Canada passes bill all nations should have, Islamic State offers human slaves as prizes and more: Links 1 on June 21 – 2015

1. Vatican bans lone scientist who objects to the AGP model of global warming.

(Church skeptics and cynics have been commenting that this is one dogma supporting another. But in fairness it should be pointed out that previous popes in deciding issues have sought out the best possible opponents and allowed them to state their case clearly before making a decision. A Catholic Church process I believe is called, ‘The Devil’s Advocate‘. A recent example is when they invited Christopher Hitchens to speak against the canonization of Mother Theresa. He had written a book about her and was her most passionate detractor. This pope is not following centuries of Catholic due process)

2. ISIS Offers Female Slaves As Top Prizes For Koran Competition

The statement, whose authenticity couldn’t be verified, was issued by the Da’wa and Mosques Department in Al-Baraka (Al-Hasaka) province in Syria.

It begins with congratulations to ISIS soldiers and departments in the province upon the beginning of the month of Ramadan. It then announces the upcoming Koran memorization competition, at which it says participants will be tested and given prizes accordingly.

Picture of ISIS’s statement. Female slaves prizes circled in red.

3. Front Page article on an Obama Vs. Israel meeting. A worthy read.

4. Muslim girl converts to Christianity, gets attacked by Bosnian muslim step father

5. Stephen Coughlin on Fox and Friends discusses his new book and his work.

6. Egyptian government has Germany arrest Al Jazeera ‘journalist’ on unspecified charges.

(Egypt detained two Al Jazeera journalists who are Canadian passport holders as well, and if memory serves, for good reasons)

7. Time Mag: Muhammad cartoons “make Muslims feel less safe”

(Once again, muslims who are the aggressors, manage to do lots of murder, intimidation, extortion on a national and international scale etc. and then on top of that, make themselves out to be the victims with the help of ludicrously out of touch or complicit media)

8. Former NT News journo lodged $100,000 sexual discrimination complaint against Islamist political party

(An Australian Rosa Parks? Lets track this one)

9. ‘Barbaric Cultural Practices’ bill to criminalize forced marriage, tackle ‘honour killings’ passes final vote

SkypeScreenSnapz003

A bill to outlaw forced marriage, prevent polygamist immigrations and tackle “honour killings” is set to become law.

FotoliaA U.K. man received 16 years in jail this week for offences that include forced marriage and rape.

Bill S-7, the Zero Tolerance for Barbaric Cultural Practices Act, passed its final parliamentary hurdle Tuesday evening, by a vote of 182 to 84. The governing Conservatives and Liberals voted for it, with the New Democrats and Green Party opposed.

The bill would raise the marriage age to 16 in addition to adding forced marriage to the Criminal Code. It would also toughen the laws around polygamy, with an eye to preventing immigration by those who engage in the practice and making it easier to deport people who do. And, it would toughen the rules around so-called honour killings, so that the defence of provocation can no longer be used in court.

(On what grounds would the Green party and New Democrats oppose this bill I wonder?)

Thank you Richard, M., Carpe Diem, Wrath of Khan and many more and much more to come.

In a video posted yesterday, a Slovakian national said that in their traditional national songs and poems, there is a lot of wisdom that muslims are always their enemy. It would be great to see a translation of those songs and poems and know their origins etc. At this stage any Western nation that still values its own history and culture is a precious thing.

  1. Somalia jihadists al-Shabab launch Mogadishu attack (BBC, June 21, 2015)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-33214675

“The Somali jihadist group al-Shabab has carried out an attack in the country’s capital Mogadishu.

A suicide car bomber and gunmen attacked a training centre for the national intelligence agency on Sunday morning.

Government officials said that soldiers “foiled the attack” and at least three militants died.

The militants have vowed to intensify attacks during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, which began on Wednesday. Al-Shabab claims to have killed several intelligence officers inside the building, something the government denies.

After the suicide bomb was detonated outside the training centre, gunmen reportedly stormed a civilian house that they had mistaken for the government facility.

Interior ministry spokesman Mohamed Yusuf said security forces had successfully repulsed the attackers….

  2. 1 – This is what leftist do, they break with tradition to be able to ignore and demonize all who oppose them. This Pope is bad news for the Catholic Church.

  3. I have learned not to believe anything the secular press says about Pope Francis. They usually get things out of context and give a wrong interpretation of what he has said. Maybe the simple truth is that they ran out of room at the conference.
I’m reading the Encylical and I think before anyone comments they should read it themselves. The overall message that I ‘m getting from it is that Creation is a gift of God and that we should take care of it not just for ourselves but for future generations, and that it is the poor who suffer most when the environment is degraded. Whether you believe that climate change is caused by human beings or not, it is true that the earth is polluted in a bad way and we need to do something about it. (Not by getting rid of human beings, as the Pope makes clear).
The Encylical is addressed to everyone not just Christians, so my advice is to read it before commenting. You just have to type in Laudato Si at search and you can download it.

    • Thank you Elizabeth. I would prefer you to be right than the general picture I get from the media. And in previous issues similar to this, it has been exactly as you describe, but not in all things. I have the video where he talks about punching people who say things someone might find offensive when he was defending islamic violence against those who draw mohamed. This is unconscionable I believe. Also there is more on the AGW issue which will be posted soon.

    • Laudato Si: “Praise be to you, my Lord, through our Sister, Mother Earth, who sustains and governs us, and who produces various fruit with coloured flowers and herbs”

Should we take this hippy seriously? Or do we take the voice of Gaia only as a metaphor like he uses for G_d-Jesus? Take a seat, but not at my table?

    • Don’t we all, of course if we had a leader like him for the last 6.5 years we wouldn’t be in such a mess.
