  1. ISIS threat to U.S. air bases, South Korea intelligence agency warns

Seoul (CNN)ISIS has collected information on 77 U.S. and NATO air force facilities around the world and is calling on supporters to attack them, according to South Korea’s intelligence agency.
The terror group has also released information on individuals in 21 countries, including the personal details of one employee of a South Korean welfare organization, the National Intelligence Service (NIS) said in a statement Sunday.

That person is now under protection, the agency said.
The NIS says ISIS’ hacking organization, the United Cyber Caliphate, collected details of U.S. air force units in South Korea including Osan Air Base, and addresses and Google satellite maps have been released through the Telegram messaging service.

In a statement Monday, U.S. Forces Korea (USFK) said it took the safety and security of its installations very seriously.

  2. ISIS Video Portrays Preparation for Times Square Suicide Bombing

An official media affiliate of the Islamic State released a new video this weekend praising the Orlando attack, calling for similar attacks in multiple languages and portraying a suicide bomber striking Times Square.

Titled “You Are Not Held Responsible Except for Yourself,” the Al-Furat Media Foundation release was distributed online with a promotional banner featuring President Obama, Omar Mateen and scenes from the previous weekend’s carnage.

Al-Furat specializes in Russian-language messages to Muslims in the Caucasus and beyond. Earlier this year, for example, the media wing released the Philippine terrorist group Abu Sayyaf’s video pledging allegiance to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.

  3. DOJ censors 911 transcript from Orlando – removes Mateen’s pledges to ISIS

When those written transcripts start popping up on your local news broadcasts, and you don’t hear or see the parts from Orlando terrorist Omar Mateen about pledging allegiance to Islamic State — there’s a reason for that. The Department of Justice is having the transcripts censored.

Attorney General Loretta Lynch explained, in an interview with NBC’s Chuck Todd on Meet the Press

“What we’re not going to do is further proclaim this man’s pledges of allegiance to terrorist groups, and further his propaganda,” Lynch said. “We are not going to hear him make his assertions of allegiance [to the Islamic State]

So Mateen’s claims and state of mind will be presented to the American public in the light most sympathetic to his cause. You’ll be bombarded with an accusation that you’re “bombing his country” (which for the record is actually the United States of America, not Afghanistan, given that Mateen was born here and was an American citizen). But the Obama administration won’t let you read, hear, or otherwise inspect his pledges of allegiance to a vile, bloodthirsty, atrocity-committing Islamic guerrilla-terrorist group.

    • They can’t deny that the attack happened or that he is Moslem so they take all references to ISIS out of the transcript to make t he US the villain.

  4. UN says Myanmar’s Rohingya Muslims may be victims of ‘crimes against humanity’ –

UN rights chief urges end to discrimination in Myanmar

The U.N. human rights chief is urging Myanmar’s new government to end discrimination and human rights violations such as restrictions of movement, forced labor and sexual abuse against Rohingya Muslims and other minorities.

Zeid Ra’ad al-Hussein’s office on Monday released a report sought by the U.N. Human Rights Council on Myanmar’s minorities

The 18-page report calls on the government to abolish “all discriminatory local orders” in the western Rakhine state where many Rohingya live, and immediately remove “arbitrary” requirements for travel. It urges authorities to guarantee freedom of worship.

Myanmar does not officially recognize the Rohingya as an ethnic group. Conflict over land and resources in Rakhine caused deadly violence between Buddhists and Muslims. More than 100,000 Rohingya were forced to flee their homes and now live in decrepit camps.

Myanmar’s treatment of Rohingya may be ‘crime against humanity’, as UN points to forced labour and sexual violence

Aung San Suu Kyi maintains her government will not use the term “Rohingya” to describe the persecuted Muslim minority.

Widespread and ongoing violations against Myanmar’s Muslim Rohingya minority, including denial of citizenship, forced labour and sexual violence, could amount to crimes against humanity, the United Nations warned on Monday.

In a report on the human rights situation for minorities in Myanmar, the UN human rights office said it had found “a pattern of gross violations against the Rohingya… [which] suggest a widespread or systematic attack … in turn giving rise to the possible commission of crimes against humanity if established in a court of law”.

The report was published amid hope that Myanmar’s new government, steered by Aung San Suu Kyi and her pro-democracy party, will address deep hatreds in western Rakhine State.

Tens of thousands of Rohingya are confined to squalid displacement camps after waves of deadly unrest with Buddhists in 2012.

UN human rights chief Zeid Ra’ad Al Hussein said he was “encouraged” by statements by the new government in recent weeks.

But, he warned, the fledgling government it had “inherited a situation where laws and policies are in place that are designed to deny fundamental rights to minorities, and where impunity for serious violations against such communities has encouraged further violence against them.”

“It will not be easy to reverse such entrenched discrimination,” he said in a statement.

Even so, “it must be a top priority to halt ongoing violations and prevent further ones taking place against Myanmar’s ethnic and religious minorities.”

During its year-long probe, his office found “an alarming increase” in incitement to hatred and religious intolerance by ultra-nationalist Buddhist organisations against the Rohingya.

Buddhist nationalists have staged protests across the country against even using the term Rohingya.

They label the group “Bengalis”, casting Myanmar’s more than one million Rohingya as illegal immigrants from Bangladesh.

Myanmar’s Rohingya population are denied citizenship even though many can trace their roots in the country back generations.

Monday’s report found that in addition to being denied their nationality, state security forces have committed a wide range of other violations against the Rohingya.

These include summary executions, enforced disappearances, arbitrary arrests and detention, torture and ill-treatment, and forced labour, the report found.

“Arbitrary arrest and detention of Rohingya remains widespread,” it said, pointing out that “arrests are often carried out without grounds, formal processing or charges, until release is secured by payment of a bribe.”

And Rohingya in Rakhine State need official authorisation to move between, and often within, townships, severely restricting their freedom of movement, it said.

The restrictions severely impact all aspects of life, including the possibility to make a living, to access education, health care and emergency treatment, it said.

The report also outlined abuses against other minorities, especially in Kachin and northern Shan States, where armed conflict has intensified.

The deliberate targeting of civilians, using child soldiers, forced labour and sexual and gender-based violence figure among the long list of abuses, with the report warning they might amount to “war crimes”.

The report called on Myanmar to order an independent investigation into all the alleged violations, and a comprehensive inquiry into the situation of minorities in the country.

“We stand ready to support the government of Myanmar in ensuring a successful transition to a society based firmly on the rule of law and the protection of human rights for all,” Zeid said.

Separately, Suu Kyi told the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights that her government will avoid using the term “Rohingya” to describe a persecuted Muslim minority in the country’s northwest.

UN human rights investigator, Yanghee Lee, met Suu Kyi in the capital Naypyitaw on her first trip to Myanmar since the Nobel Peace Prize winner took power in April.

“At their meeting here this morning, our Foreign Minister Daw Aung San Suu Kyi explained our stance on this issue that the controversial terms should be avoided,” said Aung Lin, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Suu Kyi is banned from presidency by the military-drafted constitution because her children have British citizenship. She holds offices of the State Counsellor and the Minister for Foreign Affairs, but is the de facto leader of the administration.

She said during a visit by United States Secretary of State John Kerry last month that the country needed “space” to deal with the Rohingya issue and cautioned against the use of “emotive terms”, that she said were making the situation more difficult.

  5. Tunisia Prolongs State of Emergency for 1 More Month (abcnews, June 20, 2016)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/tunisia-prolongs-state-emergency-month-39988772

“Tunisian authorities have decided to prolong for another month the state of emergency declared after the November attack on elite presidential guards in the capital.

The office of President Beji Caid Essebsi said Monday that the decision was made in consultation with government and parliamentary officials.

The November suicide attack in downtown Tunis killed 12 members of the presidential guard.

The state of emergency confers exceptional powers on Tunisian authorities, notably to forbid strikes and public gatherings, close movie theaters and control the press.

Attacks in 2015, at the Bardo museum in Tunis in March and at a resort near Sousse in June, killed scores, mainly foreign tourists.

Tunisia lifted a state of emergency last October imposed after the June resort massacre only to reimpose it in November.”

“Belgian authorities have detained six people in connection with last year’s foiled attack on a Thalys express train to France, they said Monday.

The Federal Prosecutor’s Office said six houses in the greater Brussels area were searched in the operation. An investigating judge would decide later in the day whether the people taken in for questioning should remain in custody, it said.

  7. EU Boosts Naval Mission to Aid Libya With Migrants, Arms (abcnews, June 20, 2016)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/eu-boosts-naval-mission-aid-libya-migrants-arms-39988578

“The European Union boosted the role of its naval operation in the Mediterranean Monday as increasing numbers of desperate migrants flee Libya in unseaworthy boats.

EU foreign ministers agreed at talks in Luxembourg to extend Operation Sophia by a year to July 2017 and tasked it with building up Libya’s coast guard and navy. The operation will also help to police a U.N. arms embargo off the Libya coast.

French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault welcomed the move.

“We have to act against all those who exploit the migrants — the smugglers that earn plenty of money with their boats and who exploit misery. There are so many sinkings and tragedies. And then there is the fight against the arms trafficking that benefits Daesh,” he told reporters, using an alternative name for the Islamic State group.

The EU wants to move the operation into Libyan waters, and longer-term on land, to thwart migrant smugglers. But divisions in Libya have delayed the broad recognition of a national unity government that would approve the move.

The West hopes Libya’s new government will be able to unify the country and help combat the Islamic State affiliate there…”

“An Iraqi military commander says his forces are battling Islamic State militants in the northern neighborhoods of Fallujah days after most of the city was declared liberated.

Brig. Gen. Haider al-Obeidi told The Associated Press on Monday that militants are holed up in houses and buildings, saying he hopes to clear them out “in the coming few days.”

Al-Obeidi says most of the fighters are foreigners who cannot melt into the local population or sneak into other parts of the country still controlled by the extremist group. They include snipers and fighters armed with rocket-propelled grenades.

The Fallujah offensive began in late May, and IS defenses in much of the city collapsed abruptly on Friday. It is located 40 miles (65 kilometers) west of Baghdad.”

“Bahrain’s government on Monday stripped a leading Shiite cleric of his nationality, a move that brought hundreds of protesters into the streets and prompted warnings of unrest.

The Bahrain News Agency quoted the Interior Ministry as saying that Sheikh Isa Qassim had played a key role in creating an extremist sectarian atmosphere and had formed groups that “follow foreign religious ideologies and political entities.”

After the decision was announced, several hundred of Qassim’s supporters gathered outside of his house in the mostly Shiite village of Diraz, carrying posters and chanting religious slogans. Sayed al-Wadaei, director of advocacy at the Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy, said in a statement that the decision will escalate tensions and may lead to violence…”

“Iran’s Intelligence Ministry thwarted “one of the biggest” terrorist plots to strike Tehran and other sites during the holy month of Ramadan, state media said Monday.

Security and intelligence officials foiled a number of bombings and attacks in different parts of the country, the intelligence ministry said in a statement carried on the state-run IRNA news agency.

Terrorists were arrested, bombs were detonated and equipment was seized, IRNA added.

The disrupted plot was “one of the biggest” to target Iran, according to the semi-official FARS news agency.

Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Ali Shamkhani praised the “capable and experienced” authorities, telling FARS that “several people” had been apprehended in recent days.

It referred to those arrested as “wahhabi” unbelievers; Wahhabism is an ultraconservative brand of Islam predominantly practiced in Saudi Arabia.”

“”We were living like kings,” Yaqin Habash told me. “Now we’re sitting on iron.”

Yaqin, a resident of Qaraqosh, a Christian town east of the Iraqi city of Mosul, was sharing the evening meal with his wife and son in their bare tent in what was once a public park in Erbil, in the north of the country. As Yaqin spoke, his wife sat by his side, weeping silently.
They fled Qaraqosh when ISIS militants came to town.

“They stole my son’s tractor, they stole 50 tonnes of barley and wheat. They stole everything, everything I worked for my entire life, gone in an instant,” he said.

People become refugees, or internally displaced persons to use the sterile terminology of the modern world, for many different reasons, but they all share the same deep sense of total loss. 13. ORLANDO SENTINEL – FBI releases partial transcripts of Pulse shooter’s 911 calls

The FBI said this morning it has received thousands of tips, interviewed more than 500 people and collected more than 600 pieces of evidence more than a week after the Pulse massacre.

Officials today also released partial transcripts of phone calls made between the shooter and police during the June 12 shooting that killed 49 people and injured 53 others.

The transcripts include radio transmissions by Orlando police officers, a summary of the negotiations officers made with 29-year-old Omar Mateen and his pledge to the Islamic State.

The FBI will not be releasing full transcripts, officials said.

Mateen made the first call to a 911 dispatcher 2:35 a.m., while holding more than a dozen people hostage in the club’s bathrooms, according to the transcripts.

During the 50-second call, Mateen spoke Arabic and praised “God the Merciful.”
Orlando gunman’s conversations with police from inside nightclub to be released
Orlando gunman’s conversations with police from inside nightclub to be released

“I let you know, I’m in Orlando and I did the shootings,” the transcript reads.

The dispatcher asked Mateen twice for his name and where he was located. He answered only with “In Orlando.”

Mateen also pledged allegiance several times to a person and groups, though the names were redacted by the FBI.

    He then hung up.

About 10 minutes later, a team of crisis negotiators started talking with Mateen. Between 2:48 a.m. and 3:24 a.m., officers talked with Mateen three times for a total of 28 minutes, according to the transcripts.

He identified himself as an Islamic solider during the calls and told negotiators to tell America to stop bombing Syria and Iraq. He said that was why he was “out here right now,” according to the transcripts.

He also referenced the Paris attacks by saying he had bomb vest like the kind they “used in France.”

He threatened to blow up a vehicle with a bomb outside.

“There is some vehicle outside that has some bombs, just to let you know. You people are gonna get it, and I’m gonna ignite it if they try to do anything stupid,” the transcripts read.

He also threatened impending attacks on the same nature.

“In the next few days, you’re going to see more of this type of action going on,” he said.

Mateen again hung up. Police tried multiple times to call back with no success.

At 4:21 a.m., police pulled an air conditioning unit out of a dressing room and rescued several people.

Officers then learned Mateen was threatening to put bomb vests on hostages.

That’s when Chief John Mina gave the order for a SWAT team to make entry.

At 5:02 a.m., crews used a controlled explosive charge and battering ram to knock out a hole in a bathroom wall.

They rescued several people before Mateen came out – armed with a 9 mm pistol and AR-type rifle – shooting at officers, police said.

Police radio shows officers fired back and at 5:15 a.m., Mateen was shot down.

Based on radio communications, no shots were reported fired between the initial exchange of gunfire with responding officers shortly after 2 a.m. and the final breach of the club wall three hours later.

Orlando police Chief John Mina said officers were going into the club during that lapse in gunfire to rescue people. He said he has no doubt officers saved many lives.

The FBI has kept several blocks of Orange Avenue just north and south of Pulse closed during their investigation.

Southbound traffic is being redirected before Kaley Street. Northbound traffic is being redirected at Michigan Street.

The FBI said today it hopes to reopen the area by early this week.

Some businesses within the closure have remained open.

FBI Releases Transcripts of 911 Calls from Orlando Massacre

The gunman responsible for the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history placed a call from inside the Pulse nightclub to the Orlando police and confessed to his crime.

Praise be to God, and prayers as well as peace be upon the prophet of God,” Omar Mateen said in a transcript of his call to police dispatchers that the FBI released on Monday. “I let you know, I’m in Orlando and I did the shootings.”

That chilling admission was among the excerpts of the 911 calls from June 12 the feds released along with a timeline of the terror at the gay nightclub that left 49 dead and more than 50 people wounded.

In its document release, the FBI made a point of not identifying Mateen by name and did not it identify the radical Islamic group to which he swore allegiance.

The FBI said that “out of respect for the victims” it would not releasing audio of Mateen’s call or “audio or transcripts of the calls made by victims at the Pulse nightclub during the incident.”

Shortly after, the shooter engaged in three conversations with the Orlando Police Department’s Crisis Negotiation Team.

2:48 a.m.: First crisis negotiation call occurred lasting approximately nine minutes.

3:03 a.m.: Second crisis negotiation call occurred lasting approximately 16 minutes.

3:24 a.m.: Third crisis negotiation call occurred lasting approximately three minutes.

In these calls, the shooter, who identified himself as an Islamic soldier, told the crisis negotiator that he was the person who pledged his allegiance to [omitted], and told the negotiator to tell America to stop bombing Syria and Iraq and that is why he was “out here right now.” When the crisis negotiator asked the shooter what he had done, the shooter stated, “No, you already know what I did.” The shooter continued, stating, “There is some vehicle outside that has some bombs, just to let you know. You people are gonna get it, and I’m gonna ignite it if they try to do anything stupid.” Later in the call with the crisis negotiator, the shooter stated that he had a vest, and further described it as the kind they “used in France.” The shooter later stated, “In the next few days, you’re going to see more of this type of action going on.” The shooter hung up and multiple attempts to get in touch with him were unsuccessful.

Speaker – an Air Force vet – forcibly removed from retirement ceremony for mentioning God

I’m beginning to think we need an additional “Category” for our posts here at Liberty Unyielding. We have a round dozen of them covering topic categories — Politics, Media, National Security, etc — but in these trying times we apparently need one more: Evil.

Breitbart News reports this morning on the case of retired Senior Master Sergeant Oscar Rodriguez, a 33-year Air Force veteran who was asked by a retiring NCO, Master Sergeant Charles Roberson, to recite the traditional “flag-folding speech” at Roberson’s ceremony.

The speech is beloved of service members, although it was altered by the Pentagon in 2005 to remove all the original references to God.

For countless years, service members have given the “flag-folding speech” at military and civic events, including retirement ceremonies. Traditionally, this speech explains the colors, symbols, and history of the flag.

The flag-folding speech also contains several religious references, including, “Let us pray that God will reflect with admiration the willingness of one nation in her attempts to rid the world of tyranny, oppression, and misery. It is this one nation under God that we call, with honor, the United States of America.”

The speech closes with, “God bless our flag. God bless our troops. God bless America.”

In 2005, the Pentagon changed the speech to remove all references to the divine, substituting additional historical facts such as Neil Armstrong’s planting of an American flag on the moon in 1969. But many service members prefer the traditional speech and desire that version given at their own retirement celebrations.

As the flag is folded, for each fold recite the following:

Fold 1: The 13 stripes represent the original 13 states: Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Maryland, South Carolina, New Hampshire, Virginia, New York, North Carolina, and Rhode Island

Fold 2: The 50 stars represent our 50 United States of America

Fold 3: “I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty or give me death”, Patrick Henry

    • Air Force leaders recently approved a new script that can be read during flag-folding ceremonies. Though there are no official ceremonies in the Air Force that require a script to be read when a flag is folded, unofficial ceremonies such as retirements often do, said Lt. Col. Samuel Hudspath, Air Force protocol chief. “We have had a tradition within the Air Force of individuals requesting that a flag be folded, with words, at their retirement ceremony,” he said. “This new script was prepared by Air Force services to provide Air Force recognized words to be used at those times.” Thanks to TSgt Carey Gaul for sending this to ushistory.org. For more than 200 years, the American flag has been the symbol of our nation’s unity, as well as a source of pride and inspiration for millions of citizens.

Born on June 14, 1777, the Second Continental Congress determined that the flag of the United States be thirteen stripes, alternating between seven red and six white; and that the union be thirteen stars, white in a blue field representing a new constellation.1

Between 1777 and 1960, the shape and design of the flag evolved into the flag presented before you today. The 13 horizontal stripes represent the original 13 colonies, while the stars represent the 50 states of the Union. The colors of the flag are symbolic as well; red symbolizes hardiness and valor; white signifies purity and innocence; and blue represents vigilance, perseverance and justice.1

Traditionally, a symbol of liberty, the American flag has carried the message of freedom, and inspired Americans, both at home and abroad.

In 1814, Francis Scott Key was so moved at seeing the Stars and Stripes waving after the British shelling of Baltimore’s Fort McHenry that he wrote the words to The Star Spangled Banner.3

In 1892 the flag inspired Francis Bellamy to write the “Pledge of Allegiance,” our most famous flag salute and patriotic oath.3

In July 1969 the American flag was “flown” in space when Neil Armstrong planted it on the surface of the moon.3

Today, our flag flies on constellations of Air Force satellites that circle our globe, and on the fin flash of our aircraft in harms way in every corner of the world. Indeed, it flies in the heart of every Airman who serves our great Nation. The sun never sets on our US Air Force, nor on the flag we so proudly cherish.3

Since 1776 no generation of Americans has been spared the responsibility of defending freedom… Today’s Airmen remain committed to preserving the freedom that others won for us, for generations to come.

By displaying the flag and giving it a distinctive fold we show respect to the flag, and express our gratitude to those individuals who fought, and continue to fight for freedom, at home and abroad. Since the dawn of the 20th century, Airmen have proudly flown the flag in every major conflict on lands and skies around the world. It is their responsibility … our responsibility … to continue to protect and preserve the rights, privileges and freedoms that we, as Americans, enjoy today.

The United States flag represents who we are. It stands for the freedom we all share and the pride and patriotism we feel for our country. We cherish its legacy, as a beacon of hope to one and all. Long may it wave.

This issue isn’t going to go away but will grow and continue to fester as long as the left has the ability to force people to modify their actions to fit the thought patterns of the left.

  18. One university moves to drop their math requirement, and guess what they’ll replace it with

At Wayne State University in Detroit, students will be making some new course selections in the coming semesters if a new faculty proposal is put into place. For those who find mathematics to be a bit on the difficult side or not important to their goals, good news! You won’t have to be bothered with studying calculus or statistics. Instead, you’ll be filling your time and required credit hours with courses in “diversity training.” (Michigan Capitol Confidential)

A faculty committee has proposed adding a three credit hours requirement in diversity to the general education curriculum at Wayne State University. It also recommended that WSU drop its university-wide requirement in mathematics, an idea that was carried out on June 13.

“We are proposing the creation of specific ‘Diversity’ courses, with students required to take one course in this designation,” said a document from the General Education Reform Committee, which is recalibrating what the university will expect from all students who earn a degree from the state university. It released the proposal in May.

The committee report said, “These courses will provide opportunities for students to explore diversity at the domestic level and consider the ways in which it intersects with real world challenges at the local, national and/or global level.”

  19. Indonesian navy fires on Chinese boat, Beijing says one injured

An Indonesian naval vessel fired on a Chinese fishing boat on Friday, injuring one person, China’s foreign ministry said, the countries’ third reported confrontation this year near a chain of islands as regional tensions mount in the South China Sea.

Indonesia’s navy said it had fired warning shots at several boats with Chinese flags that it accused of fishing illegally near the Natuna Islands – but a spokesman told Reuters there had been no injuries.

Indonesia is not part of a broader regional dispute over China’s reclamation activities in the South China Sea and Beijing’s claims on swathes of key waterways.

But Jakarta has objected to China’s inclusion of parts of the Indonesian-ruled Natuna Islands within a “nine-dash line” that Beijing marks on maps to show its claim on the body of water.

China has said it does not dispute Indonesia’s sovereignty over the Natuna Islands, although the statement said the area where the incident occurred is subject to overlapping interests.

The Indonesian warship damaged one Chinese fishing boat and detained another with seven people on board, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hua Chunying said on the ministry website on Sunday.

  20. Apparently, this one claims that the ISIS genocide was good for the Yazidis….words fail me!

With the disaster and tragedy that befell the Yezidis under the Islamic State (ISIS) have come some positive aspects such as putting this community in touch with the outside world, giving its women a role in society and changing some of their social relations, argues Chnar Saad Abdullah, a sociologist and former Kurdish minister of Anfal and martyrs affairs.

“Before, Yezidi women were passive and hardly played a role. As many lost their husbands, brothers and fathers, they now have to look after themselves.” Abdullah says of thousands of Yezidi women and girls who survived the ISIS onslaught and abductions.

She says that in the past the community shunned or killed women for a simple love relationship outside the community, but the bitter reality of what happened under ISIS and the vast number of female victims has forced the community to accept them into society and not treat them differently.

Who cheats on tests? Some foreign drug makers do.

Several dozen companies have been caught in the act, fabricating data used by Health Canada and other regulators to approve drugs for sale in the Canadian, U.S. and European markets.

Western inspectors have found pages of important data buried under rubble. They’ve found evidence of erased computer records and falsified human blood tests. And those are just the examples they’ve witnessed.

The data fraud is happening across the international pharmaceutical manufacturing industry.

US supercomputing was dealt a couple of blows on Monday after the latest rankings of the 500 fastest supercomputers in the world were announced during the opening to the International Supercomputing Conference (ISC). In the updated TOP500 list, China retained its leadership at the top with a new number one system, while also overtaking the United States in the number of total systems and aggregate performance. This is first time in the list’s history that the US did not dominate the TOP500 results in these latter two categories.

  23. “We Want Food”: 50 Dead in Food Riots in Socialist Venezuela
    June 20, 2016
    Daniel Greenfield

Socialism works until you run out of other people’s money. Then you run out of food. Then eventually the people shooting the rioting mobs demanding food run out of bullets.

This is the political and economic trajectory of Socialism. That is what is taking place in Venezuela.

Protests have spread across the country, with people chanting “We want food!”

At least 400 people were arrested in Venezuela this week, authorities said on Wednesday, as the South American nation grapples with widespread looting and riots amid a crippling economic crisis and the world’s highest rate of inflation.

Looters swarmed shops in the coastal town of Cumana on Tuesday to seize food and other supplies, with security forces nearly powerless to stop them,

Hundreds have been reported arrested and at least 50 dead. The Venezuelan Socialist tyrannical regime sent in the military as cities continue to burn and crowds chant for food. It’s a scene right out of the French Revolution

  24. Moroccan Christian Convert Sparks Anger on YouTube (moroccoworldnews, June 20, 2016)
    http://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2016/06/189569/moroccan-christian-convert-sparks-anger-on-youtube/

“The controversy created by the “Moroccan and Christian” Youtube channel continues to grow, as an uploaded third video created even more divided reactions.

The first video on the channel featured Imane, a female Moroccan who explains her conversion from Islam to Christianity and the various stigmas that come along with the process. “Moroccan and Christian” published a new video with a new member of the Moroccan Christian community speaking as the host.

“I used to live in a Muslim family that is still Muslim today, and I pray to God that He would show them the right religious path. However, what is truly amazing is that some of them have converted to Christianity.”

Atika claims that Moroccan Christians living in the kingdom today are questioned and “followed for their choice of conversion.”

It is essential to note that in the Moroccan law, apostasy, or the abandonment or renunciation of a religious faith,” is permitted. However, socio-cultural acceptance of apostasy by many Moroccan Muslims is far from widespread as converts are spoken of as “infidels” to the Islamic faith.

The part of the video that seems to offend many Muslim Moroccans, however, is when Atika says “We grew up and learned to make the difference between both faiths. We were able to bring down that wall surrounding us, and our lives became filled with light rather than darkness.” Reactions to the video largely condemned this portrayal of Islam as a “dark and constraining faith.”

“I am a Muslim Moroccan and I find that your videos are becoming more and more insulting to our religion, because you do a comparison between Islam Christianity. I accept that you are different. However, I do not accept the fact that someone stain my religion by saying that it is dark,” one Moroccan commented on the video in French….”

“Refugees enrich countries with aging populations such as Italy, President Sergio Mattarella said Monday while marking World Refugee Day. “Refugees enrich our country,” he said.

“Italy suffers from a low birth rate and the arrival of talented and capable young people will enrich it if managed correctly”. “Europe stands for respect for human rights, but this principle can’t be on again, off again – it can’t be applied only to those living in Europe”.

Refugee arrivals “can only be managed by intelligent reception, one that will guarantee peace and order,” said the head of State.

“Sometimes there are reactions driven by fear, disorientation, attempts at closure (or) worse still, indifference,” Mattarella went on.

Those fleeing to Europe do so because this is “the continent of freedom, democracy and wellbeing,” the president said.

“We can’t make it uglier in order to make it less attractive”.”

“Professor Christoph K. Neumann has resigned from Istanbul’s Bilgi University following the dismissal of his colleague, Professor Zeynep Say?n Bal?kç?o?lu, who was accused of “insulting” President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an during a lecture.

“It does not comply with the existence of academic freedoms to dismiss professor Zeynep for expressing her ideas during lectures [with] no questions asked,” Neumann wrote in his resignation letter addressing the rector’s office.

“An institution without those freedoms cannot be called a university. It is your responsibility to find an appropriate name for that institution, but Bilgi is no longer a university. In this sense, Bilgi University does not exist anymore,” he added.

Bilgi University had announced the dismissal of Bal?kç?o?lu on its website on June 16, a day after a number of pro-government media outlets criticized the academic for her remarks in class describing the president as “vulgar and rude.”

According to the statement, the university swiftly ordered an investigation into the claims and severed connections with Bal?kç?o?lu as soon as reports surfaced in the media.”

“At least 33 Taliban insurgents were killed in the latest counterterrorism operations conducted by the Afghan National Defense and Security Forces (ANDSF) in the past 24 hours.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) said the operations were conducted with the support of the Afghan Air Force and artillery units of the Afghan army.

A statement by MoD said at least 10 of the militants were killed in Dehrawood district of Uruzgan province and 7 others were killed while 4 more were wounded in Dawlatyar district of Ghor province.

The statement further added that 10 more militants including two commanders of the group were killed in a separate raid conducted in Nad-e-Ali district of Helmand province.

At least 6 militants were killed during an operation in Syedabad district of Wardak province and 3 others were wounded, MoD said, adding that a suspected militant was arrested and 30 sacks of explosives were confiscated in Logar province.

  29. Sirajuddin Haqqani with direct support of ISI involved in Afghanistan violence: Dostum (khaama, June 20, 2016)
    http://www.khaama.com/sirajuddin-haqqani-with-direct-support-of-isi-involved-in-afghanistan-violence-dostum-01310

“The First Vice President Abdul Rashid Dostum has said Sirajuddin Haqqani is a key player in the ongoing violence in Afghanistan with the direct support of Pakistani military intelligence, Inter Services Intelligence (ISI).

During a meeting with the Afghan armed forces late on Saturday night, Dostum said ISI has been continuously attempting to destabilize Afghanistan and conduct terrorist attacks with the help of Haqqani terrorist network.

Dostum further added that the newly appointed leader of Taliban Mawlavi Haibatullah Akhundzada and his deputy Mullah Yaqoob are useless figures with no authorities but the second deputy chief of Sirajuddin Haqqani is a key player.

He also slammed ISI for the major attacks in the country including a deadly attack on vIP protection unity in capital Kabul earlier in April.

The Afghan officials are saying the Haqqani terrorist network leaders as well as the Taliban group leadership are based in Peshawar and Quetta cities of Pakistan.

The Afghan officials have long been criticizing Pakistan for failing to take actions against the groups using the Pakistani soil to carry out attacks in Afghanistan.

In the meantime, the US Department of Defense recently said Pakistan should deny safe havens to the terrorist and extremist groups in its soil in a bid to help improve the security environment of the region.

“Pakistan must play a role in reducing the threat from terrorist and militant groups in the region,” the Defense Department said in a report.

The report further added that sustained Pakistani efforts to pressure the Haqqani Network and the Taliban and to disrupt active threat streams are necessary to help decrease violence in the region, to reduce the threat posed by these groups, and to achieve lasting progress on counterterrorism issues.”

  30. FBI, DOJ release new, full transcript of Orlando shooter’s 911 call

Under pressure from Republican leaders, the Justice Department on Monday afternoon reversed itslef and released a full, unredacted transcript of the Orlando terrorist’s 911 call on the night of the massacre, calling the morning’s furor over omissions in the document “an unnecessary distraction.”

An earlier version of the transcript had deleted the word “Islamic State” and the name of ISIS leader “Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi.” Omar Mateen made the 50-second 911 call in which he claimed responsibility for the terror attack and pledged allegiance to Islamic State’s leader at 2:35 a.m. The call came just over a half hour into the June 12 slaughter at gay nightclub Pulse.

“I pledge allegiance to Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi may God protect him [in Arabic], on behalf of the Islamic State,” Mateen says on the new transcript.

The old version had several words scrubbed and read: “I pledge allegiance to [omitted] may God protect him [in Arabic], on behalf of [omitted].”

House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wis., called the earlier decision by DOJ and the FBI to release only a partial transcript “preposterous.”

“We know the shooter was a radical Islamist extremist inspired by ISIS,” Ryan said in a statement. “We also know he intentionally targeted the LGBT community. The administration should release the full, unredacted transcript so the public is clear-eyed about who did this, and why.”

Republican Florida Gov. Rick Scott also took aim at the edited accounting of Mateen’s statements the night he killed 49 and wounded 53 more.

“This is evil, this is ISIS. It’s radical Islam,” Scott told Fox News earlier Monday. “At some point, we lost 49 lives here and we lost a journalist who was beheaded by ISIS. We need a president that’s going to say I care about destroying ISIS.”

Attorney General Loretta Lynch went on numerous Sunday talk shows with the news that the partial transcripts would be released on Monday, immediately generating controversy from not only elected officials, but media outlets. On Monday, the White House said the decision was made solely by the Justice Department.

“All of the decisions about releasing the transcripts were made by Justice Department officials,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest said at the daily press briefing at the White House. “The view of the White House is that we should not interfere with an ongoing investigation and rather that those decisions should be made consistent with the assessment by law enforcement officials about the best way to advance the investigation.”

The FBI and DOJ reversed the morning decision and released the full transcript in an afternoon news release.

“Unfortunately, the unreleased portions of the transcript that named the terrorist organizations and leaders have caused an unnecessary distraction from the hard work that the FBI and our law enforcement partners have been doing to investigate this heinous crime,” the organizations said in a statement.

The only complete transcript released was of the 911 calls. Several calls made later to crisis negotiators were only released in summarized form with few direct quotes provided.

According to the Justice Department report, Mateen said twice during the 911 call and at least once during later negotiations that he pledged ISIS or al-Baghdadi. Investigators said he spoke to negotiators in three different calls at 2:48 a.m., 3:03 a.m. and 3:24 a.m. The longest call was the second at 16 minutes. The third call, at three minutes, was the shortest. The first call lasted nine minutes.

“As the killer made these statements, he did so in a chilling, calm and deliberate manner,” Assistant Special Agent in Charge Ron Hopper said during a Monday morning news conference.

During one call, Mateen told negotiators that the U.S. should stop bombing Syria and Iraq — the countries with regions that comprise ISIS’ so-called caliphate. He said the bombings were why he was “out here right now.”

The calls with crisis negotiators may explain why officials waited three hours — until 5:14 a.m. — before ramming a hole in the side of the club to free hostages and engage Mateen in a final, deadly fight. During those three hours, Mateen was holed up in a bathroom with several hostages, though authorities have said no gun shots were fired during this period. Mateen later died during a shootout with police.

The summary shows that Mateen told negotiators he had a “vehicle outside that has some bombs. Just to let you know. You people are gonna get it, and I’m gonna ignite it if they try to do anything stupid.”

Mateen claimed he had an explosive vest similar to the kind used by terrorists “in France,” referencing the November terror attack in Paris.

“In the next few days, you’re going to see more of this type of action going on,” Mateen said.

He also reportedly told hostages that he would put suicide vests on them.

No explosives were ever found on Mateen inside the club or in any vehicles outside. Mateen was armed with two guns during the rampage.

Despite claims by the administration and law enforcement officials that ISIS did not direct Mateen to carry out the attack, Defense Secretary Ash Carter on Monday used the massacre as an example of why the terror group must be defeated.

“Orlando further steels our resolve to carry out all aspects of our coalition military campaign plan,” Carter said at a conference organized by the Center for a New American Security, a Washington think tank. “First, destroying ISIL’s parent tumor in Iraq and Syria, which is necessary, but not sufficient; second, combating ISIL’s metastases worldwide wherever it appears; and third helping protect the homeland.”

  32. Reports of Sexual Offenses Soar on the NYC Subway
A police official says better reporting by alleged victims is fueling the increase

    http://www.wsj.com/articles/reports-of-sexual-offenses-soar-on-the-nyc-subway-1466455601

Reports of sexual offenses on the New York City subway are up more than 50% compared with last year, according to figures released Monday.

The violations include unwanted touching, public lewdness and unlawful surveillance—taking inappropriate video or photos.

“Few men know this crime exists,” said Joseph Fox, chief of transit for the New York Police Department. “But far too many woman do.”

The figures don’t include rape. The subway system typically has one or two reported rapes a year, authorities said.

The jump has been driven by more victims reporting the crimes rather than an actual uptick in offenses, said Chief Fox, who addressed Metropolitan Transportation Authority board members during a transit and bus committee meeting Monday.

“Crimes that would previously go unreported because victims are embarrassed, intimidated or lacked the confidence that the case would be taken seriously are now being documented and fully investigated, “ he said. “Our teams are catching more sex offenders in the act and more women are coming forward knowing that we are committed to aggressively pursuing each criminal complaint.”

  33. Expecting migrants to enrich German economy is ‘fairytale’ – AfD leader to RT

The notion of migrants arriving in Germany and enriching the economy has proven to be a “fairytale,” the leader of the right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party told RT, adding that Chancellor Angela Merkel has given up the country’s borders.

Speaking to RT’s Sophie Shevardnadze, AfD leader Frauke Petry said “this fairytale of migrants coming to Germany and being the enriching factor for the economy has been proven to be false and there are no concepts from our government on how to deal with the situation.”

She went on to accuse Merkel of angering German residents by opening the country’s borders to anyone who wanted to come, and “not distinguishing between real refugees and migrants…

“…Naturally the people in Germany are waking up, realizing that our chancellor has given up the sovereignty of the country, she has given up our borders, she has given up our rules and regulations.”

Petry stressed the need for “quick processes” to decide whether new arrivals can stay in Germany, adding that the current system leaves asylum seekers in limbo.

“We have a huge problem because hundreds of thousands of persons inside Germany, within the asylum process [are left] not knowing whether they will be allowed to stay or whether they will have to be sent back home,” she said.

The AfD leader added that German states do not have the power to send refugees back home, as that duty is carried out by the federal government. She said this situation amounts to a “severe problem.”

To help tackle the crisis, Petry said that Germany needs controls over its borders, adding that the Schengen Treaty “has failed because they only talk [about] the advantages of not controlling borders, but never about the disadvantages.”

In addition, Petry said that Germany needs to “separate asylum law from immigration law,” but stressed that it “failed to do that over a long period of time.”

However, the AfD leader was clear that while the refugee crisis needs a better solution, the EU’s deal with Turkey is not the way forward. She particularly noted pressure placed on Europe by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan before the agreement was even secured.

“Turkey, especially Erdogan, is not a reliable partner for Germany and Europe. If you pressure your partner even before your treaty has even come into action, it’s not going to help carrying it out in the long run,” she said.

The AfD “clearly rejects this sort of treaty,” Petry said, adding that “granting free access of Turkish citizens to Germany as part of this deal is definitely not the right solution.”

Petry did, however, stress that the EU was in crisis long before the influx of asylum seekers which began last year, noting that it was “not functioning properly” when the AfD entered politics in 2013.

“The migration crisis is just another symptom of this failing development in Europe,” she said.

  35. Karachi: A member of the Ahmadiyya community — a practicing homeopathic doctor — was shot dead in a targeted attack on his clinic in the city’s Malir district late on Monday night.

Dr Chaudhary Abdul Khaliq, aged between 40 to 50, was fatally targeted by unknown assailants at his clinic in Ali Town, Sikandar Goth within the Sachal police limits.

District Malir SSP Rao Anwaar said Dr Khaliq, a resident of Metroville-II, was attending to patients when two attackers entered his clinic, asked specifically for Dr Khaliq and shot him once in the head at close range. No one else was hurt in the attack which was carried out with a pistol, according to the officer.

  36. The director of the Remain campaign has been accused of seeking to attack the Leave camp by “exploiting” the murder of Jo Cox.

A recording of Will Straw coaching pro-EU campaigners in a conference call and referring to the MP’s brutal murder has sparked uproar on social media.

Mr Straw, who says he was a close friend of Mrs Cox, says the Remain camp ought to criticise Brexit campaigners for “stirring division and resentment” in the wake of her death.

The tape was posted online by right-wing blog Guido Fawkes under the headline: “Will Straw ordered Remain to attack Leave over Jo Cox death.”

Mr Straw, son of former Labour cabinet minister Jack Straw, is the executive director of the Britain Stronger In Europe campaign.

In the leaked recording, he says: “We need to recognise that people have been pulled up short by Jo Cox’s death and it is now time to make a very positive case for why we want to be in the European Union… to call out the other side for what they have done to stir division and resentment in the UK.

“That is something we must all do… This is what we think is the closing argument of the campaign, reflecting all the arguments that we have been setting out for many months but also the new context that we’re in.

“What we want to say is people should vote Remain on Thursday for more jobs, lower prices, workers’ rights, stronger public services and a decent, tolerant United Kingdom.”

Critics have claimed Mr Straw was seeking to make political gain from the killing of the 41-year-old MP, who was shot and stabbed on Thursday.

    MPs honour Jo Cox

She tweeted: “Yes, they stooped that low. Don’t let them win. #VoteLeave.”

Paul Joseph Watson said: “#VoteRemain campaign director (@wdjstraw) urges supporters to exploit murder of Jo Cox. Total disgrace. Resign now.”

Jason Brown, a Conservative activist, added: “As MPs pay tribute to Jo Cox in in the Commons Im appalled that @wdjstraw is using her death has as a campaign too.”

Britain Stronger In Europe insisted it would have been strange for Mr Straw not to reflect on this “awful crime”.

It said in a statement: “As a close personal friend of Jo Cox, Will Straw was reflecting on the changed circumstances following the tragic murder of an inspirational public servant.

“Unfortunately, everyone in this campaign – whether they are from the Remain or Leave camp – are now conducting the last few days of it in the shadow of that awful crime.

“Given that, it would have been strange for Will’s campaign call with volunteers to not reflect on the wider environment.”
