Cizre has been sealed off since last Friday after the Turkish army launched an operation against Kurdish militants.

Since then civilian casualties have been reported and there are concerns about a humanitarian crisis.

Earlier the Council of Europe urged Turkey to allow independent observers access to the city.
A statement from the local authorities thanked Cizre residents for their patience during the “successful operation against the terror organisation”…”

Thirty-one gold and four silver bars, worth around $2m (£1.2m), were taken during the raid.
A number of commemorative coins were also taken.

The men were arrested with the stolen items and a large amount of cash in their possession, the interior ministry added.

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/top-anti-isis-envoy-confident-us-defend-refugee/story?id=33687083

“The United States should be wary of the potential for ISIS operatives to infiltrate the flow of refugees into the West, Gen. John Allen, the president’s top envoy on the coalition to defeat ISIS, told ABC News today.

“I think we should watch it. We should be conscious of the potential that Daesh may attempt to embed agents within that population,” Allen said in an interview with Chief Global Affairs Correspondent Martha Raddatz, using another common moniker for the terror group.

But Allen was quick to say that he’s confident in the FBI and Department of Homeland Security’s abilities to defend against such threats. “I have confidence that they’ll work very, very hard to prevent them from getting into the country,” Allen said…”

    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/lawyers-guantanamo-prisoner-hunger-strike-gravely-sick-33688320

“Lawyers for a hunger-striking prisoner at Guantanamo whose weight has dropped to about 74 pounds (34 kilograms) said Friday that his life is in danger and he should be released immediately, challenging a government assessment that the man is in stable condition.

Tariq Ba Odah, a Yemeni held more than 13 years without charge, is at just 56 percent of his ideal body weight and meets criteria for release of “gravely sick or wounded” prisoners under international law, attorneys said in a filing to a federal court in Washington.

His lawyers, from the New York-based Center for Constitutional Rights, submitted reports from three medical experts expressing alarm at his continued weight loss despite the fact that he is force-fed liquid nutrients on the U.S. base at Guantanamo, Cuba.

“Mr. Ba Odah is gravely and chronically ill from malnutrition, which will continue to proceed on a dangerous course, if acute injury or sickness does not overwhelm him first,” lead attorneys Omar Farah and Baher Azmy wrote…”

“… The European Union will assess the economic costs of the refugee crisis to see whether the nations caught up in it need more lenient budget rules.

Luxembourg Finance Minister Pierre Gramegna said Friday the EU’s executive Commission will “analyze whether the refugee crisis can be considered an extraordinary circumstance” under rules the bloc has to ensure sound public finances.

Gramegna also said the European Investment Bank also stands ready to quickly help countries, regions and cities that need financial help to deal with the arrival of migrants.

Greece, Italy and Hungary are among the EU nations hardest hit by the arrival of tens of thousands of migrants this year…”

Air to air refuelling (AAR) support was provided by an RAF Voyager aircraft from RAF Brize Norton.

  9. ISIS militants causing Middle East to ‘DISINTEGRATE’, says Israel PM Netanyahu

    http://www.express.co.uk/news/world/604331/Islamic-State-ISIS-Israel-Benjamin-Netanyahu-Middle-East

Arriving in Downing Street for talks with Prime Minister David Cameron, Mr Netanyahu stated his belief that Israel and Britain can work together to “roll back the tide of militant Islam both in the Middle East and in Africa.”

Discussions are set to be dominated by the question of how to combat the rise of the Islamic State, or ISIS, in Syria as well as the nuclear deal recently agreed between the UK, its Western allies and Iran.

Mr Netanyahu, who is a bitter critic of the nuclear agreement, told Mr Cameron: “The Middle East is disintegrating under the twin forces of militant Islam – militant Sunnis led by ISIS and militant Shi-ites led by Iran.”

  10. Far-right Golden Dawn exploits darker side of Greece’s discontent

    http://news.yahoo.com/far-golden-dawn-exploits-darker-side-greeces-discontent-172607131.html

THERMOPYLAE, Greece (Reuters) – Flaming torches raised, far-right Golden Dawn supporters dressed in black chanted the Greek national anthem as darkness fell on Thermopylae, where King Leonidas and 300 Spartans defied a vast Persian army in 480 BC.

Standing before them, a member of the European Parliament from Golden Dawn, the euro zone’s most extreme right-wing political party, roused the crowd with defiant denunciations of enemies at home and abroad ahead of a national election on Sept. 20.

“The message of Leonidas – Molon Labe (Come and get it) – is as timely today as ever for everything tormenting Greece,” the retired lieutenant general, Eleftherios Synadinos, told supporters waving flags bearing the party’s Swastika-like emblem.

“We’re not like everyone else with heads bowed down. We’re upright, we’re standing and the message will be delivered on Sept. 20 … We must not surrender arms. We must not back down,” he said, to which the crowd roared: “People! Army! Nationalism!”

Footage secretly filmed by France 2 TV shows Francoise Olcay selling dinghies and life jackets to migrants hoping to reach the Greek islands.

The body of three-year-old Alan Kurdi was washed up at Bodrum last week.

Ms Olcay said the items would be bought elsewhere if she did not sell them.

Admitting that she was taking part in the trade, she alleged that local Turkish authorities were also involved…”

  13. The Unlearned Lessons of 9/11
If experience is the teacher of fools, class is still in session.

    http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/260043/unlearned-lessons-911-bruce-thornton

The terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001 should have been a rude awakening from the dogmatic slumbers of the previous decade. Instead, after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, the West went on a vacation from history. The seeming triumph of liberal democracy and free-market capitalism convinced many that all we had left to do was to oversee the inevitable triumph of the Western paradigm throughout the world. Unfortunately, the “world,” especially the Islamic ummah, had other plans, ones that our own bad ideas and cultural dogmas have advanced.

Most broadly, the centuries-long belief that all peoples everywhere are embryonic Westerners should have been shattered by the slaughter in Manhattan and at the Pentagon. The attacks were a horrifically graphic reminder that our core ideals––human rights, sex equality, tolerance of difference, peaceful coexistence, personal and political freedom, material prosperity, the separation of church and state, free speech, and consensual government founded on law––were historical anomalies rather than the destiny of all humanity.

The 19 murderers were acting on a radically different set of ideals and principles––the doctrines of Islam that had destroyed the mighty Byzantine and Persian Empires, and that had invaded, plundered, and occupied southern Europe for 1000 years. We should have learned that nearly a quarter of the world’s people still take seriously what we have reduced to a life-style choice––faith in a transcendent power for whose commands the believer will kill and die, and whose spiritual imperatives trump freedom, human rights, and all the other goods we desire.

  14. Counterterrorism Chair: Obama’s 10,000 “Refugees” Put American Lives at Risk
“We do not want another Boston Marathon Bombing

    http://www.frontpagemag.com/point/260098/counterterrorism-chair-obamas-10000-refugees-put-daniel-greenfield

Congressman Peter King, a member of the Homeland Security Committee and Chairman of the Sub-Committee on Counterterrorism and Intelligence, is warning that Obama’s decision to bring in 10,000 Syrian migrants to America is putting Americans at risk.

“Today’s announcement by the White House that the US will admit at least 10,000 Syrian refugees next year will put American lives at risk. The decision is in direct contrast to the opinions of leading law enforcement and intelligence officials in this administration. We do not have the capability to vet these individuals nor will we be able to develop it in the next twelve months. The Administration is moving forward full speed ahead without the necessary security backbone in place. It is vital that we measure our humanitarian beliefs against the security decision of bringing more than 10,000 unknown individuals into the Homeland. I oppose this decision. We do not want another Boston Marathon Bombing.”

The State Department and its media allies are making misleading claims about the Syrian refugees getting the best vetting by conflating processing delays, which are extensive, with actual vetting. The biometric stuff might be useful for their future attacks, but it’s not going to tell us which of them are members of Islamic terrorist groups and militias.

  15. Germany Busts ISIS Terrorist/Syrian Refugee
How many of them will be ISIS? You’ve got to let them in to find out.

    http://www.frontpagemag.com/point/260094/germany-busts-isis-terroristsyrian-refugee-daniel-greenfield

That’s one. Now let’s see if you can get all the others among that 800,000 you decided to take in.

An ISIS terrorist posing as an “asylum seeker” has been arrested by German police in a “refugee” center in Stuttgart, and German customs officers have seized boxes containing Syrian passports being smuggled into Europe.

According to a report carried by RTL’s German language service, the terrorist is a 21-year-old Moroccan using a “false identity” who had registered as an asylum seeker in the district of Ludwigsburg. He was identified after police linked him to a European arrest warrant issued by the Spanish authorities. He is accused of recruiting fighters for ISIS, where he acted as a contact person for fighters who wanted to travel to Syria or Iraq.

This is the 10,000 to 15,000 score of the problem that Obama decided to import. How many of them will be ISIS? You’ve got to let them in to find out.

ISIS has threatened to invade Europe using refugees. Maybe it’s time to take them at their word?

  16. How Obama’s Nuke Deal Leads to the Next Iraq War
Obama’s original Iraq treason led to his Iran treason today

    http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/260070/how-obamas-nuke-deal-leads-next-iraq-war-daniel-greenfield

In his sales pitch for the nuclear deal with Iran that even he admitted gives the terrorist regime a near zero breakout time to the bomb, Obama pulled out every conceivable stop. He even accused opponents of trying to get the country into a war with Iran just as they had “brought the country” into the Iraq War.

But Obama was responsible for the rise of ISIS and his deal with Iran sets the stage for the next Iraq War. His original Iraq treason led to his Iran treason today.

To understand why that is, it’s important to realize how we got here.

Obama campaigned on a rapid withdrawal from Iraq. As with so much else, he lied. But his plan for a rapid withdrawal did win an endorsement from one key ally. Iraqi Prime Minister Maliki backed Obama’s push for a swift withdrawal, stating that American soldiers should leave “as soon as possible.”

  18. BREAKING: Iran Reports Repeated Sabotage Attempts Against Its Nuclear Facilities

Iranian and Lebanese media reported today that the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has revealed that there have been two attempts recently to sabotage nuclear facilities in Iran.

Asqar Zarea’an, the deputy head of the AEOI, reported last week that unnamed ‘enemies’ carried out sabotage acts at the Fordow underground uranium enrichment plant. He claimed that the swift reaction of Iranian security forces foiled the attempt.

  19. Afghan Taliban 9/11 Statement: Victory Over U.S. ‘Occupiers’ Imminent (nbcnews, Sep 11, 2015)
    http://www.nbcnews.com/news/world/afghan-taliban-9-11-statement-victory-over-u-s-occupiers-n425631

“KABUL — The Afghan Taliban marked the 14th anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks on the United States with a statement claiming their victory over American “occupiers” was imminent.

American troops — due to withdraw from the country completely in 2016 — will leave the country “ashamed and humiliated,” read the statement, sent to reporters on Friday. The Taliban intensified its attacks after the U.S. formally ended its combat mission at the end of 2014, and has captured territory across the country.

“History has proven that we are a free nation and have never accepted subjugation and submission to foreigners,” according to the statement issued by a faction led by Mullah Akhtar Mohammad Mansoor, who was unveiled as leader in July. “Soon we will defeat the American led occupiers,” it said.

The jihad, or holy war, was supported by “all” Afghans, which gave the group “strength to continue on the right oath of freedom and is a continuation of the path chosen by our forefathers who defeated British and Soviet occupiers,” the statement added, referring to past Afghan military victories.

The statement did not address the fact that it was a U.S.-led international coalition, along with local forces, that toppled the Taliban which had sheltered Osama bin Laden as he plotted the 9/11 attacks. Before the invasion, U.S. officials repeatedly called on the Taliban to turn him over but were refused.

“Fourteen years ago the American invaders launched illegal attacks on our country under the pretext of the Sept. 11 incident to invade our Islamic country and threatening the region,” the statement added.”

  20. First Anti-EU Referendum Being Forced by Dutch Citizens

    http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/6485/anti-eu-referendum

Above all, Dutch citizens seem affronted that they were never consulted by their elected officials, who never even mentioned the EU-Ukraine treaty during the 2012 national elections.

“Of course there will be transfers of sovereignty. But would I be intelligent to draw the attention of public opinion to this fact?” — Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission.

A referendum in the Netherlands would create the precedent of even having EU referenda by “mere” citizens. The process could easily be replicated for future referenda.

The European Union, the supranational governmental body that seeks an ever-increasing political and economic unity of the European continent, has for years been struggling with dwindling popularity among its member-state citizens.

The main objections of its member-state citizens seem to be focused on the lack of actual democracy and transparency inside the European Union. And it is not exactly as if key EU figures are going out of their way to prove them wrong.
