  1. Turkey: Thousands of pro-Erdogan supporters take to streets of Ankara

Thousands came out on to the streets of Ankara, Wednesday, to show their support for Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The crowds, waving Turkish flags, gathered outside the Presidential Palace in the Bestepe neighborhood of the capital.

Accompanied by government officials including Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, Erdogan stepped outside of the Palace to greet the gathered crowds. The demonstration takes place just three days after millions gathered in Istanbul’s Yenikapi Square to denounce the recent failed coup attempt.

    • Let’s see how enthusiastic they are if it ever becomes provable that whatever European Turkish gastarbeiter in question ends up being solely complicit with respect to some nuclear terrorist attack against a major Western metropolis. What then should we expect?

Oh sure … ‘assimilation is a crime against humanity’ and what does that mean?

Recep Tayyip Erdo?an talks a lot … yet also, nearly, got his worthless bloated posterior shot out of the sky and ejected from Turkey’s government like the pond scum that he is.

      Perish the thought.

    • To destroy the west the left has to destroy our culture, the foundation of all cultures is the moral code they are built on. This was the reason for norming Homosexuality and is why they are going to continue to work to normalize polygamy and polyandry. There is a a mother and son who are fighting to be able to marry and have children. The mother was born in Britain but I don’t now where they are currently living.

  3. Six in ten say migrants put pressure on NHS, schools and housing: Poll finds UK is one of the countries most worried about rising immigration (dailymail, Aug 11, 2016)
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3734099/Six-ten-say-migrants-pressure-NHS-schools-housing-Poll-finds-UK-one-countries-worried-rising-immigration.html

“Six in ten British voters think immigration is piling too much pressure on schools, hospitals and housing – well above the worldwide average.

A study conducted across 22 countries around the globe also revealed widespread alarm that terrorists may be posing as refugees to sneak through border controls.

Pollsters Ipsos MORI found that the UK is one of the countries most worried about the pressure placed on public services by rising immigration levels, with 59 per cent concerned.

This compares to an average of 50 per cent worldwide.

Some 49 per cent of Britons think there are too many immigrants in the UK, which is in line with most countries worldwide.

Almost four in ten also say immigration has made it harder for native Britons to get a job.

Just 31 per cent of those surveyed in Britain support closing our borders to refugees – but 63 per cent believe terrorists are pretending to be refugees.

Across all of the countries, four in ten say that their country should close its borders to refugees entirely.

Concern about migrants integrating into British society is in line with the global average, with 40 per cent agreeing that most refugees will integrate successfully, while 47 per cent disagree.

Half of Britons – 51 per cent – think that refugees are actually economic migrants instead, while 37 per cent disagree.

On average worldwide, six in ten think terrorists are pretending to be refugees, with more than seven in ten believing this to be the case in Turkey, Russia, India, Hungary, Germany and the United States.

On average, more people say immigration has generally had a negative (45 per cent) rather than positive (20 per cent) effect on their country.

At least six in ten in Turkey, Italy, Russia, Hungary, France and Belgium say immigration has had a negative impact.

Half across the 22 countries say there are too many immigrants in their country…”

  4. Turkey’s Erdogan to US: Hand over exiled cleric Gulen (CNN, Aug 11, 2016)
    http://edition.cnn.com/2016/08/11/politics/turkey-us-fethullah-gulen-ultimatum/index.html

“Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan appeared to give the United States an ultimatum, demanding the extradition of a cleric he believes is behind the failed July 15 coup attempt.

Erdogan said the US would eventually have to choose between its relationship with Turkey and Fethullah Gulen, a former Erdogan ally who has been in self-imposed exile in Pennsylvania since 1999, the state-run Anadolu news agency reported Wednesday.

“Sooner or later the US will make a choice. Either Turkey or FETO,” Erdogan said, in reference to the movement headed by Gulen.

Turkey has requested Gulen’s extradition, with a delegation of parliamentarians handing over dozens of boxes of documents to US officials to support its case.

President Obama has said that the cleric would only be extradited as a result of “a legal process,” and if the extradition request is found to be justified according to the relevant laws and treaties.

Gulen has repeatedly denied involvement in the coup attempt and rejected Turkish arrest warrants issued for him.

Erdogan went on to say that the US was “in a position to make a choice” over the issue, Anadolu reported.

“We sent 85 boxes of files,” he said, adding that he assumed the US would not keep the cleric any longer, but “send him back.”

CNN legal analyst Danny Cevallos says that extradition from the US is generally only granted pursuant to a treaty — one of which exists between the US and Turkey.

But extradition requests are complex matters, typically complicated by “unique and knotty treaties, multilayer exceptions to rules and nebulous definitions of extraditable crimes,” he wrote.

“The result is that every extradition request becomes a case-by-case analysis, guided by the moment’s prevailing international political winds.”

The Gulen issue has strained relations between Ankara and other members of the NATO alliance…”

  5. Bulgaria builds 30km fence on Turkish border to keep migrants out (express, Aug 11, 2016)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/698963/Bulgaria-migrant-crisis-30-kilometre-fence-Greece-Turkey

“BULGARIA has erected a 30km long and 3.5metre high fence along its borders with Greece and Turkey over fears of an influx of migrants.

Citizens in the town of Rezovo have cited concerns a massive flow of migrants could try to enter the country from Turkey.

Officials have warned Ankara cancelled an agreement with the European Union (EU) on taking its fair share of asylum seekers following the failed coup against President Erdogan’s government earlier this year.

Now Bulgarian authorities have decided to take action, and have extended the fence on the border with Greece and Turkey by 30 kilometres in length and 3.5 meters in height.

Each day, between 150 and 200 illegal immigrants who try to cross the Bulgarian border are sent back to Turkey.

Authorities now fear this could dramatically increase in coming weeks if the Turkish government were to go back on their agreement to allow Europe to send Middle East refugees who arrived in Greece back to Turkey in exchange for political and financial freedom – and €3 billion.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov said: “The challenge, however, is not only to keep the channel of communication with Ankara open, but also to ensure that Turkey will not allow the free passage of refugees to Bulgaria.”

Sofia – which has raised a 484km fence along its Greek border – hopes to maintain good relations with Turkey because of the Turkish minority in the country.

Officials have also highlighted their concerns that the closing of the Greece-Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia border might also force migrants to enter western Europe through Bulgaria.”

“CHILLING footage has emerged of depraved Islamic State extremists forcing children to watch as they execute a man for “being gay”.

In the video, the depraved jihadists capture the prisoner’s final minutes as they hold a “trial” into the accusation that he was a homosexual.

“THE Syrian refugees who have resettled on the remote Scotish island of Bute keep to themselves, according to one local resident.

Residents have claimed that the 15 families of Syrian refugees who have moved onto the Scottish island of Bute since Christmas keep to themselves.

One native islander said the refugees “don’t have anything to do with” the locals on the island where only 7,000 people reside.

One unnamed resident added: “As an island community, we fear the big world outside to a certain extent.”

The 72-year-old continued: “We first heard about [the refugees] through hot gossip.

“I am afraid I’m old-fashioned but I’ve never heard of any of my local friends having anything whatsoever to do with the refugees.

“I think there is very much them and us.”

The remarks came after Syrian refugees who resettled on the remote Scottish island complained that their new home was “full of old people waiting to die”…”

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/699045/ISIS-weapons-and-bombs-cache-discovered-in-Russia

“THE RUSSIAN secret service seized weapons, explosives and propaganda materials in 27 raids on addresses “linked to a jihadist online group”.

The FSB “identified and thwarted” the activities of cells belonging to an international internet community “created to propagate terrorist ideology and recruit fighters for the Islamic State”, said a statement.

Four arrests of alleged terrorists were made by police and the security service.

The raids were in the Urals and Siberia, spanning Sverdlovsk, Tyumen and Chelyabinsk regions.

The alleged grouping was “created” to push ISIS terrorist ideology and recruit fighters but also for “raising money for funding this terrorist organisation,” said an FSB statement.

Officers “seized computers, mobile phones containing terrorist propaganda video footage, extremist literature, bank cards, as well as an arsenal of three guns, four grenades, some 500 grams of plastic explosives, five TNT blocks weighing 1kg and electrical detonators for them.”

Criminal cases related to terrorism have been opened against four members of the group, including its leader, said the FSB…”

  9. German police union call for checks on ALL refugees after ISIS fighter arrested (express, Aug 11, 2016)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/698984/German-police-union-terror-checks-ISIS-refugee-plot

“A GERMAN police union has called for all refugees to undergo terrorism checks after officers arrested a potential Islamic State fighter.

Police in Rhineland-Palatinate have arrested a young Syrian who is thought to be a member of the terrorist militia.

It is believed he was planning an attack to coincide with the start of Germany’s football season on August 26.

Now a union of officers is demanding a review of all refugees to check for potential links to the extremist deah cult.

The chairman of the German Police Union (DPolG) Rainer Wendt said: ”If you do not know where hundreds of thousands of people come from and with what kind of intentions they come here, then this turns into a huge element of uncertainty.

    “He had to be eliminated.”

According to the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Interior, the 24-year-old man was born in Damascus and arrived in Germany as a refugee in early 2016.

He was arrested on Friday on suspicion of being an IS member…”

  10. ISIS annihilated: 45,000 jihadis killed in war on terror (but just 3 US troops have died) (express, Aug 11, 2016)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/698980/End-ISIS-45000-jihadis-killed-Operation-Inherent-Resolve

“TENS of thousands of Islamic Sate jihadis have been slaughtered during the West’s campaign to destroy the terror group, according to a top US defence official.

Two years of fighting against ISIS has left the militia army’s ranks with barely a quarter of the men it once boasted.

ISIS militants now number around 15,000, down from a high of 60,000 at the extremist group’s peak.

Senior US commander Lieutenant General Sean MacFarland said he was “100 per cent certain” that ISIS would be wiped out entirely as a political force but stopped short of predicting how long the campaign would last.

He said: “I am 100 per cent certain that Daesh [ISIS] will be eliminated as a governing entity in Iraq and Syria.

“As far as how far away it is…I’m reluctant to make estimates of how long it can take.”

The Baghdad-based head of Operation Inherent Resolve – the name for America’s military intervention against ISIS – said that after sustained attacks on the Islamist death cult, ISIS now “doesn’t put up as much of a fight”.

More than 25,000 enemy fighters have been killed in the last year, adding to the 20,000 death toll in the previous year, meaning some 45,000 jihadis have been slaughtered during the conflict.

In a telling sign of the asymmetric warfare being waged against ISIS, just three US servicemen died in combat during the same period.

Master Sergeant Joshua Wheeler died last October while carrying out a rescue mission for prisoners held in an ISIS prison.

Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Louis Cardin died from gunshot wounds when his battalion came under enemy fire in Iraq in March.

And Navy Petty Officer First Class Charles Keating died in May while advising Kurdish troops in a battle against 125 ISIS militants holed up in northern Iraq.

The death toll for the Iraqi army and Syrian anti-ISIS fighters have been far higher, but the latest figures point firmly to ISIS being on the back foot.

Lt Gen MacFarland said: “There’s no question that our strikes have enabled the liberation of more than 25,000 total square kilometres from Daesh.

“That’s nearly half of what the enemy once controlled in Iraq and 20 percent of what they once controlled in Syria.”

Hopes are growing that the terror group is facing imminent wipe out in vast swathes of Iraq and Syria.

Among the high profile strikes was the destruction of at least half a billion dollars hidden in 25 separate cash stores.

Bombing raids have also reduced the group’s oil revenues by half.

The military operation has now moved from “stalemate” a year ago to a point where the momentum was now on the side of the anti-ISIS coalition, the general said.

He added: “You don’t hear the word “stalemate” anymore.

“We spend more time thinking about what we will do to the enemy than we spend thinking about what the enemy might do to us.””

“Firefighters are searching for at least seven missing people after a large explosion ripped through an apartment building in a Maryland suburb of Washington.

At least 31 people, including three firefighters, have been injured. Residents are reported to have suffered burns from the blaze and fractures from jumping out of windows.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service say first responders were called to scene in Silver Spring just before midnight on Wednesday.

It is believed 28 units have been impacted and almost 100 people were forced to leave their homes after being woken up by the blast.

Montgomery County Fire Chief Scott Goldstein said those inside the building were desperately trying to escape…”

  12. Still want to go on holiday to France? British tourists flee in terror as wildfires spread across the south of the country (after a summer of strikes, terror alerts and football violence) (dailymail, Aug 11, 2016)
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3734382/It-s-disaster-area-British-tourists-flee-wildfires-spread-south-France-high-winds-set-make-worse.html

“British holidaymakers have been caught up in ‘out of control’ wildfires in the south of France as homes were gutted and the blaze spread towards Marseille.

‘It is an absolute disaster area,’ said David Roper, a 46-year-old Englishman in the area on holiday with his wife and two young children.

‘Roads are being closed and we are being told to start heading north. There are apparently some very strong winds whipping up the flames, and it could get worse. We’re getting out,’ he said.

One resident of the town of Vitrolles told BFM-TV: ‘Everything burned, the house, the car…there is nothing left.’

Stéphane Poyau, from the French firefighters’ union, SNSPP-PATS, told Mail Online: ‘When it is so dry and the wind is 80 to 100 kilometres hour it is impossible to stop the fire. All you can do is slow it down and try to protect buildings and people.’

Mr Poyau, who advises on civil protection in Europe, said the only natural way a fire can start is through lightning strikes and in the absence of them the fires near Marseille could only have begun by accident or through a deliberate act.

He said there had been some speculation that terrorists could have been possible but he said that was ‘highly unlikely’…”

  13. Germany: ‘Banning burqas constitutionally problematic’ – de Maiziere

German Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere ruled out banning the burqa in Germany during a press conference in Berlin, Wednesday, saying it would be “constitutionally problematic” and instead unveiled a package of increased security measures to counter radical extremism on home soil.

“I think that a general ban of the burqa is constitutionally problematic. This is likely to fall under the responsibility of the federal states. You cannot ban everything you oppose, and I oppose the wearing of a burqa,” de Maiziere stated.

SOT, Thomas de Maiziere, Interior Minister of Germany (German): “I think that a general ban of the burqa is constitutionally problematic. This is likely to fall under the responsibility of the federal states. You cannot ban everything you oppose, and I oppose the wearing of a burqa.”

SOT, Thomas de Maiziere, Interior Minister of Germany (German): “Good integration policies go hand in hand with good security policies. Apart from early language learning skills we also want to boost social care for refugees. Many people are traumatised due to the circumstances and reasons for their fleeing or are in need for intensive care for other reasons. We also want to boost the social skills of teachers working in social counseling for refugees. We also want to create an entity which refugees can turn to in their own language, when for instance realising psychological changes in the behaviour of their fellows. In this way, refugees can distance themselves even more from violence and religious radicalism.”

SOT, Thomas de Maiziere, Interior Minister of Germany (German): “Finally I want to suggest to strip German citizens holding a dual citizenship of their German citizenship in case they fight abroad for a terrorist organisation.”

    • In the USA, a judge ruled that a protester in Chicago can’t have his face covered so that anonymous protest is against the law. Imagine that; a US judiciary that opposes unknown protesters simply presenting a political point of view so that they can be photographed and IDed by intelligence services. This was against some people demonstrating against Iran. So I guess wearing those “Guy Falks” V for Vendetta masks is out the window…

      • Yes and no, that was one Appeals Court Judge so his ruling applies only to that judicial district. Another court ruled that the KKK can wear masks whey they demostrate and some state laws that forbid masks during demonstrations are being challanged in Federal Court. It will probably take close to a decade (maybe less but probably that long) before the various cases go through the appeals process and they reach the Supreme Court.

  14. USA: ‘Am I not speaking English?’ State Dept infuriates reporters over Clinton emails

Director of the US State Department’s press office, Elizabeth Trudeau, had a hard time answering a storm of questions concerning newly published emails detailing the department’s connections with wealthy donors of Bill Clinton’s foundation during Hillary Clinton’s time as secretary of state, in Washington D.C. on Thursday.

In one question related to the relationship between the Clinton Foundation and the State Department, Trudeau made clear that she would not discuss specific emails. “I’m not going to speak to specific emails,” she said.

    • Oil, Drugs And Militants: Controlling Turkey’s Syrian Border

The recent spate of ISIS-inspired terror attacks in Turkey and subsequent attempted coup, combined with foreign fighters’ incessant attempts to enter ISIS’s shrinking territory have kept Turkey’s border with Syria, once dubbed a “jihadist highway”, at the forefront of regional security issues. Has Ankara responded adequately to the international community’s demands to bring its 911-kilometer border with Assad’s regime under control, or are smuggling and border crossings by militants a continuing threat?

      Gasoline smuggling

Earlier this year, gasoline smuggling from Turkey to Syria received international attention after Russia accused the Turkish government of facilitating contraband routes across the Syrian border. While gasoline smuggling has long been a contentious issue in the region, the illicit practice appears to be declining. According to figures from Turkey’s Office for Combatting Smuggling and Organized Crime, only 4.33 million liters were seized in 2015, compared with 13.7 million in 2014; these numbers represent a 70 percent year-over-year decrease. Nonetheless, gasoline smugglers are continuing the illicit practice. Using industrial drilling machines, they continue to install pipes 5-10 meters under the border to facilitate smuggling.

      Narcotics

As drug smuggling — particularly of an amphetamine called Captagon — continues to play a major role in financing armed groups in Syria, the illicit practice has emerged as a major threat to border security. Smugglers continue to find increasingly sophisticated methods of smuggling the pills into Turkey for further distribution into traditional consumer bases in the Persian Gulf. An April 2016 seizure in the border region of Hatay, for example, yielded over half a metric ton of the drug. Hidden inside pipes, the stash had previously gone undetected by drug-sniffing dogs. One month later in the same region, two law enforcement operations led to the discovery of over 3 million Captagon tablets.

      Fortress on the border

In 2015, approximately 910 militants were caught crossing the Syrian border into Turkey. This number is modestly lower than the 992 militants captured in 2014, according to figures from the Turkish Armed Forces (TAF). In an effort to decrease militant border-crossings, the TAF has already spent 300 million Lira implementing a project dubbed the “Syria Physical Border Security System,” which aims to seal off the 911-kilometer frontier through a combination of concrete walls, watchtowers, observation blimps, flood-lamps, ditches and drones alongside the border. In order to prevent militants from entering Turkey via standard routes, the government created a database of individuals banned from entering the country due to alleged ties to militant groups. According to a parliamentary statement by Turkey’s Interior Minister, the database currently contains 41,000 names.

Despite hardened security measures, a recent incident has caused many to question the extent to which Ankara has abandoned efforts to support anti-Assad foreign fighters operating in Syria. Secret files signed by the assistant governor of Agri, a region in Turkey’s east that borders Iran, were leaked in early May 2016, exposing that 19 foreign fighters were given medical treatment at a refugee holding center. This incident has since been brought up by opposition members of Parliament.

Even if Turkey succeeds in sealing the border, Ankara faces the challenge of dealing with the substantial number of Turkish fighters currently fighting on the ground in Syria. Files from Turkish federal police that were leaked to the national newspaper Cumhuriyet estimated that 2,750 Salafi Turks have gone to fight in Syria since April 2011. Approximately 750 of these Turks are currently fighting for ISIS, and 130 remain in the ranks of the al-Nusra Front.

      Money flows

Despite the militarization of Turkish border security, money continues to move from Turkish banks and organizations across the Syrian border into the hands of armed groups. These illicit financial flows pose serious risks to financial institutions and companies with a footprint in the region.

A group of Syrian Christians is suing Kuwait-Turkey Participation Bank, a Turkish financial institution founded with Kuwaiti capital, for facilitating terror financing through a foundation called the Islami Sam Heyeti Dernegi (Islamic Damascus Committee Association). A Kuwaiti named Hajjaj al-Ajmi, who has been designated by the Department of the Treasury as a terror financier, encouraged his followers to donate to the foundation through the bank.

At the same time, IHH, a conservative Turkish Islamic humanitarian relief organization, is being investigated in the United States. Authorities suspect IHH of establishing shell companies in the Balkans for the purpose of purchasing weapons to ship to Islamist rebels in Syria. Additional allegations suspect IHH of recruiting willing fighters from Muslim communities in the North Caucasus for the struggle against Assad’s regime. At the same time, multiple Turkish state ministers and government foundations openly supported and raised money for the organization’s activities in Syria.

Even as the Turkish state militarizes border security and gets a handle on gasoline smuggling, the unrelenting flow of narcotics, foreign fighters, and illicit funds across the Syrian border are a persistent threat to international security and will remain so as long as the conflict to Turkey’s south smolders.

Ambassador Bolton on Hillary: “There’s Something Here We Don’t Know About – I’ve Never Seen it Before” (VIDEO)

The former UN Ambassador said “there’s something here we don’t know about” with Hillary Clinton’s fragile health that we’re not being told.

Lou Dobbs: The man, ostensibly a Secret Service agent, we have found out subsequently that he’s a medical doctor who was there apparently attending to the Democratic nominee. Your reaction on what you saw and whether or not it suggests that we need to know far more about her medical condition.

Ambassador John Bolton: Well, I’ve never seen anything like it before. I mean, presidential candidates are confronted with hecklers and demonstrators in their audiences all the time. And quite properly we ask the Secret Service to do what’s necessary to protect them. But I’ve never seen a stage manager come on to a stage like that directing agents around. If he wasn’t Secret Service who was he to tell these people, agents clearly, to move away and let the speech continue. There’s something here we don’t know about and I said I’ve never seen it before.

  16. Terrorist’s Dad Says He Was Invited to Clinton Event

(Breitbart) – How did Seddique Mateen, the father of the Orlando terrorist who attacked a gay nightclub killing 50 people, end up on stage directly behind Hillary Clinton?

The Clinton campaign has not pinned the blame on a campaign staffer, but rather feigned ignorance about Mateen’s presence at a rally in Kissimmee, Florida — just 30 minutes from the Pulse nightclub.

“This individual wasn’t invited as a guest, and the campaign was unaware of his attendance until after the event,” a Clinton campaign official said in an email to reporters.

  17. Christians Forced to Hide Bibles Amid Migrant Muslim Death Threats

Bundestag member Erika Steinbach and Iranian-born pastor Mahin Mousapour called for much stronger sanctions for Muslims who abuse Christians in Germany at a press conference on Monday.

Highlighting the fact Christians suffer violence, harassment, and death threats in migrant lodgings, Ms. Mousapour criticised Germany for granting Islam “too much respect”. Declaring anti-Christian hate attacks an affront to German values, politician Erika Steinbach advocated the government deport migrants who insult or attack Christians.

At the press conference Ms. Mousapour, who converted to Christianity more than 25 years ago, reported that Christians face various forms of persecution in migrant housing.

  18. Compromised: Justice Dept. Refused FBI Probe of Clinton Foundation
“See no evil” ought to be the motto of the Obama administration.

The highly politicized Department of Justice swatted down pesky FBI requests to investigate the Clinton Foundation earlier this year, CNN reported yesterday.

CNN buried the lede, as it frequently does on news stories that make Democrats look bad. The online version bears the innocuous-sounding headline, “Newly released Clinton emails shed light on relationship between State Dept. and Clinton Foundation.”

It is not until the 25th paragraph that the article states that an unidentified law enforcement official gave CNN a heads-up earlier this year. As the probe of Clinton’s private email servers was ramping up “several FBI field offices approached the Justice Department asking to open a case regarding the relationship between the State Department and the Clinton Foundation.”

At that time, the article continues, the Justice Department “declined because it had looked into allegations surrounding the Clinton Foundation around a year earlier and found there wasn’t sufficient evidence to open a case.”

Not even enough evidence to look into the foundation’s affairs?

Six long-range Tu-22M3s (NATO reporting name: Blinder) took off from airfields in Russia and, having passed through the airspace of several countries, attacked Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorist installations southeast, north, and northwest of the city of Raqqa.

    • Syria: Syrian Army and Hezbollah launch counter-offensive in Aleppo

Syrian armed forces and Hezbollah units launched a counter-offensive in the southern districts of Aleppo on Thursday.

Syrian troops and their allies attacked several points in the Al-Ramouseh District of southern Aleppo that are under the control of Jaysh Al-Fateh (Army of Conquest).

Sites that came under attack include the 1070 Al-Hamdaniyah Housing Project, Wassout Al-Jabless, Tal Al-Sanoubrat, and a cement factory. The counter-offensive on the ground is operating in tandem with Russian air strikes aimed at militant targets.

    • Turkey offers Russia joint operations against Islamic State in Syria

Turkey has called on Russia to carry out joint operations against Islamic State (IS) militants in Syria, after crucial talks between President Vladimir Putin and Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan aimed at ending the crisis.

“We will discuss all the details. We have always called on Russia to carry out anti-Daesh [IS] operations together,” Turkey’s Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said in a live television interview, adding that the proposal was still “on the table”.

Mr Cavusoglu urged Russia to fight against the “common enemy” of IS jihadists in Syria.

“Let’s fight against the terrorist group together, so that we can clear it out as soon as possible,” the minister said, warning otherwise that the group would keep on expanding and spread into other countries.

Mr Erdogan visited Russia’s second city of Saint Petersburg on Tuesday — his first trip abroad since the July 15 coup attempt.

It was also his first direct meeting with Mr Putin since the shooting-down of a Russian fighter jet by Turkish air forces on the Syrian border in November that caused unprecedented damage to relations.

NATO member Turkey was long criticised by its Western partners for not playing a full role in the fight against IS, but upped its involvement last year by offering US forces use of an air base for raids against the group.

Turkey has also carried out air and artillery strikes against IS of its own, although it is believed to have halted the operations in the wake of the Russian plane incident.

Mr Cavusoglu said close cooperation between Turkey and Russia would help prevent incidents in the future like the plane crisis.

“Many countries are engaged in Syria actively. There could be mistakes,” he said.

“In order to prevent that, we need to put into practice the solidarity and cooperation (mechanism) between us including sharing of real time intelligence.”

He also said real time communication was also needed between the two presidents and the military officials of the two countries.

U.S. would welcome Turkish-Russian military cooperation against Islamic State

The United States would welcome Turkish-Russian military cooperation in Syria if it were truly designed to target Islamic State, State Department spokeswoman Elizabeth Trudeau said in a press briefing on Thursday.

“We have been very clear that if is Russia really interested in taking the fight to ISIL, to combating a terror threat that frankly involves the entire global community, we would welcome their interest on that,” Trudeau said, referring to Islamic State by an acronym. She was commenting on media reports of proposed Turkish-Russian military cooperation in Syria.

  20. Fact Check: Is Trump Correct to Call Obama and Hillary the Founders of ISIS?
    August 11, 2016
    Daniel Greenfield

Donald Trump has said of Obama, “he’s the founder of ISIS”. He stated that Hillary is a co-founder of ISIS. The remarks have touched off anger from certain media outlets, but is it true or not?

The organization we currently know as ISIS had earlier incarnations, but it adopted its current name in response to its growing successes in the Arab Spring which was heavily backed and championed by Obama and Hillary. The expansion of ISIS in the Arab Spring functionally turned it into a very different organization. It not only temporarily succeeded in creating its Caliphate, but it went from a marginal terror group to a microstate controlling cities, large populations and winning the allegiance of Islamic terror groups around the world. And it was able to carry out terror attacks in America.

This was a fundamental change in its structure and its identity. It is therefore accurate to peg the transformation of ISIS as the starting point of the group we know today rather than its earlier far more weaker incarnations.

There is no escaping the fact that ISIS is intertwined with the Arab Spring and that the organization as we know it today would not have become the threat that it did without it.

There is also no denying the fact that Obama and Hillary’s backing for the Arab Spring, along with that of the media, proved crucial in overturning friendly regimes and bringing Islamists to power across the region leading to chaos and terror.

We might quibble over what the term “founder” exactly means, but there is no denying that ISIS, as we know it today, rose as a direct consequence of Obama and Hillary’s support for Islamists.

ISIS is the consequence of their pro-Islamic policies brought to life. And that too cannot be denied. From Benghazi to Baghdad, the wages of the left’s support for Islamic theocracy has been terror and death.

  21. Forget Motivation, Focus on Reason Why West is Losing against Islam
Yes, there are only fools and liars defending Islam.
    August 11, 2016
    Raymond Ibrahim

The most efficient way of solving a problem is to first break it down to its simplest parts—its bare-bone elements.

This was the ultimate point of a recent article where I asserted that:

When it comes to the connection between Islam and violence against non-Muslims, one fact must be embraced: the majority of those in positions of leadership and authority in the West are either liars or fools, or both.

    No other alternative exists.

Both in the comments section on my site as well as those of other websites that carried the article, and through emails, many begged to differ. They argued that there are other alternatives and my distinction—fool, liar, or both—is too simple.

Some argue that those Western leaders who refuse to connect Islam to violence and terrorism are simply being “politically correct,” or are “cowards,” or are bought-and-paid-for “traitors,” or are worried about their careers, or are intentionally trying to defuse a potential world conflict, i.e., “clash of civilizations.”

  22. Black Lives Matter Demands Freedom for Killers of Black and White Cops
    August 11, 2016
    Daniel Greenfield

The Black Nationalist hate group Black Lives Matter released its agenda. Among its demands for reparations and a tax on air, not to mention an end to automation, it demands freedom for cop killers.

The “political power” part of the agenda demands, “We are calling for the release of all political prisoners held in the U.S. and the removal of legitimate freedom fighters from the International Terrorists list.”

These “freedom fighters” are black nationalist terrorists who include Assata Shakur. And the racist hate group’s demands explicitly call for her release and the release of other racist black nationalist cop killers.

Removal of Assata Shakur from international terrorist lists.

Rescind the bounty on the head of Assata Shakur

?Shakur helped murder New Jersey State Trooper Werner Foerster. Black Lives Matter is advocating for this cop killer as well as other members of the racist Black Liberation Army terror group.

The Black Liberation Army was a violent, radical group that attempted to fight for independence from the United States government in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s. The BLA was responsible for the murders of more than 10 police officers around the country. They were also responsible for violent attacks around the country that left many police officers wounded.

    • This is the group the far left in European nations is importing. Another hate group to tear down European civilization.

  23. Tim Kaine: A Radical Leftist Wrapped Inside a ‘Moderate’
A look at the philosophy and agendas of the Democrat VP candidate.

When Hillary Clinton picked Virginia Senator Tim Kaine as her VP running mate, the media largely portrayed him as a middle-of-the-road candidate who would give the Democrat ticket a centrist orientation. The Washington Post cited Kaine’s “relatively moderate persona.” USA Today said he “is considered a safe pick — a swing-state moderate who appeals to independent voters.” And the New York Times referenced Kaine’s “credentials as a moderate.”

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Kaine strongly favors government-enforced affirmative-action policies designed to favor nonwhites and women in hiring and college admissions practices; a steeply progressive income-tax structure where high earners pay disproportionately high rates; and the implementation of a pathway-to-citizenship for illegal aliens. Moreover, he believes that Voter ID laws make it unnecessarily difficult for people to vote in political elections; that campaign finance reforms should be instituted to reduce the influence of money in elections; that the principle of separation-of-church-and-state makes school prayer, government funding for religious organizations, and the posting of the Ten Commandments in public places impermissible; that the use of vouchers for school choice constitutes bad public policy; and that the nationalization of banks and corporations is more appropriate than government bailouts of those entities when they fail economically.

Kaine’s position on the Iran nuclear deal is exactly what you would expect from a dyed-in-the-wool leftist. Early last year, Kaine objected strenuously when Republican House Speaker John Boehner invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to speak to Congress about the gravity of the growing Iranian nuclear threat and his “profound disagreement” with the negotiated deal that the Obama Administration was pursuing with Iran. Kaine joined seven other Senate Democrats in boycotting Netanyahu’s speech. That summer, Kaine declared himself a “strong supporter” of the final agreement, which would allow the Islamist regime in Tehran to enrich uranium, build advanced centrifuges, purchase ballistic missiles, fund terrorism, and be guaranteed of having a near-zero breakout time to the development of a nuclear bomb approximately a decade down the road.

Kaine’s positions on immigration and refugee policy are just as predictably repugnant. In May 2015, Kaine was one of 14 U.S. senators who wrote a letter to President Barack Obama urging him to allow 65,000 people from war-torn, terrorism-ravaged Syria into the United States as refugees, despite many people’s concern that terrorists could potentially infiltrate the refugee program.

Later in 2015, Kaine opposed a bill passed by the House of Representatives that would have required more careful vetting of Syrians and Iraqis before they could be admitted to the United States as refugees. “These refugees are people who are terrorized, not terrorists,” Kaine said in a November 2015 interview wherein he claimed that “the refugee vetting process is one of the safest areas that we have.” In a speech on the Senate floor the following month, Kaine said: “I look at this refugee crisis as a test … about whether we, like [the biblical] Job, will be true to our principles or whether we’ll abandon them.” He also urged his fellow legislators to emulate the example of the 17th-century “Indians down near Jamestown Island” who had helped starving English settlers to survive by offering “an extension of a hand to strangers in a strange land.”

All told, Kaine ranks among the most left-wing political figures in the United States today. He is the only person with a 0% Lifetime Rating from the American Conservative Union (ACU), which has graded Members of Congress based on their votes on issues important to conservatives each year since 1971. Similarly, ConservativeReview.com gives Kaine a 0% rating.

Another wrinkle in Kaine’s resume is the fact that over the course of his political career, he has developed close ties to numerous Islamists:

  24. Pope Francis and the Decline of the West
The pope of the Roman Catholic Church should be its greatest advocate. But because of leftism, he isn’t.
    August 11, 2016
    Dennis Prager

Pope Francis made comments last week that reveal the most important single thing you need to know about the modern world: The most dynamic religion of the last hundred years has been leftism. Not Christianity, and not Islam, but leftism.

Leftism has taken over the world’s leading educational institutions, the world’s news media and the world’s popular entertainment, and it has influenced Christianity (and Judaism) far more than Christianity (or Judaism) has influenced anything.

On July 26, two Muslims slit the throat of a French Roman Catholic priest, the Rev. Jacques Hamel, 85, while he was saying Mass in his church.

Five days later, during his flight returning to Rome from World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland, Pope Francis gave a press conference. He was asked about the French priest and Islam by Antoine-Marie Izoard, a journalist with I.Media, a French Catholic news agency. Izoard said:

“Catholics are in a state of shock — and not only in France — following the barbaric assassination of Father Jacques Hamel in his church while he was celebrating Holy Mass. Four days ago … you told us once again that all religions want peace. But this holy priest, eighty-six years old, was clearly killed in the name of Islam. So I have two brief questions, Holy Father. When you speak of these violent acts, why do you always speak of terrorists but not of Islam? … And then, … what concrete initiative can you launch or perhaps suggest in order to combat Islamic violence?”

  25. Israel ordered to pay Iran roughly $1.1 billion in oil pipeline dispute dating back to 1960s; unclear whether Israel will cite own law in refusing Swiss court’s ruling –

Swiss court backs Iran in decades-old oil row with Israel

Switzerland’s highest court has ordered Israel to pay Iran around $1.1 billion (CHF1.07 billion) plus interest in a decades-old dispute over a secretive oil pipeline company. The dispute predates the 1979 Islamic revolution, which made the two countries enemies.

The Swiss Federal Court in Lausanne rejected an appeal, citing lack of due process, against an arbitration ruling last year. The verdict, dated June 27, was available on the court’s website.

It also awarded Iran CHF450,000 ($460,000) in court costs and lawyer fees, Reuters news agency reported on Thursday.

It remains unclear whether Israel will pay up given restrictions in its “trading with the enemy” laws.

Lawyers for each side had been locked in an arbitration over the Eilat-Ashkelon Pipeline Co (EAPC), a joint venture set up in 1968, when the two nations were friendly, to transport Iranian oil to the Mediterranean.

For a decade, the pipeline successfully carried oil from the Red Sea for export to Europe. But since the Islamic revolution, which brought the ayatollahs to power, Iran has been demanding its share of the revenues and assets that remained in Israel.

Since the partnership collapsed, EAPC has grown into a complex of energy assets, now mostly handling oil from former Soviet states.

How much profit it has made or how much it is worth is unknown, largely because it is protected in a similar way to Israel’s intelligence agencies, including by gag orders restricting coverage of its activities.

But Tehran, setting aside its decades-old refusal to recognise Israel’s right to exist, had determined to recoup its part of EAPC and pursued a complex arbitration case since 1994, first in France and then in Switzerland.

In that time, the company has become the largest distributor of oil in Israel, with ambitions to become a major hub for energy trading in the Mediterranean. Israel maintains tight controls over EAPC.
    Enemies overnight

The company has its roots in the 1967 Middle East war, when Egypt blocked the Suez Canal, making it impossible for Iran to transport its oil by tanker to Europe. Under the EAPC deal, Iranian tankers would unload at the Red Sea port of Eilat and oil would flow 254km (158 miles) northwest to Ashkelon.

The countries formed a straw company in Halifax, Canada called APC Holdings, the primary shareholder in EAPC. By December 1969, the pipeline was ready to handle 60 million tons of crude a year, though it never reached that level.

A decade later, Iran’s Shah was ousted and the partners in EAPC became enemies overnight.

Reuters said lawyers for both countries had declined to comment.

  28. France calls on public to house refugees as asylum centers reach bursting point (RT, Aug 11, 2016)
    https://www.rt.com/news/355574-france-refugees-homes-private/

“The French government wants members of the public to take in refugees because there is no room left at the country’s asylum centers. The authorities are even offering financial handouts to charities which actively engage in finding accommodation.

The sheer numbers of migrants entering France has forced many to sleep out on the streets because refugee centers do not have enough beds to house everyone.

That has led the government to come up with a plan to try and get members of the public to take in refugees who have nowhere to go. The idea is being championed by Housing Minister Emmanuelle Cosse, who understands that something needs to be done given the sheer number of refugees in need of accommodation.

“By the end of September, we will more than double the capacity of the refugee centers, from 2,000 to 5,000 beds,” she told Le Monde, adding that all major cities across the country had accepted the move.

The housing minister also mentioned that a further 50 centers would be built in addition to the current 147 accommodation units that are in use.

The government is also willing to give financial incentives to charities which help to find housing for migrants. The authorities are willing to give €1,500 (US$1,675) per refugee every year, if a charity manages to find homes for 50 or more refugees. However, this will only apply to those people who have been registered as refugees.

Those looking to engage in the scheme have to commit for at least five months and must give the refugee a private room, while the system is aimed to be up and running by October.

The matter is particularly pressing in Paris and some charities have already engaged in trying to find private accommodation. The system of giving shelter to refugees has seen 15,000 housed between August 2015 and July 2016. However, the capital is unable to cope with the sheer numbers of new arrivals.

Around 50 to 60 people are coming to Paris every day, however only between 80 and 100 beds become available every week, as people leave to go into shelters or move to a different area of the country.

One woman, who wished to remain anonymous, spoke to the Local about her experiences of housing a refugee in Paris for five months, calling it “a genuinely positive experience.”

“I now have a friend from a background I would never have come across in my day-to-day life,” she said, adding that they would often share meals and discussions.

“It gave me a chance to personalize a faceless issue that confronts us almost daily. I have an intimate understanding of the reasons he left, the risks he took to get to Europe and the determination he has to fit in and stay.”

However, the woman admitted that there were problems, citing the language barrier as a particular hurdle that had to be overcome, while also adding that people looking to enter into the scheme needed to be committed.

“Language was probably the biggest barrier. Even though he had French lessons three days per week, communication was not always easy. Sometimes it required extra concentration which could be difficult after a long day at work,” the woman said.

Not everyone is happy about the proposed plan. The vice president of the far-right National Front Party, Florian Philippot, hit out at the move on Twitter.

“This move by Emmanuelle Cosse regarding migrants confirms the dangerous path that the puppets of Brussels are leading us down.”

Philippot was referring to the quota plan, which has been introduced by the EU for countries within the bloc to house refugees. The number of refugees in France is expected to rise to 30,000 by 2017 as the country takes its share of the quota set by the EU.”

  32. Muslim women victims of ‘institutional racism’ (gulfnews, Aug 11, 2016)
    http://gulfnews.com/news/europe/uk/muslim-women-victims-of-institutional-racism-1.1877738

“London: Women who wear the hijab at job interviews in the UK are being actively discriminated against as part of the ‘institutional racism’ Muslims face, a group of MPs warned on Thursday.

A report by the Commons Women and Equalities Committee has revealed that Muslim women are the most economically disadvantaged group in British society, adding that they are three times more likely to be unemployed and looking for a job than women generally and more than twice as likely to be economically inactive.

Highly qualified women are often being overlooked because of assumptions they are ‘submissive and weak’, with some feeling they have no option but to abandon traditional Islamic dress in order to get a job, according to the report, which is titled Employment Opportunities for Muslims in the UK.

Committee chair Maria Miller said: “The evidence was very strong that … it was seen as acceptable to discriminate against Muslim women and that [people] almost didn’t see it as discrimination.

“You can’t have some women more equal than others. Everybody is subject to the same law in this country and Muslim women can choose to dress in the way that they want in the same way that other women can and shouldn’t have to suffer discrimination as a result of it.

“One of the young women who gave evidence to us told the committee in an informal sitting that she had decided not to wear a headscarf and was struck by the different way she was treated both by people she didn’t know but also people she knew.

“There is a distinct level of institutional racism that is being endured by Muslim women and we must be open about that.”

The report, which has called for urgent action by the government, suggested the biggest cause of the ‘acute’ disadvantage Muslim women face in UK society is their religion.

“The impact of Islamophobia on Muslim women should not be underestimated,” it said.

“They are 71 per cent more likely than white Christian women to be unemployed, even when they have the same educational level and language skills.”

The committee noted that Muslims as a whole faced the highest level of unemployment of all religious and ethnic groups, at 12.8 per cent compared with 5.4 per cent for the general population.

The report also said that the government’s conflation of integration with counter-terrorism has exacerbated the inequalities felt by Britism Muslims, leading to a breakdown in trust that left some individuals reluctant to talk to the inquiry.

Omar Al Hamdoun, deputy secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain (MCB), told Gulf News: “We welcome this report as it identifies there are positive contributions made by Muslims in British society, while it also highlights some important issues that need to be tackled and makes some good recommendations. We hope the government takes them on board.”

Responding to the report, a spokeswoman said: “The government is committed to making Britain a country that works for everyone. We want all people, regardless of their faith or gender, to have access to the same opportunities so that they can reach their full potential.

“We are making progress — for example, there are now 45 per cent more Muslim women in work than in 2011 — but we know there is much more to do.

“We will look carefully at the recommendations and respond in due course.””

“One of the three British schoolgirls who made headlines last year when they fled their London homes to find husbands in the Daesh extremist group is believed to have been killed by a Russian airstrike, a British television channel reported Thursday.

The ITV News channel also said that the schoolgirl — Kadiza Sultana, 17 — had become “disillusioned with life in the medieval terror state” and had been planning to return to Britain.
Kadiza is believed to have been in a residential building in Raqqa, the Daesh’s de facto capital in northeast Syria, when it was hit in May by a bomb thought to have been dropped by a Russian warplane, ITV said in an article on its website.

ITV said its report was based on communications with her relatives in east London, with unidentified contacts in Raqqa and with a lawyer for her family, Tasnime Akunjee, who it said had been helping to work on an escape plan for her.

The channel’s report said her family had been “informed of Kadiza’s reported death by other people in Raqqa and confirmed details in a statement to ITV News”.

It quoted her sister, Halima, as saying: “We were expecting this, in a way. But at least we know she is in a better place.”

“Staff at Center Sandholm, Denmark’s largest asylum centre, have suspicions that young refugee boys are being prostituted, Berlingske reported.

Jannich Bisp, a supervisor at the centre, told the newspaper that concerns have been raised about a group of teenage boys.

“There are situations in which the boys receive a phone call, take off for a few hours and then come back with designer clothes,” Bisp said.

“We are worried about where the boys are getting the money,” he added.

The concerns at Center Sandholm, located some 30 kilometres north of Copenhagen, came to light after the Swedish newspaper Sydsvenkan reported similar stories about refugee children at the Aleris Asylum Center in Malmö. There too officials said that the young asylum seekers would get phone calls, disappear for a few hours and then return with money or new clothes.

At Sandholm, personnel say that there have been a few occasions in which the teenage boys have reported sexual abuse but the teens left the centre before any action could be taken…”

    • There was a civil suit filed to have the Clinton Foundation ruled a criminal organization and have the Racketeering and corrupt organization laws seize all of its assets. I think the Judge is still hearing the Clinton Lawyers arguments to dismiss the suit.

      • Obama has put everyone in the chain of command in fear of loosing their jobs if they give him reports that don’t say what he wants them to say. Look at how Stephen Coughlin was forced out of the Army for teaching the facts about Islam. After Coughlin and others were fired by Obama the less brave decided not to risk their career by telling the truth. A lot of good men and women are going to die because the voters in the US were stupid enough and in some cases crooked enough to elect Obama. The jury is still out on whether or not we are stupid or crooked enough to elect Hillary.

    • This is why Obama purged so many good officers and NCO’s and put “politically reliable” people in their place. The purpose is to ensure that Hillary is elected President so the damage dong to the US won’t be reversed.

  35. Muslims sue Sterling Heights after city rejected mosque

U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Michigan and the Department of Justice are investigating whether a proposed mosque was treated fairly by Sterling Heights government

The leaders of an Islamic center filed a lawsuit Wednesday against Sterling Heights after the city last year rejected their plans to build a mosque that was strongly opposed by many residents.

And the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Michigan announced that her office and the Department of Justice are investigating whether the mosque was treated fairly.

In the federal lawsuit, the American Islamic Community Center accuses the city of being biased against Muslims, citing e-mails from city officials that talked about getting someone to investigate the possibility of the mosque’s leaders being terrorists. In one e-mail, a police official asks whether the FBI can be contacted to see whether the mosque leaders are “on their radar.”

Last year, the planning commission of Sterling Heights voted 9-0 to reject building a mosque on 15 Mile between Ryan and Mound roads. City officials and residents have said their rejection was not based on bigotry, noting that the city already has a mosque, but over concerns that the location was not suitable for such a large building and could cause traffic problems.

  36. Man Who Planned New Year’s Eve ISIS Attack Pleads Guilty

A New York man accused of planning an ISIS inspired New Year’s Eve machete attack in Rochester pleaded guilty in federal court Thursday and faces up to 20 years in prison, the Department of Justice said.

Emanuel L. Lutchman, 26, planned to kill diners at a local restaurant last New Year’s Eve before he was arrested Dec. 30, authorities have said. Some of the people he’d discussed the attack with were working with the FBI.

Lutchman pleaded guilty to a single count of conspiracy to provide material support to a terrorist organization and faces up to 20 years in prison and lifetime supervised release when he is sentenced on Nov. 15, the federal government said.

Lutchman was allegedly in online contact with a reputed ISIS member in Syria, who urged him to kill non-Muslims on the holiday, authorities have alleged. The terror plot prompted Rochester to cancel its fireworks show and take other precautions.

Lutchman’s father told NBC News in January that his son has had mental health issues for some time and had been in and out of jail. Omar Lutchman said his son was raised Christian but converted to Islam while in jail, and is easily impressionable.

The ISIS member that Lutchman was in contact with, Abu Issa Al-Amriki, has since died, the Department of Justice said. A defector from the terror group told the New York Times that ISIS prefers to recruit Americans for terror attacks through social media and other online communications.

    • New York Man Pleads Guilty to Conspiracy to Provide Material Support to ISIL in Connection with Planned New Year’s Eve Attack

Emanuel L. Lutchman, 26, of Rochester, New York, pleaded guilty today to conspiracy to provide material support to the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL).

Assistant Attorney General for National Security John P. Carlin, U.S. Attorney William J. Hochul Jr. of the Western District of New York and Special Agent in Charge Adam S. Cohen of the FBI’s Buffalo, New York Division made the announcement.

Lutchman pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci Jr. of the Western District of New York. He has been detained in federal custody since his arrest by members of the FBI’s Rochester Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF) on Dec. 30, 2015. Sentencing is scheduled for Nov. 15, 2016, before Judge Geraci, where Lutchman faces a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and a lifetime term of supervised release. The maximum statutory sentence is prescribed by Congress and is provided here for informational purposes. The sentencing of the defendant will be determined by the court based on the advisory Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors.

“Emanuel Lutchman admitted to conspiring with an ISIL member located overseas and planned to kill innocent civilians on U.S. soil in the name of the terrorist organization,” said Assistant Attorney General Carlin. “Countering terrorist threats remains the highest priority of the National Security Division, and we will continue our efforts to bring to justice those who conspire to provide material support to foreign terrorist organizations. I want to thank the many agents, analysts and prosecutors who contributed to the disruption of this deadly plot.”

“Residents of this community can now sleep better knowing that a person who wanted to kill in the name of an infamous terrorist group – right on the streets of our city – will no longer be a threat,” said U.S. Attorney Hochul.

As part of his guilty plea, Lutchman admitted that he conspired with an individual known as Abu Issa Al-Amriki, a now-deceased ISIL member in Syria, and planned to conduct an attack against civilians using knives and a machete on New Year’s Eve in 2015. Lutchman admitted that he intended to conduct an attack that could be claimed by ISIL and that could also help him gain membership into ISIL when he thereafter traveled overseas to join the terrorist organization.

According to court documents, Lutchman posted on social media expressions of support for ISIL, including images, videos and documents relating to ISIL and violent jihad. Lutchman also downloaded and watched terrorism-related videos, including videos relating to ISIL and the now-deceased terrorist Anwar al-Awlaki. The defendant also maintained a digital collection of documents relating to terrorism and terrorist groups, including all of the issues of Inspire magazine and other documents designed to provide guidance to individuals seeking to travel overseas to engage in violent jihad or engage in “lone wolf” terrorist attacks in the United States and elsewhere.

In December 2015, Lutchman obtained an online document written by an ISIL member in Syria, in which the ISIL member provided guidance to ISIL supporters who were seeking to travel overseas to join ISIL, including advice about preparation for violent jihad; the use of security measures while traveling to avoid apprehension by law enforcement authorities; instructions for killing non-believers and infidels, or “kuffar;” and contact information for the ISIL member and Al-Amriki.

According to the plea agreement, on Dec. 25, 2015, Lutchman initiated online contact with Al-Amriki, who identified himself as an ISIL member in Syria. In a series of subsequent communications, Al-Amriki told Lutchman to plan an attack on New Year’s Eve and kill a number of kuffar. Al-Amriki advised the defendant to write something before the attack and give it to the ISIL member so that after the attack the ISIL member could post it online to announce Lutchman’s allegiance to ISIL. Al-Amriki told Lutchman that whatever Lutchman sends to ISIL, they would keep it until the attack was complete and then post it and publicize the attack on the Internet. Al-Amriki emphasized that Lutchman is “behind enemy lines,” that Lutchman was the closest person to their most hated enemy and that Lutchman has the chance to do things that ISIL wishes it could do. Lutchman ultimately told Al-Amriki that he has a couple of “brothers” that want to make hijra and plan an attack. Al-Amriki encouraged Lutchman to complete an attack and stated that, if the Syrian borders open and the attack does not succeed, he would help Lutchman and his “brothers” make hijra. Al-Amriki told Lutchman to show ISIL how serious he is, stating, “New years is here soon. Do operations and kill some kuffar.” Lutchman told Al-Amriki that he hates it in the United States, that he wants to join the ranks of ISIL and that he is ready to “give everything up” to be in Syria with ISIL. Al-Amriki told Lutchman, for the time being, to do what he can in the United States.

In late December 2015, Lutchman was communicating with other individuals (referred to as Individuals A, B, and C in the plea agreement) who, unbeknownst to Lutchman, were cooperating with the FBI. In these communications, Lutchman made statements expressing his strong support of ISIL and his desire to travel overseas to join ISIL, and also discussed in detail his online communications with Al-Amriki and the ISIL member. In subsequent communications, Lutchman referred at various times to Individuals A, B and C as “brothers” who would be involved in the New Year’s Eve attack.

Lutchman admitted that on Dec. 27, 2015, he and Al-Amriki discussed potential targets, and Al-Amriki told Lutchman to find the most populated area and kill as many people as possible and reiterated that, after the operation was done, he would vouch for Lutchman and the other participants in the attack and he would start sending “brothers” to ISIL in Libya, to which Lutchman agreed.

Lutchman admitted that he met with Individual C on Dec. 28, 2015, and indicated that he wanted to target a club or bar and proposed that they kidnap a couple of people and kill them. Lutchman stated that they would have to wear masks during the operation in order to avoid getting caught by law enforcement authorities.

Lutchman admitted that on the evening of Dec. 29, 2015, Lutchman and Individual C went to a store in Rochester to purchase weapons and supplies for the attack, including two black ski masks, two knives, a machete, zip-ties, duct tape, ammonia and latex gloves. Lutchman told Individual C that “the operation is a go,” and noted that any victims would have to be killed. The defendant and Individual C discussed making a video before the operation, at Al-Amriki’s direction, in which they would explain their rationale for the attack and swear bayah (allegiance) to the leader of ISIL, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi. Lutchman said that he planned to release the video after the completion of the attack.

Lutchman admitted that on Dec. 30, 2015, he made a video pledging allegiance to ISIL and al-Baghdadi, and stated that ISIL was going to establish the caliphate in the land of Islam. In reference to the planned New Year’s Eve attack, Lutchman stated, “the blood that you spill of the Muslim overseas we gonna spill the blood of the kuffar,” and asked Allah to “make this a victory.” In the video, Lutchman covered all of his face except for his eyes and he held one index finger in the air, which is a sign commonly used by ISIL members and supporters. Immediately thereafter, law enforcement agents arrested Lutchman and recovered the items purchased by Lutchman and Individual C the previous day from Lutchman’s residence.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI’s Rochester JTTF. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brett A. Harvey of the Western District of New York, with the assistance of Trial Attorney Larry Schneider of the National Security Division’s Counterterrorism Section.
