Geopolitics, the return of a few migrants and Turkish warships enter Ukraine dispute? Links 1 on April 4 – 2016

1. Greece: Pro-refugee demo too late as first migrants deported to Turkey from Lesbos

2. US seizes thousands of Iranian weapons, including grenade launchers, in Arabian Sea

(Video at site)

The crew of a U.S. Navy ship stopped a massive Iranian arms shipment dead in its tracks, seizing thousands of weapons, AK-47 rifles and rocket-propelled grenade launchers that likely were headed to Yemen, the Pentagon announced Monday.

The seizure, which unfolded in the Arabian Sea on March 28, was the third of its kind in recent weeks, military officials say. Iran has been supporting Houthi rebels in Yemen in their proxy war against a Saudi-led coalition backed by the United States. Like Iran, the Houthis are a Shia-led group.

The arms shipment appears to mark the latest provocative action from the defiant Islamic republic, which reported last month that it tested missiles marked with the phrase “Israel must be wiped out.” And on Monday, the Iranian government warned the U.S. to butt out of trying to control its missile program. “The White House should know that defense capacities and missile power, specially at the present juncture where plots and threats are galore, is among the Iranian nation’s red lines… and we don’t allow anyone to violate it,” Deputy Chief of Staff Brig-Gen Maassoud Jazzayeri told state media.

4. Xinjiang: Bob Woodruff’s Journey Inside Alleged ISIS Breeding Ground

(It stuns me that ABC would send someone that far at that expense and take this much risk just to enforce the narrative by not saying pretty much anything at all about the problem. The only thing you get out of the video is, the terrorism problem comes from its Muslims. But you only get that by inference. not by the presentation.

5. First group of muslims deported from Greece back to Turkey arrive back where they legally are supposed to be. A few isolated people demand that Europe open the borders to them. None of them seem to concerned about the refusal of Saudi Arabia to take even one of them whatsoever.

6. Ukraine: Turkish warships deployed in Odessa in Turkish-Ukrainian deal

(IS Turkey NATO yes or no?)

Thank you M., Richard, Wrath of Khan, Kathy, DP111 and a great gang of others. Lots of stuff of consequence being worked on. I hope to post it all tonight.

  1. I think Turkey is playing with fire, this movement of warships and the the attack by its ally Azebejan (I can’t be arsed to check the exact spelling of that Muslim state which used to be a USSR member) against Armenia in NK which has Turkish fingerprints all over it.

I think the Russians played that incursion very well, they are just waiting for Turkey to over play their hand and to be blunt its only a question of time.

    • Putin is playing the Game of Thrones with great skill, Erdogon (sp?) with much less skill and Obama seems to be playing Go Fish. I agree that Turkey is going to over play their hand and cause NATO to tell Putin he has a free hand. We are living through a time when the world is changing, and changing much more then it did before WWII. Before this year is over people will not recognize the nation they are living in and within a couple of years they will look back to the current time with nostalgia.

      • The Turk was shocked – !! – shocked – !! – by the abuse to which he was subjected as the VIP-est VIP in this country last week.

He doesn’t reckon himself outranked by genuine royalty also here for the shindig, the tiny King of Jordan. It’s a would-be sultan vs descendent of the Pirate Prophet distinction impenetrably dense to the kuffir-observer.

0 dissed him utterly, even going so far as to flaunt his new toy-boy from Canada in front of the aging old Queen. Even I was embarrassed by such public kiss-y-facing. And to decline to attend the ribbon-cutting of the monumental MB-acquisition – as symbolically significant in certain quarters as the Louisiana Purchase – well, that was just plain cruel.

        Now this beggars belief:
Strobe Talbott, chairman of the Brookings Institution – an influence-peddling, enemy-agent PAC, whose biggest current client is the Muslim Brotherhood, Inc. – finally boiled-over. He called Erdo personally [via interpreter], threatened to cancel his invitation unless he pulled the Turk goons off American journalists immediately.

Talbott had been doing a slow burn. Then suddenly exploded as the Queen was doing his final primping one hour before showtime.

I can’t imagine the tightly-laced master of corporate diplomacy making such an ultimatum without the prior approval of the Spider Emperor of the MB, the crowned head of Qatar.

You can be sure Uncle Vlad was following this drama in real time. Though he upstaged the lot of them by his eloquent no-show.

        • ” Spider Emperor of the MB, the crowned head of Qatar.”
          I really like it. 😉

          • Thanks, Kathy.
I always think of that evil little Qatar as a poisonous spider who could – should! – squashed so easily.

              • Right you are, Sifu.
                grasshopper

(I called all my martial arts masters “Sifu”. These days someone would criticize me as a running dog for Chinese cultural imperialism.
My teachers always respected Chinese tradition as a foundation for their own enhancements.)

    • “Alleged” journey, “alleged” reporter. Only thing’s certain is Bob’s an idiot. Content-free, fails even as a travelogue.

Bob must have an over-indulgent, influential parent. We’re watching network resources rapidly circle down the drain.

      • Well, Chinese would NOT allow the reporter to really do a report from Xinjiang. IN all probability reported had to do his itinerary approved first with the certain chinese government department, then he was probably look after by some people from this department and of course he would not be allowed to make any “normal” interview. NO way.
As for Xinjiang, the fault there lies both with Muslims and with Chinese government.
The Chinese government try to do Chinese out of them, Muslims are not allowed to be in any higher ranks in the government because higher ranks must be member of communists party (same goes for Christians), they will not get loans, their houses will be destroyed if there is some governmental project (the Chinese government is the owner of all the land in China), they have different schools/different classes from Chinese Han people (in the same school there are usually couple of different classes for Chinese and for all minorities, they even have different teachers) and so on and so for.
On the other hand Muslims do not learn good Chinese, they follow their religion, they are thought of as lazy by Chinese (although Chinese think everyone else lazy) and so for and so on. And, of course, recently some of them support ISIS. However taking into consideration “Great Internet Wall of China” and the ban on You Tube in China majority of them did not even learn much about ISIS not to mention following ISIS, yet. It will probably come in future.
So the situation over there is quite complicated.

        • ups, sorry for mistakes
IN all probability the reporter’s itinerary had to be approved first by the certain Chinese governmental department. , Then he was probably followed and/or got a “helper” from this department and of course he would not be allowed to make any “normal” interview.

          • I’m sure they were monitored even before their visas came through. Why would they think otherwise?

China is a super-power. Doesn’t pretend to be benign; in fact it’s becoming more aggressive and paranoid by the day. An idiot pretending to do an expose in such a volatile region? Nobody in China would take him seriously, but nobody could allow a child to play with matches in a powder keg.

The arrogant naivite, “I’m pretending to do selfies,” that’s what’s really offensive. ABC imitating VICE, coming up short. Pathetic.

      • Bob’s great reputation was gained because he found one man who thought he was pass over for a promotion and decided to rat out his fellow arrogant self proclaimed elite. You will find that he managed to break very few major news stories after that, but instead lived on his reputation. The left is letting him live on that rep praying we don’t notice that he isn’t really a very good reporter.
