  1. At least 7,000 people took to the streets of Brussels in a march “against terror and hate”.
Heading the processions were some of those caught up in the suicide bomb attacks on Belgium’s airport and metro station that killed 32 people.
Belgian broadcaster described the march as “calm and silent”.
The march had been due to be held a week after the 22 March attacks, but officials asked for it to be postponed because of the security threat.

  2. The government on Sunday announced that Hindus from Pakistan could have an easier time of getting Indian citizenship if a new proposal goes through, PTI reported. According to the agency, the proposal seeks to allow members of minority groups from Pakistan to buy property as well as get bank accounts, Permanent Account Number cards and Aadhaar cards if such people are on a long-stay visa in India.

Magistrates from 18 districts will get special powers for a period of two years to grant citizenship to these people, an official told the news agency, clarifying that it was still early days for the proposal. The citizenship fee might also be reduced from Rs 15,000 to just Rs 100.

The Centre believes this move will benefit Hindus, Sikhs, Christians, Jains, Parsis and Buddhists from Pakistan and even Bangladesh who have settled in India as refugees owing to religious persecution.

  3. Interview with a captured ISIS fighter:

What about the terror attacks in Brussels last month that killed 32, for which ISIS claimed responsibility? Were those legitimate too? “It’s preferable that infidels die on the frontline. But it’s always legitimate to kill those who don’t follow sharia,” or Islamic law, he says.

He claims he’s killed 15 or 20 people, “more or less,” and he feels no remorse. “I was defending my religion,” he says.

  4. Dozens of members of Hezbollah were killed last week in Aleppo in an “accidental” chemical attack carried out by the Syrian military, diplomatic sources reported to the Kuwaiti newspaper “Al-Jarida.”

The report stated that Syrian fighter jets struck militants from the Shi’ite terror group when they mistakenly attacked the town of Al-Eis, south of Aleppo, in their efforts to retake the region.

  5. Recep Tayyip Erdo?an’s administration recently seized six churches as state property in the volatile southeastern part of Turkey. As World Watch Monitor reports:

After 10 months of urban conflict in Turkey’s war-torn southeast, the government has expropriated huge sections of property, apparently to rebuild and restore the historical centre of the region’s largest city, Diyarbakir.
But to the dismay of the city’s handful of Christian congregations, this includes all its Orthodox, Catholic and Protestant churches. Unlike the state-funded mosques, Turkey’s ancient church buildings – some of which pre-date Islam – have been managed, historically, by church foundations.

Because of this move, the churches in Diyarbakir now factually belong to the state. This includes a church that was built 1,700 years ago, and a new one, built in 2003.

  6. (CNSNews.com) – A new study released Tuesday found that Pakistan’s public school textbooks negatively portray the country’s religious minorities, including Hindus, Christians and Ahmadis, as “untrustworthy, religiously inferior, and ideologically scheming.”

The report, “Teaching Intolerance in Pakistan: Religious Bias in Public School Textbooks,” analyzed 78 textbooks from all four provinces covering grades five through 10.

  8. Top expert on Islamist radicalisation is investigated by university for saying slain Muslim shopkeeper was ‘not a real Muslim’ (dailymail, Apr 17, 2016)
    http://dailym.ai/1qRmx3M

“A top expert on Islamist radicalisation is being investigated for saying that a slain Muslim shopkeeper was ‘not a real Muslim’, it has been reported.

Shiraz Maher, a researcher at King’s College London, wrote on Facebook that he does not ‘regard Ahmadis as Muslims’ – days after a taxi driver admitted killing Asad Shah because he ‘disrespected’ Islam’.

Mr Shah, part of the Ahmadiyya community, was knifed to death in his shop in what was feared at the time to have been a sectarian attack against the peace-loving branch of Islam he followed.

Earlier this month, taxi driver Tanveer Ahmed, accused of his murder, said through his lawyer that he killed the much-loved family man because he had claimed to be ‘a prophet’.

Days later Mr Maher, a senior research fellow at the International Centre for the Study of Radicalisation, reportedly wrote on Facebook: ‘I really wonder if I’m missing something here but I don’t regard Ahmadis as Muslim.’…”

  9. Air France Resumes Flights to Iran After 8 Years (abcnews, Apr 17, 2016)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/air-france-resumes-flights-iran-years-38465342

“Air France resumed flights to Iran Sunday after last year’s landmark deal to curb Iranian nuclear activities, as part of larger French and European efforts to rebuild trade ties long frozen by sanctions.

The direct flight from Paris to Tehran was the first since 2008. French Transport Minister Alain Vidalies and a business leaders’ delegation were on board flight AF 378 that took off from Roissy Charles de Gaulle airport after noon.

Air France CEO Frederic Gagey was optimistic the line would prove profitable. “It’s a touristic destination which I believe is going to become very popular, very attractive,” he said. Air France is also counting on Paris to become a hub for American and other tourists headed to Tehran.

Asghar Fakhrieh Kashan, Iran’s deputy transport minister, welcomed the resumption of the flight. “The current situation has fortunately given the opportunity to both countries to restore their relations to their normal former state. It interestingly seems that the Islamic Republic’s aviation sector has been dominated by France and French industries,” he said….”

    • It wouldn’t have taken long before Saudi would have been breaking the agreement, they are fighting a war and need the money the extra oil brings in. They also need to bank large sums overseas so the Royal Family will have something to live on if they have to cut and run.

  10. Syrian opposition negotiator calls for renewed attacks on regime despite truce (france24, Apr 17, 2016)
    http://www.france24.com/en/20160417-syria-opposition-negotiator-calls-renewed-attacks-regime-despite-truce

“The Syrian opposition’s chief negotiator on Sunday called for renewed attacks on regime forces, despite the shaky truce deal between government troops and rebel fighters.

Mohammed Alloush, a leading political figure in the Jaish al-Islam (Army of Islam) rebel group, is in Geneva as the senior negotiator of the High Negotiations Committee.

A fellow opposition figure said Alloush’s hawkish statement did not represent the HNC’s position.

“Don’t trust the regime and don’t wait for their pity,” Alloush wrote on Twitter.

“Strike them at their necks (kill them). Strike them everywhere,” he said, reciting a passage from the Koran dealing with war.

Alloush’s Jaish al-Islam is party to the fragile ceasefire deal between Syria’s government and non-jihadist rebel groups.

Brokered by the US and Russia, the truce had seen violence drop across parts of Syria since it came into force on February 27.

But a recent surge of fighting in the northern province of Aleppo has threatened to collapse the deal and derail the peace talks in Switzerland.

Jaish al-Islam is the most powerful rebel group in the Eastern Ghouta opposition bastion outside Damascus.

Alloush himself was relatively unknown before joining the HNC because he had spent much of his life in Saudi Arabia pursuing Islamic religious studies.

“Alloush’s position is personal. We as the HNC cannot adopt this position,” said Yahya al-Aridi, a member of the broader consultative delegation in Geneva, when asked about Alloush’s statement.

More than 270,000 people have been killed and millions more have been displaced since Syria’s conflict erupted in 2011.”

    • Military support!!! The only two nations (using the word loosely in one case) are ISIS and Israel. Is France really signing on to help Lebanon the next time Hezbollah forces Israel to attack to remove the rapidly growing threat to their existence?

  11. EU ‘financing Nazi meeting in Stockholm’ (thelocal, Apr 17, 2016)
    http://www.thelocal.se/20160417/eu-financing-nazi-meeting-in-stockholm

“One of the legislative arms of the EU, the European Parliament, is funding a neo-Nazi meeting in Stockholm this summer, according to Swedish anti-racist magazine, Expo.

According to Expo, the European Parliament had already granted 3.6 million kronor (€400,000) to Europa Terra Nostra, a foundation linked to the pan-European fascist association Alliance for Peace and Freedom (APF), this January.

Now it’s paid out an additional 1.8 million kronor (€196,000) in contributions to the Europa Terra Nostra.

The money will be used to organize “Manhem Day” – a meeting in Stockholm this summer, in which a number of Nazi and fascist organizations will participate.

The chairman of the Europa Terra Nostra is Swede, Dan Eriksson, a stalwart of the Swedish Nazi scene.

These contributions come in spite of a recent tightening of rules meant to prevent aid being given to anti-democratic groups.

In 2014, the European Parliament tightened up its rules governing funding for European-level political parties.

The aim was to prevent economic support going to parties that contravene the EU’s fundamental human rights principles.

In particular, politicians claimed the new rules would deprive the far-right party Alliance of European National Movements (AENM) of the EU funding it was receiving.

However, in spite of the new rules, the European Parliament this January granted some €400,000 to APF in January.

The APF is an association of European Nazis, fascists and Holocaust deniers. Their chairman is Roberto Fiore, a terror convict and veteran of the European far right.

The Swedish Nazi Stefan Jacobsson is secretary general of the APF.

Previously, he led the Nazi Svenskarnas parti (Party of the Swedes) and has a long history in the white-power movement.

In the early 2000s, he held a leading position within the militant Nazi Svenska Motståndsrörelsen (Swedish Resistance Movement).”

    • Looks like the socialist in the EU are planning on destroying the national governments and then turning the new Nazi’s loose to enforce the EU laws.

“Kano (Nigeria) (AFP) – Nigeria’s security services have hailed the arrest of the leader of the Boko Haram splinter group Ansaru, Khalid al-Barnawi, saying it will lead to them to other senior Islamist commanders.

“The arrest of Barnawi is a huge success and will have a profound effect on counter-terrorism operations in Nigeria and beyond,” one security source told AFP.

“He is a known transnational terrorist and the backbone of all Al-Qaeda affiliate groups in West Africa.”

Barnawi, designated a global terrorist by the United States since 2012, was detained on April 1 with three others in the Kogi state capital, Lokoja, and found with four Thuraya satellite phones.

The phones “provided several leads” to “high-profile Boko Haram and Ansaru elements” in the capital, Abuja, Lokoja and the central city of Jos, said another source…”

    http://www.latimes.com/world/asia/la-fg-indonesia-caning-20160416-story.html

“A 60-year-old Christian woman convicted of selling alcohol was given a choice for her punishment: jail time or caning.

She chose caning, and in doing so last week became the first non-Muslim in Indonesia to receive the punishment under sharia law.

Remita Sinaga, a Protestant, received 28 lashes from a rattan cane Tuesday in the town of Takengon in Aceh province.

Pictures posted online show Sinaga standing in a purple head scarf, her head downcast; beside her a person veiled in black extends the cane, as if preparing to administer a blow. A few onlookers watch in the background.

Sinaga was found guilty by a Central Aceh Islamic court of selling alcohol, after police seized 50 bottles of alcoholic beverages from her stall. Sinaga had been given a sentence of 30 lashes, but it was reduced to take into account time she spent in detention…”
