    • Attempted Suicide Bombing near Ma’ale Adumim

Arab mother detonates car bomb near Ma’ale Adumim, lightly wounding one police officer.

Israel Police reported early Sunday morning of an explosion heard near Ma’ale Adumim, a few miles east of Jerusalem.

Police officers from the Ma’ale Adumim precinct reportedly noticed a suspicious vehicle being driven by a female Arab driver and signaled for her to stop the car for an inspection near the al-Zaim checkpoint.

The driver approached the police officers and shouted “Allahu Akbar,” seconds before detonating a bomb. Contrary to earlier reports, the Israel Police has announced that she is not dead, but seriously injured and receiving medical treatment.

An initial investigation found that the suicide bomber WAS TRAVELING WITH HER DAUGHTER INSIDE THE CAR . Testing of the car revealed several other explosives which the terrorist apparently intended to detonate in an urban center in Jerusalem.

A policeman was lightly injured with burns in the explosion and has been transferred for medical treatment. The condition of the terrorist’s daughter remains unclear.

The site of the blast, which is along Route 1, has been blocked to traffic pending the conclusion of the investigation.

  1. I was actually somewhat pleasantly surprised by two articles that ran in yesterday’s Globe and Mail.

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/german-chancellor-takes-action-on-bureaucratic-bottleneck-for-refugees/article26763391/

    http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/world/refugee-arrivals-surge-in-greece-with-bad-weather-ahead-iom/article26763010/

The first actually mentions a few facts in passing that might explain why so many Germans are apprehensive about their country’s situation:
-German government has revised its intake estimates upwards to a million
-massive brawl that took place in a German “refugee centre” in Hamburg that involved dozens of Afghans and Albanians (an aware reader might wonder people from Albania and Afghanistan are doing in a German refugee camp, given that the former is not in a state of war or famine and the latter country is over 4000 km away from Berlin).
-on Wendesday Merkel “relieved Interior Minister Thomas de Maiziere of primary responsibility for responding to the refugee crisis and put her own chief of staff in charge”(always a good sign). The fact that Merkel is running into opposition in her own party is made clear.
-the Syrian(?) refugee mentioned in the story is trying to bring his wife and child. If you combine this with the first fact I mentioned, you end up with a math problem most third-graders could solve.

The second article focuses on the situation in the Aegean Sea. It includes:
-the number of entries into Greece has gone up around 55% in a little over a week.
-it actually provides numbers that show the odds of dying on the trip are less than 1%, so a reasonable person could infer that you need not be desperate to make such a crossing, given the potential rewards.
-it mentions that “many of the arrivals are Syrians, Afghans and Iraqis fleeing war and persecution”. In other words, an inquisitive reader might wonder where the majority of these supposed refugees are coming from.

If this is the start of a new trend, it’s baby steps, or maybe the Globe’s editor in charge of making sure we don’t think critically about this human tsunami was asleep at the switch. Maybe they figure that their readers are innumerate and have no sense of geography.

    • Hopefully this is a baby step towards reporting the facts, if it is then the future articles will take larger and larger steps until they are taking giant steps.

  2. Turkey terror attack: mourning after scores killed in Ankara blasts

More than 90 killed by blasts in Turkish capital
Two explosions target pro-Kurdish peace rally near main train station
Suicide bombers mount attack three weeks before elections
PM declares three days of national mourning

    http://www.theguardian.com/world/2015/oct/10/turkey-suicide-bomb-killed-in-ankara\\

At least 95 people have been killed and around 250 wounded in the deadliest terror attack in Turkey’s history after two explosions targeted a peace rally in the centre of the capital.

Twin explosions outside Ankara’s main train station on Saturday morning targeted hundreds of people who had gathered to protest against violence between authorities and the Kurdish militant group, the PKK.

Turkish government officials said the explosions were a terrorist attack carried out by suicide bombers but no group immediately claimed responsibility. Turkey’s prime minister, Ahmet Davuto?lu, called emergency meetings with government officials and security chiefs.

  3. Turkey bomb massacre kills 95 and injures over 246 at pro-Kurdish peace rally
Warning: The video in this article shows the moment a bomb explodes at the peace rally killing 95 people and injuring over 180. Contains distressing scenes

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/turkey/11923935/Turkey-Ankara-bomb-kills-30-at-pro-Kurdish-rally.html

A double attack believed to be the work of suicide bombers on a march in the Turkish capital Ankara on Saturday killed 95 people and injured 246 others in the worst terrorist outrage in the country’s modern history.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack, which was captured in dramatic video footage taken by a cameraman filming the start of the demonstration. A group of young activists doing a traditional Turkish dance flinch and duck as an sheet of orange flame punctures the sky behind them.

They had been setting off on a protest backed by the pro-Kurdish HDP political party and leftist secular groups calling for the government to make peace with the Kurdish guerrilla group, the PKK.

  4. Turkey imposes news blackout on ‘gruesome’ blast images

    http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/E/EU_TURKEY_BLASTS_NEWS_BLACKOUT?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2015-10-10-10-18-18

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkey’s government says it has imposed a temporary news blackout following two blasts that killed 86 people who were gathering for a peace rally in the capital Ankara. The attack was Turkey’s deadliest in recent years.

A government spokesman said the blackout Saturday covered images showing the moment of the blast, gruesome or bloody images or “images that create a feeling of panic.”

He warned media organizations they could face a “full blackout” if they did not comply.

  5. Ankara terror attack: Protesters clash with police after ambulances ‘blocked’ following explosions

    http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/ankara-terror-attack-protesters-clash-with-police-after-ambulances-blocked-following-explosions-a6689016.html

Some men clashing with police appeared to have survived the bombing, with blood clearly visible on their clothing.

Police, wearing helmets and sheltering behind riot shields, were pushed back against a concrete barrier and an ambulance was able to pass through with its sirens on.

The left-wing People’s Democratic Party (HDP) claimed in a Twitter post that police “attacked people trying to carry the injured away”. The allegations could not be independently verified.

The health ministry put the death toll at 86, with at least 186 people wounded, by Saturday afternoon.

  6. Syrian army advances with help of intensified Russian air strikes

    http://www.oann.com/syrian-army-advances-in-west-after-russian-strikes-monitor/

SOCHI, Russia/AMMAN (Reuters) – Russian war planes pounded Syrian rebels unaffiliated with Islamic State on Sunday, insurgents said, helping Moscow’s ally Bashar al-Assad reclaim territory and dealing a fresh setback to the strategy of Washington and its allies.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a group that monitors the 4-year-old conflict, said the Syrian military and its Lebanese Hezbollah militia allies had taken control of Tal Skik, a highland area in Idlib province, after fierce Russian bombing.

That brings Syrian government forces closer to insurgent-held positions along the main highway that links Syria’s principal cities. The area is held by a rebel alliance that excludes Islamic State fighters.

“The coming battles are going to be ferocious, the Russians are using scorched earth policy and they are hitting the targets very accurately but this is a battle of destiny,” said Abu Hamed, the head of the military bureau of Jabhat Sham, an insurgent group that operates mainly in Hama province.

  7. Iran’s parliament gives initial nod to nuclear deal with powers

    http://www.oann.com/irans-parliament-gives-initial-nod-to-nuclear-deal-with-powers/

DUBAI (Reuters) – The Iranian parliament gave preliminary backing on Sunday to a bill approving Tehran’s nuclear agreement with world powers, with supportive voices overcoming determined opposition from conservative lawmakers.

By a vote of 139 to 100, parliament approved the first reading of a bill calling on the Tehran government to continue developing the Islamic Republic’s nuclear program in line with the July 14 deal, the state news agency IRNA reported.

The bill, proposed by parliament’s national security committee, must now pass a second vote on Tuesday before being submitted to a clerical body for final approval and passage into law.

It insists that international inspections of military sites under the nuclear deal should be approved by a top Iranian security body, leaving the possibility that disagreements could still arise during the implementation phase.

  8. Thousands of Lebanese rally for Christian politician Aoun

    http://www.oann.com/thousands-of-lebanese-rally-for-christian-politician-aoun/

BEIRUT (Reuters) – Thousands of Lebanese rallied at the presidential palace outside Beirut on Sunday in a show of support for Christian politician Michel Aoun, pressing their demand for him to fill the presidency vacant for over a year.

Waving the orange flag of Aoun’s Free Patriotic Movement (FPM), they packed streets in the Baabda district that houses the headquarters of the presidency.

The presidency is set aside for a Maronite Christian but has been unoccupied due to a political crisis stoked by regional conflicts including the war in neighboring Syria.

“The president of the republic shouldn’t be just any person who fills the post, as some people want him to be,” Aoun told the crowd as his supporters shouted, “Aoun for president of the republic!”

“It should be someone who is like you, who reflects you and who rejects oppression and stands up for your rights,” he said.

  10. Iraqi air force hits convoy of Islamic State leader Baghdadi

    http://www.oann.com/iraqi-air-force-hits-convoy-of-islamic-state-leader-baghdadi-statement/

BAGHDAD (Reuters) – The Iraqi air force struck a convoy of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi in western Anbar province close to the Syrian border on Sunday, a military statement said.

The fate of the militant leader, who has declared himself the leader of a caliphate in areas his ultrahardline Sunni group controls in Iraq and Syria, is unknown, the military said.

“Iraqi air forces have bombed the convoy of the terrorist Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi while he was heading to Karabla to attend a meeting with Daesh commanders,” the statement read, using the Arabic acronym for Islamic State.

The military said the air force bombed a location where Baghdadi was planning to meet Islamic States commanders.

    • BBC – – Iraq’s air force has hit a convoy of Islamic State leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, a military statement says.

The fate of the IS leader was unknown, it said. The strike has not been independently confirmed.

The attack is said to have happened in western Anbar province, near the Syrian border.

There have previously been reports that the IS leader has been killed or seriously injured in attacks, but none was subsequently confirmed.

The Iraqi air force “bombed the convoy of the terrorist Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi while he was heading to Karabla to attend a meeting” with Daesh (IS) commanders”, Sunday’s statement said.

“The location of the meeting was also bombed and many of the group’s leaders were killed and wounded,” it added.
      Low profile

Rumours about Baghdadi’s death surfaced earlier this year, after reports that he had been seriously wounded in an air strike in March by the US-led coalition that is opposing IS.

Reports that he was injured in 2014 were inaccurate.

Baghdadi has been careful to reveal little about himself and his whereabouts, and even his own fighters reportedly do not speak about seeing him face-to-face.

In October 2011, the US officially designated Baghdadi as a “terrorist” and offered a $10m (£5.8m; 7.3m euros) reward for information leading to his capture or death.

An airstrike on a gathering of Islamic State members in a town in western Iraq on Sunday killed several leaders but the group’s top man, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was not among them, hospital sources and residents said.

Iraq’s military said earlier that it had targeted a meeting of Islamic State leaders and a convoy carrying Baghdadi to the gathering in two separate airstrikes.

  11. Iran tests new precision-guided ballistic missile

    http://www.oann.com/iran-tests-new-precision-guided-ballistic-missile/

DUBAI (Reuters) – Iran has successfully tested a new precision-guided ballistic missile, its defense minister said on Sunday, signaling an apparent advance in Iranian attempts to improve the accuracy of its missile arsenal.

The Islamic Republic has one of the largest missile programs in the Middle East, despite a United Nations arms embargo, but its potential effectiveness has been limited by poor accuracy.

State television showed what appeared to be a successful launch of the new missile, named Emad, which will be Iran’s first precision-guided weapon with the range to strike its regional arch-enemy Israel.

“The Emad missile is able to strike targets with a high level of precision and completely destroy them…This greatly increases Iran’s strategic deterrence capability,” Defence Minister Hossein Dehghan said at a televised news conference.

  12. Central bank cavalry can no longer save the world

    http://www.oann.com/central-bank-cavalry-can-no-longer-save-the-world/

LIMA (Reuters) – In 2008 central banks, led by the Federal Reserve, rode to the rescue of the global financial system. Seven years on and trillions of dollars later they no longer have the answers and may even represent a major risk for the global economy.

A report by the Group of Thirty, an international body led by former European Central Bank chief Jean-Claude Trichet, warned on Saturday that zero rates and money printing were not sufficient to revive economic growth and risked becoming semi-permanent measures.

“Central banks have described their actions as ‘buying time’ for governments to finally resolve the crisis… But time is wearing on, and (bond) purchases have had their price,” the report said.

In the United States, the Federal Reserve ended its bond purchase program in 2014, and had been expected to raise interest rates from zero as early as June 2015.

But it may struggle to implement its first hike in almost 10 years by the end of the year. Market pricing in interest rate futures puts a hike in March 2016.

    • Pay close attention to the economic side of the situation, a major collapse will trigger a war and a war will trigger a major collapse. Either way there wiil; be massive civil unrest and violence.

At Breitbart, John Nolte notices that David Frum is trying to school Ben Carson on “gun control.” (The correct expression for the concept intended is gun restrictions, so I will use that here.)

What Nolte calls out is Frum’s remarkable assertion that a gun-restriction policy in Germany could have prevented the Holocaust.

Hold back the laughter for a moment. You’re going to want the information below, so please follow along with me. I promise, this is better than a meme image with a questionable “quote” from Hitler.

First, Frum really did suggest that Hitler could have been stopped with a little creative gun restriction. Nolte has the quote, from a Frum article at The Atlantic posted on 10 October:

  15. RAF given green light to shoot down hostile Russian jets in Syria

As relations between the West and Russia steadily deteriorate, Royal Air Force (RAF) pilots have been given the go-ahead to shoot down Russian military jets when flying missions over Syria and Iraq, if they are endangered by them. The development comes with warnings that the UK and Russia are now “one step closer” to being at war.

RAF Tornado pilots have been instructed to avoid contact with Russian aircraft while engaged in missions for Operation Shader – the codename for the RAF’s anti-Isis work in Iraq and Syria. But their aircraft have been armed with air-to-air missiles and the pilots have been given the green light to defend themselves if they are threatened by Russian pilots.

“The first thing a British pilot will do is to try to avoid a situation where an air-to-air attack is likely to occur — you avoid an area if there is Russian activity,” an unidentified source from the UK’s Permanent Joint Headquarters (PJHQ) told the Sunday Times. “But if a pilot is fired on or believes he is about to be fired on, he can defend himself. We now have a situation where a single pilot, irrespective of nationality, can have a strategic impact on future events.”

The RAF Tornados aircraft will be armed with heat-seeking Advanced Short Range Air-to-Air Missiles (Asraams, also called AIM-132 missiles). These weapons, which cost £200,000 each, can reach triple the speed of sound and have a longer range than other air-to-air missiles, allowing RAF pilots to shoot down enemy aircraft without being targeted themselves.

The Sunday Times’ report quoted a defence source as saying: “Up till now RAF Tornados have been equipped with 500lb satellite-guided bombs — there has been no or little air-to-air threat. But in the last week the situation has changed. We need to respond accordingly.”

“We need to protect our pilots but at the same time,” said another source. “We’re taking a step closer to war. It will only take one plane to be shot down in an air-to-air battle and the whole landscape will change.”
    Russia in Syria

The move comes after Russia’s entry into the civil war in Syria in support of President Bashar al-Assad’s government forces. The US has branded Russia’s involvement as “fundamentally flawed”, with the Kremlin facing accusations that it is ignoring IS fighters to go after al-Assad’s opponents.

According to a report in the Sunday Times, an appraisal carried out by UK defence officials said: “It took six days for Russia to strike any Isis targets at all. Their air strikes have included moderate opposition groups who have been fighting to defend their areas from Isis. Among the targets hit were three field hospitals.”

In the past 24 hours Russia’s Defence Ministry said that it has continued its air strikes on IS positions in Hama, Idlib, Latakia and Raqqa. It reported that the attacks resulted in the “complete destruction” of “53 fortified areas and strong points with armament and military hardware”, seven ammunition depots, four field camps of “terrorists”, one command centre, and artillery and mortar batteries.

On 28 September, when speaking to the US state-run Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Putin ruled out sending ground troops to Syria, saying it was “out of question”.

“I’ve been watching this migration, and I see these people. I mean, they’re mostly men, and they’re strong men,” Trump said on CBS’s “Face the Nation” on Sunday. “They look like prime-time soldiers.”

“But where are the women?” he asked. “You see some women, you see some children. But for the most part, I’m looking at these strong men. So you ask two things: number one, why aren’t they fighting for their country? And number two, I don’t want these people coming over here.”

Trump said he would begrudgingly accept 3,000 refugees, but argued a number like 10,000 or 200,000 could represent a “Trojan horse.”

“This could be the greatest Trojan Horse,” the business mogul said. “This could make the Trojan horse look like peanuts if these people turned out to be a lot of ISIS.”

    • He is right, they do look like an invading army and several groups ISIS and some smaller say they have fighters embedded among the “refugees”. Given the size of the invasion force and the lack of facilities to house and feed them the military aspect of the conquest of Europe is about to start.

  18. Clinton Email Names Top CIA Source in Libya

    http://pjmedia.com/tatler/2015/10/10/clinton-email-names-top-cia-source/

In one of the more appalling breaches of security to date coming from the release of Hillary Clinton’s emails stored or sent through her private server, the name of the top CIA intelligence asset in Libya was named. The email revealing the source was sent by Clinton crony Sidney Blumenthal to her account, and then forwarded to others in the State Department by Clinton.

The emails also show Blumenthal’s blatant influence-peddling as he tried to use his relationship with Hillary to advance his business interests.

    Daily Caller:

“She is exposing the name of a guy who has a clandestine relationship with the CIA on her private, unprotected server,” John Maguire, a former CIA officer who worked in the Mideast, told Yahoo Politics.

Gowdy highlighted the email in a recent letter to Maryland U.S. Rep. Elijah Cummings. In the 13-page document, he also provides excerpts of emails which indicate that Blumenthal was advancing his own business interests in a private defense contractor called Osprey Global Solutions.

Gowdy also informed Cummings that he plans to release that email — and another 1,500 that the State Department belatedly gave the Committee last month — into the public domain within the next few days.

“Tyler spoke to a colleague currently at CIA, who told him the agency had been dependent for intelligence from [redacted due to sources and methods],” Blumenthal’s email states, according to Gowdy’s letter.

“Tyler” is Tyler Drumheller, a former CIA official who provided Blumenthal with much of the intelligence that he forwarded directly to Clinton’s personal email account, which was maintained on a private server. He also shared financial interests in Osprey with Blumenthal.

  19. Germany: Migrant Crime Wave, Police Capitulate

    http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/6668/germany-migrant-crime-wave

According to a classified document, the German government now estimates that Germany will receive as many as 1.5 million asylum seekers in 2015, including 920,000 in the last quarter of 2015 alone. With family reunifications, the actual number of asylum seekers could swell to more than 7 million. Separately, German authorities now estimate that at least 290,000 migrants and refugees have entered the country without being registered.

“The behavior of these highly delinquent youths towards police officers can be characterized as aggressive, disrespectful and condescending. … When they are arrested, they resist and assault [police officers]. The youths have no respect for state institutions.” — Confidential report, leaked to Die Welt.

In Berlin, a classified police report revealed that a dozen Arab clans hold reign over the city’s criminal underworld. The report says the clans, which are dedicated to dealing drugs, robbing banks and burglarizing department stores, run a “parallel justice system” in which they resolve disputes among themselves with mediators from other crime families. If the state gets involved, the clans use cash payments or threats of violence to influence witnesses.

“For years the policy has been to leave the population in the dark about the actual crime situation… The citizens are being played for fools.” — André Schulz, head of the Association of Criminal Police.

According to the President of the German Police Union, “In Berlin or in the north of Duisburg there are neighborhoods where colleagues hardly dare to stop a car — because they know that they’ll be surrounded by 40 or 50 men.” These attacks amount to a “deliberate challenge to the authority of the state — attacks in which the perpetrators are expressing their contempt for our society.”

Asylum seekers are driving a surge in violent crime in cities and towns across Germany. German authorities, however, are downplaying the lawlessness, apparently to avoid fueling anti-immigration sentiment.

A confidential police report leaked to a German newspaper reveals that a record-breaking 38,000 asylum seekers were accused of committing crimes in the country in 2014. Analysts believe this figure — which works out to more than 100 a day — is only the tip of the iceberg, as many crimes are either not resolved or not reported.

The current spike in crime — including rapes, sexual and physical assaults, stabbings, home invasions, robberies, burglaries and drug trafficking — comes amid a record-breaking influx of refugees from Africa, Asia, the Middle East and the Western Balkans.

According to a classified document obtained by the German newspaper, Bild, the government now estimates that Germany will receive as many as 1.5 million asylum seekers in 2015, including 920,000 in the last quarter of 2015 alone. This figure is nearly double the previous estimate, from August, which was 800,000 for all of 2015. By comparison, Germany received 202,000 asylum seekers in all of 2014.

A video posted on social media over the weekend revealed graphic images of a man from the settlement of Kiryat Arba apparently placing pig flesh on the body of a Palestinian moments after he was killed carrying out a stabbing attack against Israeli border police.

In a video first posted on Facebook, the man can be seen carrying what appears to be ham or a similar pork product before placing it on the attacker. Magen David Adom paramedics were seen administering treatment to the Palestinian man, who was soon declared dead at the scene.

The graphic video was published by the Walla news site.

The incident took place after the Palestinian attacker stabbed a police officer in Kiryat Arba, adjacent to Hebron. The officer was lightly wounded and the stabber was shot by other officers. He died from his wounds on the way to hospital.

Police said that he had tried to grab the officer’s gun after stabbing him.

Pig flesh is considered impure in both Muslim and Jewish traditions and is not eaten by adherents of either faith. Some claim that if a Muslim is buried with a pig, he cannot receive Allah’s blessing in the afterlife, and that, therefore, placing pig flesh or blood on the bodies of Muslim terrorists could render them ineligible for martyr status.

Right-wing activist Itamar Ben Gvir praised the act, saying the person who did it “should be given a medal,” the Walla report said.

“If this could prevent terror attacks, then we are definitely talking about the idea of the year,” he said. “It’s time for us to stop with this self-righteousness and realize that we are in a war for our survival.”

The practice of using pig flesh to spiritually defile the bodies of dead Muslim fighters dates back to the 19th century Philippines insurrection against the United States, but has been proposed in recent years by some as a deterrent to Islamist terrorism.

In 2001, deputy public security minister Gideon Ezra made the suggestion in an interview with the Israeli daily Yedioth Ahronoth. Ezra claimed burying Palestinian suicide bombers with pig skin or pig blood could deter potential attackers.

IRVING (CBS11) – Chilling words from strangers after several pages of emails emerged Thursday night detailing the threats Irving Police and Mayor Beth Van Duyne have been receiving in the aftermath of the city’s “clock controversy.”

About 14 pages of messages and comments were released showing some of the response from the public in the days after Irving teen Ahmed Mohamed was put in cuffs for his homemade clock that was perceived by authorities to be a “hoax bomb” at the time.

“There are consequences. We are a group of aircraft owners, operators and pilots who provide free emergency and non-emergency space available air transportation,” wrote one man. “Not for you (expletive)’s. All employees of Irving ISD and the Irving PD and their immediate family members are banned from our aircraft. That means that our members will watch your child die bleeding and convulsing on the Love Field tarmac.”

  26. Russia’s Putin, Saudi defense minister agree to cooperate in Syria

Russian President Vladimir Putin met Saudi Arabia’s defense minister on Sunday, in Moscow’s biggest attempt so far to reach out to enemies of Syria’s President Bashar al-Assad since Russia joined the conflict with air strikes.

Speaking after the meeting between Putin and Sheikh Mohammed bin Salman, a son of the Saudi king, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said both countries were willing to cooperate in Syria and wanted to prevent the formation of a “terrorist caliphate”.

“On both sides, as far as I can tell, there is an understanding that today’s meeting can advance our cooperation,” Lavrov said.

Russia’s intervention in Syria has infuriated Assad’s regional foes, including Saudi Arabia, who say Russian air strikes have been hitting rebel groups opposed to Assad, and not just the Islamic State fighters Moscow says it is targeting.

Lavrov acknowledged that Saudi Arabia had “concerns” about Russia’s aims but said it was targeting only extremists, including Islamic State and Jabhat al Nusra, a group linked to al Qaeda.

The Russian air strikes derailed a tentative detente between the two countries earlier this year, which aimed to smooth tensions over Syria and relations with Riyadh’s regional rival Iran.

“We expressed our concerns that these operations could be regarded as an alliance between Iran and Russia,” said Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir.

“But in the conversation, our Russian friends explained to us that the main aim is the fight with ISIS and terrorism,” he added, using an acronym for Islamic State.

Russia: Putin responds to West’s criticisms of anti-terror operation in Syria

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed the ongoing anti-terror operation in Syria during an interview with Russian journalist Vladimir Solovyov in Sochi, Sunday.

SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): “If we speak about the military component, we tell our partners, when we hear them blaming us for our strikes not hitting ISIS or other terrorist organisations like Jabhat al-Nusra and others, but the allied part of the opposition so to speak. And we told them: If you know the situation on the ground better than we do as you have been there for more than a year – unlawfully, but still you are present there – if you know better, though I doubt it but let’s say, give us the targets. We will work on them.”

SOT, Vladimir Solovyov, journalist (Russian): “Have they declined?”

SOT, Vladimir Putin, Russian President (Russian): “Yes, they declined. They said ‘No, we will not be working on this level’, it is not clear why. If they really know better and want to fight terrorism, tell us the direct locations where the terrorists are sheltering, where they have command points, ammunition depots and equipment, give us the targets. What could be easier? But so far we haven’t reached such level of joint work, but I’d like to repeat that the first steps in establishing the contacts on the military level have been made.”

    • this move gives Putin massive amounts of control of the worlds energy sources, He has a lot of influence in the energy production of South America and China is making moves on that in the Pacific. About the only only way the west will have to lessen Putin’s control will be for the US to start selling oil and the left is working tooth and nail to prevent us from being able to export oil. Either Ford or Carter signed the law that a Democrat Congress passed that prevents the US from selling US produced oil anywhere but the US, removing this restriction will cause massive exploration in the US and drive the worlds price of oil down, a move that will help the economy of all western nations.

  27. Israelis call up more police officers amid continued violence

    http://www.latimes.com/world/middleeast/la-fg-israel-palestinians-clashes-20151011-story.html

Israel began calling up additional police reserves Sunday to deploy in Jerusalem and elsewhere as the latest violent escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict entered its second week, heightening concerns it would spiral out of control.

A Palestinian woman and her 2-year-old daughter were killed early in the day in the Gaza Strip, according to Palestinian medical authorities, when their house collapsed after an Israeli airstrike in response to rocket fire into Israel overnight. Rocket fire has been infrequent since the summer war of 2014 but the rising Palestinian death toll in border clashes of recent days has tested the fragile calm in the coastal enclave.

Palestinian medical sources also reported a 13-year-old Palestinian boy was shot and killed during clashes between protesters and Israeli security forces near Ramallah

  28. Hamas warns Israel against ‘foolishness’ after deadly strike

    http://news.yahoo.com/hamas-warns-israel-against-foolishness-deadly-strike-101718738.html

Gaza City (Palestinian Territories) (AFP) – Islamist movement Hamas on Sunday warned Israel against “foolishness” after an air strike by the Jewish state in the Gaza Strip in response to rocket fire killed a pregnant woman and her toddler.

“This shows the occupation’s desire to escalate,” said Sami Abu Zuhri, a spokesman for Hamas, which rules the Gaza Strip. “We warn the occupation against continuing this foolishness.”

Israel said it targeted two Hamas weapon manufacturing facilities after Gaza militants fired two rockets and following attempts by Palestinians to violently cross the border.

One of the rockets had hit an open field in southern Israel and the other was intercepted.
