  1. Now hundreds of migrants from the Caribbean fly 6,000 miles to Turkey in bid to enter Europe while posing as being from Somalia (dailymail, May 16, 2016)
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3591893/Now-hundreds-migrants-Caribbean-fly-6-000-miles-Turkey-bid-enter-Europe-posing-Somalia.html

“Hundreds of migrants from the Caribbean are travelling more than 6,000 miles to enter the European Union through Greece, the Mail can reveal.

Instead of trying to get into the United States a few hundred miles to the north, many are making the journey across the Atlantic to Istanbul in Turkey.

From there, they travel along the coast to join thousands of refugees on the perilous crossing of the Aegean to the Greek islands.

On arrival some claim to be from Somalia or even from Syria or Afghanistan in an attempt to gain asylum and get free travel across most of the EU.

Last year almost 400 migrants came to Greece from the Caribbean, the vast majority from the Dominican Republic.

And a further 150 have arrived from the Dominican Republic in the first three months of this year.

It confirms suspicions that economic migrants are using the European refugee crisis to enter the continent. More than a million people tried to enter the EU by sea last year, with many making the boat crossing from Turkey to Greek islands such as Lesbos.

EU border guard Anna Smigielska, whose job is to interview migrants arriving on Lesbos to identify their nationality, said: ‘For us it seems strange, but they say it’s one of the easiest ways to get into Europe. I asked some of them, how is it you are coming this route?

‘They say there are cheap flights and they don’t need visas for Turkey, so it is not so hard.’

In one case, she said, a migrant from Haiti – on the same Caribbean island as the Dominican Republic – claimed to be from Syria.

Artist Oliver Bienkowski and the Pixel Helper collective performed the stunt to draw public attention to Saudi Arabia’s egregiously bad human rights record and country’s alleged support of extremist groups…”

      • When I read Psalms, I’m often struck by King David’s rage that one or another of his enemies is tolerated on the face of the earth. King David cries out to the Lord for justice to no avail. We’re not given explanations; only fools invent excuses for justice deferred or denied.

That this monster draws one breath after another offends me more than I can express. King David’s said it for me. All we can do acknowledge the reality that evil persists in this world and that ”Justice is Mine, sayeth the Lord.”

Anyway, there’s always a psalm of thanksgiving if you keep reading long enough.

In Syria, the town of Suluk lies in a strategic position between Turkey and Islamic State’s proclaimed de-facto capital Raqqa. A crew from RT’s Arabic channel recently managed to get within 55 kilometers of the terrorist stronghold, capturing terrifying evidence of how ISIL controls the area.

  6. World powers prepared to arm UN-backed Libyan government

The US and other world powers say they are ready to supply Libya’s internationally recognised government with weapons and training to counter the Islamic State.

The decision is stated in a communique prepared for the end of top-level talks in Vienna on Libya and obtained by the Associated Pressbefore its release.

The communique is signed by all five permanent UN security council members – the US, Russia, France, UK and China – and the more than 15 other countries participating in the talks. It says the signatories are “ready to respond to the Libyan government’s requests for training and equipping” government forces.

Libya is under a UN embargo imposed to keep lethal arms away from terrorists and rival militias vying for power. The communique says it will push for exemptions from the embargo for the internationally recognised government.

The UN-backed government of Fayez al-Sarraj has been slowly asserting its authority in Tripoli, but it still faces a rival administration in the east.

The Vienna meeting – held under the joint chairmanship of the US and Italy – discussed whether to lift selectively an arms embargo so weapons can be sent to the Sarraj government to take on Isis, which claims to run 155 miles of coast from its base in Sirte.

“The Government of National Accord has voiced its intention to submit appropriate arms embargo exemption requests to the UN Libya Sanctions Committee to procure necessary lethal arms and materiel to counter UN-designated terrorist groups and to combat Daesh throughout the country,” said the communique, using an alternate name for Isis. “We will fully support these efforts while continuing to reinforce the UN arms embargo.”

US, Other Powers Want to Arm Libyan Government

“The Government of National Accord has voiced its intention to submit appropriate arms embargo exemption requests to the UN Libya Sanctions Committee to procure necessary lethal arms and materiel to counter UN-designated terrorist groups and to combat Da’esh throughout the country,” said the communique, using an alternate name for the Islamic State. “We will fully support these efforts while continuing to reinforce the UN arms embargo.”

The communique was to be issued at the end of the Libya talks Monday. U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and top officials from more than 20 other nations have been conferring on ways to strengthen Libya’s fledgling government. The aim is to give the internationally recognized administration more muscle in fighting Islamic State radicals and end its rivalry with a group to the east claiming legitimacy.

Before the meeting, however, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier warned against undue optimism.

“The key question is whether Libya remains a place where terrorism, criminal human smuggling and instability continues to expand, or if we are able, together with the government of national unity to recover stability,” he told reporters ahead of the meeting. “That, at present, is an open question.”

  7. ‘I am Proud of You’, Khamenie tells families of Afghans killed in Syria (khaama, May 16, 2016)
    http://www.khaama.com/i-am-proud-of-you-khamenie-tells-families-of-afghans-killed-in-syria-0960

“The Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has praised the families of the Afghan fighters killed in Syria to defend the regime of President Bashar al-Assad.

According to reports, between 10,000 to 12,000 Afghans have been recruited the fight the Syrian rebels and majority of the Afghan fighters are illegal immigrants.

A video has emerged online which shows the Iranian Supreme Leader meeting with the families of the Afghan fighters killed in Syria.

It is believed the video was recorded late in March as Khamenei was meeting the families and telling them ‘I am proud you’.

Khamenei is seen further stating that the “martyrs who die on this path are privileged.”

“In fact your children have created a shield with their life to protect the holy shrines from these evil [forces]. Therefore their status is very important,” he said.

The video is released days after at least 15 Afghan nationals have reportedly been killed during a clash with the Syrian rebels near the Syrian city of Aleppo….”

  8. Migrants get bizarre ‘sexual pleasure’ advice in project paid for by the German government (express, May 16, 2016)
    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/651389/Migrants-sexual-pleasure-advice-project-paid-german-government-cologne

“REFUGEES in Germany are being taught to search for the female G-spot, sex during pregnancy and how to enjoy homosexual sex.

The bizarre project – complete with graphic graphics – is being financed by the German government and comes at a time when tensions between migrants and natives are still tense following the mass sexual assaults on women in Cologne on New Year’s Eve.

In 13 languages on the government website Zanzu all aspects of sexuality – from how to enjoy “the first time” and how to avoid veneral diseases are tackled.

Men are shown coupling with one another, men and women performing oral sex upon each other in the scheme organised by the Federal Centre for Health Education (BZgA).

The sub-headings to click on include “Sex”, “Virginity”, “the body and sex”, “The first time”, “Sexual pleasure”, “Sex during pregnancy”, “sexual problems and fears”.

The government said the guide was necessary because many of the 1.1 million-plus refugees who have arrived in Germany since last year received no sexual education whatsoever in their homelands.

And because many hold what are considered “backward” views towards gay people – including attacking them in asylum centres – Berlin decided to issue the charts…”

  9. Iran arrests eight for ‘un-Islamic’ Instagram modelling (BBC, May 16, 2016)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-36302405

“Iran has arrested eight people working for online modelling agencies deemed to be “un-Islamic”, the prosecutor of Tehran’s cybercrimes court has said.

The arrests are part of an operation that has seen women targeted for posting photos showing them not wearing headscarves on Instagram and elsewhere.

Women in Iran have been required to cover their hair in public since 1979.

The eight unnamed people were among 170 identified by investigators as being involved in modelling online.

They included 59 photographers and make-up artists, 58 models and 51 fashion salon managers and designers, according to a statement from the court.

    ‘Sterilising cyberspaces’

The arrests were announced by the court’s prosecutor Javad Babaei during a state television programme broadcast late on Sunday that focused on the “threats to morality and the foundation of family” posed by social media.

Mr Babaei claimed modelling agencies accounted for about 20% of posts on Instagram from Iran and that they had been “making and spreading immoral and un-Islamic culture and promiscuity”.

Of the 170 people found to be involved in online modelling, 29 were warned that they were subject to criminal investigation, the prosecutor added.

“The persons who reformed their behaviour after receiving a notice did not face any judicial action, and eight out of the 29 have been arrested,” he said.

A spokesman of the Iranian Centre for Surveying and Combating Organised Cyber Crimes, Mostafa Alizadeh, said: “Sterilising popular cyberspaces is on our agenda….”

  12. Obama’s Iran Scammer Apologizes to Muslim Brotherhood for Syria Policy

Ben Rhodes, Obama’s foreign policy guru, recently in the news for boasting how he was able to scam all the stupid reporters on the Iran deal who, in his words, “literally know nothing.” Then he was being honored by MPAC. The Muslim Public Affairs Council is properly spelled Muslim Brotherhood.

The Muslim Brotherhood bet everything on Obama pulling off regime change operations that would let them take power across the Middle East. Political coups succeeded temporarily in Egypt and a few other countries, but they were mostly rolled back. The Brotherhood has gained some power in Morocco. But its attempts to take power in Libya, Yemen and Syria by force haven’t worked out too well.

Syria still remains a major Brotherhood focus, but it’s been thoroughly outmaneuvered by its ISIS and Al Qaeda spinoff groups. And Obama switched from backing Sunni Jihadists to backing Iran and its Shiite Jihadists leading to an uncomfortable encounter for Rhodes at a Muslim Brotherhood hangout.

  13. Here’s What Socialized Medicine Looks Like When the Money Runs Out
    May 16, 2016
    Daniel Greenfield

Socialized medicine is low quality. It draws substandard medical personnel and has high wait times. But at least it’s free. Or semi-free. Right?

Until the money runs out. Then you pay for every single thing.

When Jose Luis Vasquez was brought to the emergency room last Monday with a gunshot wound to the chest, the worst of his nightmare should have been over. He had survived an armed robbery without losing any major organs and needed only what doctors described as minor surgery.

Vasquez is being treated in one of Venezuela’s largest public hospitals, in Valencia, an industrial city about 150 kilometers (95 miles) from the capital, Caracas. Days later, he is still laid up in a humid room at the public hospital. A makeshift surgical drain, made from an empty gallon bottle, draws fluid from his lungs. All the supplies, from gauze to syringes, had to be purchased out of his pocket.”I had to buy this needle,” Vasquez says, pointing at the yellow casing secured to his right arm with transparent tape. “This cost me 1,000 Bolivares. The hydrogen peroxide was another 2,000 Bolivares — there was nothing in this hospital.”

Those two amounts add up to about 30% of the monthly minimum wage in Venezuela… His fears of being robbed continue inside the hospital, so he hides the money he needs for medicine under his blanket inside his underwear…

“Former MI6 head Richard Dearlove has said Europe faces a “populist uprising” if it is unable to show its citizens it can control the migrant crisis.

He was speaking on the BBC’s World on the Move day on migration issues.

Mr Dearlove also warned against offering visa-free travel to Turkish nationals, describing the move as like storing gasoline near a fire.

Earlier, UN special envoy Angelina Jolie Pitt warned the humanitarian system for refugees was breaking down.

She warned of “fear of migration” and a “race to the bottom” as countries competed to be the toughest to protect themselves…”

  17. Pakistan fears repeat of 1990s US policy (tribune, May 16, 2016)
    http://tribune.com.pk/story/1104013/pakistan-fears-repeat-of-1990s-us-policy/

“Pakistan is assessing whether a recent move by US lawmakers to stop the American administration from funding the sale of eight F-16 jets is a ‘temporary hiccup’ in their roller coaster relationship or whether Washington will abandon Islamabad as it had done in the late 1980s.

Government and security officials suggested to The Express Tribune that while a complete breakdown in Pakistan-US relations is not imminent, there is greater urgency to prepare for the worst—a repeat of 1989 when the US abruptly left the region and imposed sanctions on Pakistan for pursuing a nuclear weapons programme.

Officials listed the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project and Indian lobbying as some of the main factors behind the growing ‘anti-Pakistan narrative’ in Washington.

After US Congress blocked subsidy for the $699 million deal, PM’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz in a policy statement last week admitted that Pakistan’s relations with the US has been on a ‘downward spiral’ for the last three months…”

  18. Exclusive: ‘I was Raised by an Islamist Terror Cult in America’
A woman who grew up within Jamaat ul-Fuqra (Muslims of the Americas), a cultish Islamist terrorist group spoke to Clarion Project.

The Clarion Project has been in contact with a woman who grew up within Jamaat ul-Fuqra, a cultish Sufi Islamist terrorist group that now goes by the name of Muslims of the Americas.

The group is best known for establishing “Islamic villages” on U.S. soil, for example, its “Islamberg” headquarters in New York state.

She has agreed to anonymously come forward with her heartbreaking story. We have removed details for her safety. She provided photographs and specific facts that are unavailable in the public sphere that we subsequently confirmed.

The following is her testimony provided to Clarion Project national security analyst Ryan Mauro. It is one of the very few first-hand testimonies from someone who was inside Jamaat ul-Fuqra when it committed terrorism under that name:

I still know many Muslims and I know that Jamaat ul-Fuqra is nothing like them, but there are violent ones who will take issue with what I say and do. They believe you should be killed if you decide not to be Muslim or practice Islam the way they do because, to them, it’s “apostasy,” and that’s a capital offense under Islam. I do believe some of those violent Muslims may attempt to kill me.

From my point of view as a kid in Michigan, everything was great even though my mom and dad got a divorce and I was living with my mom. My first introduction to X [a Fuqra member] was when he hit me for breaking rules I knew nothing about. My name was also changed to be Islamic.

  19. American Homegrown ‘Violent Extremists’ All Linked to Islamists
Close to one third were found to be plotting terrorist attacks in the United States and were caught either before or after executing the attack.

Amid the unprecedented rise in foiled terrorist attacks in the United States, a recent report found at least 75 “homegrown violent extremists” were operating across the U.S. in 2015. Of those extremists, nearly half tried to travel overseas – presumably to join terror groups – but only four percent succeeded.

Close to one third were found to be plotting terrorist attacks in the United States and were caught either before or after executing the attack.

Figures issued by New Jersey’s Office of Homeland Security and Preparedness show that 65 of these extremist were affiliated with the Islamic State, while the rest were linked to al-Qaida in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), the Nusra Front, or other Islamic extremist groups and ideologies.

In addition, the New Jersey agency reported radicalized extremists were able to enter, operate and thrive in the U.S.

“In 2015, [homegrown violent extremists] demonstrated an ability to operate in New Jersey and throughout the United States while connecting with like-minded individuals online and acting independently from organized terrorist groups,” security officials said. “Since late 2014, a variety of radical groups such as the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) and al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) have encouraged [extremists] to attack in their home countries.”

  20. Inside the Pro-Iran ‘Echo Chamber’
Private email list pushed pro-Iran message to journalists, think tankers, officials

A White House-allied group funded a private email listserv that pushed out pro-Iran talking points and anti-Israel conspiracy theories to hundreds of influential policy experts, government officials, and journalists during the Iran nuclear debate.

The contents of the invite-only listserv, obtained by the Washington Free Beacon, could give a glimpse inside the “echo chamber” used by White House aide Ben Rhodes and allied lobbying groups to promote the administration’s nuclear deal with Iran.

Members of the list included an Obama White House adviser, senior officials at the State Department, journalists for the New York Times and the Washington Post, and fellows at prominent think tanks.

The email forum, known as “Gulf/2000,” was originally created by Columbia University professor and former Jimmy Carter aide Gary Sick in 1993.

Since 2010, Gulf/2000’s operations have been funded by the Ploughshares Fund, a group that worked closely with the White House to promote the Iran nuclear deal.

In a New York Times article earlier this month, President Obama’s foreign policy advisor Ben Rhodes said the Ploughshares Fund was part of the administration’s spin operation to sell the public on the agreement.
