1. Swedish Police Arrest Man For ‘Plotting Terror Attack’

Swedish police on Thursday arrested a man suspected of plotting a “terrorist attack” after a two-day manhunt, as the country steps up security after last week’s carnage in Paris.

Iraqi Mutar Muthanna Majid was apprehended during an afternoon raid on a centre for asylum seekers in the northeastern city of Boliden without incident, according to security services.

2. Jewish School Evacuated Due To Suspicious Package Bomb Squad On Scene

(Some auto-play detritus at that link)

A Jewish orthodox junior school in Gateshead, England has been evacuated after a suspicious package was found in the road behind the school. Local residents have also been asked to leave their homes for their own safety.

Children at the Tiferes Yisroel Jewish Boarding School were due to go home at lunch-time today for Shabbat, but have been sent home early following the discovery of the package.

(Musta been one large package)

3. Muslim Brotherhood backlash against UN declaration on women rights

Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood have claimed that a UN declaration calling for an end to violence against women will lead to the “complete disintegration of society”.

Delegates at the UN’s Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) in New York have spent the last fortnight debating the wording of a declaration that would condemn violence against women. The brotherhood, whose close allies control Egypt’s parliament and presidency, slated the declaration in an online statement on Thursday – calling it a decadent and destructive document that undermined Islamic ethics by calling for women to work, travel and use contraception without their husbands’ permission.

In a 10-point memorandum, the brotherhood also criticised the declaration for granting women sexual freedom, allowing Muslim women to marry non-Muslims, granting equal rights to homosexual people, and allowing wives full legal rights to take their husbands to court for marital rape.

“This declaration, if ratified, would lead to complete disintegration of society, and would certainly be the final step in the intellectual and cultural invasion of Muslim countries, eliminating the moral specificity that helps preserve cohesion of Islamic societies,” the brotherhood ‘s statement claimed.

6. Terror suspect ‘planned attack in Stockholm’

UPDATED: Police are questioning Moder Mothama Magid, a 22-year-old Iraqi man arrested on Thursday night, who is accused of planning to launch a terror attack on the Swedish capital.

A document handed to Stockholm District Court by prosecutor Hans Ihrman on Friday states that a suspected terror attack was intended to be carried out in Stockholm, Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter reported just after midday.

The paperwork names the man arrested as Moder Mothama Magid, 22 years old. It lists his nationality as ‘unknown’, despite numerous reports in Swedish media claiming he is of Iraqi descent.

He was discovered on Thursday at housing for asylum seekers in Boliden in northern Sweden, run by the Swedish Migration Agency, close to the city of Skellefteå.

7. Bomb alert in Technical University of Dortmund in Germany, suspicious device found, one arrested

GERMANY – We have just now received reports coming in from Germany pointing out the news of a possible bomb threat in a Technical University at Dortmund city in Germany.

A suspicious device was found in the Technical University of Dortmund today based on which a person has been arrested by the local police in Dortmund. It is still not clear who was behind this bomb placement or the validity of this bomb threat. […]

UPDATE 1: Unconfirmed report says the arrested person could be an Arab national

(Where would an “Arab national” be from? What they say to avoid saying muslim is pat the comical)

8. Bernie Sanders says that muslim nations primarily should destroy the Islamic State

(But why? If the IS has nothing to do with Islam?)

9. The following video may be one of the best examples of sophistry and futility, not to mention making the same historical mistake that many nations have made such as Russia in the past. Inventing a new religion and calling it islam doesn’t work. And anyone in possession of this ‘new-koran’ may as well carry a sign with Kurt Westergaard’s drawing over his head.

(Its also interesting that the speaker in the first minute contradicts himself by saying that the solution to muslims justifying their terrorism with the koran, which doesn’t really justify that, is to print a koran that doesn’t justify that, thus making the lie complete itself. Like the snake eating its own tail and expecting it to have net nutritional value. I certainly detest islam and its ‘principles’ or more accurately. justifications for lack thereof. But I would never insult them this much by expecting them to be this cataclysmically stupid.)

Here is a decent little list of fake tweets that are worthy of a glance along with a comment that appeared on Vlad this morning:

#TheOstrichBrigade: Nazism was in part due to the uniforms that the officers had to wear. Very uncomfortable in summer heat.
#TheOstrichBrigade: Instead of killing Nazis, outreach programs would have stopped Nazis from becoming radicalized.
#TheOstrichBrigade: Nazism has nothing to do with Nazism.
#TheOstrichBrigade: Hitler, Himmler, Goebbels, and Göring were in part radicalized by having access to guns, poverty, & US foreign policy.
#TheOstrichBrigage: My friend Andreas Eichmann is German and he is a lovely, peaceful, and kind person. So don’t tell me that Nazism is bad.
#TheOstrichBrigade: Nazism preaches equality of all people. There is no specific hatred toward the Jews. Only bigots make such claims.
#TheOstrichBrigade: I know of a Nazi who slept with a Jewish woman so don’t tell me that Nazis are anti-semitic. Racist!
#TheOstrichBrigade: Jews lived in Germany in security for many years so don’t tell me that Nazis are anti-semitic.

And from Chris Jones:

During WWII the Germans invaded France and Occupied Paris. If they had put a big swastika on the top of the Eiffel Tower, would it be reasonable to say that that was sacred German ground for all eternity? If Adolf Hitler had a dream in which he went to Paris on a flying horse called, “Barack”, would that make The City of Light, forever, German soil? The Quran refers to Jerusalem as the land of the Jews. The story of Islam takes place in Mecca, Medina, and surrounding areas in Arabia, not the Palestine region. The Temple Mount is holy to the Jews, not the Muslims. This entire issue is nothing but a crystal clear example of the “big lie”.

  1. #3 ” The brotherhood, whose close allies control Egypt’s parliament and presidency,”

I don’t understand this story. Al-Sissi overthrew the MB gov’t. They are not “close allies.” In fact, if I understand correctly, the MB is considered a terrorist org. in Egypt.
    Can anyone shed some light?

Oh, and boo-hoo that your whole everything will come crashing down if women get equal rights in your horribly misogynist countries. I mean a really serious boo-hoo… BOO-HOO!

  2. #4 Interesting question about IS’ oil supply chain not being bombed, but the article is written from a perspective from an economist, and doesn’t take into account geopolitics to get to a possible root cause.

Economics-wise the price of oil was already falling when IS started dumping relatively small amounts of oil onto the market (small to us, but a money maker for IS none the less). The US was also then (and still is) a large dominant supplier of oil with a large energy sector that takes a good chunk of the economy with it if it tumbles. With that said, there’s no real interest in the black market oil from the perspective of the only country meaningfully engaged with IS at the time, the US. That takes out the Ron Paul explanation that some might think of. If we where meaningfully fighting them, we would actually go after their oil fields. But we didn’t and instead chose to allow them to continue.

Also he mentioned the tumbling of Brent and the WTI crude price, and floats IS’ oil dumping as a possible culprit indirectly. But the falling price was likely driven by Saudi-Arabia trying to take out US land drillers as well as weaken Iran economically after Obama gave them a path to the nukes, billions in assets back, and waived sanctions. The Sauds were hoping to land a one-two punch by sustaining production to cause a glut, with limited success on either front.

As for the actual why I would say its another bloody finger pointing at POTUS Barack, the flying horses ass in the White House wanting to keep IS afloat. As far as I’m concerned, the Islamic State is his baby and its hands-off for everyone else.

    • Regardless of whether one looks at the price of oil from an economic or geopolitical perspective, the encompassing truth is that the world is in fact in an economic depression. This depression is a pig on which every central banker has scrawled his denial in bright red lipstick via money printing. There is not enough demand for the supply of available oil because of depressed industrial output.

Not eliminating IS oil is not eliminating IS. So you’re bang on, but one cannot ignore the economic background which is, ironically, a portending desert.
