The Ministers have sexsquirrels in the pulpit, why not Islam on the road to Damascus?

    • The US can survive a Trump Presidency and if he follows through with his promises and does a classic free market economic policy and appoints conservative Judges we will prosper.

If Hillary is elected the US won’t survive for 2 years, her policies will be even more disastrous then Obama’s. We will be a combination of Venezuela and Lebanon in the 1970s.

  5. New counter terrorism advice is being urgently issued to vicars and churches this week over fears an attack on Christian religious institutions is now likely

Counter-terror experts fear ISIS extremists armed with knives will target a Western church for their next attack.

Christian leaders are being warned to increase security and avoid wearing dog collars in public.

New counter terrorism advice is being urgently issued to vicars and churches across the UK this week over fears an attack on British religious institutions is now likely.

The new measures follow the murder of a priest by two ISIS terrorists in France last month, amid fears the same could now happen in the UK.

Experts warn that a terrorist attack on churches “is coming.” Places of worship in the UK, which are ‘easy targets’ for extremists, are now being urged to take precautions and beef up security.

  6. U.S.-led coalition planes hit Islamic State in north Syria

ISTANBUL (Reuters) – U.S.-led coalition warplanes hit Islamic State targets near the Syrian frontier town of Jarablus overnight, the Turkish military said on Tuesday, as forces backed by Ankara pushed deeper into north Syria.

Two A-10 planes hit and destroyed two Islamic State targets, the military said in a statement, without elaborating.

Turkey-backed forces seized Jarablus from Islamic State militants last week. They have since pushed into areas held by Kurdish-aligned militias that are supported by Washington.

Differences over Syria policy have long complicated the relationship between NATO allies Turkey and the United States.

  7. Hmm: State Dept. completely redacted emails Huma Abedin sent to her personal accounts
    By J.E. Dyer August 29, 2016

\There seems to be no end to the revelations about classified information being compromised through Hillary Clinton’s email network when she was at the State Department.

The whole story of it seems to be so massive as to defy reconstruction, involving thousands of emails and a number of wholly unsecured personal accounts. Now it appears that Hillary aide Huma Abedin forwarded at least 45 emails containing extensively redacted passages to two personal accounts. These email accounts were exempted from domain-name identification due to “personal privacy exemption.”

In other words, there is no question these accounts are considered to pertain only personally, and not in any government-professional capacity, to Ms. Abedin.

  11. Migrant jailed for claiming £10,000 in UK benefits – while living in Syria (express, Aug 30, 2016)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/uk/705276/syrian-migrant-jailed-claiming-benefits-birmingham-Bashir-Souliman

“A SYRIAN benefits cheat has been jailed for claiming £10,000 in payments from the UK government – despite living in Syria.

Bashir Souliman, originally from the city of Homs, claimed he had been kidnapped in a bid to hoodwink the state, after leaving Birmingham for Syria for nine months.

He lived in Birmingham in January 2014 where he began claiming benefits. He travelled to Syria at the end of that month and remained there until October, despite claiming he only planned to go for one month.

During the eight month trip he continued to claim benefits totalling £10,801, made up of Employment Support Allowance, housing benefits and child tax credits.

When the father-of-two finally returned, he said he had been kidnapped and only released after the payment of a ransom.

However, following a tip-off, he was investigated by anti-fraud officers, and has since been found guilty at court and jailed for 28 weeks.

Speaking at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court on Sunday, chair of the bench Christine Speake said: “This was a deliberate defrauding of the public purse for the sum of over £10,000.

“We take fraud of this kind very seriously. We see no alternative but to jail you.”

His defence solicitor Geraldine Toal said he had returned home to see his children and wife.

She said: “He returned to Syria to see his wife and children. His children had come over to the UK but couldn’t live without their mother so returned to the country.

“There are many issues in Syria and opposing factions and threats have been made to his family.

“He had been living in the UK for 16 years and had periods of work. He had been sending money back to his family in Syria.”

Souliman is now living in Durham, where he no longer claims benefits and is working in a pizza shop.”

  12. UN committee concerned by negative portrayal of immigrants and asylum seekers in UK media (electronic immigration network, Aug 30, 2016)
    http://www.ein.org.uk/news/un-committee-elimination-racial-discrimination-concerned-negative-portrayal-immigrants-and?

“The United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Racial Discrimination yesterday released its concluding observations on the twenty-first to twenty-third periodic reports of the United Kingdom.

    You can access them here.

In the concluding observations, the Committee said it was concerned by the negative portrayal of immigrants, asylum seekers and refugees by the UK media.

As reported by many media outlets (e.g., BBC News here), the Committee was also concerned that “divisive, anti-immigrant and xenophobic” rhetoric by UK politicians during the recent EU referendum campaign contributed to a rise in racist hate speech and hate crimes.

David Isaac, chairman of the Equality and Human Rights Commission, told the BBC that his organisation shared the UN’s concerns and supported its call for “effective investigation and prosecution of all acts of racist hate crime”.

“There are concerns that the acrimonious and divisive manner in which the referendum debate was conducted exacerbated worrying divisions in British society, and has been used by a minority to legitimise race hate”, Isaac said.

The full section on racist hate speech and hate crimes from the UN Committee’s concluding observations is excerpted below:

“Racist hate speech and hate crimes

    15. The Committee is seriously concerned at the sharp increase in the number of racist hate crimes especially in England, Wales and Northern Ireland in the weeks prior to and following the referendum on the membership of the European Union held on 23 June 2016. In particular, the Committee is deeply concerned that the referendum campaign was marked by divisive, anti-immigrant and xenophobic rhetoric, and that many politicians and prominent political figures not only failed to condemn it, but also created and entrenched prejudices, thereby emboldening individuals to carry out acts of intimidation and hate towards ethnic or ethno-religious minority communities and people who are visibly different. The Committee remains concerned that despite the recent increase in the reporting of hate crimes, the problem of underreporting persists, and the gap between reported cases and successful prosecution remains significant. As a result, a large number of racist hate crimes seem to go unpunished. It also remains concerned at the negative portrayal of ethnic or ethno-religious minority communities, immigrants, asylum-seekers and refugees by the media in the State party, particularly in the aftermath of terrorist attacks, as well as the rise of racist hate speech on the Internet. Notwithstanding these challenges, the Committee regrets that the State party continues to maintain its interpretative declaration on article 4 of the Convention (arts. 2, 4 and 6).

    16. The Committee recommends that the State party, including the governments of Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the British Overseas Territories and the Crown dependencies:

    (a) Investigate all reported acts of racist hate crimes, prosecute and punish the perpetrators with sanctions commensurate with the gravity of the offence, and provide effective remedies to victims;

    (b) Systematically collect disaggregated data on hate crimes, ensure that measures to combat racist hate crimes are developed with the meaningful participation of affected groups, and undertake a thorough impact assessment of the measures adopted to ensure their continued effectiveness;

    (c) Adopt concrete measures, in consultation with affected groups, to increase the reporting of racist hate crimes by ensuring that the reporting mechanism is transparent and accessible, and that victims have trust in the police and the justice system;

    (d) Taking into account the Committee’s general recommendation No. 35 (2013) on combating racist hate speech, adopt comprehensive measures to combat racist hate speech and xenophobic political discourse, including on the Internet, particularly with regard to the application of appropriate sanctions, and ensure that public officials not only refrain from such speech but also formally reject hate speech and condemn the hateful ideas expressed so as to promote a culture of tolerance and respect;

    (e) Take effective measures to combat racist media coverage, taking into account the Committee’s general recommendation No. 35 (2013) on combating racist hate speech, and ensure that such cases are thoroughly investigated and, where appropriate, sanctions are imposed.””

He then launched an attack with a knife on the female officer, injuring her on her neck. The assailant also tried to grab her weapon before he was subdued.

French security forces have been targeted by Islamist militants who have carried out several attacks since January last year.

  15. Burkas will ‘NOT be tolerated’: Jobs boss refuses to employ women with full veils (express, Aug 30, 2016)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/705234/German-employment-agency-boss-vows-burkas-not-tolerated-his-offices

“THE boss of the German Federal Employment Agency has vowed that women in burkas will not get a job under his administration.

Frank-Juergen Weise, manager of the ‘Bundesagentur fur Arbeit’ (BA), said that fully-veiled women will not be “tolerated” in his offices.

He said: “An employee with a Burka will not be tolerated here. Just like people with sloppy clothes will not be accepted.”

However, the labour chief said that headscarves are allowed by the job centre.

Weise explained: “If it is not reflected in a behaviour that contradicts our values, wearing a headscarf is fine for me. Then it is just a piece of clothing.”

The news that job centres will not accept fully-veiled women follows the recent declaration by German Home Secretary Thomas de Maiziere of a partial ban on the full-face veil.

According to his proposal, it should be prohibited in some public spaces, such as day-care centres, schools, universities and courtrooms.

The declaration by de Maiziere has caused some controversy in the country.

The call by the jobs boss comes after a poll of Germans revealed 81 per cent were against the burka being used in public.”

  16. For the third time within a few weeks a another summit cross has been damaged in the Bavarian Alps.

All three attacks occurred in the mountains near Lenggries in Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen. The police are baffled. Because it is not yet clear whether it was one and the same person who made to tamper with the Christian symbols.

In the current case, an unknown damaged the cross on the Schafreuter near Lenggries. According to police, this was already in the early hours of Sunday. He cut it, not completely, but damaged the cross with ax and saw massive.

The offender had moved after the first investigation on Saturday to the summit before nightfall. He had then smashed with an ax on the summit cross, stayed there and was down hiked at sunrise again.
    ……………………
Whether a link between the three acts, of which only two police were reported, is still unclear. Because the physical descriptions of witnesses contradicted each other. Time there was talk of a muscular man, sometimes from one with a paunch. In any case, the investigators believe that the actions were well prepared and most likely have a religious background.

  21. Czech intelligence services investigating imam formerly active in Prague (radiocz, Aug 30, 2016)
    http://www.radio.cz/en/section/bulletin/daily-news-summary-2016-08-30

“The Czech intelligence services are investigating an imam formerly active in Prague who apparently tried to radicalize the Czech Muslim community, the news site idnes reported. Imam Samer Shehadeh reportedly tried to dissuade members of the Muslim community from attending a Christian mass in a show of solidarity with people of a different faith by warning them that it would amount to a betrayal of Islam. Recordings of him preaching also indicate that he was more radical than the community assumed. According to Romana ?ervenková of the Czech Muslim community Shehadeh was a self-proclaimed imam without official accreditation and the community quickly distanced itself from him. Shehadeh then reportedly spent a brief time preaching in Bratislava from where he was forced out as well.”

  22. Kerry to the Media: Cover Terrorism Less, So ‘People Wouldn’t Know What’s Going On’

In his remarks in Bangladesh on Monday, Secretary of State John Kerry explicitly asked the media to cover terrorism less, so “people wouldn’t know what’s going on.” The line also drew applause from the audience.

While discussing terrorism, Kerry said “it’s easy to terrorize … you can make some noise.” He then suggested, “Perhaps the media would do us all a service if they didn’t cover it quite as much. People wouldn’t know what’s going on.”

Here is the context of his remark (from the official State Department transcript):

Remember this: No country is immune from terrorism. It’s easy to terrorize. Government and law enforcement have to be correct 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. But if you decide one day you’re going to be a terrorist and you’re willing to kill yourself, you can go out and kill some people. You can make some noise. Perhaps the media would do us all a service if they didn’t cover it quite as much. People wouldn’t know what’s going on. (Applause.)

In emphasizing the difference between government and terrorists, the secretary of State made a good point: that it is easier for a terrorist to grab people’s attention than for the government to do so. The reasons for this are obvious: terrorists threaten life and limb, while government should not do so. In reality, government does abuse its citizens, but since its primary aim is to serve them, such scandals are comparatively rare.

  23. Leaked Memo Reveals Soros Plan for Federally Controlled Police

A leaked document from George Soros’s Open Society Foundations exposes the billionaire’s level of involvement in attempting to build what his organization describes as a “national movement” to reform local police forces across the U.S. The reform largely consists of federal guidelines for local police forces.

The document identifies an opportunity in the police killings of African-American men in Ferguson, Staten Island, North Charleston, and Baltimore. It relates that the U.S. contingent of Open Society held a planning meeting titled, “Police Reform: How to Take Advantage of the Crisis of the Moment and Drive Long-Term Institutional Change in Police-Community Practice.”

    • For a long time the left has dreamed of nationalizing the police forces and Sheriffs Departments in the US.If they ever make their dream reality the police will no longer be responsible to the locak politicians and the citizens who pay their salaries they will be responsible to the Federal Department of Justice. They will also be subject to being transferred to other locations including other states rather then spending their careers in one location. This national police force aka constabulary is one of the requirements that the USSR considered necessary to take over the US. Another one is forbidding the private citizens to own firearms. Does anyone consider it a coincidence that the Obama administration supports both?

Officially, the 39-year-old Taha Subhi Falaha, better known as Abu Mohammed al-Adnani, was spokesman for the so-called Islamic State: a vitriolic but compelling rhetorician for the caliphate whose imprecations—against America, the Shia, insufficiently pious Muslims and eventually al-Qaeda—earned him the nickname “attack dog.”

Now he’s a dead one, according to the organization he served.

In a statement, the ISIS propaganda agency Amaq said he was “martyred while surveying the operations to repel the military campaigns in Aleppo,” in Syria.

The Pentagon is being cautious, or perhaps a little coy. A senior defense official said “coalition forces conducted an airstrike in al-Bab, Syria,” and the target was al-Adnani. Although it is “still assessing the results of the strike…Al-Adnani’s removal from the battlefield would mark another significant blow to” the terror franchise, Pentagon Press Secretary Peter Cook said in a statement this evening.

Adnani would be by far the most important ISIS leadership target yet eliminated by coalition forces.

Unofficially, he ran “all of Syria” for ISIS, according to Abu Khaled, a pseudonymous defector from the organization’s FBI-like amn al-dawleh security service, one of four main intelligence branches tasked with ensuring that no threats could ever emerge to the Islamic State from within.

Adnani’s primary concern, at least as of the last two years or so, was overseeing the exportation of savagery in the form of foreign terrorist attacks planned and perpetrated by ISIS central command in Syria. He also egged on those who might otherwise be “inspired” by its world-historical, messianic vision of first restoring the Levant and Mesopotamia to a purer, 7th-century version of Islamic rule and then, God willing, conquering the world. This assessment is shared by Cook, who noted in his press release, that Adandi was the “principal architect of [ISIS’s] external operations” and “coordinated the movement of [ISIS] fighters, directly encouraged lone-wolf attacks on civilians and members of the military and actively recruited new [ISIS] members.”

George Washington U Hires Al Qaeda Terrorist as National Security Expert

I don’t see the problem. He’s clearly an expert in the field. Granted he’s an expert in carrying out terrorism rather than preventing it, but that’s true across all levels of government under Obama. We have a DOJ that specializes in protecting criminals. Why not just bring terrorists in to help with national security?

George Washington University has hired a former Islamic extremist to work at its center on homeland security — a man who once denounced the United States and made threats against the creators of the TV series “South Park” for depicting the Prophet Muhammad in a bear suit.

While reformed extremists have worked at universities in Europe to help fight terrorism, this is believed to be a first in the United States.Jesse Morton, who was known as Younus Abdullah Muhammad when he was a recruiter for the al-Qaeda, brings a “unique perspective” to counter-terrorism work, said Seamus Hughes, deputy director of the Program on Extremism at George Washington University’s Center for Cyber & Homeland Security.

    Unique certainly.

  25. Clinton Donor Denied Visa for Hezbollah Ties

    Daniel Greenfield

Lots of smoke. Lots and lots and lots of smoke.

A Lebanese-Nigerian billionaire who donated millions to Clinton-family nonprofits was denied a visa to enter the United States last year on terrorism-related grounds, according to a new report.

Gilbert Chagoury, who donated millions to the Clinton Foundation and in 2009 pledged $1 billion to the Clinton Global Initiative, was denied entry last summer amid a review of his ties in Lebanon to Hezbollah, the Los Angeles Times reported Sunday.

The Trump campaign quickly renewed its call for a shutdown of the Clinton Foundation.

The Clinton Foundation is just the Clintons doing what they’ve always done… take money from anyone

The billionaire was on the Department of Homeland Security’s no-fly list in 2010 and was pulled off a plane. He’s now on the “selectee” list that allows him to fly with extra scrutiny. Chagoury has denied any support for the terrorist group.

This is the walking security risk that has become the Dem nominee.

“The fact a major Clinton Foundation donor was denied entry into the US over ties to the terrorist group Hezbollah is deeply troubling, especially when this individual had access to top aides at Hillary Clinton’s State Department,” Trump spokesman Jason Miller said Sunday, calling for the release of Clinton’s schedules and the shutdow

  26. Thousands of asylum seekers reported to be working illicitly in Germany (DW, Aug 30, 2016)
    http://www.dw.com/en/thousands-of-asylum-seekers-reported-to-be-working-illicitly-in-germany/a-19512047

“According to an NDR television report, illicit work is being done by at least 100,000 of Germany’s recently-arrived asylum seekers. Many profiteers may include eateries, discos and householders the program claimed.

The “NDR Info” program reported it had learned from social workers and refugee helpers that up to 30 percent of the 1.1 million refugees who arrived in Germany last year were working without being properly registered with the authorities.

NDR suggested that at least 100,000 were working in this way without their employers making sure that health and pension contributions and taxes were being paid into Germany’s elaborate social welfare system.

“Many profit from the plight of refugees,” said Emilia Mitrovic of the German DGB trade union federation’s advisory center in Hamburg, referring to employers who dodged welfare payments. Most of the work involved menial tasks.

The report comes five days ahead of a litmus-test regional state election in Mecklenberg-West Pomerania, Germany’s Baltic Sea state that was once part of communist East Germany.
    New integration law

A new integration law, effective from 6 August, is supposed to make it easier for asylum seekers to find legal work. Social workers say it is a start but it will not greatly cut “Schwarzarbeit” the German word for illicit or undeclared employment.

There are no official figures available according to the program but ten cases were being uncovered each month by Germany’s customs service which has increasingly pursued illegal employment in recent years…”

    • This is what happens when excessive taxation and minimum wage laws are in effect. A huge underground economy.
The workers continue to receive big state benefits and the employers get reduced wage and tax benefits.
I live in NY. I have never had a tradesman come to my home and not offer me a “cash” price…

      • As far as I can tell there are two reasons for minimum wage laws, 1) give massive increases to the union workers so the union bosses can make a lot more. 2) force businesses to reduce their labor force making more people dependent on the government. There sure aren’t any economic advantages.

  27. Denmark wants it to be even harder to get residency (thelocal, Aug 30, 2016)
    http://www.thelocal.dk/20160830/denmark-wants-to-make-it-even-harder-to-achieve-permanent-residence

“As part of the government’s so-called 2025 Plan released on Tuesday, a full 44 initiatives were introduced within the area of immigration.

Among the proposals that would be of particular interest to The Local’s readers are changes meant to make it harder for foreigners living in Denmark to obtain a permanent residence permit.

Saying “the government is working for Denmark to be open for those who can and will, but also to close the doors for those who can’t”, it announced plans to “tighten the rules further”.

The plans call for foreigners to first be able to obtain permanent residency after living in Denmark for eight years, as opposed to the current six. At the outset of 2016, that time period was just five years before it was increased as part of a comprehensive immigration bill.

Additionally, the government wants to further tighten the employment requirements so that foreigners will have to have been employed for 3.5 of the past four years when they apply for permanent residency. It’s currently required that foreigners have been employed for 2.5 of the past three years, but that too was changed as part of the January immigration bill. The previous rules called for employment for three of the past five years.

The government has tried to maintain an “incentive” for foreigners by saying that if they meet four supplementary conditions – displaying ‘active citizenship’ by participating in civic organizations or the passing of a citizenship test, steady employment for four of the past 4.5 years, an annual salary of 270,000 kroner for two years prior to application, or the completion of Danish 3 language courses – permanent residence can be achieved sooner.

It also wants to increase the incentive to leave the country, offering “increased support for the repatriation of foreigners who have a residence permit” in the form of financial payments to cover such things as health care and education in a foreigner’s home country.

    ‘Emergency brake’ for asylum
The majority of the government’s immigration proposals have to do with asylum, which is currently at its lowest level since this year. Denmark has thus far received roughly 4,700 asylum seekers, a far cry from the 21,000 who came last year.

Nevertheless, the government entitled its plan ‘A Stronger Denmark: Control of the Refugee Flow’ and promised a number of initiatives to bring the number down even further. It said it expects 10,000 asylum seekers by the end of 2016, though that would require more to come in the next four months than in the previous eight.

“Even though the number of asylum seekers is lower this year than we initially expected, 10,000 asylum seekers is still too many and we want the number to go further down. At the same time, we need to be ready to handle an acute pressure if holes again emerge in Europe’s borders,” Integration Minister Inger Støjberg said in a press release.

The government wants to lay the groundwork for an “emergency brake” that can be initiated to reject asylum seekers at the border under “a crisis situation”. It also calls for tougher requirements to qualify for the controversial ‘integration benefit’ introduced last year.

The government also says it will redistribute one billion kroner of money saved through asylum restrictions at home to countries like Syria, Turkey, Lebanon and Jordan.

“The government’s tight immigration policy and the EU’s agreement with Turkey has led to significantly fewer asylum seekers in Denmark. This means that we can now move more money to helping refugees in the world’s hotspots rather than asylum seekers in Brande and Brønderslev,” Foreign Minister Kristian Jensen said in a separate press release.

The government’s full immigration plans can be found here (in Danish).”

  28. United Nations weighs in on burqini ban debate (thelocal, Aug 30, 2016)
    http://www.thelocal.ch/20160830/un-weighs-in-on-burqini-debate

“The Geneva-based UN on Tuesday welcomed a decision by France’s highest administrative court to suspend a controversial ban on burqini swimwear, warning that the ban had fuelled religious intolerance and stigmatization.

“These decrees do not improve the security situation but rather fuel religious intolerance and the stigmatization of Muslims in France, especially women,” Rupert Colville, spokesman for the UN rights office, told reporters.

“Dress codes such as the anti-burkini decrees disproportionately affect women and girls, undermining their autonomy by denying them the ability to make independent decisions about how to dress, and clearly discriminate against them,” he said.

He also decried that “the manner in which the anti-burkini decrees have been implemented in some French resorts has been humiliating and degrading”….”

    • Switzerland: Burkini ban ‘fuels religious intolerance’ rules UN

The UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in Geneva hailed last Friday’s decision by France’s highest administrative court, to suspend the controversial burkini ban adopted in the seaside resort of Villeneuve-Loubet in South France, Friday.

SOT, Cecile Pouilly, Spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (French): “This ban, this anti-Burkini decree, constitutes an unlawful interference with individual freedom and it is a serious attack. You know, international law and international human rights law stipulate that it is possible to limit the way we manifest these beliefs, our religion including the choice of clothing but in an extremely limited way, especially for reasons of public order, public safety, morality or public health. But these are very limited reasons and we do not seem to see them match the reality as described by the mentioned anti-Burkini decree.”

SOT, Cecile Pouilly, Spokesperson for the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights (French): “The anti-Burkini decree is not a security measure. It can not meet the demands of order or public safety. On the contrary, in fact, this anti-Burkini decree tends to fuel committees against each other at a time when we need more dialogue, mutual respect, to promote efforts to combat violent extremism. This is very important at the moment in France.”

“TUNIS – Tunisia’s interior ministry has prevented about 18,000 of the country’s young citizens from leaving to join Jihadists fighting in Syria, Iraq and Libya, former Premier Habib Essid said.

During the ceremony in which Essid handed over the helm of Tunisia’s national unity government to new premier Youssef Chahed, he highlighted this as one of the most important successes of his government.

Essid also said he hoped the new executive would be committed to pursuing his efforts to support military and security institutions fighting against Jihadist terrorism.

On Monday, three soldiers were killed and nine were injured in a terror attack on Mount Semmama near the Algerian border.”

  30. Iraq: Oil smoke shrouds Qayyarah days after IS’ scorched earth tactics

Forces of the self-proclaimed Islamic State (IS; formerly ISIS/ISIL) set fire to oil wells in Qayyarah as they withdrew from the area last week leaving the city covered in a pall of black smoke several days later.

Local residents dumped sand on slicks of oil on the city streets, Tuesday, after IS fighters had reportedly opened the taps of an oil pipeline and let them run. Black smoke billowed above buildings as the wells continued to burn.

  31. French Muslim Leader: ‘Focus on Real Problems, Not Islam’

France, which suffered four bloody terrorist attacks in less than two years, is attempting to restore balance within the country and calm the public opinion that currently borders on Islamophobia.

On August 29, the French Interior Ministry held a ‘consultations day on Islam in France’, as Minister Bernard Cazeneuve himself met with prominent French MPs and Muslim community leaders to discuss important issues related to this religion.

Abdallah Zekri, Secretary General of the French Council of the Muslim Faith, told Sputnik that the minister admitted that the recent row involving a ban on Islamic female swimwear burkini must be finally laid to rest. He also added that Cazeneuve and the Muslim representatives in attendance also discussed the creation and future activities of the new Islamic foundation which will hopefully help improve relations between France’s Muslim community and French society in general.

“We asked him to ensure that political parties stick to politics and stop constantly talking about Islam and Muslims, because the uneasy time of elections is nearly upon us. And I’m pleased to see that the rightists are already split. Let them split further, let them leave Muslims and Islam alone. Let the French Muslims be at least a little bit respected – they’re French citizens, even more so than some of the others,” Zekri declared.

He also said that French society apparently has weakened under all of the pressure it has been subjected to lately, and that people should stop focusing their attention on Islam at the expense of other important issues.

“I would like the upcoming election debates to be focused on the economic crisis, social crisis, moral crisis, unemployment and France’s financial problems, instead of focusing on Muslims, hijabs, burkas and pork-free school menus. I want people to stop using Islam to cover their weaknesses, to conceal the obvious failure which is currently being experienced by France’s political parties,” Zekri surmised.
