  1. Mohammed Was a Pig

    D. Greenfield

Israeli police arrested a fourth person for calling Mohammed a pig. Avia Morris, the first person arrested described being taunted with cries of “Allahu Akbar” and “Kill the Jews” along with signs of support for ISIS. But it only became a legal matter when the twenty-year-old woman retorted, “Mohammed is a pig.”

Calling for the death of infidels isn’t a crime. Insulting Mohammed is.

Avia got off lucky. When a young woman named Tatiana Soskin drew Mohammed as a pig scrawling in a Koran, the Clinton administration was more outraged by this than by the World Trade Center bombing.

[…]By any civilized standard, Mohammed was a pig and worse. And yet instead of calling out those who praise a rapist and a pedophile, we lock up the young women who dare call out his piggishness. There is no reason to be surprised that these piggish habits should also be a way of life for his followers.

[…]What is happening in the Islamic State is only a more open version of what is already taking place in the West. Slavery has returned to America, not under the Confederate flag, but under the Saudi flag. The Muslim sex grooming in the UK does not come with its own flag, but with the Koran.

[…]Mohammed was a pig. We can and should say it. As many times as it takes. He is not a role model. He is not a prophet. It’s not the women who call him a pig who are sick and evil.

It’s those who imitate and defend his sick and evil ways.

Telling the truth about Mohammed is more than a statement. It’s not a mere provocation. It saves lives.

  2. Father of French train attacker says he was a ‘good boy

Mohamed El Khazzani, a father of five who works recycling materials, said his son may have been affected by a French telecommunications company that brought him to France to work on a six-month contract that was terminated early.

So now he’s in France, not Spain. What is he meant to do? What is he supposed to eat?” the senior Khazzani said.

“They’re criminals in that company, using people like that.”

  3. More signs point to terrorist links to train gunman

The Spanish newspaper El Mundo? reported that he had moved from Madrid and until 2014 had lived in Algeciras?, Spain, and that his mother attended what is considered the most radical mosque in that city.

Spanish police believe that between May 2014 and May 2015 he travelled to Syria, and they passed a file on him to French police in 2014 when he left Spain for France. French police said in a statement that El Khazzani? was included on their “S” list of about 5000 people believed to have terrorist connections.

  4. Pakistan Rescues Chinese Tourist Held by the Taliban (abcnews, Aug 24, 2015)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/pakistan-rescues-chinese-tourist-held-taliban-33277001

“A Chinese tourist held hostage for more than a year by the Taliban in Pakistan has been freed by the country’s security forces and intelligence agencies, authorities said.

China’s state-run Xinhua News Agency identified the hostage as Hong Xudong, who was abducted in May 2014 near the northwestern Pakistani city of Dera Ismail Khan. Hong, who is from central China’s Hubei province, had entered the country from India and had been travelling around Pakistan by bicycle.

Pakistani Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan announced the rescue of a Chinese hostage late Sunday night, without naming Hong. Xinhua, citing a statement from the Chinese Embassy in Islamabad, said Hong was rescued Saturday and handed over to their diplomats on Sunday, without elaborating.

“Our intelligence agencies are proud of rescuing the captive,” Khan said. “Chinese authorities, whenever we meet, would always ask about the captive. Thank God now we have him.”

The kidnapping was claimed by a splinter group of the Pakistani Taliban. A video released in May showed a man identified as Hong asking the Chinese government to honor his kidnappers’ unspecified ransom demands…”

    • Sorry about the two topics one post.

The situtation in Korea is worsening and the reporter is betraying lack of knowledge of that region and the politics over there, China is massing troops on their border with Korea. This is not to try and force Kim to back down but is a move to tell the South to shut up and take anything the North does or fight both the north and China. The problem is that the North is moving so hard and doing so much damage the South is being forced into a position where they have no choice but to fight.

If war breaks out the original UN mandate for all UN members to send troops and equipment to fight for the South is still in force and all members of the UN are required by international law to help the South. Which in this case can include fighting China.

The reason there is a UN mandate in place is that the USSR was boycotting the UN for some reason when the attack occurred and the US and Britain moved a decision through the UN to get the UN to in effect declare war on the North. Since there was no peace treaty between the North and the South just a cease fire a state of war between the North and the UN still exists. The big question is if fighting starts how many nations will come to the aid of the South? The last time all most all of the NATO nations sent troops and aid, not just the US but Britain and the commonwealth also, along with Holland.

The timing is suspicious but at this time there doesn’t appear to be any other connection. The timing is also suspicious about the explosions in China and the violence elsewhere, the simplest answer is that the timing is caused by separate groups taking advantage of the chaos by other violence to make their attacks.

    • Revealed: The mystery man who tackled AK-47 assault rifle from train gunman

Traveller who intervened to disarm gunman Ayoub El-Khazzani is an Franco-American academic named Mark Moogalian

[…]Francois Hollande, the French President, has announced he will award Mr Moogalian the Legion d’Honneur, the country’s highest decoration, as soon as he is well enough.

Mr Moogalian, who lives in Paris but is originally from Midlothian, Virginia, US, is the previously unnamed man who came to the aid of “Damien A”, 28, a French banker who confronted El-Khazzani.

The academic acted instinctively to protect his wife Isabella Risacher, who was also aboard the Thalys train.

He tackled the Kalashnikov assault rifle off El-Khazzani, who then drew a sidearm and shot him in the neck before taking back the rifle, his sister has revealed.

  7. Merkel condemns ‘disgusting’ message of hate toward refugees

Chancellor Angela Merkel condemned on Monday violent protests against refugees that erupted over the weekend in eastern Germany, blaming them on far-right extremists who were bent on spreading a “disgusting” message of hatred.

More than 30 police were injured in clashes in the town of Heidenau near Dresden in early Saturday morning, after a mob of several hundred people, many of them drunk, began pelting officers with bottles and fireworks. Some of them shouted “Heil Hitler”.

Germany, which expects the number of asylum seekers to quadruple to about 800,000 this year, has witnessed dozens of arson attacks on asylum shelters in recent months. But the violence in Heidenau, which continued on Saturday and Sunday nights, was unprecedented.

Sigmar Gabriel, vice chancellor and economy minister, traveled to the town of 16,000 on Monday, meeting with the mayor and speaking with local residents.

“There are a lot of people that worry their lives will change because of the refugees, that living here will become less secure,” Gabriel said.

“But it must be clear that we don’t give a single millimeter to these far-right mobs,” he added. “These are people that have nothing to do with Germany. This is not the Germany we want.”

Merkel, through her spokesman Steffen Seibert, said it was disgusting how right-wing extremists and neo-Nazis had tried to spread their message of hate near a shelter in Heidenau, where some 250 refugees arrived late on Friday.

“The chancellor and the whole government condemn in the strongest manner possible the violence and the aggressive atmosphere toward foreigners there,” Seibert said.

On its website, Heidenau describes itself as “the friendly town on the river Elbe”. A public relations video on Youtube shows an idyllic, family-oriented town, with children singing in a field of flowers and splashing each other with water from a fountain.

But Heidenau is located in an electoral district where the far-right National Democratic Party (NPD) won 8.7 percent of the vote in a state election last year. It was the third-highest NPD score in all of Saxony, an eastern state of 4 million that shares a border with Poland and the Czech Republic.

Mayor Juergen Opitz, a member of Merkel’s conservative Christian Democratic Union (CDU), described the protesters as an “unholy alliance” of far-right elements from Heidenau and “Nazi tourists” who traveled from other parts of Saxony to cause trouble wherever asylum centers were set up.

Many of the refugees arriving in Germany are fleeing violence in countries like Syria, Iraq and Eritrea, but over a third are from southeastern European countries like Albania and Serbia.

    • Angela Merkel :
“As we have seen disturbing pictures from Heidenau in Sachsen, I want to repeat that I condemn the violent riots there. The atmosphere there was aggressive and xenophobic, which is not in the least acceptable. It is disgusting how right-wing extremists and neo-nazis try to spread dull messages of hate. But it is as shameful to see citizens, even families with children among them, support these things. Therefore I can only repeat that Germany is a country, which respects the dignity of every human – this is in our constitution and applies for everyone residing in our country.”

      Francois Hollande :
Today we have an extraordinary situation. An extraordinary situation that will last as long as the conflicts are not resolved. Therefore we should not wait day by day. We need to organise ourselves and coordinate our politics. That’s what Germany and France are proposing.”

  8. AUSTRALIA – ( the guardian ) Islamic Council of Queensland condemns insulting video of mosques

The video tour made by a far-right group has been condemned by the Islamic Council of Queensland, which says local Muslims are being terrorised

The Islamic Council of Queensland has condemned a contemptuous video tour of Brisbane mosques by a far-right group as the latest incident in a “concentrated campaign” of harassment that was “terrorising” Muslims.

Council spokesman Ali Kadri said the video, posted online by the Australian Defence League on Monday, had fanned fears among congregations already uneasy about hate mail and the presence of unknown people in mosque carparks for hours at night.

One mosque featured in the shambolic and error-riddled video recently lodged a complaint with Queensland police after the presence of one such car caused a “huge scare” during Ramadan, Kadri said.

Inspired by far-right English street protest group the English Defence League, the ADL last year was accused of sending a letter that included a death threat to Australia’s leading Islamic cleric and a threat to bomb Sydney’s Lakemba mosque. The group has been active in the Reclaim Australia movement.

In the video, an ADL member calling himself Chris labels the Holland Park mosque an eyesore, saying it is pretty sad it is located next to “a memorial park where soldiers have been laid to rest”.

In fact the 108-year-old mosque originally owned the plot that is now Mount Thompson memorial park, and sold it to a Brisbane crematorium.

In the video, “Chris” falsely suggests that Isis jihadist Khaled Sharrouf, a Sydney man, was a product of south Brisbane mosques.

“Some of these mosques have generated jihadis that have gone overseas and fought,” he says. “I think you know the famous one with his kids holding the heads.”

He announces at the outset of the video, which is intended to rally opponents to a proposed mosque in Bendigo, that it will feature five of seven mosques on Brisbane’s southside. He later says there are 10.

“Why the fuck do these guys need 10 mosques on the south side of Brisbane within 20km of each other?” he says.

He gestures to a mosque at Darra and says: “That’s what the ADL’s against. This fucking shit over here getting built all the time and the government does nothing about it.”

He refers to another mosque under construction at Algester as a “fucking monstrosity”, urging people to “head down here and have a look”.

“The ADL’s had a gutful of these guys,” he says. “We want to ban everything. We don’t want them here. Ban the burqa. Get rid of it all. It’s fucking disgusting.”

Kadri said he believed the ADL was a dangerous group, despite police suggesting they saw no “major threat coming out of this”.

“These people are running a concentrated campaign and they want a reaction from us, that’s what they want,” he said. “To be honest, this whole thing is not taken seriously by police it seems. But it is terrorising the Muslim community.”

Comment has been sought from Queensland police.

  10. UN expects Iran nuke deal monitoring to cost $10.5M a year

VIENNA: A confidential document from the U.N.’s atomic agency says the extra work related to monitoring Iran’s compliance with last month’s nuclear deal will cost about 9.2 million euros ($10.5 million) each year.

The International Atomic Energy Agency document obtained by The Associated Press also estimates the final tab will be nearly 138 million euros ($157 million) over the life of the pact.

Drawn up for a special IAEA meeting Tuesday, the document says the costs are calculated from the time the deal begins to be implemented, at some point after it is adopted on Oct 18.

The document extrapolates the total cost by saying the estimated annual cost of 9.2 million euros is “foreseen as being applicable for 15 years.” That is the expected duration of the Iran deal.

  11. UN council holds first-ever meeting on LGBT rights

UN Security Council members on Monday opened their first-ever meeting on LGBT rights to hear Syrian and Iraqi gays tell of terror under Islamic State rule.

“It’s historic,” US Ambassador Samantha Power told reporters ahead of the meeting.

“It’s about time — 70 years after the creation of the UN — that the fate of LGBT persons who fear for their lives around the world is taking center stage.”

UN envoys were to hear accounts from Adnan, an Iraqi who fled northern Iraq after being targeted as gay and from a Syrian, Subhi Nahas, who escaped persecution and now works for a refugee organization in the United States.

Since July 2014, the Islamic State group has released at least seven videos or photos online that show the brutal executions of people accused of “sodomy,” according to the International Gay and Lesbian Rights Commission.

Jessica Stern, the director of the commission, was also to address the meeting, hosted by the delegations from the United States and Chile.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported last month that IS fighters dropped two men from a building in the city of Palmyra and then stoned them to death.

In December, IS propagandists posted photographs showing jihadists throwing a man off a rooftop and then stoning him to death because he was gay.

Two men were stoned to death in Syria in November after declaring that they were gay.

The meeting was open to all United Nations member states interested in the plight of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people but it remained unclear how many countries with anti-gay laws would attend.

The United States is leading an international coalition that has vowed to defeat the Islamic State group, which declared a caliphate in June 2014 after seizing the Iraqi city of Mosul.

The jihadist group now controls large swathes of territory in Iraq and Syria, and has gained a foothold in Libya, Yemen, Egypt and elsewhere in the Middle East.

  14. Carbon credits undercut climate change actions says report (BBC, Aug 24, 2015)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/science-environment-34042115

“The vast majority of carbon credits generated by Russia and Ukraine did not represent cuts in emissions, according to a new study. The authors say that offsets created under a UN scheme “significantly undermined” efforts to tackle climate change. The credits may have increased emissions by 600 million tonnes.

In some projects, chemicals known to warm the climate were created and then destroyed to claim cash. As a result of political horse trading at UN negotiations on climate change, countries like Russia and the Ukraine were allowed to create carbon credits from activities like curbing coal waste fires, or restricting gas emissions from petroleum production.

Under the UN scheme, called Joint Implementation, they then were able to see those credits to the European Union’s carbon market. Companies bought the offsets rather than making their own more expensive, emissions cuts.

But this study, from the Stockholm Environment Institute, says the vast majority of Russian and Ukrainian credits were in fact, “hot air” – no actual emissions were reduced….”

  15. Amnesty Report Finds Saudi Arabia Executed 175 in Past Year (abcnews, Aug 24, 2015)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/amnesty-report-finds-saudi-arabia-executed-175-past-33292973

“Saudi Arabia has executed at least 175 people over the past 12 months, on average one person every two days, according to a report released Tuesday by Amnesty International.

The 43-page report titled “Killing In the Name of Justice: The Death Penalty in Saudi Arabia” said that between January 1985 and June 2015, at least 2,208 people were executed in the kingdom. An Associated Press tally based on official announcements shows that Saudi Arabia executed 109 people since January, compared to 83 in all of 2014.

The kingdom follows a strict interpretation of Islamic law and applies the death penalty to a number of crimes including murder, rape and drug smuggling. Though not as common, Saudi Courts allow for people to be executed for adultery, apostasy and witchcraft.

People can also be executed for crimes committed when they were below 18 years of age.

“Saudi Arabia’s faulty justice system facilitates judicial executions on a mass scale,” Said Boumedouha, acting director of Amnesty’s Middle East and North Africa program, said in a statement….”

All but one of the city’s hospitals were closed, so there was a shortage of medical care for the wounded, he added.

The Saudi-led coalition backing pro-government forces meanwhile continued to bomb rebel positions in Taiz.
