4. ISIS Propaganda Machine Is Sophisticated and Prolific, US Officials Say

ISIS terrorists are expertly using hip hop music, video games and even children to successfully recruit young people to their violent cause. That assessment comes today from the FBI and from top U.S. counterterrorism officials, who say the ISIS social media machine is sophisticated, prolific, and unprecedented.

“They are shooting out into the ether-sphere thousands and thousands of messages a day, over 90,000 a day and it’s to millions of people across the globe,” John Carlin, the head of the Justice Department’s National Security Division told ABC News Correspondent Pierre Thomas. “What they are trying to do is to convince young people to go slaughter civilians in a vicious war.” (Video at link)

Thank you Dumbstruck, M., Wrath of Khan, Andrew Bostom and all. Pamela Geller has started a national discussion on the meaning of the 1st amendment. This was far far more necessary than I ever thought it would be based on what the majority of the pundits, talking heads and media darlings are saying. It is purely terrifying how few people understand the issue. Ms. Geller is also correct when she says that many of these media exchanges are total moral inversions. They are victim blaming. It was a good analogy that one Pakistani girl who went to school despite the fact muslims had threatened to kill her for doing so, and she was shot in the face for it and got the Nobel Peace Prize as a result.

Well Pamela Geller deserves the Thomas Jefferson 1st amendment prize.

  1. When I was young the debate wouldn’t have been necessary, everyone who mattered agreed that freedom of speech was necessary, now after 50+ years of leftist propaganda the vast majority of people in the US don’t know what the Constitution says and why the Bill of Rights was written. It is sad to say but the people who pass the citizenship test know more about our rights then the average American.

    • I’m still thinking we might be a bit better off in this regard than at the time of the Danish cartoons. For example, as far as I read through them, most of the comments on Pamela Geller’s statement in Time Magazine took her side. It might only be 1% of the population that is awake, but in 2005 it felt more like 0.001%.

      • We are gaining support daily, and the numbers increase faster as more join our side.

    • Nah, most of them cheat.

The only ones who really want to know how our system works are jail-bird lawyers working on appeals.

  2. 6/ What does he mean, ‘the victim is dead?’ I thought only the jihadis were dead.

From Wikipedia on the despicable and hypocritical Juan Williams:

‘NPR terminated his contract on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, two days after he made remarks on The O’Reilly Factor. He had commented, “Look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.”‘

You would have thought he would welcome the opportunity to ‘engage with’ them.

  3. Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer’s efforts to caricature Islamic doctrine is the same as the efforts during WWII by Walt Disney and Warner Brothers and MGM movie studios. No one balked at whether every German or Japanese citizen was a Nazi or a Shinto warrior back then. These professional movie studios simply recognized evil and addressed it.
For instance, take the linked MGM example which opens with the following caveat:

“Foreward: The Wolf in this photoplay is NOT fictitious. Any similarity between this Wolf and that (*!!@&&%) jerk Hitler is purely intentional!

    Try that today with:

“Forward: The Wolf in this photoplay (cartoon) is NOT fictitious. Any similarity between this Wolf and that (*!!@&&%)Murderous prophet Muhammed is purely intentional!

before one has opportunity to blink, howls of racism and intolerance by those who defend the indefensible ensue!

  4. The fact that it has been known for centuries that Muslims will murder anyone who criticises Muhammed, does not mean that no one should criticise Muhammed.

Quite the contrary. In a free country, it becomes imcumbent on all lovers of freedom to criticise Muhmmed.
