  1. Obama Dissatisfied With Slow Pace Of Ceding Mideast To Russia, Iran SATIRE

Washington, August 22 – US President Barack Obama voiced frustration this morning at his administration’s apparent inability to hand over hegemony in the Middle East to the Ayatollahs and Vladimir Putin any faster, White House officials reported today.
Press Secretary Josh Earnest responded to press corps questioning today and noted that while the ultimate goal of abandoning US allies in the region to Iranian and Russian ambitions will still take place, the president had hoped it could happen more thoroughly by the time he leaves office in January.
“The president believes it could have happened faster, especially if he had received the cooperation of Congressional Republicans in legalizing Iran’s nuclear weapons program,” said Earnest. “As it stands, however, the retrenchment of American power in the Levant, the Persian Gulf, Egypt, and beyond is proceeding at a less-than-desirable rate, and it appears that the next administration will have to take charge of completing the dismantlement of seventy years of American successes in minimizing rivals’ influence in the Mideast.”

  2. Unfortunate piece out of Hungary: Pres. Orban gets his hands dirty with Zsolt Bayer. There has to be another explanation for this:

Zsolt Bayer, purveyor of hate, in his own words
Decent, democratic Hungarians are stunned. The hate-filled, racist, anti-Semitic journalistic hack, Zsolt Bayer, on the recommendation of Zoltán Balog, received the third highest decoration the government can bestow on people of great achievement. János Lázár presented Bayer with the “Hungarian Middle Cross.”

    • Dozens hand in their medals as Hungary honors ‘anti-Semite’

A Hungarian state honour given to a prominent journalist close to Prime Minister Viktor Orban but seen by his critics as “racist” has prompted several dozen recipients of the same award to return theirs in protest.

The journalist Zsolt Bayer was one of several Hungarian citizens handed an Order of Merit of the Knight’s Cross by President Janos Ader in a ceremony in Budapest on Saturday, one of Hungary’s national days.

By late Monday, 40 previous recipients of the decoration including scientists, artists, and academics had posted messages on social media saying they were returning their own awards in protest.

Bayer, who is often photographed in Orban’s company, is a founder of a civil group that organises massive pro-government street demonstrations. He also writes an occasional column in the right-wing Magyar Hirlap daily.

He has in the past compared the Roma people, Hungary’s 600,000- to 700,000-strong largest minority group, to “animals”, and written remarks seen as anti-Semitic in a country with a Jewish community estimated at over 100,000.

The head of Hungary’s largest Jewish organisation Maszihisz, Andras Heisler, said he was also handing back his award given him in 2011 as he did not want to belong to the same “group of people” as Bayer.

    • Thing is, I can see where he’s coming from when he’s talking about gypsies and hijra invaders. Not that I’d say it, not that I’m proud of it.

As Eeyore says, if the hard-left isn’t stopped, we’ll see REAL right-wing monsters crawling out from beneath the stones. And they’ll be welcomed.

  3. ALLAHU AKBAR IN AUSTRALIA – Young British backpacker dead after hostel stabbing in Home Hill, Queensland

A 21-YEAR-OLD British backpacker has died after allegedly being stabbed by a French national yelling “Allahu akbar” at a north Queensland hostel.

Australian Federal Police are investigating if the fatal stabbing of the British backpacker was terror-related.

The 29-year-old French national — who had been in the country for several months — was heard to yell “Allahu akbar” before fatally attacking the woman and critically injuring a 30-year-old British male backpacker.

The 21-year-old died at the scene, while the man was rushed to Townsville Hospital, where he continues to fight for his life.

Queensland Police Service Deputy Commissioner Steve Gollschewski said a dog was also stabbed to death.

The alleged knifeman was treated in Townsville Hospital for cuts to his arm. He remains in police custody, though charges are yet to be laid over the incident.

Townsville police Superintendent Ray Rohweder said a fight erupted between the trio in front of 30 onlookers at Shelley’s Backpackers in Home Hill, south of Townsville, about 11.15pm Tuesday.

Paramedics were called but were unable to save the young woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

Supt Rohweder said the British consulate had been notified and was in the process of breaking the news to the next-of-kin of both the young woman and man.

He said it was not yet clear what sparked the fatal fight.

“We’re still trying to piece together what has happened, as you can imagine there were a lot of people present at the time, there are in excess of 30 witnesses, but as we understand it the French gentleman has attacked both the two British nationals,” he said.

“We’re still trying to establish motive, it’s not until we speak to all witnesses we will be in a position to know more.”

Home Hill is a small town in the centre of a fruit and vegetable growing region, where many young backpackers stay for extended periods to undertake seasonal picking work.

Supt Rohweder said it was believed the trio were all known to each other and had been staying at the backpackers hostel while working locally.

He described the scene that met officers who arrived as a confronting one.

“I can tell you the scene that confronted police was terrible, both officers in my book acted tremendously (and) ensured the safety of others,” he said.

He rejected questions from reporters at the scene that there might be any potential terrorist link in the attack.

“At this stage, it’s a local investigation, we draw expertise from all over the state and that’s what we’ll be doing,” he said.

Supt Rohweder said police had seized a knife believed to be used in the fatal attack at the scene and did not suspect anyone else of being involved in the young woman’s death.

    • the guardian – French man allegedly shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ in fatal stabbing of British woman at Australian hostel

[…]there were reports that the man, a French national aged 29, had used the phrase “Allahu Akbar” – God is greatest in Arabic – during the attack that was witnessed by up to 30 people.

“Investigators will also consider whether mental health or drug misuse factors are involved.”

Investigators arrested the French man at the scene and took possession of the knife allegedly used in the attacks. “We’re not looking for anyone else,” Rohweder said.

The French national had been in Australia on a temporary visa since March and was not previously known to police.
