TORONTO—When her baby got a heart transplant at Sick Children’s Hospital, Bano Shahdady threw away her burqa.
At twenty years old, after years of religious training, she also decided to return to public high school. With help from her son’s doctors and a social worker, she arranged to rent an apartment to leave her parents and husband.
It was there, two weeks after she moved in, that police found her strangled to death, her son left alone with the body for 15 hours, murdered by a man hiding his identity behind a burka.

I should mention that the likely rate of muslim honour crimes in our countries is almost certainly significantly higher than reported. I personally know of at least 1 that never hit the papers which was quite spectacular and I only know about it because a neighbor of the victim and perp saw most of what took place and was filled in by locals. My suspicion is that this is quite frequent but it is well managed to keep the reputation of islam intact.
Somehow I doubt it worked.

“The director of a human rights group which sparked outrage after it called Jihadi John ‘a beautiful young man’ may have been involved in training him at a camp run by militants in Syria.
A Mail on Sunday investigation has uncovered evidence that appears to place Cage director and former Guantanamo Bay detainee Moazzam Begg at the same Syrian training camp as Mohammed Emwazi – the real name of Jihadi John – in late 2012.
Emwazi later joined Islamic State (ISIS) and began the murderous campaign which has seen the beheading of five Western hostages.
Official sources have confirmed to The Mail on Sunday the existence of a photograph of Mr Begg with a Syrian camp commander, who also appears in a video with a man believed to be Jihadi John, apparently taken at the same camp.
The picture was part of police evidence against Mr Begg in a trial last October at the Old Bailey, when he was charged with attending a terrorist training camp in Syria between October 2012 and April 2013.
In the photograph, Mr Begg is sitting around a table with Abu Omar Al-Shishani, who was then leader of the militant group Katibat Al-Muhajireen (KaM), and British jihadi Rabah Tahari with other militants, apparently sipping coffee. The photo was apparently taken at the group’s camp in Northern Syria in December 2012.
A source, who did not want to be named, said: ‘The picture definitely puts Begg in Syria. There were other individuals in the same photo, and they all looked like militants rather than ordinary people.’
The photograph was never produced in court and its existence has not been acknowledged until now.
The trial collapsed within days of opening, due to new evidence being given by MI5 to the Crown Prosecution Service which apparently made the likelihood of a conviction unlikely.
Months after Mr Begg’s photo with Al-Shishani was taken, a two-minute video was filmed of a masked man believed to be Emwazi, apparently at the same camp, also with Al-Shishani.
When approached last week, Mr Begg denied knowing Emwazi in Syria and denied being at the camp, before driving off from his £500,000 home in Birmingham…..”

“Ten US aid workers who were possibly exposed to Ebola are being evacuated back to America from Sierra Leone.
On Friday it was announced that a US aid worker back from Sierra Leone had tested positive and was being treated in hospital near Washington DC.
The evacuees may have been in contact with the Ebola patient and are being flown back on non-commercial transport.
The Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said none were currently showing Ebola symptoms.
They will stay in voluntary isolation for a 21-day incubation period. If any start to show symptoms they will be taken to one of three hospitals which are equipped to deal with Ebola cases….”
Egypt sacks 41 judges for supporting the Muslim Brotherhood
An Egyptian disciplinary court ordered 41 judges into compulsory retirement on Saturday for supporting the outlawed Muslim Brotherhood, judicial sources said, the latest move in a sweeping crackdown on political dissent.
The government has implemented a harsh crackdown on Islamists as well as secular political opponents since then army chief Abdel Fattah al-Sisi ousted Islamist President Mohamed Mursi in July 2013 following mass protests against his rule.
The Disciplinary Council headed by judge Nabil Zaki did not immediately release the reason for its decision, but the judicial sources said 31 of the judges were sent into compulsory retirement for signing a statement that condemned the removal of Mursi.
Another 10 were removed from their posts for joining “Judges for Egypt” group which used to be supportive of the Brotherhood even before Mursi’s removal, the sources added.
Egyptian law prohibits judges from engaging in politics, but critics and human rights groups say the judicial disciplinary court has turned a blind eye to judges who openly support the government of Sisi, who was elected president last year.
The government says the judiciary is independent and it never intervenes in its work.
“The decision is shocking and it is a massacre of the judges,” Ahmed El-Khatib, one of the punished judges told Reuters. He made no comment about whether he supported the Brotherhood.
The judges have the right to appeal against the decision.
Separately, security forces arrested 63 middle-level Brotherhood leaders who face charges of attacking police headquarters and inciting violence, the Interior Ministry said in a statement on Saturday.
Another 13 Brotherhood supporters were arrested on suspicion of possessing arms and ammunition, it added.
The government has banned the Brotherhood as a terrorist organisation, and Sisi says it is a threat to national security. The group says it is committed to peaceful activism.
Egyptian security forces face a militant insurgency that has killed hundreds of soldiers and police since Mursi was ousted.
The attacks are mostly concentrated in North Sinai, centre of an insurgency by militants seeking to topple the government.
But frequent small-scale attacks in Cairo and other regions have damaged Egypt’s efforts to project an image of stability after four years of turmoil triggered by the 2011 uprising that deposed veteran ruler Hosni Mubarak.
A homemade bomb wounded four people outside an HSBC bank branch east of the costal city of Alexandria on Saturday, security sources said.
The attack came on the second day of an investment conference in the resort of Sharm el-Sheikh, that Egypt hopes will project an image of stability and attract billions of dollars.

But there is the CBC doing its level best to lose the argument on behalf of Canadians trying to defend their communities, not least by using ‘Islamophobia’ repeatedly as though it were not an Islamic supremacist propaganda term cooked up to deride or silence legitimate criticism of Islam and advance the Islamic supremacist agenda. And the very existence of a sinister, Orwellian Ministry of Immigration, Diversity and Inclusiveness points to an uphill push for Quebeckers trying to slow the progress of the Blob.

Everyone that is willing to look at the facts in an unbiased fashion knows that the Clintons have been crooks for their entire public life, the fact that Hillary took foreign money to shift US foreign policy to help the payers should surprise on one. And the fact that she may have ignored the law when she left the State Department is also no surprise.
