“A Pakistani prison official says authorities have executed a man who was reportedly a juvenile at the time of his arrest in a murder case, according to an international rights group.

The official, Omar Farooq, says Ansar Iqbal was executed on Tuesday at a prison in Sargodha, a city in the eastern Punjab province. He says Iqbal’s body has been handed over to his family for burial.

On Monday, Maya Foa, an official with the rights group Reprieve, appealed on Pakistan not to hang Iqbal, saying that he was a juvenile at the time of his arrest.

Pakistan has executed 239 convicts since lifting a 2008 moratorium on executions following last December’s Taliban attack on a school in the northwestern city of Peshawar that killed 150 people, mostly children.”

“Russia is considering whether to follow the US and its allies in conducting air strikes against Islamic State (IS) targets, President Vladimir Putin says.

Mr Putin spoke after meeting Barack Obama on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly (UNGA).

The city fell Monday with the Taliban overrunning government buildings and hoisting their flag in the city square.

Sarwar Hussaini, a provincial police spokesman, says Afghan forces have launched an operation on several fronts around Kunduz to try and retake the city.

Kunduz is the first city seized by the Taliban since their regime was overthrown in a U.S.-led invasion in 2001. The city’s fall comes as President Ashraf Ghani marks one year office.”

“The Islamic State militant group claimed responsibility for gunning down an Italian citizen on the street in the diplomatic quarter of Bangladesh’s capital, according to an intelligence group monitoring jihadist threats.

The claim by the Sunni extremist group could not immediately be verified independently, but if confirmed would mark the group’s first attack in the secular South Asian nation. 9. IRAN – Eight players from Iran’s female team ‘not fully women’

Iran’s national women’s team has come under fire this week after it emerged that eight players of the group were not females, according to Al Arabiya News Channel’s Arabic language website.

“[Eight players] have been playing with Iran’s female team without completing sex change operations,” Mojtabi Sharifi, an official close to the Iranian league, said during an interview with the Iranian website Young Journalists Club. The proportion of players in the team who were born men was not known.

Sharifi, who did not mention the name of the players, but said that some of them have played as men their entire career but only revealed their gender on the last day of their duty.

He added that Iran’s football governing body was entirely responsible for the scandal which he described as “unethical”

The country’s football governing body did not react to Sharifi’s comments.

Doubts regarding the gender of some apparently female players in Iran have existed for a long time, with suspicions raised about a goalkeeper back in 2010.

  10. Reuters – U.S. sanctions Islamic State supporters, targets finances

The United States imposed sanctions on Tuesday against more than 30 Islamic State leaders, financial figures, supporters and affiliated groups in an effort to block the militants from the international financial system.

The Treasury Department announced sanctions against 15 Islamic State figures, including those it identified as supporters and facilitators.

The State Department designated 10 individuals and five groups as foreign terrorist fighters, including citizens of France, Britain, a designation that imposes sanctions and penalties on terrorists, it said in a statement.

The announcements represent a “real ramp-up” in the effort to block Islamic State from the international financial system, a senior U.S. official told reporters on a conference call.

“Treasury remains relentless about depleting ISIL’s financial strength and denying this violent terrorist group access to the international financial system,” Adam J. Szubin, acting undersecretary for terrorism and financial intelligence, said in a statement, using an acronym for the group.

The State Department designations included Islamic State’s Khorasan and Caucuses affiliates, as well as Islamic State-linked groups operating in Indonesia and Algeria.

The newly designated individuals include citizens of Britain, France, Russia, Syria, Morocco, Saudi Arabia and Tunisia.

Several of the people targeted by Treasury were among the four British citizens added to the United Nations’ al Qaeda sanctions list Monday, it said.

The diverse nationalities highlight the global nature of the Islamic State threat, a second U.S. official said on the conference call.

They will face travel bans and a freeze on assets

The U.K. has submitted the names of four British jihadists fighting with or recruiting for the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria to the U.N. list of people facing international sanctions for their role in supporting the terror group.

The four new names added to the U.N. sanctions list list are Omar Hussain, Nasser Methane, Aqsa Mahmood and Sally-Anne Jones, a 46-year-old convert to Islam and one-time punk rock musician nicknamed the “punk jihadi” in the British tabloid press. Each will face a travel ban and a freeze on assets, though neither penalty will have much impact, at least in the near future, on jihadists who intend to continue operating within ISIS, reports the BBC.

The additions mark the first since 2006 that the U.K. has added named to the U.N. sanctions list, which includes 231 individuals and 72 organizations. According to British law enforcement, at least 700 people have traveled from Britain to the Middle East to support the Islamic State, half of whom have returned to the UK.

    • Asylum Seeker Arrested in Denmark After Police Stabbing

Copenhagen, Denmark: Danish police on Tuesday arrested a Palestinian man suspected of stabbing a policeman at the country’s largest reception centre for asylum seekers, which had sparked a manhunt in the area.

The officer was critically wounded after being stabbed three times in the stomach, but after surgery his condition was stable.

“The case is being investigated as an attempted homicide,” local police said in a statement.

The suspect was a stateless Palestinian man born in 1990 who was about to be deported from the country. It is unclear how long he has spent in Denmark, or where the authorities planned to deport him to.

Earlier in the day a large area had been cordoned off around the former military barracks at Center Sandholm, Denmark’s largest facility for asylum seekers, which currently houses around 600 people.

The centre, which lies around 20 kilometres (12 miles) northwest of Copenhagen, receives newly-arrived asylum seekers as well as those who have had their applications rejected and are due to leave the country.

Since Europe’s refugee crisis began spilling into Denmark on September 6, at least 17,700 migrants have entered the country, according to police figures, but most have continued to neighbouring Sweden which has a more generous asylum policy.

Over the past three weeks, around 100 people have been applying for asylum each day, the Danish Immigration Service said.

  14. Number of Egyptian minor migrants is alarmingly high: IOM

62% of irregular Egyptian migrants to Italy are minors searching for better living conditions elsewhere, says International Organization for Migration

The regional director for the International Organization for Migration, Omar Taha, said on Tuesday that Egypt has an alarmingly high percentage of minors irregularly migrating to Europe.

In an interview with Aswat Masriya, Omar added that Italy received 4000 migrants in 2014, 2000 of who were minors without their parents or relatives.

Taha further explained that that the percentage slightly increased during the first six months of 2015, with the number of irregular child migrants rising to 62%.

He also called for the establishment of shelters, health care and education centres in Egypt to receive the migrants upon their arrival back to the country.

High unemployment rates in Egypt and the political unrest in neighboring countries has led to an increase of irregular migration to Europe. The absence of a strict punishment for smugglers has also contributed to the high migration rate among youth in Egypt.

The chairman of the Egyptian National Commission against Illegal Migration, Naela Gabr, previously warned of the increasing number of irregular, unaccompanied child migrants. She added that some southern European countries’ laws allow minor migrants residency until they reach the age of 18, thus resulting in the number of minor migrants surpassing that of migrants between the ages of 18-35.

Gabr also said in an interview with Aswat Masriya that the national commission previously drafted a law to combat irregular migration and the smuggling of migrants. However, she added that Egyptian law does not yet criminalise irregular migration.

Gabr said that the law that was submitted to the transitional justice department during former Prime Minister Ibrahim Mahlab’s first government criminalises irregular migration and imposes sentences of up to 25 years in jail for the smugglers in the case of the death of migrants.

According to the International Labour Organization, out of the total number of global migrants, the percentage of irregular migrants in the world is between 10-15%. The number of irregular migrants in Europe is estimated by the International Organization for Migration to be around 1.5 million people while the European border control organisation Frontex announced that the number of irregular migrants has increased by 250% during the first two months of 2015.

Large numbers of migrants from African and Middle Eastern countries have been attempting to cross the Mediterranean in recent years, primarily from the Libyan coastline, in order to reach Europe. Many are refugees fleeing war or persecution, while others are migrants searching for employment.

Egyptians and people from other nationalities are regularly arrested by Egyptian authorities while trying to illegally cross its borders.

    http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/u-n-hungary-defends-blocking-migrants-says-fences-not-fun-n435776

“UNITED NATIONS — Hungary’s foreign minister on Tuesday rejected criticism of his country’s handling of migrants fleeing to Europe from war zones and said the decision to build fences on its borders was not done “for fun,” but to protect the European Union.

Thousands of refugees cross the border daily to Hungary, a landlocked country of 10 million and an eastern outpost of Europe’s passport-free Schengen zone, and hope to travel on to Germany or northern Europe.

“This is not a refugee crisis or a migrant crisis, it’s a mass popular movement with an unlimited supply of people,” Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto told reporters at the United Nations on the sidelines of the annual gathering of world leaders.

“A day after a strategic northern city fell to the Taliban, the insurgents fanned out in full force Tuesday, closing roads, throwing up checkpoints and torching government buildings as fearful residents huddled indoors amid signs a promised Afghan counteroffensive was faltering.

U.S. warplanes carried out two airstrikes on Taliban positions, but government ground troops sent to try to retake Kunduz, one of Afghanistan’s wealthiest cities, were stalled by roadblocks and ambushes, unable to move closer than about a mile (two kilometers) toward their target.

  21. Mark Zuckerberg caught admitting to plans to censor anti-migrant posts

Facebook thought police to censor “anti-migrant” posts
    By Alex Thomas

(INTELLIHUB) — In yet another startling example of Facebook’s increasing power to control public thought, the CEO of the massive social media network was recently caught on mic discussing his plans to censor posts that the sites thought police deem anti-migrant.

The discussion, between Zuckerberg and German Chancellor Angela Merkel, was caught on a hot mic during sideline discussions at the United Nations. Merkel can be heard pressing Zuckerberg about what she deemed to be “anti-migrant” posts on the social media site after which the Facebook CEO makes clear that his site is working on censoring them.

“We need to do some work,” Zuckerberg stated in response to a question by Merkel about what she deems to be hate posts on Facebook.

“Are you working on this?” Merkel asks in English. “Yeah,” Zuckerberg responds before being cut off as introductory remarks for the United Nations development summit in New York begin.

Right on que, media outlets such as CNBC and Bloomberg claimed that the pair were discussing the curtailing of racist hate posts on Facebook, despite the fact that no actual policy as to what is an isn’t allowed on the site in regards to the migrant crisis has been revealed to the public.

With Facebook’s long history of supporting left wing ideas and censoring alternative media content, one can only imagine that Zuckerberg meant any Facebook post criticizing allowing millions of refugees into Europe would be removed.

As Mikael Thalen of Infowars.com notes, “Only just last week, an article by Infowars’ Kit Daniels examining the pope’s controversial comments on mass immigration was pulled and barred from Facebook without explanation.”

“Since the migrant crisis began, news outlets across the globe have both covered up crucial facts, specifically NATO’s responsibility in destabilizing Syria, and gone out of their way to outright ignore any stories that highlight the criminal acts of migrants.”

The power that Facebook now has in controlling and shaping public thought is a direct threat to freedom worldwide, especially considering Zuckerberg’s detailed hard left beliefs. And now the social media giant is apparently in the process of curtailing free speech throughout their website, all in the name of political correctness and the belief that they are the all encompassing thought police.

  22. UK LONDON – Morden: Baitul Futuh Mosque fire ‘not an attack on Islam’ says Scotland Yard

The fire that tore through buildings at the Baitul Futuh Mosque in Morden was not an attack on Islam, police believe. Ten fire engines and 70 fire fighters and officers battled the blaze at one Europe’s biggest mosques on 26 Setember.

The fire affected the administration building and associated halls next to the mosque. The ancillary building suffered extensive damage to its ground floor, first floor and roof. About 30 people fled the building before London Fire Brigade arrived. Crews from New Malden, Wandsworth, Tooting, Sutton, Mitcham, Norbury and other surrounding fire stations also attended the incident.

One man believed to have been in his 40s was taken to hospital with smoke inhalation but others attending the mosque were unhurt. On Sunday, 27 September, two males – aged 14 and 16 – were arrested on suspicion of arson, the youngest of whom was bailed pending further enquiries to a date in early January while the other was released and will face no further action.

The building was completed in 2003 and is estimated to have cost £5.5m ($8.4m)to build and the mosque can accommodate 10,500 worshippers. A Met Police statement ruled out the fire was started as part of a hate crime. “While enquiries into the circumstances continue, there is nothing to suggest at this stage that this is a hate crime,” it read.
