  1. Young French Identitaires blocked 3 bridges in Calais to prevent access to violent “refugees” and protect Calaisians. The young French patriots were “evicted” – 13 of them were arrested . The corrupt socialist French government does not even hide its dirty cards any longer: they are on the side of the Jihadist against a group “La generation Identitaire” that is French, Patriotic and non-violent (so far). I am completely supportive of them and their actions. Readers of Vladtepes might remember them, when they climbed onto the roof of a Mosque and held a banner.
    This is ongoing right now.

    • It is looking like the crowd was for the most part moveon.org and black lives matter with some students who were working on some dirty tricks programs for the speech. The two violent groups probably had plans but it will take a long time for this infor to get out.

      • I know you don’t want to post a lot about the internal politics of the US but I think this should be seen

        • Its fine in the comments. I just try and avoid it in the actual posts for a few reasons unless it has to do with growing totalitarianism or Islam.

        • FYI for the past a6 to 24 years groups have been working to clean up the elections by requiring all voters to present a picture ID issued by the government. You know the ones that have to be shown when people sign up for welfare. The Dems have been fighting these laws saying they would suppress the vote, they have\, the people ar being forced to vote only once.

  2. This i s probably just more bluster but…..

North Korea submarine ‘goes missing’ during US and South Korea drills
North Korea says its military is ready to pre-emptively attack and ‘liberate’ the South if it sees signs that American and South Korean troops involved in annual joint military drills are attempting to invade the North

A North Korean submarine is missing, reports said on Saturday, as the reclusive state issued a fresh threat of retaliation against US and South Korean forces involved in joint military drills.

The unknown class of vessel had been reportedly operating off the North Korean coast earlier in the week when it disappeared.

A South Korean defence ministry told AFP Seoul was investigating the reports. Pentagon officials declined to comment on the matter.

The US military had been observing the submarine off the North’s eastern coast, CNN said, citing three US officials familiar with the incident

ectured by the president of tiny Macedonia. Challenged at EU summits. Defied by supposed allies in Austria and Bavaria.

Such is the lot these days of Europe’s most powerful leader, Angela Merkel. The once-unassailable force in Brussels and Germany is now being worn down by an epic migration crisis.

or Ms Merkel, no crisis has been as personal, as divisive at home or as damaging to her core European alliances. On Sunday, voters will have the opportunity to render their verdict on her handling of it as they go to the polls in three regions.

As this week’s dramatic Brussels summit made clear, Ms Merkel is still doggedly fighting for a pan-European plan in which EU borders would remain open, with inflows of refugees controlled directly from Turkey.

But facts on the ground are being shaped by critics — notably Austria in the EU, and rightwing forces at home, led by her own political allies as well as the populist Alternative für Deutschland — harrying her to close borders and set limits on migrant flows.

While she has resisted, fortress Europe has become a reality along the western Balkans route that was the favoured path for more than 1m migrants to reach the heart of Europe last year.

    • Germany: Merkel talks migrant crisis at rally ahead of crucial regional elections

German Chancellor Angela Merkel campaigned for Guido Wolf, the CDU’s candidate for Baden-Wurttemberg, during a rally in Haigerloch on Saturday. The event was held one day ahead of Sunday’s regional elections in Germany.

SOT, Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany (German): “Those who want quick decisions on asylum issues, on issues of the Geneva refugee convention, on questions about providing shelter for those who need it, while refusing entry to those who don’t need protection – and we lost time there – must vote for CDU.”

SOT, Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany (German): “You will come home soon. Then you will have lunch or not; you will have something at latest while drinking coffee or having dinner. Anyway, there you go again, and not all of the families will have attended this event here. You will be asked ‘How was it? Did they talk about polls, or what else did they talk about? Did Merkel’s red [blazer] match the orange [of the election poster], better than the pink recently? Did Wolf look nice?'”

SOT, Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany (German): “By all means – and I say that it is good for Baden-Wurttemberg if we as Christian Democratic Union can make a government transition with Guido Wolf as minister-president and his team – let us fight for it with full determination in these last hours.”

  4. President’s troops partially break siege of Yemen’s third city

ADEN (Reuters) – Troops loyal to Yemen’s president have captured the western entrance to the strategic city of Taiz, partially breaking a siege by Houthi fighters allied with Iran, medical and military sources said on Saturday.

At least 48 people have been killed in heavy clashes in Yemen’s third biggest city, the medics and local fighters said, and at least 120 people have been wounded. Witnesses said there were bodies scattered in the streets.

Supporters of President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, backed by a Saudi-led Arab coalition, have been trying for months to lift the siege of the southwestern city and open up key supply routes.

The struggle is part of coalition efforts since March last year to roll back Houthi gains and restore Hadi, who is currently in Saudi Arabia, to power. The war has devastated the country, killed more than 6,000 people and displaced millions.

The reported capture of the western entrance to Taiz, where nearly half of the 250,000 residents had been trapped since May, was hailed by the government-run sabanew.net news agency as a major breakthrough. It said Hadi and his deputy, Khaled Bahah, had telephoned the local military commander to congratulate him on the victory.

Meanwhile sabanews.net, another news agency controlled by Houthis, said fighters from the group killed 27 Hadi supporters.

  5. Thousands are expected to protest against German Chancellor Angela Merkel and her migration policy in front of Berlin’s main train station (Hauptbahnhof) on Saturday, March 12.

The event that has been organised by the far-right group ‘we for Berlin & we for Germany’, is asking for the replacement of German Chancellor Angela Merkel, and among other things, the reintroduction of border controls in the European Union and the protection and promotion of family values.

The anti-fascist alliance ‘Berlin Nazifrei‘ is expected to protest against the gathering calling to stop hostile attacks and protests against refugees.

  6. Thousands rally against Polish govt as constitutional crisis deepens

WARSAW (Reuters) – Tens of thousands of Poles marched through Warsaw on Saturday demanding their government respect the constitution, in an escalation of a confrontation pitting the opposition, the country’s top court and the EU against the ruling conservatives.

Waving Polish and EU flags and chanting “constitution”, the crowds on the opposition rally called on the government to recognize a court ruling against divisive legal reforms.

The eurosceptic Law and Justice (PiS) party has faced growing criticism from the European Union, the United States and rights groups since it swept to power in October and increased controls on media and other institutions.

Poland’s constitutional court said on Wednesday that the government’s decision to increase the number of its judges needed to make rulings was illegal, deepening a crisis that has stirred concerns about democracy and the rule of law in the EU’s largest eastern member.

Critics say the reforms, which also change the order in which cases are heard at the top court, have made it difficult for judges to review, let alone challenge, the government’s legislation.

But the government on Saturday repeated its refusal to publish the constitutional court’s ruling in an official journal, saying the ruling itself was illegal and effectively leaving the court order in legal limbo.

    • Poland: Thousands rally over government’s constitutional court reform

Thousands of protesters amassed in front of the Constitutional Tribunal building in Warsaw, Saturday, to demand that the ruling Law and Justice Party (PiS) release the court’s judgment on the government’s changes to Poland’s constitution.

The protest, which was organised by the centrist Modern Party, was aimed to show support for the country’s embattled high court. Modern Party Spokesperson Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz said “Many of us are afraid that we will have dictatorship in Poland. Do not be afraid, come with us, we will defend the Polish constitution, we will defend democracy.”

The government stated on Saturday that it won’t publish the Constitutional Tribunal’s decision that ruled against legislative changes, passed by PiS in December, which restricted the court and granted increased state power over the media.

    • This movement (KOD) is supported and the whole problem is being blown up by the Western media, by Western economic interests and particularly, by government of Germany. Previous Polish government was very much pro-German, pro-migrant, pro-globalization. It was also very much pro-EU and anti-patriotic, patriots, or anyone who put Polish interests first, was described as old-fashioned idiot. The religious Catholics were described as fanatics who are worse or the same as jihadists. Therefore the previous government was supported by Merkel and by Germany’s big business. This government is opposite. Although some might disagree with some of its decisions, it is starting to do things which should have been done long before. And because of that a lot of money and support is going to the people who protest against present, democratically, elected government. If there would be no money from the German big business, and if the Western media did not give free voice only to polish opposition, we wouldn’t be in this mess. Protesters are getting money and support from outside , although some of them are just useful idiots. . Poland is a sovereign country, and the ruling was from a court sponsored by EU.
      To hell with the ruling.

        • It seems that the Venetian court ruled that the blame for constitutional crisis is equally divided between the present and the old government.

          • The blame will end up belonging to the left, the only reason this isn’t recognized right now is because way too many reporters, editors and Judges are left wingers and those who aren’t are semi afraid of what will happen if they are too open about putting the blame on the left. As the war progresses more and more people will stop supporting the left and we can return to rational political actions and Judicial decisions.

            • Richard,
the situation is more complicated than that. And there are many different foreign interests coming to fore in this matter.

  8. Peruvians march against Fujimori after rivals barred from elections

LIMA (Reuters) – Thousands of Peruvians marched in downtown Lima on Friday to demand the electoral board bar presidential frontrunner Keiko Fujimori from next month’s vote after it disqualified two of her rivals in an unprecedented move that has shaken the race.

Protesters said the center-right politician should be thrown from the race because pictures and video show her and a running mate handing out gifts and prizes at rallies in possible violation of a new law against vote-buying.

Electoral authorities are investigating the accusations.

Fujimori, the 40-year-old daughter of imprisoned ex-president Alberto Fujimori, has dismissed the accusations as “absurd.” Her press officer did not immediately respond to requests for comment outside regular working hours.

One of Fujimori’s rivals was thrown out of the race on Wednesday for giving cash to poor voters while campaigning. Her biggest obstacle to winning, Julio Guzman, was disqualified because his party did not comply with electoral procedures – a decision he called “fraud” that threatens to tarnish the legacy of the next president.

The electoral board has denied wrongdoing or political bias.

  9. The Latest: Germany: Vote Won’t Change Migrant Policy (abcnews, Mar 12, 2016)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/latest-hollande-chairing-meeting-european-issues-37598843

“… Germany’s vice chancellor is making clear that likely gains for a nationalist party in state elections on Sunday won’t change his government’s stance on migrants.

The Alternative for Germany, or AfD, party is expected to win seats in three more German state legislatures in the election amid unease over Chancellor Angela Merkel’s welcome last year for large numbers of refugees and her insistence on pursuing a Europe-wide solution to the migrant crisis.

Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel said after meeting fellow center-left European leaders in Paris on Saturday that a large majority of voters will choose “democratic parties” and that “we shouldn’t start to panic.”

He added: “There is a clear position that we stand by: humanity and solidarity. We will not change our position now because of 10 percent right-wing radicals.”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/report-turkish-airstrikes-iraq-kill-67-pkk-militants-37599236

“Turkey’s state-run news agency says the military has carried out air strikes against Kurdish rebel targets across the border in northern Iraq, killing at least 67 militants.

Anadolu Agency, citing unnamed security sources, said Saturday that 14 F-16 and F-4 jets were involved in the March 9 strikes which allegedly destroyed ammunition depots, bunkers and shelters belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party, or PKK.

The agency said the offensive targeted five areas in northern Iraq, including the Qandil mountains on the Iraq-Iraq border where the PKK’s leadership is based.

Turkey’s jets have frequently bombed PKK sites in northern Iraq since July, when a fragile peace process between the government and rebels collapsed.

The PKK, which is fighting for autonomy for Kurds in Turkey’s southeast, is listed as a terrorist organization.”

  11. Iraqi Officials: IS Chemical Attacks Kill Child, Wound 600 (abcnews, Mar 12, 2016)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/iraqi-officials-chemical-attacks-kill-child-wound-600-37599129

“The Islamic State group has launched two chemical attacks near the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, killing a three-year-old girl, wounding some 600 people and causing hundreds more to flee, Iraqi officials said Saturday.

Security and hospital officials say the latest attack took place early Saturday in the small town of Taza, which was also struck by a barrage of rockets carrying chemicals three days earlier.

“There is fear and panic among the women and children,” said Adel Hussein, a local official in Taza. “They’re calling for the central government to save them.” Hussein said a German and an American forensics team arrived in the area to test for the presence of chemical agents.

The wounded are suffering from infected burns, suffocation and dehydration, said Helmi Hamdi, a nurse at the Taza hospital. He said eight people were transferred to Baghdad for treatment.

U.S. and Iraqi officials said U.S. special forces captured the head of the IS unit trying to develop chemical weapons in a raid last month in northern Iraq.

The U.S.-led coalition said the chemicals IS has so far used include chlorine and a low-grade sulfur mustard which is not very potent. “It’s a legitimate threat. It’s not a high threat. We’re not, frankly, losing too much sleep over it,” U.S. Army Col. Steve Warren told reporters Friday.

The coalition began targeting IS’ chemical weapons infrastructure with airstrikes and special operations raids two months ago, Iraqi intelligence officials and a Western security official in Baghdad told the AP.

Airstrikes are targeting laboratories and equipment, and further special forces raids targeting chemical weapons experts are planned, the officials said. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to brief reporters.

The extremist group is believed to have set up a special unit for chemical weapons research made up of Iraqi scientists who worked on weapons programs under Saddam Hussein as well as foreign experts.

The group is believed to have created limited amounts of mustard gas. Tests confirmed mustard gas was used in a town in Syria when IS was launching attacks there in August 2015. There have been other unverified reports of IS using chemical agents on battlefields in Syria and Iraq.”

Refugees, including several children, protested at Idomeni’s makeshift refugee camp by lying down on rail tracks and blocking train traffic on Saturday morning, demanding Macedonian authorities to open the border.

As the refugees lay down on the railway tracks, they held signs reading “Open the border” and “We understand the EU advocates human rights not human trafficking.” Some signs contained more complex evaluations of Europe’s current refugee politics, such as “I’m child and might not know much, but I believe treating people disrespectful for being born on the other side of the planet is called: ‘RACISM'”.

  13. FINLAND – 600+ tractors in downtown Helsinki: Farmers protest against food policy, sanctions on Russia

More than 3,000 farmers in Finland on Friday descended on Helsinki to protest against the government’s agriculture and food policy.
The farmers, along with 600 tractors, came from across the country and parked on Senate Square in the heart of the capital to call on the government to support the country’s agricultural sector, which has been suffering as a result of falling food prices and European Union sanctions on Russia, a key export market for the sector.

Januar fortgesetzt.

  17. Germany: Thousands march in Berlin against Merkel’s refugee policies

Around 3000 demonstrators marched through central Berlin, Saturday, against Chancellor Angela Merkel’s handling of the refugee crisis.

The demonstrators held placards reading ‘Merkel must go” while chanting slogans against the Chancellor. The event, organised by far-right group “We for Berlin & We for Germany”, called for German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s resignation, and more severe border controls within the European Union.

    • The ordinary people are orginizing, it is probably too late for a peaceful solution but not to late for the west to fight and save its identity and culture.

  18. France: Thousands march against state of emergency law in Paris

Several thousand protesters marched through Paris, Saturday, against the state of emergency that has been in place in France since the deadly attacks in the capital last November.

According to the protesters, the state of emergency has been exploited and misused by the French authorities. Spokesperson for The Collective against Islamophobia in France Yasser Louati said “In 3 months we have had 3,400 searches of homes by police for just 4 cases of terrorism. They wrecked flats, mosques, brutalised families, humiliated mothers and children.”

    • The French people are leading the way, and aren’t far from open rebellion as the counter revolution gains strength.

  19. EGYPT – TV guest jailed for 3 years for comments on Egyptian women’s infidelity

Taymour El-Sobki claimed that 30 percent of Egyptian women have a ‘readiness for immorality’ and that Upper Egyptian wives are particularly liable to cheat

A TV guest who speculated about the unfaithfulness of Egyptian wives was sentenced to three years in prison on Saturday by a Giza court for “spreading false news that aims to disrupt general peace.”

Taymour El-Sobki, who runs a humorous Facebook page called “The Diary of a Suffering Man” which has garnered over a million likes, created controversy when he appeared on the programme Momken (“It’s Possible”) on CBC channel, opining about infidelity among married women.

“Thirty percent of women have a readiness for immorality… but cannot find someone to encourage them,” he said.

El-Sobki claimed that women in the Upper Egyptian governorates of Assiut, Minya, Sohag, Qena, Luxor, and Aswan were particularly likely to be unfaithful because of arranged marriages and local men working abroad.

Although the episode aired in December, clips began circulating on social media in February, causing a public outcry. His comments were denounced by a number of MPs representing Upper Egyptian constituencies as an insult to local women.

He later apologised, and said his remarks were “taken out of context.”

He was arrested in February and remains in custody following his conviction by the Giza misdemeanor court, with no bail set. A first appeal hearing is scheduled for 30 March.

Momken was suspended for 15 days in the wake of the controversy. Host Khairy Ramadan and CBC have also apologised for El-Sobki’s comments.

Egypt court sentences blogger to 3 years for insulting women

CAIRO (AP) — An Egyptian court sentenced a blogger to three years in jail with hard labor on Saturday for “spreading false news” after he said about 45 percent of married Egyptian women have the readiness for “immorality” and to cheat on their husbands.

The court said that Taymour el-Sobki’s comments on a talk show in December would harm the public peace and damage the public interest. He can still appeal the sentence.

El-Sobky faced a backlash from other TV talk show hosts and civilians who filed complaints to public prosecutors accusing him of insulting Egyptian women.

Public prosecutors, who have the right to vet such complaints and to choose which ones to pursue, charged el-Sobky and took him to court on these grounds.

“We can criticize or reject the comments he made, but he did not commit a crime,” said prominent rights lawyer Gamal Eid.

Under President Abdel-Fattah el-Sissi, authorities have waged crackdowns against Islamists, then left-wing activists and finally against broader dissent. But lately, many activists say harassment and threats have broadened even to people with no connection to politics or activism.

Artists, writers, and intellectuals have expressed fear over the future of free speech and creativity in Egypt following a two-year sentence handed by an appeals court last month against author Ahmed Naji for violating “public modesty” through publishing an excerpt of his novel containing a sex scene in an Egyptian literary magazine.

Naji’s detention in a Cairo prison following the sentencing hit Egypt’s artistic and intellectual community hard as it followed recent sentences handed to the TV presenter and researcher Islam Behery, who is serving a year-long prison sentence for “defaming religious symbols” and the writer Fatma Naoot, who has appealed a three-year sentence for defaming Islam.

Eid said el-Sobki’s case has similar attributes with the expulsion from parliament of Tawfiq Okasha earlier this month as a response to him meeting Israel’s ambassador to Egypt.

“The two issues seem to be unrelated, but they both share the same attribute …. Okasha did not break the law,” said Eid. “The two incidents were handled outside the realm of the law.”

The cases, Eid said, are an example of how “it is not the law, but it is pressure and public opinion, and rallying around someone, that acquits or incriminates him.”

“Unfortunately these are not isolated cases,” said Eid. “They come in the context of that the state itself violates the law day and night, and implements it haphazardly.”

  20. Egypt discovers enormous tunnels coming from Gaza

Tunnels big enough to fit a truck have been discovered by the Egyptian military on the Sinai-Gaza border. These tunnels are allegedly the source of weapons being used by ISIS and Islamic Jihad in the peninsula, and point to a thriving weapons industry in the Strip.

Hamas has been digging tunnels on the border of Egypt that are big enough to permit vehicles the size of trucks to go through, according to Egyptian security officials.

The tunnels connect the Gaza Strip with the Sinai Peninsula, and are being built in order to compensate for the tunnels which were flooded or blocked by the Egyptians.

These enormous tunnels, some of which stretch for over three kilometers, are designed to traverse the security zone Egypt set up between the border with Gaza and the Sinai. This security zone – which ranges between half a kilometer and a kilometer in length on the Egyptian side – has been cleared out of any buildings or people. The area has also been flooded in order to block the existing shafts into the tunnels.

These tunnels are meant to transfer fighters and weapons, as well as building materials and other imports in an effort by Hamas to break the economic siege imposed on the Strip, Egyptian officials said.

Israeli security officials don’t know of any tunnels that large crossing into Israel. However, if they do exist, Israel will have to take into account the possibility of the existence of tunnels that are over three kilometers in length, which will make them harder to find.

  22. Migrant crisis: Turkish guards hit migrant boat with sticks (BBC, Mar 12, 2016)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35794563

“The BBC has been given a video showing Turkish coastguard using sticks against a boat full of migrants as they sail to Greece in the Aegean Sea.

The incident is said to have happened in Turkish waters as the migrants were on their way to the island of Lesbos.

The migrants accused the coastguard of attacking them, but the coastguard say they were trying to stop the boat without harming the occupants.

The EU and Turkey are discussing new moves to curb the flow of refugees.

Europe is facing its biggest refugee crisis since World War Two. Last year, more than a million people entered the EU illegally by boat, mainly going from Turkey to Greece.

More than 132,000 migrants have arrived by boat into Greece so far this year – a large increase on the same period last year…”

  23. Most French also want vote on EU membership: UK study (thelocal, Mar 12, 2016)
    http://www.thelocal.fr/20160312/most-french-also-want-vote-on-eu-membership-uk-study

“Most French people want to follow Britain by holding a referendum on the country’s European Union membership, although they would likely vote to remain in the bloc, a British study has shown.

Some 53 percent of French respondents to a survey conducted by the University of Edinburgh said they should also have a vote, with 44 percent saying they would vote to stay in if one was held, against 33 percent who would leave.

The “View from the Continent” study polled 8,002 respondents across Germany, France, Poland, Spain, Ireland and Sweden about their views on Britain’s EU membership, which will be decided at a referendum on June 23rd, and the possibility of holding a similar vote themselves.

In Sweden, Germany and Spain, more respondents were in favour of holding a referendum than against, but not an absolute majority when those who were undecided were taken into account.

Only in Poland and Ireland did an absolute majority not want a vote.

If they were to go to the polls, 60 percent of Germans would vote to stay in, compared to 66 percent in Poland, 68 percent in Spain and 69 percent in Ireland.

When asked if they wanted Britain to remain, France was the only country in which there was not an absolute majority who said “yes”.

“Between two-thirds and fourth-fifths of respondents in each country want Britain to remain in the EU, with the exception of France where public opinion is tighter, with 56 per cent wanting Britain to remain, but 44 per cent saying they want Britain to leave,” said the study which was published earlier this week.

Under half of those polled in both France and Germany believed that Britain’s membership was good for the EU.

Spain was the strongest in favour of Britain remaining, at 81 percent followed by Poland (80 percent), Ireland (79 percent) and Germany (73 percent).

Most countries think that Britain would fare worse outside the bloc, but in both France and Sweden, more people think its economy would do better outside of the EU.

Around half of Germans were in favour of Britain remaining in the EU’s single market in the event of a so-called Brexit, compared to only a quarter of French respondents.

“Our survey shows a willingness to reform the EU, but less so for an individual country to gain exceptional treatment,” said report author Jan Eichhorn, of the University of Edinburgh’s school of social and political science.

British Prime Minister David Cameron secured reforms to four areas of the EU as part of a pre-referendum push to take back some powers from Brussels.

His bid to reduce access to welfare for EU migrants appeared popular across the continent with 46 percent of German and 53 percent French respondents backing a cap.”

  25. Islamic State using birth control to keep supply of sex slave: NY Times (reuters, Mar 12, 2016)
    http://www.reuters.com/article/us-mideast-crisis-yazidi-idUSKCN0WE0VK

“The Islamic State is using several forms of contraception to maintain its supply of sex slaves, the New York Times reported on Saturday, citing interviews with more than three dozen Yazidi women who escaped from the militant group.

The New York Times reported that Islamic State used “oral and injectable contraception, and sometimes both” to ensure that the women did not become pregnant and could be passed among the fighters.

“In at least one case, a woman was forced to have an abortion in order to make her available for sex, and others were pressured to do so,” the paper said.

Islamic State militants consider the Yazidis to be devil-worshippers. The Yazidi faith has elements of Christianity, Zoroastrianism and Islam. Most of the Yazidi population, numbering around half a million, remains displaced in camps inside the autonomous entity in Iraq’s north known as Kurdistan.

Until late last year, some 5,000 Yazidi men and women were captured by the militants in the summer of 2014. Of those, around 2,000 had managed to escape or been smuggled out of Islamic State’s self-proclaimed caliphate, activists said.

The New York Times, citing a gynecologist who carried out the examinations, said that out of the more than 700 Yazidi rape victims who had gone to a United Nations-backed clinic in Iraq, only 5 percent had become pregnant during their enslavement.

Dr. Nezar Ismet Taib, head of the Ministry of Health Directorate in Dohuk which oversees the clinic, said that number was much lower than expected, according to the newspaper.

The United Nations and human rights groups have accused the Islamic State of the systematic abduction and rape of thousands of women and girls as young as 12. Many have been given to fighters as a reward or sold as sex slaves.

Far from trying to conceal the practice, Islamic State has boasted about it and established a department of “war spoils” to manage slavery. Reuters reported on the existence of the department on Monday.”

Tunisia’s leaders have called for civil servants and the general public to donate part of their income to an “anti-terrorism fund”, following a deadly assault on a town near the Libyan border.

Tunisian President Caid Essebsi made the appeal on Saturday as he showed up at a post office in the capital Tunis to offer a donation to a newly-created fund to raise money for the cause.

He donated one month of his salary, Tunisia’s state news agency TAP reported.

The president also urged Tunisians at home and abroad to make donations “in support of military and security institutions well as the national efforts to combat terrorism”, according to the agency.

“Security forces have killed 24 fighters of the terrorist group of Islamic State (IS) which is also known by its Arabic name Daesh in eastern Nangarhar province.

Hong Kong is a truly remarkable jurisdiction.

Can you name, after all, another government in the world that brags about how little it spends on redistribution programs and how few people are dependent on government?Hong_Kong_Night_view

And how many jurisdictions adopt private Social Security systems to help make sure the burden of government spending doesn’t climb above 20 percent of GDP?

No wonder Hong Kong routinely is at the top of the rankings in both Economic Freedom of the World and the Index of Economic Freedom.

Here is some additional evidence of Hong Kong’s sensible approach. Below is a slide from a presentation by Hong Kong government officials, quoting the current Financial Secretary and all his predecessors, covering both the period of Chinese sovereignty and British sovereignty. As you can see, the one constant theme is free markets and small government.
