Vienna: Officers are Offering Resistance

From this Austrian news site:

Bombshell in the debate over security! High ranking Officers are warning: “The security of our country and our citizenry is severely endangered”

Many people have not reckoned with it before, but now they are speaking up. The officers of the Austrian armed forces are no longer silent! With a newly established platform “Fortified Austria” (Wehrhaftes Österreich), they point to the threats and dangers of a completely misguided security policy. Bottom line: The security of Austria is “severely endangered”, the body politic is looking the other way, and the armed forces are being politically instrumentalized, damned to inactivity, and economized out of existence. In a commercial published on January 1, 2016 the officers are speaking plain text. Alongside Colonel Siegfried Abel and the chief of the Officer corps, Colonel Erich Cibulka, General Günther Greindl is speaking as well. The former was crucial in the development of the modern armed forces, he was a representative of the Austrian armed forces in international institutions, he is the founder and the president of the “Federation of Austrian Peacekeepers” and he holds the Order of Merit for services rendered to the Republic of Austria. The Ministry of Defense and the federal government will necessarily feel put under pressure through the activities of these officers.

In the video, the officers are establish in detail the reasons for their actions. “As soldiers of the Austrian armed forces we are serving our country. We have performed this service for decades, with pride and with conviction.” But the threats are increasing. The East-West conflict between Russia and the NATO, terrorism in Europe through the Islamic State, and an uncontrolled mass migration of millions of people into Europe characterize the situation. Large parts of the political establishment are not acknowledging these threats due to ignorance and insider politics. Not only the armed forces are being destroyed, but the will of the people to defend the country is also being systematically ridiculed and destroyed. Therefore the soldiers have to speak up now and act. Due to a “degraded ability to defend”, the “security of our country and the citizenry is severely threatened.”

Besides a revaluation of the armed forces and the ability to defend the country, they also demand effective measures to enhance border security. The soldiers are quiet no longer. And they are united: “We want an Austria that is sovereign and that is capable of acting. We want a safe future for our children and for our grandchildren.”

  1. This is a plea by retired military men for the government of Austria to increase / not decrease defense spending. I hardly think this is a call to war against the Austrian government for some kind of conspiracy. I also don’t think this is particularly breaking news.

    • This is the first move in a campaign to try and force the Austrian government into reversing its policies that are placing the nation at risk. When the Austrian government does not respond the political campaign will intensify.

It is major news when retired military officers in any nation take to the political arena because of dereliction of duty by the politicians.

      • Good, not great. Their terms are too vague. Of course they’d surely lose their pensions and/or go to jail if they spelled out “Islam” and “Jihad”.

Lee Smith describes his blatant shadows while in the Austrian capital to cover the P5+1-Iran nuclear deal talks.

As the world capital for organizations like OPEC and the IAEA, Vienna is loaded with spies. In particular, it serves as the center of Iranian intelligence operations in Europe.

Operatives of the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence and the IRGC are watching “everyone and everything….[T]he people they’re watching most closely are other Iranians, including the families of Iranian-Americans held hostage.”

He quotes a source there, “‘The Iranians are clearly at home because they turned Vienna into a police state…. They track and document the movements and interactions of journalists, analysts and politicians alike.”

He notes, “It’s hardly surprising that Vienna is still a playground for foreign intelligence services. During the Cold War, Austria’s declared neutrality made the capital an inviting place for the American intelligence community and U.S. allies to contest Soviet-bloc services.”

        Why is this tolerated?
“The Austrians don’t make a very big deal about it because, for among other reasons, they want to do business with the Islamic Republic—indeed, the Austrians are so eager to see Iran open again that Austrian industries have occasionally skirted sanctions.

[…]There’s also some history—some of it unpleasant—between the Austrian government and the clerical regime in Tehran. The Austrian foreign minister was the first western foreign minister to visit Iran after the Islamic revolution. In 1991 then-President and former Nazi officer Kurt Waldheim, was the first Western leader to visit Tehran, where he was praised by then-President Ali Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani for his ‘anti-Americanism’ and ‘anti-Zionism.’ And then there was the 1989 assassination of a Kurdish opposition leader and his two colleagues in Vienna, an operation typically attributed to Iranian intelligence.”

  2. They are also acknowledging the threats from all fronts resulting from massive invasion of foreigners.

A few days ago, word was spread in mid-East : now is the time to get ready to leave in a few weeks for the Mediterranean. They are speaking of an ‘avalanche’ of invaders that will conquer Europe.

Austrians are kept in the dark, like most Europeans. When high level Army officers feel the need to speak out on strengthening the defensive will of the citizenry, and the message is intended for the citizenry, I consider this a call to RESISTANCE.

    • Thats how most people see it indeed. I think ‘Passerby’ isn’t reading the tea leaves very well.
