were spray painted,” he said. “Just judging from the height of the swastikas and the like, I don’t think this was the work of hooligan kids … There was an intention. This was a real expression of hatred. Not just vandalism or people being a bit rowdy.”

The Ottawa Citizen reported another synagogue was the target of similar vandalsim last weekend, but cleaned it up quickly and chose to not publicize the incident.

Police said they are not investigating that reported incident at Kehillat Beth Israel.

  19. Kosovo Arrests 19 Suspects in ISIS Plot to Attack Israeli Soccer Team

Kosovo police announced on Thursday the arrest of 19 suspects for their involvement in an Islamic State plot to attack the Israeli national soccer team, Reuters reported.

Albanian security forces revealed last week that they had thwarted an attack on a World Cup qualifying match between Israel and Albania on November 12. The terror threat prompted officials to move the site of the game from the city of Shkodër to Elbasan, which is closer to Albania’s capital. Security was tripled for the Israeli team, which ultimately defeated Albania 3 – 0.

Kosovar authorities said that the suspects, who were arrested over the past ten days, reported to the self-described “commander of Albanians in Syria and Iraq,” Lavdrim Muhaxheri. Weapons, explosives, electronic tools, and a drone were retrieved from the terror cell.

The plot included a series of synchronized “terrorist attacks in Kosovo and also [an attack] against the Israeli football team and their fans during the Albania-Israel match,” Kosovo police told Reuters. Six suspects were also detained in both Albania and Macedonia.

Most of Kosovo’s ethnic Albanian majority is Muslim and largely secular. The nation, which unilaterally declared independence in 2008, has however struggled with Islamic extremism. Over 300 Kosovars are known to have fought alongside ISIS in Syria, at least 50 of whom have been killed. Police have also investigated or detained over 200 suspects in recent years for involvement with ISIS.

In July, Kosovar authorities arrested an Iranian cleric on charges of terror financing and money laundering. The move was part of a broader crackdown on foreign-funded Islamic organizations operating within Kosovo, which the government said are radicalizing youths.

Kosovo police say they prevented planned synchronized terror attacks in Kosovo and the Balkans, one targeting Israel’s national soccer team and fans during the Albania vs. Israel match on November 12.

In a statement, police said they arrested 19 people believed to be planning attacks coordinated by two ringleaders currently in Syria “alongside ISIS.” Police also seized weapons, explosives and extremist religious materials during various raids.

Eighteen of the suspects are Kosovo nationals and one is Macedonian. One suspect was released after 48 hours. The other 18 will be detained for 30 days for interrogation, officials said.

  20. GREECE – CHIOS – Migrants, officers and residents clash in Greece

4:30 p.m. Police on the eastern Greek island of Chios have detained 37 people following overnight clashes between migrants, police and local residents.

Police said the trouble started Wednesday nights when migrants from a camp in the main town, Chios, allegedly broke into a liquor store. When officers arrived they were attacked with stones, which also damaged cars and shopfronts.

Authorities alleged that other migrants then broke into a fireworks store and launched fireworks at houses, whose residents gathered to confront them.

About 100 migrants erected barricades to stave off riot police, and the clashes lasted until early Thursday.

Police say nobody was injured, but several cars and shops were damaged.

About 2,300 people live in the Chios camp. Some 61,000 migrants are stranded in Greece after a series of Balkan border closures.

    https://www.rt.com/uk/367298-london-portsmouth-terrorism-recruit/

“Terrorist recruiters in Europe have been focusing their energies on London and the southern English city of Portsmouth to find new fighters, a study from the US military shows.

According to a study from the Combating Terrorism Centre (CTC), recruiters from Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) and Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda affiliate group, have established strong networks in the two English cities.

Portsmouth and the British capital are thought to attract extremists because their large migrant communities offer easy access to “high numbers of potential recruits who are potentially under social-economic stress.”

Around 850 men and women are believed to have left Britain for Syria and Iraq to join terrorist organizations. Authorities estimate half have already returned to Britain.

The CTC report lists three quarters of those who traveled between 2011 and 2015. Eight came from Portsmouth while 38 came from London.

“Although foreign fighters as a whole are a diverse group in terms of socio-demographics, the individual recruits themselves tend to cluster in terms of geography,” the United States Military Academy document says.

“Approximately 70 percent of foreign fighters came from the same city as at least one other fighter. This suggests that a geographically-targeted approach to countering violent extremism is more likely to succeed than a ‘shotgun’ strategy.

“While virtual propaganda can provide the initial cognitive opening for adopting the jihadi narrative, a human connection is necessary to push the individual to actual activism, as well as for logistical reasons for travelling to a war zone,” the report stressed…”

“… Developers at Jigsaw, the tech giant’s think-tank, are two months into a pilot project called Redirect, which aims to push web users searching for jihadist information toward content designed to counter the slick tools of terrorist recruitment.

“There are people interested in ISIS’ message on one side and there are videos that undermine ISIS’ message on the other hand,” said Yasmin Green, head of research and development at Jigsaw. “We are using targeted advertising to marry the two.”…”

  26. USA – GEORGIA – Lawmaker to withdraw ‘anti-burqa’ bill after wave of criticism

State Rep. Jason Spencer, R-Woodbine, said Thursday he will withdraw his proposed legislation that would ban women from wearing burqas on public property in Georgia.

Spencer filed the bill on Monday, the first day lawmakers could present legislation to be considered when the Legislature returns in January.

House Bill 3 would have made clear that no one could wear a burqa in a driver’s license or state identification photo or while driving. It also appeared that the measure would have banned women from wearing burqas anywhere on public property.

The reaction to the idea was swift and critical. Earlier Thursday, Senate President Pro Tem David Shafer, R-Duluth, the most powerful member of that chamber, slammed Spencer’s proposal.

“The government has no business preventing Muslim women from wearing face scarves in public,” Shafer said in an interview. “Too many people on both sides of the religious freedom debate only want to protect freedom when it comes to their own beliefs.”

Spencer claimed his bill would past constitutional muster but that political forces were too strong against it.

“While this bill does not contain language that specifically targets any group, I am mindful of the perception that it has created,” he said in a statement. “My objective was to address radical elements that could pose a threat to public safety. However, further consideration dictates that other solutions will need to be considered. ”

A number of top Democrats and Republicans lined up against the measure in the two days it existed, while legal experts doubted the bill would accomplish much other than unfairly target Muslim women. Some Republicans, too, feared the measure would wound any effort to pass a “religious liberty” bill next year.

“Freedom is a meaningless concept if it does not apply to all beliefs, even the ones, especially the ones, you do not share,” Shafer said.

  27. Elbit unveils hostile drone protection system

Israeli defense electronics company Elbit Systems Ltd. has developed the Redrone system for protection of closed air spaces, national infrastructures and other critical areas against hostile drones. ReDrone is designed to detect, identify, track and neutralize different types of drones and can deal with a number of different drones simultaneously.

The ReDrone system disrupts the drone’s communication with its operator, blocks its radio and video signals and GPS positioning data, and sends it off track, preventing it from carrying out an attack.

  28. Repairing the Iran nuclear deal’s damage

It is imperative for the next U.S. president to take steps to strengthen compliance with the Iran nuclear deal, and deliver new messages of determination to Iran.

By insisting on keeping its nuclear infrastructure, Iran succeeded in maintaining its nuclear “breakout” capability. Indeed, in contrast to their initial stated aim of dismantling Iran’s nuclear program, the P5+1 ultimately agreed to a significantly watered-down goal: namely, to extend Iran’s possible breakout to nuclear weapons from an estimated 2-3 months to a year. But once the deal expires, breakout time will again be reduced to two months or even less.

The sunset clauses of the Iran deal must be revisited, and no automatic passage from one stage to the next should be permitted, unless the P5+1 unanimously agree.

More importantly, Iran’s international and internal behavior should be the benchmark against which the expiration of restrictions is assessed, including not only its nuclear behavior, but support for terror and rejection of Israel’s place in the Middle East.

In addition to improvements regarding the JCPOA agreement itself, things need to change in terms of U.S.-Iran interactions. Iran has been exploiting the eagerness of the Obama administration to ignore and/or attempt to explain away all moves Iran has made over the past year to strengthen its position in the military realm and across the Middle East.

Until Iran indicates that it plans to be a willing international and regional player, it cannot be treated as one, especially when it comes to the nuclear realm.

  29. India seeks Israel’s help in containing terrorism from Pakistan

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has sought Israel’s help in containing terrorism from Pakistan as he vowed to expand defense and security ties during his meeting with Israeli President Reuven Rivlin. “President Rivlin and I deeply value our strong and growing partnership to secure our societies. Our people are constantly threatened by forces of terrorism and extremism,” Modi said in New Delhi on Tuesday. Modi said he and President Rivlin have agreed that the international community must act against terror as well as against states that encourage it.

  30. Obama Fomenting Violence, Tells Violent Anti-Trump Protesters They Should “Not Be Silent”

Obama fomenting violence again… Obviously he has eaten some sour grapes. Perhaps because his legacy has been rejected by the working class and favored by the snooty college class, most of whom did not vote to preserve his legacy. Feeling sorry for yourself is a trait of Democrats. Okay so he wants people to violently protest… who does the media compare to Hitler?

    Politico:

President Barack Obama has little sympathy for President-elect Donald Trump when it comes to the protests against him, and he offered up some advice for his successor: Get used to it.

“I’ve been the subject of protests during the course of my eight years,” Obama said at a joint news conference with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Thursday. “And I suspect that there’s not a president in our history that hasn’t been subject to these protests. So, I would not advise people who feel strongly or who are concerned about some of the issues that have been raised during the course of the campaign, I wouldn’t advise them to be silent.”

    • I hear he plans to stick around Washington, the face of the gallant opposition.[*] Constant stream of disruptive noise against DT, et al. Has all his mouth organs set up. This will be a major problem.
      …..
      [*]Still 100% puppet.

      • It will be a distraction especially with the LSM treating him as President and ignoring Trump. We can expect massive disturbances ending in open war against the police and conservatives. Obama is determined to destroy the US in or out of office and Soros will fund his actions (really be the puppet master) as long as both of them are alive. Obama wanted to fundamentally change America and one way or another he is going to do so. The question is which direction will the change lead to, the left and slavery or the right and freedom?

  31. APNewsBreak: US releases Haitians coming from Mexico

SAN DIEGO (AP) — A surge in border crossings and a lack of immigration jail space have prompted the federal government to start releasing Haitian immigrants who have been entering the country in large numbers in recent months, backtracking on a pledge to jail the migrants.

A U.S. government official told The Associated Press that the decision to free Haitians arriving in Arizona and California is in response to a lack of jail space. The official said releasing immigrants with orders to report later to immigration court is a tactic used when detention space is scarce, under certain humanitarian conditions or as part of efforts to keep families together.

Before the Haitians are released, they are subjected to a criminal background and national security check. The official was not authorized to discuss the matter publicly and insisted on speaking on condition of anonymity.

  32. Reaction of Geert Wilders to Penal Demand of Public Prosecutor

I just heard the penal sentence demanded by the Public Prosecutor: a penalty of 5,000 euros.

Speaking about one of the biggest problems of our country – the problem with Moroccans – is now punishable, according to the elite. And, hence, we are slowly but surely losing our freedom of speech. Even asking a question is no longer allowed. Even though millions of people agree. And Moroccans have suddenly become a race. So if you say something about Moroccans, you are now a racist. Nobody understands that. It is utter madness. Only meant to shut you and me up.

  33. Trump Derangement Syndrome
Democrats believe in democracy only until they lose an election.

Like all dictators, the Democrats believe in democracy only until they lose an election.

And then they lose their minds.

The last time a national mental breakdown this severe happened was sixteen years ago when Bush beat Gore. The Democrats reacted gracefully to their defeat by insisting that they didn’t really lose because Bush stole the election. Psychiatrists were soon tending to lefties suffering from depression. Others protested outside the Florida Supreme Court, President Bush’s home and their parents’ basement.

Jesse Jackson accused Republicans of a “coup.” Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson warned that “without justice there will be no peace.” Thousands protested Bush’s inauguration waving signs like, “We want Bush out of D.C.” and “You’re not our president.”

The Congressional Black Caucus tried to obstruct the certification of the Electoral College vote. Then when Bush won again in the next election, they did it all over again. Expect them to try it one more time.

  34. ‘Break the Cross!’ Muhammad Commands It
Islam’s ongoing hate for and war on the Christian Cross.

What more evidence is needed to prove that Islam is at war with Christianity than its well documented hatred for the quintessential symbol of Christianity: the Cross?

This recently occurred to me as I was surfing Arabic language videos and websites discussing Christianity—only to encounter one hostile video, fatwa, or sermon after another against the cross.

Only one seemingly spoke well of the cross—though for a reason that again demonstrated Islam’s hostility for Christians. According to Al Azhar professor Dr. Salim Abdul Galil, Muslims can be tolerant of the cross—they can even wear and pray to it—but only when in need of deceiving Christians, whom the learned cleric portrayed as the natural enemies of Muslims.

The most telling talk show featured Sheikh Abdul Aziz al-Tarifi, a Saudi expert on Islamic law. Asked about Islam’s ruling on whether any person—in this case meaning Christians—are permitted to wear or pray to the cross, the learned Muslim explained: “Under no circumstances is a human permitted to wear the cross” nor “is anyone permitted to pray to the cross.” The reason? “Because the prophet—peace and blessings on him—commanded the breaking of it [the cross].”

  35. New York Times: “We Set the Agenda for the Country.”
    November 17, 2016
    Daniel Greenfield
    13

The New York Times likes to think that it sets the agenda for the country. But it sets the agenda for the media. The media was reputed to take its lead from the Times on matters of national politics and local culture both. Here are the recollections of a former Timesian.

It was a shock on arriving at the New York Times in 2004, as the paper’s movie editor, to realize that its editorial dynamic was essentially the reverse. By and large, talented reporters scrambled to match stories with what internally was often called “the narrative.” We were occasionally asked to map a narrative for our various beats a year in advance, square the plan with editors, then generate stories that fit the pre-designated line.

Reality usually had a way of intervening. But I knew one senior reporter who would play solitaire on his computer in the mornings, waiting for his editors to come through with marching orders. Once, in the Los Angeles bureau, I listened to a visiting National staff reporter tell a contact, more or less: “My editor needs someone to say such-and-such, could you say that?”

The bigger shock came on being told, at least twice, by Times editors who were describing the paper’s daily Page One meeting: “We set the agenda for the country in that room.”

  36. Europe: Let’s End Free Speech!
Are European Countries Now Police States?

    by Judith Bergman
    November 17, 2016 at 5:00 am

    https://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/9311/europe-free-speech

In Europe, is the enemy now the governments? Evidence is mounting that expressing even a mild opinion that runs counter to official government policy can land you in prison, or at least ensure a visit from your friendly local Kafkaesque police. Has Europe effectively become a police state?

Several European governments are making it clear to their citizens that criticizing migrants or European migrant policies is criminally off limits. People who go “too far,” according to the authorities, are being arrested, prosecuted and at times convicted.

In the Netherlands, the police visited people who naïvely made critical comments about asylum centers on Twitter in October 2015. In the town of Sliedrecht, police came to Mark Jongeneel’s office and told him that he tweeted “too much” and that he should “watch his tone”: his tweets “may seem seditious”. His offense? The town had held a citizens meeting about a refugee center in the region, and Jongeneel had posted a few tweets. One said: “The College of #Sliedrecht comes up with a proposal to take 250 refugees over the next two years. What a bad idea!” Earlier he had also tweeted: “Should we let this happen?!”

He was not the only one. In Leeuwarden, according to New Europe:

  37. Politician fired after calling minister ‘whore’ in live clip (thelocal, Nov 17, 2016)
    http://www.thelocal.se/20161117/politician-calls-minister-whore-in-live-youtube-clip

“A centre-right politician landed himself in hot water after he called a Swedish minister a ‘whore’ in front of a camera, without realizing that the entire video was being streamed live to YouTube.

Delmon Haffo was fired from his job as digital communicator for the Moderate party’s office in Stockholm on Thursday afternoon after the incident, the party secretary Tomas Tobé confirmed to Aftonbladet.

Haffo and his colleagues had been trying out their video camera at around noon, seemingly unaware that others could see and hear all their comments in the live clip on the party’s own YouTube channel.

In the clip, Haffo refers to a Twitter argument that started when Social Service Minister Annika Strandhäll commented on a friend’s Facebook page last week after they joked that men’s voting rights should be withdrawn after Donald Trump was elected as the next US president.

“I have also had that thought, I should admit,” wrote Strandhäll at the time.

In the video, which has since been removed from YouTube, Haffo turns to the camera and says: “Annika Strandhäll, it was not okay to joke about men’s right to vote. Go to hell, you whore.”

He then adds that the press spokesperson at the social ministry, Victor Harju, “is a whore too”.

Laughter is then heard from around the room.

Haffo also represents the Moderates in Salem municipality, south-west of Stockholm.

Speaking to the Dagens Nyheter newspaper on Thursday afternoon, the party leader of the Moderates, Anna Kinberg Batra, condemned the comments.

“It is completely unacceptable,” she said. “It is not funny. This sort of thing should not happen.”

“Actually, it’s quite simple. You may criticize your opponents for politics that’s wrong or when ministers do the wrong thing, but you must never make foul comments to other people or cross the line – regardless of the party who does it. There’s too much of that at the moment, I think.”

Strandhäll commented on the incident on her Facebook page, writing: “We all have a responsibility for setting the tone. This is language we don’t accept in a classroom, then we can’t accept it in politics either.”

“As politicians, we often want to be role models for those young people who are often the most active on social media. We all have to ask ourselves what image they should have of adults in politics.”

Haffo had not commented on the video by 4pm on Thursday.”

  38. Police crack down on Vienna’s problem drug dealers (thelocal, Nov 17, 2016)
    http://www.thelocal.at/20161117/police-crack-down-on-viennas-problem-drug-dealers

“Authorities in Vienna say that the number of drug dealers and drug addicts have increased in certain areas of the city, but that police are cracking down on dealers.

“We’re increasingly getting complaints from residents, that drug dealing is becoming a problem again,” police spokesman Roman Hahslinger confirmed.

But police task force commander Harald Poschinger said that the situation is still under control. However, an amendment to the Criminal Code at the beginning of this year made it more difficult for police officers to arrest and charge dealers, which is why the problem became worse. As a response to this the Narcotic Drugs Act was amended on June 1st and since then dealers who are caught in a public space can now be sentenced to up to two years in prison.

As a result of the new drugs law, 566 people have been arrested for “dealing drugs in a public space” since the beginning of June. Hahslinger said that the majority of those arrested (190) are from Nigeria, 107 from Algeria and 63 are Austrian citizens…”

  39. Pakistan’s descent into ‘not free’ internet (tribune, Nov 18, 2016)
    http://tribune.com.pk/story/1235106/pakistans-descent-not-free-internet/

“The government’s attempts to tighten its grip on the internet — the information superhighway — through a series of controversial laws and policies has placed Pakistan among the 10 worst countries for internet freedom for a second straight year.

The Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA) 2016, also seems to have done little to improve the state of internet access or opening up content and upholding rights of citizens to use the internet.

According to the “Freedom on the Net 2016” report, by Washington DC based activist group Freedom House, Pakistan is ranked 10th, just above the likes of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.

The annual report gives Pakistan a score of 69 out of 100 (with 100 the worst score) and is included in the ‘not free’ category.

Over the past five years, Pakistan’s score fell from 55 in 2011 to 69 in 2014 and has remained stagnant since. The scores are marked for three key areas including access to internet, restrictions on accessing certain content and violations of a user’s rights.

While access to the internet has greatly improved in the country, Pakistan’s overall score has suffered due to greater restrictions on content in the country and increasingly impinging on a user’s rights of privacy, freely acting on the internet and repercussions for online activity including legal prosecution, imprisonment, physical attacks, or other forms of harassment…”
