  3. Syria Qaeda captures five more US-trained rebels: Monitor

Al-Qaeda’s Syria affiliate captured at least five more US-trained rebel fighters in overnight raids on a village in northwestern Syria, a monitoring group said on Tuesday.

“Between Monday and Tuesday, Al-Nusra Front seized at least five rebels from Division 30 in the village of Qah, near the Turkish border,” Syrian Observatory for Human Rights chief Rami Abdel Rahman said.

The jihadists already captured at least eight rebels from the same US-backed unit last week, the Observatory reported.

According to Abdel Rahman, late on Monday, Al-Nusra stormed a camp for internally displaced people in Qah, where the rebel fighters had taken refuge.

“Five fighters were seen captured but there may be more.”

The Observatory chief said Al-Nusra was “hunting down” US-backed rebels in both Idlib province, where Qah is located, and neighbouring Aleppo province.

A 54-strong rebel unit, trained and equipped by the Pentagon, was inserted into Aleppo province in mid-July as part of US plans to forge a moderate force for the campaign against the Islamic State group.

But despite Al-Nusra’s fierce hostility to the rival jihadists of IS, the unit soon came under attack by the Al-Qaeda loyalists.

They seized eight of its men in Aleppo province on Wednesday, the Observatory said, in a report that drew a denial from the Pentagon.

On Friday, they launched an assault on Division 30’s headquarters in the province that was only repulsed with the help of US air strikes and at the cost of at least five dead.

  4. CAMEROON – Seven killed, about 20 taken in suspected Boko Haram attack in Cameroon

At least seven people were killed and about 20 others were kidnapped by suspected Boko Haram militants in an overnight raid on a village near Cameroon’s northern border, a senior military officer said on Tuesday.

Tchakarmari, the village targeted early on Tuesday, lies north of Maroua, where dozens of people were killed in a series of suicide bombings by the Nigerian Islamist group last month.

“There was an attack at 1.30 a.m. (0030 GMT). We have a figure of seven dead … We were informed that this was an attack by gunmen from Nigeria,” said the officer, who asked not to be named as he was not authorized to speak to the media.

The officer, deployed as part of a Cameroonian military operation aimed at stemming the spillover of violence from Boko Haram’s traditional strongholds in northeastern Nigeria, said that the death toll was provisional and could rise.

After the spate of suicide bombings in July, Cameroon’s government announced plans to send an additional 2,000 troops to boost security in the Far North region.

The regional governor has banned burqas since the attacks, which were carried out by veiled female bombers. And over the weekend, authorities rounded up and expelled about 2,800 Nigerians living in Cameroon without the required documents.

Cameroon has already deployed some 7,000 troops as part of a regional force which includes Chad, Niger and Nigeria to try to stop Boko Haram’s six-year insurgency.

  5. Islamic State claims camp in Pakistan’s tribal areas

A social media account linked to the Islamic State recently tweeted out two photos purporting to show a training camp in Pakistan’s northwest tribal areas. The images cannot be independently confirmed by The Long War Journal, however, the Islamic State’s Wilayat Khorasan [Khorasan Province], which operates in Afghanistan and Pakistan, is known to operate training camps right across the border in Afghanistan.

In one tweet, the Islamic State supporter said that a “Caravan of Baitullah Mehsud in Waziristan pledged allegiance to the Islamic State Wilayat Khorasan.” It is not clear if the camp is located in North or South Waziristan, but the photos show the fighters in a heavily mountainous area, within a compound on the mountainside. The banner shown in the photos reads “Shahid Hakeemullah Mehsud camp, Islamic State.”[…]

  6. SYRIA – Russian Airborne Troops chief says paratroopers ready to help Syria in combating terrorism

The Russian Airborne Troops are ready to assist Syria in countering terrorists, if such a task is set by Russia’s leaders, commander of the Airborne Troops Colonel-General Vladimir Shamanov told reporters on Tuesday.

“Of course we will execute the decisions set forth by the country’s leadership, if there is a task at hand,” Shamanov said, in response to a Syrian reporter’s question about the readiness of the Russian Airborne Troops to render assistance to Syria’s government in its battle against terrorism.

Shamanov noted that Russia and Syria have “long-term good relations.” “Many Syrian experts, including military, received education in the Soviet Union and in Russia,” Shamanov added.

Therefore, the economic war ignited in the A Share sector of the stock market is directly targeted at our five-starred red flag.”…”

Like purchasing halal, buying Chinese goods is for your own grave or chains.

      • Most of the western factories are leaving China, the Chinese government is demanding too big a share of the profits. I think they are moving to Singapore adn Malaysia. China in an attempt to remain competitive in the manufacturing market has build a totally robotic factory in (I think) Shanghai. The only people are managers and maintenance personal. If we can get the socialist out of control of the US and stop/remove the socialist regulation isn’t an economic threat.

The robot revolution is bringing a lot of factories back to the US, this is why so many states are trying to become right to work states. Right to work makes the factory labor competitive with the robots. The lefts solution is to outlaw the robots and drive the factories overseas.

      • Check out what the Chinese stock market is doing, the Chinese investors are saying that they think the Chinese economy is not safe to invest in and are going to overseas investments.

  7. CNN Asks Activist Behind Planned Parenthood Videos if He’s a ‘Violent Extremist’

CNN’s Camerota to Head of Pro-Life Group: Critics Say You’re ‘Violent Extremists’ – CNN Asks Activist Behind Planned Parenthood Videos if He’s a ‘Violent Extremist’
In an interview with the Center for Medicial Progress’ David Daleiden, CNN’s New Day host Alisyn Camerota asked the activist behind the undercover Planned Parenthood videos to respond to criticism he was a “violent extremist.”

“Your critics– critics of your organization I should say– say that you’re not journalists as you purport to be on your website, but rather you’re violent extremists,” Camerota said to Daleiden.

“They say that you are operating under the guise of investigative reporting, but really you’re trying to shut down all Planned Parenthoods and women’s access to things like birth control and other services they provide,” she continued. “Do you have any ties to Operation Rescue?”

“First, number one, I’m not a violent person and I never have been and I never will be,” Daleiden responded. “Troy Newman is one of the board members for the Center for Medical Progress…”

“And Troy Newman is the president of Operation Rescue,” Camerota cut in. “Operation Rescue does have a history of threatening violence against clinics.”

“I don’t think that’s true at all,” he responded. “You’d have to talk to Troy about the full history of Operation Rescue and some of those details. But I don’t think that’s a fair characterization at all.”

  8. BREITBART – Netanyahu: Iran Nuclear Deal Will Ensure ‘Horrific’ War In Middle East

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed the American Jewish community in a live webcast Wednesday, making the case for why the nuclear accord between the Iranian regime and world powers is a deal that dangers Israel’s existence as a sovereign state.

The webcast was hosted by the Jewish Federations of North America and the member organizations of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, which comprises over 50 Jewish bipartisan, Pro Israel organizations.

“I want to talk with you about three fatal flaws in the nuclear deal with Iran,” Netanyahu said in his opening remarks.

“The nuclear deal with Iran does not block Iran’s path to the bomb, it paves Iran’s path to the bomb.”

After the deal expires, “Iran’s breakout time will be practically zero,” he added. “By keeping the deal, Iran will become a threshold nuclear-weapons power.”

The deal does make it “harder for Iran to produce one or two nuclear weapons in the short term, but it does so at a terrible price.” In fact, “the deal makes it far easier for Iran to build dozens, even hundreds of nuclear weapons in a little over a decade,” the Israeli Prime Minister stated.

“Ten to fifteen years pass in no time… its a blink of an eye,” Netanyahu said in rallying against the deal.

And even if Iran decides to make the push for the bomb earlier, in violation of the nuclear agreement, the deal does not allow for inspections to check Iran cheating on the deal, Netanyahu argued.

The Israeli Prime Minister warned of the coming Middle East arms race that will result from the nuclear accord: “The countries in the region threatened by Iran have already made clear that they will work to develop atomic bombs of their own. The deal that was supposed to end nuclear proliferation will actually trigger nuclear proliferation.”

The deal “will trigger a nuclear arms race in the Middle East – the most volatile part of the planet. That’s a real nightmare,” he stated.

The Iran deal threatens the West as a whole, as it gives Iran a “massive infusion of cash,” Netanyahu said. “Iran will use this cash to fund its aggression in the region, and its terrorism around the world. As a result of this deal, there will be more terrorism, more attacks, and more people will die.”

Netanyahu said that the cash windfall (estimated at hundreds of billions of dollars) that Iran is set to receive in the next decade will turn any terrorist group it supports into a “terrorist superpower.”

“This is a very dangerous deal, and it threatens all of us,” he concluded.

“The days when the Jewish people could not, or would not, speak up for themselves– those days are over. Today, we can speak out. Today, we must speak out, and we must do so together,” he added, explaining that even his political opponents are united in opposition to the deal. “This is simply not a partisan issue in Israel,” Netanyahu explained, citing his opponent in Israel’s recent elections, Labor leader Isaac Herzog, and his strong opposition to the Iran deal.

“This isn’t about me. It isn’t about President Obama. It’s about the deal,” he explained. “I’m asking you to rise above partisan politics, as we in Israel have risen above it.”

“Judge the deal on its substance, and its substance alone,” he urged viewers.

The most “outrageous claim” made by supporters of the deal, Netanyahu said, “is that those who oppose this deal want war.”

“That’s utterly false,” he responded. “We in Israel don’t want war. We want peace.”

“We face Iran’s terror on three borders [Assad regime in Syria, Hezbollah in Lebanon, and Hamas in Gaza],” Netanyahu explained. “We face tens-of thousands of Iranian rockets aimed at all of our cities.” The Iranian regime “repeatedly calls for the destruction of Israel,” and their “terrorist proxies” continue to try to “kill Jews everyday,” he said.

Not only is Iran “the world’s leading state-sponsor of terrorism, it’s also the leading state-sponsor of anti-Semitism,” the prime minister of the Jewish state said.

“I don’t oppose this deal because I want war. I oppose this deal because I want to prevent war, and this deal will bring war,” Netanyahu stated. “It will spark a nuclear arms race in the region and it will feed Iran’s aggression – that will make war, perhaps the most horrific war of all.”

“Don’t let the deal supporters quash a real debate,” he urged. “The issue here is too important. Don’t let them take your voice away at this critical moment in history. What we do now will affect our lives, and the lives of our children and grandchildren in Israel, in America, everywhere. This is the time to stand up and be counted. Oppose this dangerous deal,” the Prime Minister of Israel concluded.

  9. Bulgaria has installed a barbed-wire fence on its southern border in an effort to prevent a further influx of immigrants into the European Union’s poorest member state.

The 33-kilometre (20.8-mile) long and three metre (10 feet) high fence, which was completed on Thursday, has cut the number of illegal trespassers to 300 a month, down from 2,000 people per month last autumn, according to officials.

Bulgarian Defence Minister Angel Naydenov said the fence should prevent foreign nationals crossing the border illegally.

“The main purpose of this facility is to redirect them to the border checkpoints where they can legally enter the territory of the Republic of Bulgaria in the way it is done in any other country,” he said.
Bulgaria was caught unprepared last year by a surge of 11,600 refugees, mainly Syrians, which was 10 times the annual number of refugee seekers ahead of the Syrian war.

While officials are proud of the “iron guard” on the border with Turkey, rights agencies have been criticising Bulgaria and other EU members for denying access to people in need before they can apply for refugee status.

  10. Slovakians vote ‘no’ to taking in Austria’s homeless asylum seekers

A village in Slovakia has strongly rejected Hosting asylum seekers to ease pressure on overcrowded shelters in neighboring Austria. The plan, approved by the interior ministers of both countries, was put to a local vote.

In a referendum held on Sunday in the Slovak town of Gabcikovo, almost 97 percent of those who voted said “No” to temporarily taking in 500 asylum seekers.

Officials in Gabcikovo, just south of the capital Bratislava, organized the referendum after more than 3,000 residents signed a petition opposing plans to shelter the asylum seekers temporarily in a university building in the town.

Some 2,600 of the town’s 4,300 eligible voters took part, a turnout of 58.5 percent. Only 102 voted in favor of accepting the asylum seekers. The vote in opposition was overwhelming – 96.67 percent.

    Agreement between neighbors

The interior ministers of both Slovakia and Austria had agreed in July that Vienna could send up to 500 people who had applied for asylum in Austria to Slovakia by the end of September. Slovak Interior Minister Robert Kalinak and his Austrian counterpart, Johanna Mikl-Leitner, had arranged that the asylum applications would still be processed in Austria and Vienna would cover personnel costs, but Slovakia would take on the accommodation costs.

Austrian authorities were seeking to relieve pressure on the overcrowded refugee arrival center in Traiskirchen, just south of Vienna, where in July some 1,200 people had to sleep outside because of a lack of space.

Sunday’s referendum isn’t binding for Slovak authorities, but it will now be clear to them that sending the asylum seekers to Gabcikovo is against the wishes of most of the town’s population.

The issue of how to cope with the hundreds of thousands of people now seeking refuge in Europe – many fleeing conflict or poverty in the Middle East, Africa and some eastern European nations – is seen as a test for European solidarity.

Slovakia is not a favored destination for asylum seekers, with only 14 people granted asylum there last year. The country’s Prime Minister Robert Fico has threatened a referendum if European Commission plans for a quota system to distribute refugees more evenly throughout the European Union are implemented.

Austria, which has a population of about 8.5 million, has reported 70,000 asylum seekers arriving in this year alone, compared with 28,000 last year. Authorities are struggling to cope with all the new arrivals.

  13. The Washington Post – FBI looking into the security of Hillary Clinton’s private e-mail setup

[…]The inquiries are bringing to light new information about Clinton’s use of the system and the lengths she went to install a private channel of communication outside government control — a setup that has emerged as a major issue in her presidential campaign.

For instance, the server installed in her Chappaqua, N.Y., home as she was preparing to take office as secretary of state was originally used by her first campaign for the presidency, in 2008, according to two people briefed on the setup. A staffer who was on the payroll of her political action committee set it up in her home, replacing a server that Clinton’s husband, former president Bill Clinton, had been using in the house.

The inquiries by the FBI follow concerns from government officials that potentially hundreds of e-mails that passed through Clinton’s private server contained classified or sensitive information. At this point, the probe is preliminary and is focused on ensuring the proper handling of classified material.

[…]Responsibility for setting up and maintaining the server that handled personal e-mail communications for Bill and Hillary Clinton passed through a number of different hands, starting with Clinton staffers with limited training in computer security[…]

  14. German MP Patzelt opens home to two Eritrean migrants (BBC, video, Aug 4, 2015)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-europe-33771112

“A German conservative MP, Martin Patzelt, has taken two Eritrean refugees into his home and is helping the young men find jobs locally.

Mr Patzelt, of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democrats (CDU), lives near Frankfurt (Oder) in eastern Germany. The Eritreans have been staying with him for a month.

Such initiatives help to “get rid of the polarisation and hostility” towards migrants, he told German ARD TV.

Many Eritreans have fled to Europe.

The country in the Horn of Africa has an authoritarian government which forces citizens into military service – often for many years and in deplorable conditions.

Generally Eritreans and Syrians are granted refugee status when they reach Germany, allowing them to stay there.

But Germany is gripped by an intense debate over migrants, as the numbers have soared this year – largely because of the boatloads crossing the Mediterranean. That is putting local authorities under pressure….”

  15. Accused Taliban fighter says U.S. helicopters killed insurgents ‘like insects’ (yahoo, Aug 5, 2015)
    http://news.yahoo.com/accused-taliban-says-u-helicopters-killed-insurgents-insects-190007774.html

“U.S. helicopters gunned down Taliban fighters “like insects” during a failed 2009 attack in Afghanistan, an accused Taliban fighter said in a videotaped interview with the FBI shown during his trial on Wednesday.

Irek Hamidullin, a former Soviet tank officer who converted to Islam, is charged with coordinating the November 2009 attack on an Afghan Border Police base. He is the first Afghan War military combatant to be tried in U.S. federal court.

Hamidullin called off the assault after insurgents’ weapons malfunctioned, and his roughly 30 men fell back, he told the FBI in a videotaped 2010 interview. Shortly afterward, U.S. reconnaissance and Apache attack helicopters swooped in.

“Helicopters shoot us like insects,” Hamidullin said in the interview played for jurors in U.S. District Court. He was the sole Taliban survivor of the attack. No American or Afghan troops were killed.

Hamidullin, who was born in 1959, was charged last year with 15 criminal counts ranging from supporting terrorists to firearms offenses stemming from the assault in eastern Afghanistan’s Khost province.

Hamidullin has repeatedly insisted during 15 separate interviews with the FBI that he never fired his own AK-47 during the attack on Camp Leyza in Afghanistan’s Khost Province.

Earlier this week two U.S. soldiers, including one who shot Hamidullin, testified that they had seen muzzle flashes from his rifle before they fired….”
