  2. Mullah accused of shooting, killing Afghan-American woman in Kabul (CNN, Dec 21, 2015)
    http://edition.cnn.com/2015/12/21/world/afghan-american-killed-kabul/index.html

“An Afghan-American woman was leaving the gym of her apartment complex in Kabul, Afghanistan, when a mullah allegedly shot her to death, according to a Kabul police official.

Fraidoon Obaidi, a Kabul district police chief, said Lisa Akbari was attacked as she left the complex gym at 8 p.m. Sunday.

Obaidi said the mullah was injured but declined to explain how or why. He’s been arrested, Obaidi said, but he didn’t provide information about any charges the mullah faces. The chief did not provide the man’s name but said he is being interrogated.

Obaidi told CNN that investigators have seized documents from the mullah’s residence that show he allegedly has links to terrorist groups, but the chief did not specify which groups….”

  3. Taliban forces take control of Sangin in Afghanistan’s Helmand province (CNN, Dec 22, 2015)
    http://edition.cnn.com/2015/12/21/middleeast/afghanistan-taliban-control-helmand/index.html

“After several days of fierce fighting, Taliban forces have taken almost full control of Sangin, a key district in Afghanistan’s southern Helmand province, a police official said.

The Taliban took over the entire district except for the police chief’s compound and another compound where a battalion of Afghan National Army is based in, said Mohammad Dawood, the Sangin police chief.

December marks one year since NATO handed over security operations to the Afghans. Before then, British and American forces struggled for years to hold on to Sangin.

It is strategically important because it links Lashkar Gah, the Helmand capital, to districts in the north. If the Taliban gain control of Sangin, they will control supply routes to the districts.

Dawood said the fighting in the district had been going on for more than a month, but was in its worst stage in the past three days.

He added that police have sustained heavy casualties and are almost out of ammunition…”

    • Afghanistan Taliban: Police resist siege of HQ in Helmand’s Sangin (BBC, Dec 22, 2015)

“Afghan forces are struggling to hold the police HQ in the town of Sangin in Helmand province, amid a siege by Taliban fighters, officials say.

But there are conflicting reports as to who controls the whole district.

The Helmand governor and police dismissed Taliban reports that it now controlled it as “totally false”.

Sangin district has fallen to Taliban control several times and the fighting has caused significant casualties among Afghan and international forces.

In the east, a Taliban attack near Bagram on Monday killed six US soldiers. It was one of the deadliest attacks on foreign forces in Afghanistan this year.

“Islamist militants sprayed a bus with bullets on Monday, but a passenger said he and fellow Muslims defied demands from the attackers to help identify Christians traveling with them.

Two people were killed in the attack which took place in Mandera, in northeast Kenya.

Abdi Mohamud Abdi, a Muslim who was among the passengers, told Reuters that more than 10 militants with Somalia-based al Shabab boarded the bus and ordered the Muslim passengers to split away from the Christians, but they refused.

“We even gave some non-Muslims our religious attire to wear in the bus so that they would not be identified easily,” Abdi said. “We stuck together tightly.”

He added: “The militants threatened to shoot us but we still refused and protected our brothers and sisters. Finally they gave up and left but warned that they would be back.”…”

  5. Iraqi forces ‘advance into Islamic State-held Ramadi’ (BBC, Dec 22, 2015)

“Iraqi government forces have advanced into the centre of the city of Ramadi, which is controlled by jihadist group Islamic State (IS), officials say.

A spokesman for the Counter-Terrorism Service, Sabah al-Numani, said troops and militiamen, supported by the air force, were clearing residential areas.

They were heading towards the main government complex, he added.

Ramadi, about 90km (55 miles) west of Baghdad, fell to IS in May in an embarrassing defeat for the Iraqi army.

Last month, government forces completed their encirclement of the city, cutting off militants inside the centre from their strongholds elsewhere in Anbar province.

  6. Migrant crisis: ‘One million enter Europe in 2015’ (BBC, Dec 22, 2015)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35158769

“The number of migrants and refugees crossing into Europe by land and sea this year has passed one million, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) says.

The number represents a fourfold rise on the total last year.

The vast majority crossed by sea, with more than 800,000 travelling from Turkey to Greece. Most are refugees from Syria, Iraq and Afghanistan.

The IOM says 3,695 migrants have drowned this year or remain missing….”

      • That is probably right.

The million figure is troubling because that increases the number of fighters in Europe, it increases the number enough you can understand why so many of the “refugees” are being so arrogant.

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/france-tightening-church-security-christmas-35902276

“France’s interior minister says the government will tighten security for churches around Christmas, amid continued concerns about potential extremist violence after deadly attacks last month.

Bernard Cazeneuve announced Tuesday that churches will keep only one door open, instead of multiple doors, “to have better filtering at the entrance.”

At a meeting with Christian, Jewish and Muslim religious leaders, Cazeneuve said: “Everything is being done to guarantee security.”

He also says that anti-Muslim and anti-Semitic violence has receded since France imposed a state of emergency in the wake of the Nov. 13 attacks around Paris by Islamic extremists, which killed 130 people. The attacks put security forces on edge, and raised concerns both about repeat attacks and an anti-Muslim backlash.”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/boko-haram-violence-forces-million-children-school-35902172

“The United Nations children’s agency says attacks by Islamic extremist group Boko Haram in northeastern Nigeria and neighboring countries have forced more than 1 million children out of school heightening the risk they will be abused, abducted or recruited by armed groups.

The agency said Tuesday the conflict has forced 2,000 schools to close, some for more than a year, in Nigeria, Cameroon, Chad and Niger. Some have been looted or set on fire by the militant group whose name means “Western education is sinful.”

Insecurity also prevents teachers from going back to classes. And in schools that have reopened, classrooms are overcrowded.

Boko Haram’s insurgency has killed about 20,000 people and displaced millions, according to Amnesty International.”

    http://tribune.com.pk/story/1014329/non-bailable-arrest-warrants-issued-for-altaf-19-other-mqm-leaders/

“n Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Tuesday issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain and 20 other senior party leaders for delivering and facilitating anti-Pakistan speeches.

The leaders were accused of delivering and facilitating anti-Pakistan speeches as well as inciting violence. The MQM leaders had attended a public gathering and listened to Altaf Hussain’s outburst against security agencies on July 12 this year.

Farooq Sattar, Wasim Akhtar, MQM parliamentary leader in Sindh Assembly Khawaja Izharul Hasan, Khushbakht Shujaat, Rasheed Godil and Qamar Mansoor are among other senior party leaders against who warrants have been issued.

The ATC also directed that the accused be arrested and produced before the court on January 2.

Earlier in September, the ATC had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for MQM chief Altaf Hussain in the criminal intimidation case registered on the complaint of Colonel Tahir Mehmood of Sindh Rangers. In the FIR, Col Mehmood — who led the paramilitary force in the March 11 predawn raid at Nine Zero, the MQM headquarters in Karachi – maintained that Altaf in a television talk show threatened the officers who were part of the raiding team…..”

    http://www.khaama.com/afghanistan-faces-major-economic-security-and-political-challenges-in-2016-un-envoy-1844

“The UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan Nicholas Haysom has said Afghanistan is facing major economic, security and political challenges in 2016 despite progress made in the fields of forming the civil and electoral sector.

In his speech during a session of the UN Security Council on Afghanistan, Haysom said the security situation has deteriorated with intensified insurgency activities and the economy remains a matter of concern as the Afghan National Unity Government is struggling to project national unity.

He said “In 2016, it is vital that the National Unity Government demonstrates increasingly its effectiveness, not only to the Afghan people but also donors, on whom it is largely dependent for financial, material and technical assistance.”

According to Haysom the financial resources currently available to the country will diminish sooner or later, insisting that “This situation cannot continue indefinitely.”

He also stressed that Afghanistan needs to find a political route to peace as many Afghans are anxious about the future, with some feeling they have no choice other than to leave the country in search of security and economic opportunity elsewhere…”

    http://www.khaama.com/india-has-delivered-first-mi-25-gunship-to-afghanistan-1843

“The Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to finalize arrangements for the delivery of Mi-25 gunship helicopters to Afghanistan during his visit to Kabul for the inauguration of the new Afghan parliament building, it has been reported.

According to local media reports, India has already delivered the first of the four helicopters to Afghanistan with three others to be delivered in the near future.

The reports further added that the first gunship helicopter arrived in Afghanistan earlier this month while the three others on the way.

This comes reports emerged in mid November that the gunship helicopters will kick off operations with the Afghan Air Force during mid January.

The delivery of the Russian-made gunships by India comes amid crucial need of close air support to the Afghan national security forces who are fighting the Taliban militants on their own during the past one year, since the NATO-led coalition forces concluded their military operation in December last year.

Modi is expected to arrive in capital Kabul for the official inauguration of the newly-built Afghan parliament on coming Friday, although the report has not been independently confirmed by the officials…”

  12. ISIS fundraising in Pakistan’s Karachi: Police looking for network of female fundraisers (khaama, Dec 22, 2015)
    http://www.khaama.com/isis-fundraising-in-karachi-police-looking-for-network-of-female-fundraisers-4410

“Security agencies in Pakistan’s business hub Karachi are looking for a network of female fundraisers for the terrorist group of the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Police say the group collects money in the name of Islamic charity.

Head of the Counter Terrorism Department of Sindh province told AFP news on Monday that the hunt was launched after police arrested the suspected financier of a gun attack on a bus that left 44 people dead in May.

The attack on the bus was later claimed by ISIS which was carrying members of the Shia community.

Raja Umar Khattab said one of the suspects arrested last week, who goes by the name of Adil Masood Butt, confessed to police that his wife had established a religious organization in the city called ‘Al Zikra Academy’ which does not have an organizational structure or office.

“A group of 20 women, all from well-off families, distributed USBs (computer memory sticks) containing Islamic State videos, and also preached in support of terror organizations. They also arranged marriages among the group’s followers,” Khattab said.

“The wife and mother-in-law of the main suspect of the carnage, Saad Aziz, were also part of the network.”

Saad Aziz who was arrested by police in May has been blamed for carrying out the carnage and killing Sabeen Mahmud who was a human rights activist.”

  13. Afghan opium processed into heroin in Turkish labs for Europe (khaama, Dec 22, 2015)
    http://www.khaama.com/afghan-opium-processed-into-heroin-in-turkish-labs-for-europe-4414

“The director of Russia’s Federal Narcotics Control Service said on Tuesday that Turkish laboratories are processing Afghan opium into heroin for deliveries to Europe.

According to Russia’s Sputnik news, Viktor Ivanov said that Russian and Afghan drug police confiscated more than 600 kilograms (over 1,300 pounds) of opium in a joint operation in December.

“The cargo traveled along the route of Badakhshan-Doshi-Bamiyan-Herat, then further through Iran and into Turkey, where the opium was processed in well-equipped laboratories … into high quality heroin, and then was to be sent to Europe and Russia,” according to Sputnik, Ivanov said during an anti-narcotics committee meeting.

Last week, Ivanov said that large shipments of Afghan heroin were being transited through Turkey into the Balkan states and on into the European Union.

Ivanov says the drugs from Afghanistan generate profits estimated at $150 billion annually for the people involved in the operations with them.

His comments come as Afghanistan has been designated among 22 countries as “major drug transit and/or major illicit drug producing countries” for 2016.

President Barack Obama said in September that “Illegal poppy cultivation in Afghanistan is among the most difficult international drug-control problems.””

      • The Moslems are reopening the old labs and routes. Think the old movie the French Connection, the movie isn’t up on youtube but if memory serves the heroin was refined in Turkey and smuggled into France to be shipped to the US. The Shah broke the shipments through Iran and they shifted to moving it through the USSR but after Carter threw the Shah out the pipeline shifted back to Iran. I think the bribes were less using Iran as opposed to the USSR.

  14. Migrant crisis: Sweden operator cancels trains on bridge link (BBC, Dec 22, 2015)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-35159183

“Sweden’s state-owned train operator SJ is to stop services to and from Denmark because it cannot carry out identity checks demanded by the government to stem the influx of refugees.

Under a new Swedish law, transport companies will be fined if travellers to Sweden do not have valid photo ID.

SJ said it would not have time to check people travelling between Copenhagen and Malmo over the Oresund bridge.

Sweden has received about 150,000 asylum applications already this year.

The government has secured a temporary exemption from the European Union’s open-border Schengen agreement, in order to impose border controls.

About 18,000 people commute to work daily across the bridge, Radio Sweden reports.

SJ said all services between Denmark and Sweden would be suspended from 4 January when the new law comes into force.

“Our planning of the introduction of ID border checks in Copenhagen before the departure of SJ trains bound for Sweden has shown that we are currently unable to carry out ID checks in accordance with the requirements of the new law in the amount of time allowed,” the operator said on its website.

It added it had chosen to “cancel its departures until there is a working solution in place”.

Oresundstag, another train operator which runs a Sweden-Denmark commuter service, said it would remain in operation after 4 January but scale back rush-hour traffic to allow time for the checks, according to reports.

One million migrants have arrived in Europe by land or sea in 2015, the International Organisation for Migration says.

Along with Germany, Sweden is one of the main destinations of choice – with some 150,000 applying for asylum in 2015.

In contrast, Denmark expects to receive about 20,000 asylum seekers this year.

Last week a Danish government proposal to seize asylum seekers’ valuables to make them pay for their stay drew sharp criticism in international media.”

“It’s hard. We don’t know anyone!” said a woman from Aleppo, who was helping a fellow refugee from Homs pick out tea cups and bowls in a charity shop on the seafront in Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. The other woman, who wore a black headscarf, said she could not find Arabic coffee, roast pumpkin seeds or “Mate”, a caffeine-rich drink popular in Syria.

Under a government scheme, the refugees are given five years humanitarian protection status, free housing and social welfare, as well as permission to work from the day they arrive.

  16. China anti-terror law may restrict media reporting on attacks

    http://www.reuters.com/article/china-security-idUSKBN0U50MK20151222

China may further restrict the right of media to report on details of terror attacks, state media reported on Tuesday, under a tough new law that could be passed before the end of the month.

The draft anti-terrorism law has already attracted concern in Western capitals as it could require technology firms to install “backdoors” in products or to hand over sensitive information such as encryption keys to the government.

The law is currently having another reading at the latest session of the standing committee for China’s largely rubber-stamp parliament, the National People’s Congress, which ends on Sunday.

The official People’s Daily said the law’s new draft includes a provision that media and social media cannot report on details of terror activities that might lead to imitation, nor show scenes that are “cruel and inhuman”.

No details of hostages, how authorities have responded to terror incidents or personal details of those on the scene are allowed to be reported without approval by counter-terrorism authorities, the report added.

  17. Iraqi troops storm into center of Islamic State-held Ramadi

    http://www.oann.com/iraq-begins-attack-to-recapture-ramadi-center-from-islamic-state/

BAGHDAD (Reuters) – Iraq’s armed forces stormed the center of Ramadi on Tuesday, a spokesman for the counter-terrorism units said, in a drive to dislodge Islamic State militants from their remaining stronghold in a city they captured in May.

The operation to recapture Ramadi, a Sunni Muslim city on the river Euphrates some 100 km (60 miles) west of Baghdad, began in early November after a months-long effort to cut off supply lines to the city, whose fall to Islamic State was a major defeat for Iraq’s weak central government.

Progress has been slow because the government wants to rely entirely on its own troops and not use Shi’ite militias in order to avoid rights abuses such as occurred after the recapture of the city of Tikrit from the militants in April.

U.S. officials have also cautioned against the use of Iran-backed Shi’ite militias in retaking Ramadi from the hardline Sunni militants to avoid fanning sectarian tensions

  18. Catalan separatists trigger fresh headache for Spain’s government

    http://www.oann.com/catalan-separatists-reach-draft-deal-on-regional-government/

MADRID (Reuters) – Pro-independence parties in the Spanish region of Catalonia struck a deal on Tuesday to form a government, reviving a separatist drive just as Spain faces weeks of uncertainty at a national level following an inconclusive general election.

Parties favoring a split between Spain and Catalonia won a majority of seats in a September regional ballot, but divisions between the various movements had undermined their prospect of pushing forward with an independence drive.

After initial opposition, Catalan anti-capitalist party CUP said it could now back the head of the regional government, Artur Mas, allowing him to stay on as leader.

The deal, which also contemplates an economic plan and a so-called 18-month roadmap to independence, will however have to be rubber stamped by CUP members in an assembly on Sunday.

With Spain’s political parties facing weeks of negotiations to form a government, the Catalan issue is now set to come into play again.

  19. Iraq denies responsibility for abduction of Qatari hunters

    http://www.oann.com/iraq-denies-responsibility-for-abduction-of-qatari-hunters/

KUWAIT (Reuters) – Iraq’s foreign minister denied on Tuesday that his government had anything to do with the kidnapping of a group of Qatari hunters in the south of the country this month.

A large group of unidentified armed men abducted at least 26 Qataris from their desert hunting camp near the Saudi border last week. At least nine people who were part of the hunting group managed to escape and crossed into Kuwait.

“I deny categorically that this issue (of the kidnapping) has any relation to the Iraqi government,” Foreign Minister Ibrahim al-Jaafari told reporters at a news conference with his Kuwaiti counterpart in Kuwait.

The Gulf Cooperation Council, of which Qatar is a member, described the abduction as “an action that harms the bonds of brotherly relations between Arab brothers,” state media in another member, Saudi Arabia, reported on Tuesday.

  20. China calls on U.S.’ Kerry to respect China’s core interests

    http://www.oann.com/china-calls-on-u-s-kerry-to-respect-chinas-core-interests/

BEIJING (Reuters) – The United States needs to respect China’s core interests, including stopping weapons sales to Taiwan and ending military patrols close to islets controlled by China in the South China Sea, the country’s foreign minister told his U.S. counterpart.

In a telephone call with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said the world is becoming a more challenging place, according to a Chinese Foreign Ministry statement released on Monday.

“As the U.S. seeks cooperation with China, it ought to respect China’s core interests and important matters of concern,” the statement paraphrased Wang as saying.

Wang explained to Kerry China’s position on Taiwan and the South China Sea, asking the United States to end arms sales to the self-ruled island and stop “shows of force” with ship and aircraft patrols close to Chinese-controlled island in the disputed South China Sea, the statement added.

The U.S. angered China last week by approving a new round of weapons sales to Taiwan.

Defeated Nationalist forces fled to the island at the end of a civil war with the Communists in 1949 and Beijing has never renounced the use of force to bring it under its control.

  21. What’s that you say? Some Jersey City Muslims DID celebrate 9/11?

    http://libertyunyielding.com/2015/12/22/whats-you-say-some-jersey-city-muslims-did-celebrate-911/

On the same day that Politifact ruled Hillary Clinton’s Trump-ISIS video claim to be a lie, it awarded its Lie of the Year booby prize to another imaginary video. This video is the one Donald Trump alleges he viewed that showed Jersey City Muslims celebrating the 9/11 attacks that felled the World Trade Center. But a report released by NJ.com, the online arm of the Newark Star Ledger, suggests Politifact may have acted too hastily.

The author of the report, Mark Mueller, doesn’t purport to have found Trump’s elusive video. Instead he offers as evidence the accounts of a police officer who was on duty on 9/11 and residents on the outskirts of Jersey City’s Journal Square who say they witnessed small pockets of people celebrating before the groups dispersed or were broken up by authorities.

Here are a couple of Mueller’s bullet points:

Just days after a Muslim couple carried out a mass shooting in California, the phone lines at the American-Arab Anti-discrimination Committee in Dearborn started ringing.

Women in headscarves were calling for help, asking how to protect against discrimination in the workplace — and anywhere else they ventured.

One of them was Terry Ali, a 48-year-old medical receptionist who is suing Livonia Dermatology, claiming the clinic fired her two days after the deadly shooting because of her religious beliefs. Specifically, she wore a hijab to work.

Since the Dec. 2 attacks in San Bernardino, the Anti-discrimination Committee (or AAC) has received more than a dozen phone calls from Muslim Americans locally reporting a variety of workplace discrimination and harassment complaints. Of those calls, one has triggered a lawsuit, and two similar workplace suits are in the works, said AAC Executive Director Fatina Abdrabboh, who hopes the litigation sends a message to employers

[…] a growing mass of academic research has shown that conservatives have a particular revulsion to “disgusting” images.

[…]Several studies have shown that conservatives are far more likely to have strong reactions to these images or situations than moderates or liberals are

      • Yes and no, I would place the start back when Jimmy Carter let the Iranians seize a US Embassy and did nothing, that showed them that one political party in the US is weak and won’t fight. They are counting on making enough gains while the Dems are in power to prevent the Repubs from taking it all back. Where their math falls apart is when a leader like Trump comes in and the war of survival becomes a major high intensity war. We are going to see a lot of violence next year and the more the US is attacked the more support Trump will gain. The Dems and the LSM are vastly underestimating the depth of the anger and disgust among the ordinary people. That is what happens when you spend all of your time talking to people who believe like you do, you don’t understand when the divisions have grown to the level when a revolution will occur. If Trump wins the left wills start a civil war, if the left manages to steal another election the conservatives will have no choice but to revolt to regain our freedom.

Alan Crawford, along with his wife, Daphne Crawford, and their child were walking through Central Mall in Fort Smith, Arkansas, using his phone to record video in the mall when a number of bystanders reported them to police and mall security.

Mall security approached the couple and told them they weren’t allowed to record. Alan Crawford said that he didn’t see a sign prohibiting the activity, but a police report stated that recording inside the mall without prior approval from management is against the mall’s code of conduct policy, KFSM-TV reported.

  29. The United States and Islam: What Is Going On?

The irony is that no major power in recent history has gone out of its way as has the United States to help, respect, please and, yes, appease Islam. And, yet, no other nation has been a victim of vilification, demonization, and violence on the part of the Islamists as has the U.S.

The politically correct crowd has turned Islam into a new taboo. They brand any criticism of Islam as racist, ethnocentrist or simply vile, all crammed together in the new category of “Islamophobia.” Is it Islamophobia to question a religion whose Middle East leaders often preach “Death to America” and hatred for Western values?

More prevalent than Islamophobia is Islamophilia, as leftists treat Muslims as children whose feathers should not be ruffled. The Islamophilia crowd invites Americans and Europeans to sacrifice part of their own freedom in atonement of largely imaginary sins against Muslims in the colonial and imperialist era.

Many Muslims resent the kind of flattery that takes them for idiots at a time that Islam and Muslims badly need to be criticized. The world needs to wake up and ask: What is going on?

    • Prior to WWII the self proclaimed elite in the US was split between worshiping Germany, the USSR, China and Japan. Many of this group never really dropped their worship they just went underground until they could come up and start spreading guilt for what we did to win the war.

  31. USA: Rejecting Syrian refugees is best recruitment propaganda for ISIS – UNHCR

“Those that reject Syrian refugees, especially if they are Muslim, are the best allies of the propaganda and recruitment of extremist groups.” announced United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres, during a UN Security Council briefing in New York, Tuesday.

Guterres also stated that “despite the rhetoric we are hearing these days, refugees are the first victims of such terror, not its source. They cannot be blamed for a threat which they’re risking their lives to escape.”

  32. Afghanistan: Russian authorities seize 600 KG of OPIUM destined for Europe via Turkey

Russia’s Federal Drug Control Service (RFDC) released video footage on Tuesday, of the seizure of around 600 kg (1,323 lbs) of opium in a joint operation by Russian and Afghan forces carried out in the Afghan province of Baghlan in September.

According to the RFDC, the unprocessed opium was bound for Turkish heroin laboratories before being discovered in the back of a truck that had been travelling on the alleged Badakhshan-Bamyan-Doshi-Herat route from Afghanistan and through Iran to Turkey.

The Drug Control Service Director Viktor Ivanov said the operation had disrupted traffickers plans to eventually import the processed heroin to Europe and Russia.

  34. FRANCE –ISIS-inspired Frenchman who beheaded his boss is found dead in jail cell

A Frenchman who beheaded his boss in the name of the Islamic State was found dead Tuesday in his Paris jail cell, according to local media.

Yassin Salhi was held in isolation at the Fleury-Merogis prison after the barbaric beheading during the summer. The 35-year-old delivery driver was found hanged with bed sheets from his cell and later died around 9:15 p.m. local time, Le Dauphine Libere newspaper reported.
Yassin Salhi, 35, told detectives he had killed Herve Cornara in a parking area before arriving at the plant in Saint Quentin-Fallavier, 20 miles south of Lyon, where he attempted to cause an explosion in June.

The Islamic State fanatic had been held at the massive prison outside Paris since June 26, when he strangled and then beheaded his boss, Herve Cornara, in Lyon. After the killing, Salhi, a father of three, texted a friend of selfie of him with his boss’s severed head.

He then unsuccessfully tried to set off an explosion at the U.S.-owned Air Products factory in Lyon by plowing a truck into an area containing flammable liquids. The suspect instead caused only a small explosion and was attempting to ignite bottles of acetone when he was overpowered by firefighters.

Salhi had also hung ISIS-inspired messages from a fence, beside Cornara’s head. Authorities said Salhi had ties to Islamic extremists but was likely inspired, not ordered, to carry out the killing.

His in-custody death has been ruled a suicide.

The gruesome murder came just months after gunmen attacked the satirical Charlie Hebdo newspaper and a kosher market in January. Those terror attacks, led by Islamic extremists, left 17 people dead.

France was again rocked by Islamic-extremist fueled terror when gunmen used high-powered rifles and suicide vests to slaughter 130 people in Paris on Nov. 13.
