A Malaysian cartoonist known for lampooning the ruling coalition was charged Friday with nine counts of sedition over a series of tweets criticizing the country’s judiciary.
The charges against Zulkiflee Anwar Alhaque, better known as Zunar, came amid a widening government crackdown on opposition politicians and the media slammed by critics as a move to stifle freedom of expression.
“This is a record, being charged nine times and using the sedition law. It is excessive and targeted at silencing vocal critics,” said Zunar’s lawyer, Latheefa Koya.
Zunar faces up to 43 years in jail if found guilty on all nine charges under the colonial-era law, she said. He was released on bail after being charged.

I must say, the headline of the Standard story linked above is one of the most dishonest headlines I have ever seen outside of the National Enquirer. Perhaps more so as the NE typically doesn’t expect people to really believe them.
These were not “Muslim Worshipers, they are agitating against democracy itself and demanding sharia law for England. This makes them, in a sane world, actual seditionists. Traitors. Ingrates if you like as many are on public assistance. If you must buy the extremist narrative, Islamic extremists. To refer to them as ‘worshipers and then dare contrast that with “far right extremists” because a group of British citizens actually want to preserve British jurisprudence, legal foundations, democratic principles and thousands of years of British history should be an actionable slander and libel. Mr. Golding should sue.
The article appears more honest than the headline. Which makes one wonder what really did happen there.

The Evening Standard article claims that Choudary was telling his crew not to vote – it is un-Islamic. The other goon in the video was yelling that “Voting makes you a Kuffar”. Surely this must be taqiyya for the media, because the ROP strategy is always to vote as a block for the party most supportive of mass immigration. In the mosque, the Imams tell them all to vote and who to vote for, and mail vote fraud is rampant. Tower Hamlets local elections were a shining example of this. Please correct me if I’m wrong here.
