  1. Isis claims beheading of Croatian hostage Tomislav Salopek

The Sinai Province of the Islamic State (Isis) has claimed to have beheaded a Croatian hostage in Egypt.

The terrorist group posted a picture of dead hostage Tomislav Salopek, with his head cut off on top of his back, according to SITE Intelligence Group. The employee of geoscience company CGG was abducted on 22 July. A caption on the image said Salopek was killed “for his country’s participation in the war against the Islamic State”.

A video released by IS-linked Twitter accounts showed the 30-year-old Croatian wearing a yellow jumpsuit and kneeling beside a masked militant.

In it, the militant makes a threat saying Salopek will be executed if the Egyptian government does not release “Muslim women arrested in Egyptian prisons”. It is unclear which hostages are being referred to.

Isis ‘executes’ Croatian hostage Tomislav Salopek in Egypt after demands deadline passes

The Isis militant group has released a photo purporting to show the execution of the Croatian hostage Tomislav Salopek.

The group previously published a video identifying the man as a 30-year-old who was captured outside Cairo on the 22 July.

Last month, Croatia’s Foreign Ministry had said that one of its nationals, with the same initials as as Salopek, had been kidnapped in Cairo on their way to work.

An image, circulated by Isis-affiliated social media accounts, appeared to show Salopek’s decapitated body.

Mr Salopek said he worked for CGG Ardiseis, a French oil and gas company, that has an office in a Cairo suburb that is home to many expats.

  2. Anti-Islam Politician Geert Wilders’ Visit Draws Heavy Police Presence in Mountain View

A heavy police presence in Mountain View Tuesday blocked roads for a controversial foreign dignitary.

Police late Tuesday guided drivers around the IFES Portuguese Hall, where Dutch politician Geert Wilders spoke to the Conservative Forum of Silicon Valley. Wilders is widely known for his criticism of Islam, and has repeatedly called for the Quran to be banned in the Netherlands.

Wilders is often heavily guarded by private guards, but Mountain View Police were on hand for Tuesday’s event. This comes after two gunman fired shots outside an event in Texas earlier this year, where a contest was held to draw the prophet Muhammad. Wilders was a speaker at that event.

At Tuesday’s event, attendees say Wilders spoke about “why the west should stop the spread of Islamic political and cultural influence.”

“I thought it was an amazing speech, I think he’s a tremendously brave man, and saying what’s very plain it’s all right in front of our eyes,” San Jose-resident Jane Kearney said.

Wilders left in a heavily guarded small caravan of SUVs. A Mountain View Police spokesperson said their presence was similar to events for other dignitaries or political candidates, and staffing was shifted to offset costs.

Christian Perez lives near the hall, and said the road closure was an inconvenience. He was also unsure of the event’s speaker.

“I think it’s great we can actually have forums and discuss topics like this safely, but I don’t necessary have to agree with the opinions held,” he said.

  3. Russia and Nato ‘actively preparing for war’

    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/europe/russia/11797351/Russia-and-Nato-actively-preparing-for-war.html

The ;problem is that NATO no longer has a military large enough to be a credible threat to Russia, Putin knows that with the mess in the Middle East and the Growing crisis in the Far East he is just one of three problems the US faces and we will be hard pressed to handle one of the threats let along all three at once. Once again the left has gotten the world into a major war by disarming the freedom lovers with the stated aim of preventing a war.

  6. New video: Planned Parenthood would ‘steal’ aborted baby parts without mom’s consent

FRESNO, CA, August 12, 2015 (LifeSiteNews) – Despite official denials, Planned Parenthood would regularly “steal” aborted babies’ organs without asking the mother’s consent for the “donation,” a former StemExpress employee says in the latest video released by the Center for Medical Progress.

Holly O’Donnell, a former blood and tissue procurement technician for StemExpress, is featured in the latest video in CMP’s “Human Capital” series.

StemExpress is a biotech company that would purchase the tissue and organs of aborted babies from Planned Parenthood.

Since the video series broke, Planned Parenthood officials have said that they always obtain the mother’s consent – a legal requirement – before charging biotech companies “reimbursement costs” for storing the “organ and tissue donation.”

But O’Donnell, a former technician who worked inside the Stockton and Fresno Planned Parenthood facilities, said if Planned Parenthood stood to make money, they would simply take the specimens they wanted.

“No, doesn’t happen all the time,” O’Donnell said. “They would not consent the donors” in every case.

“They give you a sheet, and it’s everybody for that day, who’s coming in for an ultrasound, who’s coming in for an abortion, medical or a late-term abortion,” O’Donnell explains.

Even patients who scheduled a pregnancy test were considered potential “donors,” she said. “Pregnancy tests are potential pregnancies, [and] therefore potential specimens.”

Her bosses looked at this as “just taking advantage of the opportunities.”

They often told her obtaining aborted babies’ tissue and body parts is “not an option; it’s a demand.”

“If there was a higher gestation, and the technicians needed it, there were times when they would just take what they wanted. And these mothers don’t know. And there’s no way they would know.”

In one case, O’Donnell said she spoke with a patient who refused to consent – but her co-worker emerged with numerous samples after the patient’s abortion.

“What did you say to her to get that blood?” O’Donnell asked her co-worker. “She said, ‘Nothing.'”

“Basically, you just went in there and took her blood, and you’re going to be taking her fetus without her knowing,” O’Donnell said.

She said she felt tremendous empathy for the mothers who lost children in this way. “Imagine if you’re an abortion patient, and someone was going in stealing your baby’s parts,” she said in the video, the sixth released by CMP following its 30-month investigation.

She disputed Planned Parenthood’s image as a compassionate health care provider, embodied in their slogan: “Care No Matter What.”

“The women I worked for were cold. They don’t care. They just wanted their money. They don’t care that a girl’s throwing up in a trash can,” O’Donnell said in the video.

“I’m not going to tell a girl to kill her baby so I can get money, and that’s what this company does,” she said. “I would tell them, ‘Run.'”

O’Donnell also revealed other abuses inside the Planned Parenthood facility.

She said she was the only certified technician, but others drew blood samples.

The abortionist, Dr. Ron Berman, “had a reputation for going viciously fast. … It’s almost like he wanted to do it.”

The atmosphere inside the abortion facilities frightened her, she said. “It’s morbid,” she said. “You can hear screaming. You can hear crying. … It’s terrifying.”

“Experiences like Holly O’Donnell’s show that Planned Parenthood’s abortion and baby parts business is not a safe place where vulnerable women can be cared for, but a harvesting ground for saleable human ‘product,’” said CMP’s Project Lead David Daleiden. “Taxpayer subsidies to Planned Parenthood’s barbaric abortion business should be revoked immediately, and law enforcement and other elected officials must act decisively to determine the full extent of Planned Parenthood’s offensive practices and hold them accountable to the law.”

    • This qualifies as giving aid and comfort to the enemy during time of conflict, I am using this law rather then treason because this isn’t a declared war which means treason can’t be charged. Aid and comfort carry’s the same penalty and is easier to prove.

  7. Compromised
John Kerry has much to hide on his ties to Iran.

    http://www.frontpagemag.com/fpm/259752/compromised-kenneth-r-timmerman

Mr. Kerry took illegal campaign cash from an Iranian national who, while claiming to be a political refugee, assaulted anti-regime protesters in Los Angeles, promoted U.S. computer and software investment in Iran in violation of U.S. sanctions, and boasted of influencing U.S. politicians with a pro-Tehran agenda. Taking that illicit cash tainted Mr. Kerry and identified him a “soft target” to agents of the Iranian regime.
Mr. Kerry carried through his side of the bargain, embracing the pro-Tehran agenda during his 2004 presidential campaign, while his Iranian backers kicked in substantial fresh cash to his campaign.
Mr. Kerry met Zarif at a private reception hosted by George Soros in New York in 2005, shortly after Soros’s Open Society Institute hosted Zarif at a policy luncheon for New York media elites.
Mr. Kerry sought to travel to Tehran to jumpstart diplomatic negotiations in December 2009, but was rebuffed by Tehran.

  10. ITALY – Venice court rejects fast-track request to re-open Biennale “mosque” by Christoph Büchel

Icelandic Pavilion commissioner says the legal process will take too long

A court in Venice has refused to fast-track a legal claim filed by the Icelandic Art Center (IAC) seeking the reopening of artist Christoph Büchel’s mosque, which launched earlier this year in a disused church in Venice as part of the Biennale.

The IAC is the commissioner of the controversial project, which was housed in the former Catholic church of Santa Maria della Misericordia in the Cannaregio neighbourhood. The mosque closed at the end of May after only two weeks when city officials claimed that it breached health and safety regulations.

The Padua-based lawyer Marco Ferrero lodged the claim with the supervisory court for the Veneto Region on behalf of the Icelandic Art Center in early July. The IAC asked for €360,000 in compensation from the city of Venice for the closure of the mosque, as well as an unspecified sum for “damages”.

On 29 July, Ferrero requested that the case be fast-tracked; the court subsequently rejected this on 31 July. “Because the standard procedure for an appeal can take many months….it is clear that the court will not rule until after the Biennale (until 22 November),” the IAC says in a statement.

“Continuing our appeal would therefore only address the matter of possible compensation for damages due in relation to the shutting down of the pavilion and would not be useful in helping us achieve our primary goal: re-opening the mosque project for the remainder of the Biennale,” the statement adds.

The IAC says it will “seek possible alternative ways” to keep the mosque project accessible though it is unclear what this approach will be. Officials at Venice city council could not be reached for comment.

  11. Pakistan MQM party quits parliament ‘over crackdown’ (BBC, Aug 12, 2015)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-33883959

“Lawmakers from Pakistan’s fourth-largest party, the opposition Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM), have resigned from both chambers of parliament.

An MQM leader, Farooq Sattar, said the move was in protest over an army-led crackdown allegedly targeting the party’s supporters in Karachi.

The authorities say the action has improved security and is not politically motivated.

The MQM has long denied charges of using violence to control Karachi.

Though currently in opposition, the party has joined governing coalitions at various points in its 30-year history.

The resignation decision applied to the party’s 24 MPs in the lower house of parliament, its eight senators in the upper house, as well as its 51 members in the Sindh provincial assembly.

The resignations will create a significant vacuum in parliament, if and when they are accepted, says the BBC Shahzeb Jillani in Karachi.

He says this could lead to a major by-election, which the government of PM Nawaz Sharif is keen to avoid….”

  12. Sweden Ikea knife attack: Security boosted at refugee centres (BBC, Aug 12, 2015)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-33880348

“Police in central Sweden have increased security at refugee accommodation centres after two Eritrean asylum seekers were arrested on suspicion of murdering two people at an Ikea store.

Local officials feared a backlash from “dark forces” who wanted to exploit the case, police chief Per Agren said.

A mother and son died in the knife attack which took place inside an Ikea store in Vasteras on Monday.

The store has temporarily stopped selling knives following the killings.

It re-opened on Wednesday and manager Mattias Johansson said he hoped staff and customers could return to “as normal a day as possible”.

Security around the store was stepped up, while police officers also strengthened surveillance at refugee camps in the region, including at the centre where the two suspects live….”

  13. Nigerian Christian leaders ‘hampered Boko Haram fight’ (BBC, Aug 12, 2015)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-33882589

“Christian leaders in Nigeria undermined efforts to combat the threat of Boko Haram by failing to engage in dialogue with Muslims, a senior Anglican church leader has told the BBC.

Archbishop Josiah Idowu-Fearon, who is Nigerian, said Christians had feared the country was being “Islamised”.

They had believed Muslims leaders were supporting the militants, he said.

Boko Haram had targeted both Muslims and Christians in its bid to impose Islamic law in northern Nigeria.

The group has killed some 10,000 people since it began its insurgency in 2009 and has also kidnapped hundreds of girls and women.

Last year, the militants seized a huge area of the north-east, before being beaten back by a regional coalition, including Cameroon, Chad and Niger….”

  14. Egypt heatwave leaves 61 people dead (BBC, Aug 12, 2015)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-middle-east-33886557

“A heatwave in Egypt has killed at least 61 people in three days, the health ministry says, as temperatures soared to 47C (116F).

Forty died after suffering heatstroke on Sunday and Monday, and another 21 died on Tuesday, state media reported.

Another 581 people have been admitted to hospital with heat exhaustion.

Most of the victims were elderly, but local media reports said that they also included several detainees and patients at a psychiatric hospital.

Egyptian detention facilities are notoriously overcrowded, while one newspaper said the deaths at the psychiatric hospital were the result of “negligence”.

The electricity ministry also blamed the weather for a widespread power outage for several hours on Tuesday in several districts of Cairo, bringing the capital’s metro system to a halt.

The Middle East has been hit by a heatwave since late July, with a high atmospheric pressure ridge hovering above much of the region.”

  15. Nigeria’s Boko Haram militants ‘have new leader’ (BBC, Aug 12, 2015)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-33889378

“The Nigerian-based Islamist militant group Boko Haram has a new leader, Chad’s President Idriss Deby says.

He did not say what had happened to Abubakar Shekau, but said he had been replaced by Mahamat Daoud – who has not been heard of before.

Mr Shekau has not featured in the group’s recent videos, leading to speculation that he has been killed.

Mr Deby, whose troops have been involved in battling Boko Haram, said Mr Daoud was open to dialogue.

The BBC’s Nigeria correspondent Will Ross says that last year, the Chadian leader was said to be brokering peace talks with Boko Haram.

But the negotiations never happened and were widely seen as a sham so some analysts will question how much credence to give to Mr Deby’s latest comments about the jihadist group, he adds….”
