In 2011 in the area of Gardone Val Trompia (Brescia) two Pakistanis were killed because they had violated Islamic law: they had worn swimsuits on the beach. Condemning them was the imam of Zingonia (Bergamo) Muhammad Zulkifal, a member of a cell of Al Qaeda with its operational base in Olbia. Zulkifal has always claimed “the role of moral guardian of the community and the right to inflict exemplary punishment to enforce divine law.”
The double murder was accidentally discovered by investigators, thanks to an interception in 2012. Two foreigners, never identified, had asked a Lodi photographer to extract images from a mobile phone. Once at work, the man had found the photos sought by the two, depicting a young Pakistani woman with her face swollen, her arms amputated at the elbows and legs to the knees. The limbs were placed close to the body, “according to the technique used by the Taliban” the investigators had highlighted.
Recently I talked with a gay paki who was trying to convince me that there is nothing wrong with being gay and muslim. That his family is fully aware of it and its just fine, and that in pakistan he went to gay parties… yeah right, I don’t believe that for a second. Being gay and muslim is like being a jew and a nazi at the same time.
As I understand it, parts of Pakistan are more secular than parts of the UK. Lots of Pakistanis who go from say, Karachi to Luton or Tower Hamlets are horrified.
Its quite possible that for the moment there is a gay ‘cultural-muslim’ sub culture in Pakistan. But you are correct that there cannot be a gay person who is also an observant muslim. They are mutually exclusive unless its a case of an adult male raping a pre pubescent boy. Then I think its just a foretaste of Mohamed’s sky brothel for the dead jihadis.

Do you ever read Pakistani English-language papers? Pakistani journalists treat composing editorials as an exercise in creative writing. They’re kind of like Naomi Wolf. They just dream something up that suits their fancy and then write a bunch of supporting stuff around it, thus lowering the integrity-rating to somewhere around zero. It’s actually quite amusing. It’s always, “The CIA and the Russians are working with the Israelis to help the Indians give the bomb to the Pope”…or some such nonsense…
But, you know what? I shouldn’t be so smug. Our journalists are closing the gap with these chumps at an alarming rate. Soon every paper in the world will be 100% bullsh$t, unless, of course, that ship has already left the harbor…
