  1. THE TELEGRAPH – US-trained Division 30 rebels ‘betrayed US and hand weapons over to al-Qaeda’s affiliate in Syria’

Pentagon-trained rebels are reported to have betrayed US and handed weapons over to Jabhat al-Nusra immediately after entering Syria .

Pentagon-trained rebels in Syria are reported to have betrayed their American backers and handed their weapons over to al-Qaeda in Syria immediately after re-entering the country.

Fighters with Division 30, the “moderate” rebel division favoured by the United States, surrendered to the al-Qaeda-affiliated Jabhat al-Nusra, a raft of sources claimed on Monday night.

Division 30 was the first faction whose fighters graduated from a US-led training programme in Turkey which aims to forge a force on the ground in Syria to fight against Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (Isil).

A statement on Twitter by a man calling himself Abu Fahd al-Tunisi, a member of al-Qaeda’s local affiliate Jabhat al-Nusra, read: “A strong slap for America… the new group from Division 30 that entered yesterday hands over all of its weapons to Jabhat al-Nusra after being granted safe passage.

“They handed over a very large amount of ammunition and medium weaponry and a number of pick-ups.”

“He promised to issue a statement… repudiating Division 30, the coalition, and those who trained him,” he tweeted. “And he also gave a large amount of weapons to Jabhat al-Nusra.”

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR), a monitoring group, reported that seventy-five Division 30 fighters had crossed into Syria from Turkey early the day before with “12 four-wheel vehicles equipped with machine guns and ammunition”.

US Central Command confirmed about 70 graduates of the Syria “train and equip” programme had re-entered Syria with their weapons and equipment and were operating as New Syrian Forces alongside Syrian Kurds, Sunni Arab and other anti-Isil forces.

The latest disaster, if true, will be the second to befall the programme. Last month, after the first group of fighters re-entered, the militia was attacked and routed by Jabhat al-Nusra, which stormed its headquarters and kidnapped a number of its members.

At the weekend, the group’s chief of staff also resigned, saying the training programme was “not serious”.

In the statement, Lieutenant Colonel Mohammad al-Dhaher complained of insufficient numbers of trainees and fighters, inadequate supplies, and even “a lack of accuracy and method in the selection of Division 30’s cadres”.

The latest developments have only added to the scorn heaped on the much-criticized $500 million (£320m) program, which aimed to forge a 5,400-strong force of “moderate” rebels to combat Isil.

It has been hampered by problems almost from the outset, with rebels complaining of a laborious vetting process. The biggest point of contention is that they are only allowed to fight Isil, not the Assad regime, which is the principal enemy for most opposition groups.

  2. I’m adding stuff without having read what’s already here but time’s short –
    ——–
Hizballah: Let them choke on their billions. If they don’t, here are some of the ways they may spend the windfall:
Increased Iranian spending will . . . benefit Hizballah’s regional and international operations. The group is no longer limited to jockeying for political power in Lebanon and fighting Israel. With more money, it could step up its aid to Shiite militias in Iraq and Yemen in cooperation with Iran, sending small numbers of skilled trainers to bolster local forces and, in some cases, fight alongside them. . . . Hizballah is [already] busier than ever . . . in Syria, where it is engaged in expensive military operations and support activities.

Meanwhile, the group has expanded its regional activities further afield. . . . In April 2014, two Hizballah operatives were arrested in Thailand, one of whom admitted that the two were there to carry out a bomb attack targeting Israeli tourists. . . . More recently, Peruvian counterterrorism police arrested a Hizballah operative in Lima. . . . [His] targets included places associated with Israelis and Jews in Peru, including areas popular with Israeli backpackers, the Israeli embassy in Lima, and Jewish community institutions. . . .

While the Iran deal leaves much open to interpretation, one thing is certain: for Iran this deal is strictly transactional, not transformational. To the contrary, Iran is almost certain to increase its clandestine activities and support for proxies engaged in asymmetric warfare and reasonably deniable intelligence and terrorist operations. In other words, Hizballah is about to take a place of even greater prominence in the planning of Iran’s revolutionary elite.

Al-Azhar Univ Prof. Al-Hilali: Human Life Is More Important than the Al-Aqsa Mosque
    Published Sep 21, 2015

In a recent TV interview, Al-Azhar University Professor Saad Al-Din Al-Hilali said that human life was more important than anything else, adding that the Al-Aqsa Mosque was in the hands of non-Muslims on the day the Prophet Muhammad died. “These people are dying for the sake of turning the war into a religious war,” said Al-Hilali, a professor of comparative jurisprudence at Al-Azhar University. The interview aired on Al-Youm TV on September 16, 2015.

    • The “al-Aqsa is in Danger” is a Muslim Brotherhood-creation. It’s a weapon against the Jews in Jerusalem – and since “Jerusalem” is everywhere, even Pakistan and Yemen – that means Jews everywhere. This article explains how this incitement libel is being used right now.

      The Muslim Schism over Jerusalem
Amid the systematic destruction of mosques and holy places in the Arab world, it is precisely Israel’s responsibility for security at the mosque compound on the Temple Mount that protects the mosques there from a similar fate.

The Sunni controversy between the Salafis – from whom Al-Qaeda emerged – and the Muslim Brotherhood is about what constitutes the center of Islam. Whereas the Salafis view the Arabian sites of Hijaz and Mecca as the center of the faith, the Muslim Brotherhood locates it at the ancient Cairo Al-Azhar University.

Because Cairo has no special religious holiness, the Brotherhood regards Jerusalem as their religious center. From the Salafis’ standpoint, the Muslim Brotherhood’s enhancement of the special status of Jerusalem poses a danger to the status of Mecca. Jerusalem was at the bottom of agenda for the Prophet and his successors, and Mecca was at the top.

The Palestinian Authority is the weakest force in the Al-Aqsa plaza. In visiting the site recently, the PA minister of religious affairs was almost lynched.

  4. Garbage, Eurotrash financed and proof-read. Still a grim situation. Even if the poll data came out of somebody’s underpants, it’s taken seriously by the ‘powers that be’ – UN, EU, all the clowns under the tent.

Palestinian Public Opinion Poll No (57) Press Release
    17-19 September 2015
As 80% of the public believe that Palestine is no longer the Primary Arab cause, as the public declines to grant confidence to the PLO and its Executive Committee, and as two thirds of the public believe that the PA is not doing all it can to protect Palestinians against settlers’ terrorism and view it as a burden on the Palestinian people, popularity of president Abbas and Fatah declines and two thirds demand the president’s resignation; indeed a majority supports a return to armed intifad

These are the results of the latest poll conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR) in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip between 17 and 19 September 2015. The period before the poll witnessed the announcement that president Abbas has submitted his resignation from the PLO Executive Committee and called for convening a session for the Palestinian National Council. The session was later postponed by three months.

  5. POLAND – LECH WALESA – ‘If Europe opens its gates to Muslims, there will be beheadings here’

Walesa makes U-turn over Polish asylum for refugees

Earlier this month, Wa?esa said he was even prepared to house refugees under his own roof, but in a newly published interview for The Jerusalem Post, he expressed a markedly different opinion.

“We in Poland have small flats, low salaries and meagre pensions,” he reflected.

“Watching the refugees on television, I noticed that they look better than us.

“They are well fed, well dressed and maybe even are richer than we are.”

He also claimed that “if Europe opens its gates, soon millions will come through and while living among us will start exercising their own customs, including beheading.”

The former leader of Eastern Europe’s first free trade union Solidarity said he himself declined to become a refugee from communist-ruled Poland during the 1980s, and “stayed on to fight for what I believe in.”

While acknowledging that some asylum seekers genuinely fear for their lives, Walesa said that many were actually looking for more favourable economic conditions.

“My advice is that we – mainly the rich nations, like Germany – help them financially to create jobs, for example, in their countries of origin,” he said.

Poland initially pledged in July to take in 2,000 people from Syria and Eritrea.

‘If Europe opens its gates to Muslims, there will be beheadings here’

More than three decades on from the events that shot him to fame, Lech Walesa, the co-founder of Solidarity, is enjoying himself as Poland’s ‘enfant terrible.’

[…]“I do understand them. We Poles also were immigrants and refugees during communism. But wherever we went, we respected the local culture and laws. These immigrants are different. Even second or third generations – look at France, for example – who got good education and made money still turned against the host countries.”

[…]“It’s a problem. If Europe opens its gates, soon millions will come through and while living among us will start exercising their own customs, including beheading.

  6. Muslim teen arrested over homemade clock heads to United Nations

DALLAS (Reuters) – A Texas teenager who became a global sensation after he was arrested for bringing a homemade clock to school that was mistaken for a bomb will be meeting foreign dignitaries at the United Nations this week, a family friend said on Tuesday.

Ahmed Mohamed, 14, a Muslim student who dabbles in robotics and attended a Dallas area high school, touched off a social media firestorm with many seeing his the arrest as being tied to his religion.

He also won support from President Barack Obama who personally invited him to the White House for an astronomy night and Facebook Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg, who said, “having the skill and ambition to build something cool should lead to applause, not arrest.”

Mohamed, a bespectacled ninth grader with a penchant for wearing NASA T-shirts, attended Google’s science fair on Monday at its Mountain View campus in California.

He will be at the United Nations in New York with his family on Wednesday, according to Alia Salem, executive director of the Dallas-Fort Worth chapter of the Council of American-Islamic Relations.

The boy’s social schedule has been draining, his father told the Dallas Morning News, saying his son has not been eating or sleeping well.

The father, Mohamed Elhassan Mohamed, also told the paper his son does not feel comfortable returning to MacArthur High School, where the incident happened, and will withdraw from the school district.

Ahmed Mohamed was accused of making a hoax bomb, handcuffed and questioned. He received a three-day suspension from the high school over the clock he put together to impress his new classmates and teachers.

No charges were filed and police said they would review the decisions officers made in his arrest.

Police did not call out the bomb squad and the school was not evacuated.

  8. Russia Expands Military Presence in Syria, Satellite Photos Show

    http://www.wsj.com/articles/russia-expands-military-its-presence-in-syria-satellite-photos-show-1442937150

WASHINGTON—Russian forces appear to be expanding their military presence in Syria through the development of two additional bases, according to new satellite imagery viewed by The Wall Street Journal.

The expansion near the Mediterranean coast is the latest sign Russia is preparing to inject its military forces into the country’s 4½-year war, creating new challenges for the U.S.-led coalition trying to force President Bashar al-Assad from power and defeat Islamic State militants.

Until recently, the Russian buildup in Syria was largely focused on an air base south of the port city of Latakia. Moscow has shipped more than two dozen combat aircraft to the airfield, where Russian surveillance drones have started flying, according to U.S. defense officials. Russia has also sent tanks, air-defense systems, armored-personnel carriers and enough housing for 2,000 people, officials have said.

Now, satellite images from IHS Jane’s, a defense-intelligence provider, show an additional, previously undisclosed, Russian military expansion.

  9. Report: Muslims Are the Fastest Growing Immigrant Community

    http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/09/22/report-muslim-immigration-fastest-growing-bloc-u-s-immigration/

The report, which analyzes data from American Community Survey (ACS), finds that the foreign-born population in the U.S. hit a new record high 42.4 million in July 2014.

The report details that some of “the sending countries with the largest percentage increases in the number of immigrants living in the United States since 2010 were Saudi Arabia (up 93 percent); Bangladesh (up 37 percent); Iraq (up 36 percent); Egypt (up 25 percent); Pakistan, India, and Ethiopia (all up 24 percent); Nigeria and Ghana (both up 21 percent).”

“In contrast to most sending regions and countries, the number of immigrants from Europe and Canada declined,” the report notes.

  10. Russia Expands Military Presence in Syria, Satellite Photos Show

    http://www.wsj.com/articles/russia-expands-military-its-presence-in-syria-satellite-photos-show-1442937150

WASHINGTON—Russian forces appear to be expanding their military presence in Syria through the development of two additional bases that pose new challenges for the Obama administration as it struggles to avert a clash with Moscow in the Middle East.

Private satellite images released Tuesday revealed new construction at two Syrian military facilities near the Mediterranean coast, the latest sign Russia is preparing to inject its military forces into the country’s 4½-year war.

While U.S. military officials assessed the importance of the projects and overall buildup, the Obama administration is seeking to transform the potential showdown into a fresh diplomatic initiative to push Syrian President Bashar al-Assad—Russia’s longtime ally—from power, senior administration officials said.

Specifically, officials are exploring whether the U.S. could work with Moscow to ease Mr. Assad from power and pave the way for a successor from his Alawite sect, preventing a collapse of the government and a likely takeover by Islamic extremists, a senior administration official said Tuesday.

  11. French far-right leader to face trial for inciting racial hatred

    http://news.yahoo.com/marine-le-pen-face-trial-inciting-racial-hatred-143014002.html

Lyon (AFP) – Marine Le Pen, the leader of France’s far-right National Front, has been ordered to stand trial in October on charges of inciting racial hatred after comparing Muslim street prayers to the Nazi occupation, legal sources said Tuesday.

Le Pen was campaigning to take over leadership of the FN from her father in December 2010 when she made the comparison, complaining that there were “10 to 15” places in France where Muslims worshipped in the streets outside mosques when they were full.

BRUSSELS — With Europe’s refugee crisis escalating, European leaders on Tuesday approved a plan to spread asylum seekers across the continent over the objection of Central European nations.

The plan to distribute 120,000 people across Europe is a first step toward easing the plight of the men, women and children who have been shunted from one European nation to another in recent weeks, a grim procession of human need in one of the richest regions in the world

  13. Ukraine Outraged after Putin Allegedly Drank 240-Year-Old Crimean Wine

    http://www.military.com/daily-news/2015/09/19/ukraine-outraged-after-putin-allegedly-drank-240-year-old-wine.html?ESRC=army_150921.nl

MOSCOW — Ukrainian prosecutors are preparing charges against the director of a winery in Russian-occupied Crimea for allegedly uncorking a 240-year-old bottle for Russian President Vladimir Putin and former Italian premier Silvio Berlusconi.

Putin and his old friend Berlusconi spent last weekend in Crimea, touring ancient ruins and visiting the peninsula’s prized Massandra winery. Massandra was Ukrainian government property before being nationalized by Russia, following its annexation of Crimea in March 2014. It has rare wine and sherry dating back more than 200 years in its collection; one bottle fetched nearly 32,000 British pounds ($49,700) in 2001.

Ukrainian prosecutors responsible for Crimea said on Friday they are preparing to file embezzlement charges against the winery’s director, who they said opened a 1775 bottle for Berlusconi.

  14. BREITBART – FBI Finds Hillary Clinton’s Deleted Emails on Her Server

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has successfully recovered personal and work emails from Hillary Clinton’s private email server, according to a new report.

Sources told Bloomberg News that some of Clinton’s emails have been extracted from the server, thus disproving the claim that Clinton managed to wipe her server clean after she deleted all of her emails earlier this year.

Therefore, some of the emails that Clinton deleted — the ones that she determined were NOT relevant to federal investigations — are now in the hands of the FBI.

The federal investigation, therefore, is now out of Clinton’s control.

Breitbart News has extensively reported that Clinton’s server, which was managed by a handful of companies including Denver-based Platte River Networks before it was turned over to the FBI in August, might have contained data relevant to the investigation.

  15. Austria: Deutsche Bahn suspends trains from Austria and Hungary amid refugee crisis

Thousands of refugees amassed at the Austrian border town of Nickelsdorf, Tuesday, after German rail company Deutsche Bahn announced that it suspended all services to Germany from Austria and Hungary, key routes for refugees attempting to enter into western Europe.

  16. Irving Mayor: Ahmed Mohamed’s Family Blocking Release of Records; Obama Tweeted Support Even Before “Clock” Pic Released

Last night, Irving Texas Mayor Beth Van Duyne revealed that the family of Ahmed Mohammed has repeatedly refused to meet with city officials, refused to released records exonerating police conduct, and that President Obama had tweeted about the case even before pictures of the so-called “clock” were publicly available.

Appearing on Glenn Beck’s The Blaze TV, Van Duyne noted how reporting on the interaction between Mohammed and police had been remarkably one-sided, in part because the Mohammed family refused to release records noting:

“As a juvenile, they can not release those records. The school district, a number of times, has asked the family, to release the records, so that you can have the balanced story out there. The family is ignoring the request from the ISD.”

Van Duyne told Beck it would “help to describe why it progressed as it did” if the records were available. “Nobody is going to walk in and say, ‘oh you’re a 14-year old child, you’re totally cooperating, we have all the answers we need, let’s arrest you,’” Van Duyne added.

A spokesperson for the Irving Police Department has said there have been multiple open records requests for the full police reporting, but that those requests remained in the hands of the city’s legal advisor. The available police report describes the event only as, “…Arrestee being in possession of a hoax bomb at MacArthur High School.”

Van Duyne said that according to the information she had seen, Mohammed had been “non-responsive” and “passive aggressive” in response to questions from police officers.

The refusal to amiably resolve the situation continued as the family rushed to bring Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) representatives into the case, and repeatedly cancelled meetings with the school district and city officials before finally speaking to the media.

“We had tried to reach out to the family a number of times; this was before it ever even hit the papers on Wednesday,” Van Duyne said pointing out that the family repeatedly canceled attempts to discuss the matter.

“At the exact same time they were supposed to be meeting with us, they were on their front lawn with a press conference,“ she said.

Van Duyne also pointed out that President Obama, like many others, had rushed to judgment before the facts in the case had become available.

“We never even got a call from anybody at the White House asking to verify any of that information. I don’t think the picture of the hoax bomb was even released before he tweeted ‘cool clock kid.’” Van Duyne said.

Van Duyne said she was “shocked” when she saw the President’s tweet to Ahmed Mohammed. “It seems to be an underlying habit that [President Obama] is going to second guess police officers without any kind of information.”

Van Duyne said that the Irving police chief, whom she called “a wonderful man”, was receiving death threats as a result of the case, as were other police officers, teachers and school administrators, in response to the controversy.

Van Duyne was joined on the Glenn Beck program by Jim Hanson, a former Special Forces Sergeant and Vice President of the Center for Security Policy, who pointed out CAIR’s documented ties to the Muslim Brotherhood and the terrorist group Hamas, and that the Mohammed family were members of a mosque tied to an Irving Sharia Tribunal which Mayor Van Duyne had publicly opposed.

“I don’t think there’s any question that this latest event was a PR stunt, it was a staged event,” Hanson said, saying the device did look like an explosive. “I’ve built briefcase bombs and blown them up, that’s what they look like,” Hanson pointed out referring to his time with Special Forces.

“They basically took a situation that the police handled properly, the school handled properly and all of a sudden everyone involved is a hater,” Hanson added.

Van Duyne also pointed out that the “teacher was reacting to the device not the student” stressing, “If something had happened, and nobody had spoken up, people would be livid. Can you imagine if you were a parent, at [Irving School District] and no one said anything?”

  17. CHINA – Knife Attack at Xinjiang Coal Mine Leaves 40 Dead, Injured

A knife attack orchestrated by alleged “separatists” at a coal mine in northwestern China’s troubled Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region has resulted in at least 40 casualties, including the deaths of five police officers, and several suspects are believed to be on the run, according to local security officials.

The attack began at around 3:00 a.m. on Sept. 18 when a group of knife-wielding suspects set upon security guards at the Sogan Colliery in Aksu (in Chinese, Akesu) prefecture’s Bay (Baicheng) county, Jamal Eysa, the chief of state security police at a neighboring mine in the county seat told RFA’s Uyghur Service Monday.

“The attack started at security gate of the colliery, which was watched by some 20 security guards at the time,” he said.

“The residence of the colliery owner was the second target and, at the end, [the suspects] attacked police as they approached the area to control the situation.”

Eysa said he received a phone call from the mayor of Bay township later that day ordering him to patrol area streets and prepare for a potential attack against the Bay Colliery where he is stationed, around 20 kilometers (12 miles) away from the Sogan Colliery in Terek township.

An official notice he later received suggested the incident at Sogan was “a long-planned, well-prepared, large-scale attack by separatists against police officers and mine owners at a coal field in our county.”

Colleagues who took part in the operation against the attackers told Eysa the suspects were from “neighboring farms” and that they had “taken control of the dynamite at the colliery.”

“That is why they were able to do such severe damage to our police team and to the Han businessman and factory owners,” he said, without providing details about whether explosives were used by the suspects.

Eysa estimated that “at least 40 people were killed or injured, including police officers, security guards, mine owners and managers, and attackers.” Relatives informed him that his friend Zakirjan, who worked as a security guard at Sogan, was among those killed.

“That day, seven or eight ambulances were constantly driving between the Sogan Colliery and the Bay County Bazaar from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.,” he said.

“Even though four days have passed since the incident, raiding operations are ongoing, so I believe that at least some of the attackers are alive and on the run.”

    Police officers targeted

Zhang Jianjie, a security guard employed by the Bay township government, told RFA authorities were now patrolling the area in force and strictly controlling information about the incident, but said he had received details about the incident from his superior.

“According to my boss, the attackers called the Terek police station to report the incident, and when police officers approached the mine area, the group used trucks filled with coal to ram the police van and then assaulted the injured officers with knives,” Zhang said.

“I know that five of 10 police officers were killed at the scene and the rest of them were transferred to the hospital in Bay county, but I don’t know how many of the attackers were killed or injured,” he said.

“The current situation in Bay county indicates that at least some of the attackers are alive and were able to escape.”

A policeman from the Terek township station, who spoke to RFA on condition of anonymity, also confirmed the incident and said victims of the attack included high-ranking officers from his department.

“I know that our chief, Wu Feng, was killed in the incident and our deputy chief Kurbanjan was injured and taken to a hospital,” he said.

“I have not seen my other three colleagues since they left the station … to go to the coal mining field, and I’ve only been told to wait to hear in the next few days about their fate.”

The policeman said he “didn’t have much knowledge about the incident” and suggested speaking with area residents to get more information.

    Security crackdown

Li Ming, a resident of Bay township, told RFA that when he took his son to school on the day of the incident, he noticed that the campus security detail had moved from the gate onto the street and had increased to 10 guards from two or three normally.

He said that by Monday afternoon, security checkpoints had been established at all intersections throughout town, while armed police squads were patrolling the area in armored personnel carriers, leading him to believe that the “incident was much more severe than I had thought and the suspects have still not been killed or captured.”

Li’s son had been let out of school two hours early on Monday, but the only explanation his teacher gave was that the dismissal was linked to an “incident at the coal mining field.”

While Li could confirm the incident had taken place at “the coal mining field in Terek township,” he said he was unable to provide further details due to a clampdown on information by local authorities.

“I have no right to give you information and I have to record your contact information to give to the county police department,” he said.

“I can only answer your questions if the department notifies me that I may accept your interview.”

    The ‘three evils’

China has vowed to crack down on the “three evils” of terrorism, separatism, and religious extremism in Xinjiang, but experts outside China say Beijing has exaggerated the threat from Uyghur “separatists” and that domestic policies are responsible for an upsurge in violence that has left hundreds dead since 2012.

Uyghur groups in exile say such attacks are likely expressions of resistance to Beijing’s policies in Xinjiang, where Uyghurs complain of pervasive ethnic discrimination, religious repression, and cultural suppression by China’s communist government.

Rights groups accuse the Chinese authorities of heavy-handed rule in Xinjiang, including violent police raids on Uyghur households, restrictions on Islamic practices, and curbs on the culture and language of the Uyghur people.
