  1. 450 Highly Dangerous Islamists Walking Free In Germany With Not Enough Security Forces To Monitor Them

Hundreds of Islamists considered capable of committing “significant offences” are walking free in Germany without surveillance because of a lack of resources, making observation impossible.

The radical Islamist “scene” in Germany, which has been described as “rapidly growing” now encompasses some 447 individuals considered highly dangerous, in addition to 1,100 other potential terrorists, over 7,000 radical Salafist Muslims, and hundreds of other individuals who have returned from Syria with combat experience. The number of so called highly dangerous men is up from just 120 a couple of years ago, has nearly doubled in the past twelve months, and is highly concentrated in certain parts of Germany, reports Die Welt.

While there are just four known radical Islamists who pose a serious danger living in the German federal state of Thuringa, and none at all thought to be in Saxony-Anhalt, there are around 160 in North Rhine-Westphalia. The Islamist-heavy state reached global attention earlier this year after the revelation that hundreds were raped, robbed, and attacked in the state’s largest city, Cologne, by migrants on New Year’s Eve.

The 447 targets defined as “Islamist instigators” are monitored by the federal security agencies, with their locations “determined on a regular basis”, but almost none are regularly or permanently observed. The manpower required to observe would-be terrorists 24 hours a day is staggering, with 20 to 30 specially trained officers needed per target for full surveillance, leaving the police in a situation where “realistically… only a handful of people can be shadowed around the clock”.

    • I would say this is a very konservative “estimation” of the number – and the most dangerous People Smuggler/Jihad Facilitator is not even mentioned: her name is Angela Merkel.

I read of 130,000 “refugees” the so-called German Authoooorities have lost track of.

      • That was 130,000 this year, there were more last year. Working from memory the total number is 200,000 or more.

  2. European Union Declares Balkan Route Closed To Illegal Migrants, But Considers Opening Borders To Millions

Ahead of the major migrant crisis talks to be held in Brussels on Monday, the European Union (EU) has announced it is to close off the Balkan route completely and begin the return of economic migrants, but this progress may come at the price of opening the continent’s borders to Turkey.

The flow of migrants from Greece northward through the Balkan and Visegrad nations into the heart of Europe — Germany — is enjoying a temporary hiatus, as borders have been closed and the migrants become stuck in bottleneck Greece. Although the border closures have been repeatedly criticised by leading European figures, the EU has taken this opportunity to mark up the change as a victory, declaring “irregular flows of migrants along the Western Balkans route are coming to an end, this route is now closed” in documents seen by the Kronen Zeitung.
    …………………………………….
Furthermore, the EU is said to be accelerating plans to open the Schengen borderless zone — already seriously imperilled by the migrant crisis — to Turkey, as a sweetener. To spare the continent the ravages and political embarrassment of hundreds of thousands of immigrants arriving illegally, Brussels may yet give open-border access to 75 million Turks.

Turkey has already attempted to blackmail Europe into giving more concessions — apparently threatening to bus migrants to Bulgaria in November — and many are concerned about Europe becoming so involved in the increasingly autocratic regime. Senior German Green politician Claudia Roth has warned today in an interview with Die Welt that Europe has “entered a fatal dependence on Erdogan”, and the fate of Europe “is now in the hands of this autocrat”.

  3. David Cameron orders Navy to help TURN BACK migrants in desperate bid to tackle crisis (express, Mar 7, 2016)

“BRITAIN will provide “vital military assets” to help a Nato mission tackling the migrant crisis in the Aegean Sea, David Cameron has said.

The Prime Minister announced the Royal Navy was deploying amphibious landing ship RFA Mounts Bay as part of the Nato deployment.

The ship, which carries a Wildcat helicopter, is expected to start operations in the coming days, spotting smugglers taking migrants to Greece.

They will then pass the information to Turkish coastguards so they can intercept the boats, Mr Cameron added.

Two Border Force cutters will also join the operation, along with a third boat – the chartered civilian vessel VOS Grace – which is already in the Aegean.

RFA Mounts Bay will join naval vessels from Germany, Canada, Turkey and Greece as part of Nato’s first intervention in the migrant crisis….”

  4. Consultant is suspended by hospital after confronting surgeon who planned to operate in her hijab despite it being against safety regulations (dailymail, Mar 7, 2016)
    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3479740/Consultant-suspended-hospital-confronting-surgeon-planned-operate-hijab-despite-against-safety-regulations.html

“A hospital has suspended a consultant after he claimed that a Muslim surgeon walked out of an operation because she was asked to remove her religious headscarf.

Dr Vladislav Rogozov, 46, claimed in an online blog that he confronted her before the surgery when he realised she planned to wear the Islamic hijab which was against safety regulations.

But the unnamed surgeon refused, walking out of the operation and forcing staff at Sheffield’s Royal Hallamshire Hospital to find a replacement.

She later accused Czech-born Dr Rogozov, who has worked in Britain for ten years, of racial discrimination.

After a hospital investigation supported the consultant in his enforcement of the dress code, the Muslim surgeon left the hospital.

Religious headscarfs are ‘excluded in areas such as theatre, where they could present a health and cross-infection hazard’, according to the strict dress code.
At the time, the incident was not made public.

But Dr Rogozov, a consultant anaesthetist, was suspended last month for revealing details of the incident, which happened in 2013, as well as other surgeons’ more recent behaviour in an interview with an Internet blog.

He said: ‘I came into the operating room, where I met the surgeon, a woman shrouded in a Muslim headscarf. I immediately stopped the operation of the hall and asked her to put down her scarf and replace it with the prescribed headgear.

‘After a long discussion held with respect, decency and factual arguments, the surgeon refused and left the operating room. We managed to subsequently find another surgeon who performed the operation.

Writing in a blog post on a Czech website, he added: ‘If the medics in a developed country are afraid to draw attention to threats to patient safety because of accusations of racism, then it is an example of the absurdity of multiculturalism.’

A source last night told The Sun: ‘Dr Rogozov won’t tolerate anything that puts patients at risk. It has nothing to do with the medics being Muslims. It’s his fear they let their beliefs come before the patients.’

An inquiry is now ongoing after Dr Rogozov’s comments were printed on the Czech website and in a Slovakian newspaper.

The NHS is also investigating the allegations.

Sheffield Teaching Hospitals’ spokesman Dr David Throssell said: ‘The member of staff has not been excluded from work for raising patient safety issues as we take these very seriously.

‘However since the publication of articles, attributed to the member of staff, we have received concerns about the tone he has used.

‘On this basis the content and nature of the views published are currently being investigated.’…”

    • Note how the wording implies that the election was crooked, it doesn’t say that but the wording draws people to that conclusion.

    • This I will believe, the police have limited resources and when you have a massive amount of crime they have to shift from one type of crime to another. This will eventually lead to the total breakdown of law and order with everyone on their own. This is when the ordinary people will routinely arm themselves no matter what the law says.

    • ISIS is planning major attacks on all western nations, they have to if they want to maintain their standing. Russia is kicking their butts and they have to regain the respect of the other jihadists, this requires that they achieve a major victory.

  6. Australian police respond to shooting, report of hostages at Sydney factory

SYDNEY (Reuters) – Three people have been shot and hostages may have been taken at a factory on the outskirts of Sydney, Australian police said on Monday, although it was not immediately clear what had sparked the incident.

A spokeswoman for the New South Wales state police said authorities believed three people had been shot.

Australian media reported that one person was killed and two were wounded and taken to hospital, although police could not immediately verify those reports.

“Negotiators and a tactical response team are at the scene and trying to gain access to the building,” the police spokeswoman said.

In December 2014, a lone gunman and self-styled sheikh who claimed allegiance to the Islamic State militant group took 17 hostages at a cafe in central Sydney.

The gunman and two hostages were killed in the final minutes of the 16-hour siege.

  8. France: Refugees arrive at new Doctors Without Borders camp near Calais

At least three buses with hundreds of refugees onboard arrived at the newly opened first ‘UN humanitarian-standard’ refugee camp in France, in the commune of Grande Synthe in northern France on Monday. The new camp is ready to provide shelter for thousands of refugees from the nearby Grande-Synthe settlement as well as from the Calais ‘Jungle’ camp which is still being demolished.

The camp of wooden structures that was constructed by Doctors Without Borders, is equipped with drinking water, kitchens, showers and sanitation in accordance with UN humanitarian standards and can accommodate up to 1,500 people.

    • France: Calais residents protest in Paris over refugees’ impact on economy

Hundreds of Calais residents marched through Paris on Monday, to protest against the deteriorating economic situation in their region, which they claim has been caused by the refugee crisis.

SOT, Member of the Calais’ delgation (French): “To know what is written in the letter, there is a copy a little further. I suggest that you go to have look. We will hold a briefing as soon we get out of the Elysee, thank you. (Reporter asks: “Do you feel good?”) “We’ll see. We are pragmatic. Now go!”

SOT, Protester (French): “The big feeling we had is no longer a feeling, it is a reality. When allowed to install this jungle anywhere, anyhow, we must not forget that at first they were inside our cities, in squats, in the streets… We had to organize it and it was Madam Mayor of Calais who decided to put them on the outside. But that is not enough. It is necessary the state support to manage the invasion of immigrants.”

SOT, Antoine Ravisse, President of the association “Grand rassemblement du Calais” (French): “We found a rather favourable listening. Obviously this is only a beginning. We will meet again with the office of President of the Republic and ministries regularly and quickly, probably within 2 or 3 weeks, and we will continue until we get measures in favor of Calais’ businesses and shops, which are suffering today.”

  9. Austria: Right-wing MPs hand out free pepper spray in Vienna

Two MPs from the right-wing Team Stronach party distributed free pepper spray in front of parliament in Vienna, Monday.

Robert Lugar and Martina Schenk gave out around 200 pepper sprays in a matter of minutes as women, most of whom were middle-aged, queued up to get their hands on one.

Lugar critisied the Austrian police and government, claiming that people are feeling less and less safe . He went on to blame this on refugees, saying that, “we need to send back all immigrants from Austria, and there are 300,000 of them here”, adding that there is a need for more controls.

SOT, Robert Lugar, Member of Austrian Parliament (German): “The safety feeling in Austria is getting much and much worse. We must to do something. The police fails here, the Austrian government has failed, and the people in Austria – you have seen it today – are feeling more and more insecure. And a pepper spray is increasing your safety feeling, because if you are having an emergency, [the pepper spray] is a possibility to defend yourself.”

SOT, Robert Lugar, Member of Austrian Parliament (German): “First we need to send back all immigrants from Austria, and there are 300,000 of them here in Austria. Next we should not let it more of them, without controls, without knowing, what their plans are. And of course we need more police on the street, which are taking care for safety. And we – the taxpayers – are expecting that. And we have the right to expect that.”

    • Turkey demanded more money to help out the European Union to deal with the refugee crisis as EU leaders appealed to Ankara to take back thousands of migrants and prevent others from setting off for Europe

BRUSSELS (AP) — Turkey on Monday demanded an additional 3 billion euros ($3.3 billion) from the European Union to help deal with the refugee crisis as EU leaders appealed to Ankara to take back thousands of migrants and prevent others from setting off for Europe.

Turkey — a temporary home to an estimated 2.75 million refugees, many from the conflict in Syria — is an indispensable EU partner in trying to dissuade people fleeing conflict or poverty from taking to makeshift boats and making the short but often-dangerous trip across the Aegean Sea.

“To avoid that refugees arrive in Greece we have to cooperate with Turkey,” French President Francois Hollande said as he arrived for the EU-Turkey summit in Brussels.

In a draft statement prepared for the talks, seen by The Associated Press, the leaders said they will pursue “comprehensive, large scale and fast track returns to Turkey of all irregular migrants not in need of international protection.”

But Turkish leaders upped the ante on Monday, demanding the additional funds by 2018, on top of 3 billion euros the EU had already pledged to help Syrian refugees in the country, European Parliament President Martin Schulz said. Turkey also made requests to ease visa rules by June instead of the end of the year.

Turkey also wants to be able to send Syrian refugees to the 28-nation EU as they take people back who have made the crossing into Greece. The EU is desperate to halt the flow of migrants crossing the Aegean Sea. NATO ships are also set to help patrol the sea between Greece and Turkey, easing the load on Turkey’s military-run coast guard.

Turkey says this summit is as much about its thwarted EU membership ambitions as Europe’s inability to manage the refugee emergency. The membership talks have dragged on for a decade and Ankara is looking for improved negotiating conditions.

“Turkey is ready to work with the EU, and Turkey is ready to be a member of the EU as well,” Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters, expressing hope that the talks “will be a success story and a turning point in our relations.”

A planned news conference with Davutoglu was canceled after the Turks made new demands. They are expected to be discussed over a dinner, which was added to the summit program.

In Ankara, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan accused the EU of failing to deliver on the refugee fund and criticized the Europeans for refusing to take in more refugees.

“We are not sending them. They are going (to Greece) by sea and many of them are dying. We have rescued close to 100,000 from the sea. Others are puncturing their boats and causing their deaths,” Erdogan said, in an address to women trade-unionists.

North of Greece, Macedonia has effectively sealed off the main route into the Balkans, allowing just a trickle of people through. The move — backed by Austria, Croatia, Serbia, Slovenia and Hungary — has ratcheted up pressure from the other side as Greek authorities don’t have enough shelter for those who are stranded.

Hundreds of thousands of people have used the route in recent months to try to reach preferred destinations like Germany or the countries of Scandinavia.

An estimated 13,000-14,000 people waited at Greece’s border with Macedonia on Monday hoping desperately to be allowed to cross.

“Whatever it takes. We will go. We have nothing to go back to. Our homes are destroyed,” said Lasgeen Hassan, who, with the rest of his Kurdish Syrian family, wants to reunite with relatives in Germany.

Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte, whose country holds the EU’s rotating presidency, conceded that Turkey will need extra help if more migrants are sent back.

“We will need to bring relief to Turkey, and that means you have to be willing to take people in from Turkey” who are the most likely to qualify for asylum, he said.

Human rights group Amnesty International hit out at the leaders for using Turkey as a buffer to stop migrants, calling the move “a dangerous and deliberate ploy to shirk their responsibilities to people fleeing war and persecution.”

“Europe has an absolute duty to protect refugees and must make the bold decision to fast-track significant, unconditional resettlement as a matter of urgency,” said the group’s deputy director for Europe and Central Asia, Gauri van Gulik.

Ankara did little to allay concern about its rights record before the summit, when police on Friday stormed the headquarters of the Zaman opposition newspaper to enforce a court decision to place it and its sister outlets under the management of trustees. The step sparked two days of protests which police dispersed using tear gas and water cannons.

“Cooperation with Turkey does not mean that we have to accept anything,” Hollande said. “The press must be free everywhere, including in Turkey.”

Inside EU headquarters, German Chancellor Angela Merkel lobbied her partners to ensure that no mention was made of officially closing the Balkan migrant route in the final summit statement. But she faced strong opposition from Austria and several Eastern European nations.

Austrian Chancellor Werner Feymann said: “I’m all for having clearer language, for us all to say: ‘We will close all routes, the Balkan route as well.’ The traffickers should be given no chance.”

But Merkel insisted that the answer lies not in “closing something, but about finding a sustainable solution together with Turkey.”

In Athens, police patrolled a central city square to prevent migrants setting up camp after the site was cleared over the weekend.

Hundreds of people, mostly from Afghanistan, had been sleeping rough at Victoria Square after Austria and Balkans countries further north imposed border restrictions and closures.

About 34,000 migrants are currently stranded in Greece. According to the United Nations refugee agency, 2,480 people arrived on Sunday.

    • EUCO summit with Turkey on refugee crisis

      […]

A draft proposal seen at the summit says Turkey would take back all irregular migrants (both economic migrants and legitimate asylum seekers) from Greek islands, including Syrians. The EU would then admit one Syrian refugee directly from Turkey for every Syrian readmitted to Turkey from the Greek islands.

In exchange, the EU would offer a further €3 billion until the end of 2018 to help Turkey shelter Syrians, doubling the amount of an earlier offer, and provide other benefits to Ankara.

The EU lawyers who are likely present in large numbers at the summit should, however, explain if such arrangements are compatible with international law. The UN Convention on refugees from 1951 prohibits contracting parties (all EU member states are contracting parties) from expelling or returning refugees, except on grounds of public order.

Moreover, the Convention doesn’t allow for discrimination based on refugees’ country of origin, meaning that they cannot accept Syrians and reject other nationalities. (See articles 3, 32, 33 of the Convention.)

      ========================================
The trade-off, according to diplomatic sources Turkey commits to: – the readmission of all economic migrants arriving to Greek islands from its soil

      – to cooperate with the EU and UNHCR to apply the formula of “one Syrian refugees readmitted for one Syrian refugee redeployed to member states” and

      – to set up safe areas in Syria

In return, the EU will: – help to evacuate the islands and to readmit those who meet the criteria – cover the costs of the readmission process – allow a visa-free regime for Turkish nationals by the end of June (the latest) – cooperate in setting up safe humanitarian areas in Syria – prepare for opening new chapters in the accession talks – facilitate the release of funds from the Refugee Facility for Syrians and will decide a new financial assistance of €3 billion (until 2018) – monitoring the implementation of the agreement on a daily basis[…]

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The U.S. military carried out a drone strike over the weekend targeting a training camp run by Somali Islamist group al Shabaab about 120 miles north of capital Mogadishu over the weekend, killing more than 150 fighters, the Pentagon said on Monday.

“It was a successful strike,” said Pentagon spokesman Captain Jeff Davis, adding U.S. intelligence indicated the group was preparing for a “large scale attack” and posed a threat to U.S. and African Union forces in Somalia.

The al Qaeda-linked al Shabaab was pushed out of Mogadishu by African Union peacekeeping forces in 2011 but has remained a potent antagonist in Somalia, launching frequent attacks in its bid to overthrow the Western-backed government.

“A British judge has adjourned a hearing on rival claims to head Libya’s $67 billion sovereign wealth fund, saying Monday that he expects Libya to clarify the situation soon.

Hassan Bouhadi and Abdulmagid Breish both claim to be chairman of the Libyan Investment Authority.

Libya has splintered since Moammar Gadhafi was deposed in 2011, with two rival governments vying for control and Islamic State group-linked militants gaining in strength amid the chaos.

Tripoli-based Breish claims to be the authority’s legitimate head, but Bouhadi says he was appointed by the internationally recognized government based in eastern Libya.

Judge William Blair — brother of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair — said Monday he was adjourning the case after being informed by Britain’s Foreign Office that “there may be clarification of the leadership of the LIA” from Libya’s internationally recognized parliament “within the coming weeks.”

Blair has been asked to decide which man is the legitimate head of the authority so that it can proceed with a lawsuit against Goldman Sachs and Societe Generale over alleged mismanagement of funds. Both banks deny the claim.”

“The national capital was on high alert and security was beefed up at vital installations, important buildings and crowded places after Delhi Police received inputs about a potential terror strike in the city by 10 suspected LeT and JeM militants who are learnt to have entered India through Gujarat, The Indian Express reports.

Intelligence provided by Pakistan’s National Security Advisor of a possible 26/11-style fidayeen assault on religious sites and processions in Gujarat during Maha Shivratri celebrations on Monday and Tuesday led authorities to order a massive mobilisation of state police personnel and National Security Guard (NSG) units, a top government official familiar with the matter has told The Indian Express.

The unprecedented intelligence warning did not contain specific details on the jihadist group involved, or information that could lead police to perpetrators, the source said. However, he said “there was enough credible sourcing for the matter to be taken very seriously”.

Lieutenant-General Naseer Janjua conveyed the warning to his Indian counterpart, Ajit Doval, on Saturday, following which NSG special forces were deployed to Gujarat to back up state police.

India, a diplomat said, believes the intelligence was provided “to pre-empt a potential crisis in bilateral relations, even war”. “Lots of pressure has been mounted by India and the United States, and perhaps it is paying off,” said the source.
