2. Britain’s top judge says women should be allowed to wear a face cloth in court

Judges should allow Muslim women to appear in court wearing a full-face veil, Britain’s most senior judge has suggested.

Lord Neuberger, the President of the Supreme Court, said it was crucial that courts and judges “show, and be seen to show” respect towards different customs.

He said this included having an understanding of the “different cultural and social habits” of those appearing as witnesses, defendants or jurors in cases.

His comments, in a lecture about the need for courts to be less intimidating, come at a time of uncertainty over the place of the Muslim niqab, or full face-veil, in the legal system.

(And what happens when muslims demand that sharia norms be applied to the nature of crimes as well as the punishment? And when they demand that all non-muslims comply to their values and customs? That would still be being sensitive to their values would it not?)

ISIS claimed responsibility for a suicide car bomb attack Friday near the U.S. Consulate in the Kurdish Iraqi city of Irbil, according to several Twitter accounts linked to the terror group.

The U.S. Consulate was the target of the attack, ISIS said.

At least two people were killed and five injured, police said.

  1. 2. ‘veil’ can take many forms.
Hijab (doesn’t cover the face), niqab (covers everything but the eyes), Burka (covers the eyes) and a few others similar to the hijab.

What is this judge talking about anyway? If it’s the whole spectrum of veils then he is talking about full faced burkas. We should only talk about Burkas since that is the limit of what can be worn.

    • Head cloth, face cloth. I am at the point now where I do not see why I should concern myself with every detail of the enemy clothing and be made to feel the boor if I don’t get each subtle variation right.

They wear a cloth on their heads, only bad because it is a uniform of islamic supremacy and totalitarianism, and or a face cloth of some kind, bad for the same reasons plus it is a way for them to have an advantage over the non muslims by not being identifiable in public while the rest of us are. Nuff said.

    • WWI is a good example of how Islam creates problems that wouldn’t existed. Same with many of the European wars that went back to Queen Elisabeth

My point is as things heat up it can cause problems amongst countries that orderly wouldn’t have a problem.

      • This time you can’t blame Islam alone, our home grown leftist are as much to blame for the current mess, in fact more to blame since they invited the Moslems in and then worked to prevent the rest of us from doing anything to stop the conquest.

This is guaranteed to cause civil wars which I think were the goal of the left in the first place, they think they can win the civil wars and thus impose full socialism/Marxism on the west.

  2. 5/ Either the HRCs are driving nails into their own coffins with these preference-group rulings in favor of Islam or they’re driving nails into Canada’s, which will be settled by whether enough Canadians object to being buried alive. Perhaps this one will backfire on Muslims and the HRCs, if not now then later, when Muslims at Webber demand their own mini-mosque and other concessions. Or if the administration loses the appeal they could refuse to pay the fine or abide by the ruling and make a very public demand for a hearing in a real court of law while drawing on what must be their considerable intellectual resources to win their point in the court of public opinion.

    • National Post: Calgary school slapped with $26K fine for refusing to let Muslim students pray on campus

      http://news.nationalpost.com/news/canada/private-school-that-forced-muslim-students-to-pray-outside-unlawfully-discriminated-human-rights-tribunal-rules

The appeal is to a real court, I didn’t get that. But the school looks set to lose, looking at how things evolved. What could be the harm in a couple of students saying a prayer? It is unreasonable to force the students to hide to do this or go out in the snow. The school will lose because it will be unwilling to make the case that Islam is different from other religions, that this particular and seemingly harmless devotional practice is only a surface aspect of an ideology that systematically, inevitably, invariably seeks the replacement of every aspect of the moral and intellectual code the school stands for with its own code.

If Webber doesn’t do this, make the case about Islam, the HRC has a point. Does the school have an anti-prayer patrol, or will it be forming one? How can the prayer police be certain that a Buddhist with his eyes half-shut in the library isn’t praying? Is that Christian with his fingers steepled revising dates for his history test or trying to get away with something? The problem isn’t prayer, the problem is Islam and what Islam uses prayer for, among other things to stake a territorial claim. If Webber is going to be PC about this and pretend that all religions are equal, it won’t have reason on its side.
