Wilders blames sabotage for failure to broadcast Mohammed cartoons
The national public broadcasting company NPO is investigating why a party political broadcast by the PVV showing anti-Mohammed drawings was not transmitted as planned. PVV leader Geert Wilders pledged to show the drawings during the broadcast but instead an old item was aired instead. Wilders has accused the public broadcaster of sabotage and has now placed the item featuring the cartoons, which is 2.45 minutes long, on YouTube. The video is due to be broadcast twice more later this month.

U.N. World Refugee Day: Richer nations urged to shoulder burden (CNN, June 20, 2015)
http://edition.cnn.com/2015/06/20/world/un-world-refugee-day/index.html
“The world’s refugees are all too often shunned, discriminated against or forgotten. As the United Nations marks World Refugee Day on Saturday, Hollywood actor and director Angelina Jolie is lending her support by visiting a refugee camp in Turkey.
It won’t be the first such visit for Jolie, who’s a special envoy for the U.N. refugee agency, the UNHCR. She’s previously visited refugee camps in Jordan and Iraq to see the plight of families forced from their homes by Syria’s long conflict and the advance of ISIS.
She will be accompanied Saturday by U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees Antonio Guterres and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
In a statement, Guterres warned that “a spreading global violence has come to threaten the very foundations of our international system” and urged the world not to turn its back on those who most need its help.
“More people fled last year than at any other time in our records. Around the world, almost 60 million have been displaced by conflict and persecution. Nearly 20 million of them are refugees, and more than half are children,” he said.
Their numbers are growing every day, on every continent, he said. And they rely on the world for their survival.
“They will remember what we do,” he said. “Yet, even as this tragedy unfolds, some of the countries most able to help are shutting their gates to people seeking asylum. Borders are closing, pushbacks are increasing, and hostility is rising. Avenues for legitimate escape are fading away.”
At the same time, he said, humanitarian organizations like the UNHCR run on shoestring budgets, unable to meet the spiraling needs of such massive numbers of people.
A report from the UNHCR on Thursday gave the same stark warning…..”

Off topic, but imo super cool. (65 seconds only.)
The function of the robot sounds intriguing, however, the self-destruct feature is incomplete. The origami structure dissolves, but what about the magnet (motor?)…and the thoughts of an outer directional source manipulating the magnet made me immediately think of MRI…potential disaster!

Graz car deaths: Two dead and several injured as man drives into crowd
Three people have been killed and dozens injured after a man drove a large car into a huge crowd of people before leaping out of his car and attacking others at random with a knfe.
A 7-year-old boy is feared to be one of those killed in the horror, along with a woman in a city square in Graz, Austria.
According to Governor Hermann Schützenhöfer, a fourth person is fighting for their life while 33 others were also injured in the shocking incident.
Local news news outlets in the country reported the man, a 26-year-old Austrian with Bosnian roots, “deliberately” drove into a crowd of people this afternoon.
After launching a ferocious attack with a knife, he was arrested by police and taken away.
The city’s mayor Siegfried Nagl is said to have witnessed the horror.
He told Kleine Zeitung newspaperhe thought the driver deliberately steered towards pedestrians.
He sad: “I myself have seen how a woman was knocked down.”
Local police confirmed that the incident happened today but would not give any details or confirm the number of dead and injured.
Austrian public television ORF said the man had been arrested and that police had sealed off the area in Graz, which is the second largest city in Austria.
News outlets quoted unnamed witnesses as saying the man apparently ploughed his vehicle into the crowd at random, sending several people crashing into the windscreen and flying over the SUV.
Austria’s APA news agency said two bodies were lying near the scene, covered with blankets.
One witness told ORF they saved themself by diving into a shopping arcade.
They said: “I’ve been drinking on the main square cappuccino, as people started to scream, then was heard a howling engine.”

YEMEN SANAA – Car bomb explodes in Yemen capital near mosque used by Houthis, two dead
A car bomb exploded in Yemen’s capital Sanaa on Saturday near the Qiba al-Mahdi mosque used by the Houthi militia, killing two people and wounding six others, witnesses and a security source told Reuters.
On Wednesday the Sunni Muslim jihadist group Islamic State claimed responsibility for four car bombs that detonated near mosques used by the Houthis and the group’s headquarters in Sanaa, killing two and injuring around 60 people.
The Houthis, who are mainly drawn from the Shi’ite Zaydi sect and are considered heretics by Islamic State, took control of Sanaa in September, a move that culminated in a messy civil war and months of air strikes by a Saudi Arabia-led coalition.
U.N. sponsored talks in Geneva between Yemen’s warring parties ended on Friday without a deal.
The Houthis are allied to former president Ali Abdullah Saleh, who still has the loyalty of much of the army. They are fighting President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, who is exiled in Riyadh, as well as southern separatists, tribal factions and other political groups.
Two coalition air raids early on Saturday hit the al-Dulaimi air base near Sanaa’s international airport, while several others targeted Saada in northern Yemen and areas near the border with Saudi Arabia, witnesses and the Houthis said.
In Marib, a region east of Sanaa contested in fighting for the past three months, 15 Houthis and four tribal fighters were killed in clashes on Saturday morning, tribal sources told Reuters.

Slovakia: Far-right protest against the ‘Islamification of Europe’ in Bratislava
Bratislava – Huge crowd – skip the beginning – go to —> 1:00
Yahoo News Mass arrests after thousands rally against immigration in Bratislava
Bratislava (AFP) – At least 140 people were arrested Saturday after violence broke out at an anti-immigration rally in Bratislava attended by thousands of people in protest at EU quotas on migrant numbers, local media said.
The rally, organised by an anti-Islam group called Stop the Islamisation of Europe, drew up to 8,000 people, according to Slovakian media. Police declined to give an estimate.
Protesters included Marian Kotleba, the governor of a central Slovakian region and founder of the far-right People’s Party Our Slovakia.
“I wish you a nice, white day… we are here to save Slovakia,” Kotleba told the crowd.
Scuffles erupted between small groups of demonstrators and police at the end of the rally, leading to 140 arrests, the country’s TASR news agency reported, citing local police sources. Six police cars were damaged in the unrest.
Earlier, at least one protester was taken into custody after using tear gas against the police, and some in the crowd were seen shredding a blue EU flag offered by one of the speakers.
After the rally, a group of protesters attacked spectators at a cycling show, local media said, adding that unidentified attackers also threw bottles and stones at an Arab family at the main train station.
The protest was called after the European Commission said in May that Slovakia, an EU and NATO member of 5.4 million people, should accept 471 migrants from Italy and 314 from Greece, as the bloc scrambles to deal with a surge in people illegally crossing the Mediterranean Sea in search of a better life.
On Friday, Prime Minister Robert Fico and his counterparts from neighbouring Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland affirmed that their countries were against quotas on refugee numbers imposed by the EU.
A June poll by the Focus opinion research agency, published on Saturday, showed Slovaks perceived the current wave of migrants heading to Europe as the hottest international topic, being mentioned by almost 22 percent of 1,018 respondents.
“The vast majority of the Slovak public… perceives migrants as a security risk for the country, or as an economic or social burden,” said Focus head Martin Slosiarik.

Roadside Bomb Kills at Least 12 Civilians in Afghanistan (abcnews, June 20, 2015)
http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/police-roadside-bomb-kills-12-afghanistan-31910719
“An Afghan family returning to their home after fleeing a possible military operation struck a roadside bomb Saturday in the country’s south, killing at least 12 of them and wounding eight, authorities said.
The blast struck the family’s van in Helmand province’s Marjah district, largely a Taliban stronghold. At least 12 died in the blast, though the death toll could rise, said Nabil Jan Mullahkhail, the provincial police chief.
The family fled the district in recent days after hearing a government offensive could take place there, relative Mohammad Salih said. Salih said the death toll likely was higher, as he believed as many as 21 of his relatives had been killed in the blast.
No one immediately claimed responsibility for the blast. The Taliban routinely plant roadside bombs to target Afghan security forces, though the bombs often explode as civilian vehicles pass by, killing them instead….”
German police arrest Al Jazeera journalist in Berlin
Lawyer says Ahmed Mansour, one of the most senior journalists on the channel’s Arabic service, was detained at the request of Egypt
Germany has arrested a leading Al Jazeera journalist in Berlin, complying with an Egyptian request.
Ahmed Mansour, a dual British-Egyptian national who worked for the network’s Arabic language channel, has been sentenced to 15 years in absentia by a Cairo court, charged with torturing an unnamed lawyer in Tahrir Square in 2011. Both Mr Mansour and Al Jazeera reject the allegation.
A spokesman for the German Federal Police confirmed that a 52-year-old man was arrested at Berlin’s Tegel airport at lunchtime on Saturday, in accordance with an international arrest warrant issued by the Egyptian authorities. It is believed that he was boarding a Qatar Airways flight to Doha.
In October, Al-Jazeera said Interpol had rejected an Egyptian request to issue a “red notice” for Mansour’s arrest. A network spokesman could not be reached for comment Saturday night.
Mr Mansour recently hit the headlines with a rare interview with the head of Jabhat al-Nusra, an al-Qaeda affiliated group fighting alongside western-backed rebels in Syria. In a Facebook post Saturday night, the presenter said he had showed German authorities an email from Interpol saying he was not wanted by them.
The reason for Germany’s decision to pursue Mr Mansour remains unclear. German chancellor Angela Merkel has been more outspoken than most on Egypt’s human rights record, resorting to public criticism at a meeting with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Berlin earlier this month.
During the same visit, Bundestag speaker Norbert Lammert referred to “systematic persecution” on the part of the Egyptian police and judiciary against opposition groups in Egypt.
