2. BBC: Copenhagen attack cartoonist Lars Vilks wins award

(The BBC Headline would leave you thinking he did the attack and not that he was the victim/target of one. Which is the case)

A Swedish cartoonist who depicted the Prophet Muhammad as a dog has made his first public appearance since attending a debate that was targeted in a gun attack in Copenhagen last month. Lars Vilks received a prize for courage from a free press group, at a heavily secured event in the Danish parliament. His cartoon offended many Muslims and he now lives under guard in Sweden.

A radicalised gunman with gang links attacked the Copenhagen debate and a synagogue, killing two people.

Germany: Protesters attempt to block Salafist demo in Wuppertal

Hundreds of protesters tried to block access to a Salafist rally taking place in Wuppertal on Saturday, in an attempt to stop people from joining in. Salafist peacher Sven Lau, also known as Abu Adam, was among those speaking at the rally, which saw over 1,000 police deployed to keep peace between the demonstration and two counter-protests, as supporters of PEGIDA also took to the streets to march against the event.

12.  Vatican security chief says ISIS threat to pope is real

The Italian government went on high alert last week after threats from the Islamic State called Italy “the nation signed with the blood of the cross.”

The video threat, released with images of 21 Coptic Christians from Egypt who were beheaded this month, warned that Islamic State forces were “south of Rome,” in Libya. At its closest point, Libya is little more than 100 miles from the Italian islands of Sicily and Sardinia.

“The US embassy in the Saudi capital Riyadh has cancelled all consular services for Sunday and Monday due to “heightened security concerns”.

In a statement, the embassy said consular services in Riyadh, Jeddah and Dhahran would not be available.

It urged US citizens to take extra precautions when travelling in Saudi Arabia and to keep a low profile.

On Friday, the embassy warned that Western oil workers could be the target of militant attacks.

It said it had information that “individuals associated with a terrorist organisation” could be targeting people working in the oil-rich Eastern Province….”

“Fighting has been raging in Libya between Islamic State (IS) fighters and a militia alliance from the west of the country, near the city of Sirte.

A spokesman for militia brigades told the BBC that two of their men had been killed in the clashes.

Jihadists affiliated to Islamic State seized government buildings and a state radio station in Sirte last month.

“Two explosions hit a Christian community in Pakistan on Sunday, killing at least four people, an emergency services official said.

The Pakistani Taliban claimed responsibility for the attack.

The blasts went off in the Nishtar Colony area in the eastern Pakistani city of Lahore, according to rescue service duty officer Naseem Arif. He told CNN that a child and a police officer were among the dead.

It wasn’t immediately clear how many people were wounded in the explosions.”

    • PAKISTAN – 15 killed in Taliban attack on Lahore churches

LAHORE: At least 15 people were killed and more than 70 injured when two Taliban suicide bombers attacked churches in Lahore on Sunday, sparking mob violence in which two other suspected militants died.

The bombings occurred during prayers at two churches located around half a kilometre apart in the city’s Youhanabad neighbourhood that is home to more than 100,000 Christians, officials said.

Broken window panes, blood and shoes were scattered across the blast sites.

Police spokeswoman Nabila Ghazanfar said two policemen guarding the churches were among those killed in the attacks, while two people were beaten to death by protesters who took to the streets after the blasts.

“Policemen on duty at both the entrances tried to stop them but the bombers blew themselves up,” she told AFP.

The angry mob protesting after the blast beat to death two people whom they suspected of being associates of the attackers. An AFP photographer saw the bodies of the two suspected militants on fire after the beatings. It was not clear whether they were still alive at the time.

Up to 4,000 Christians later spread across the city’s streets; many were armed with clubs as they smashed vehicles and attacked a Metro bus station in a rare show of anger by the beleaguered minority.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan’s Jamaat-ul-Ahrar faction claimed responsibility for the attack.

  4. Nigeria: Boko Haram bomb factory uncovered in troubled northeast (CNN, March 14, 2015)
    http://edition.cnn.com/2015/03/14/africa/nigeria-boko-haram-bomb-factory/index.html

“Nigerian troops discovered a Boko Haram bomb factory this week after they seized a northern town from the extremists, the military said.

The factory was tucked inside a fertilizer company in Buni Yadi town in Yobe state, according to officials.

Islamist fighters took over the town in August, one of many seized in the troubled northeast. Troops have battled the militants for months to regain control, and said they recaptured it last week.

Militants planted explosive devices along the highway on their way out, which delayed the soldiers’ advance. Four soldiers were killed during the operation.

Soldiers have been scouring the factory and have found suicide bomber vests and improvised explosive devices, the military said Friday.

“Troops are still evacuating the materials … a large quantity of improvised explosive devices, including those commonly used by suicide bombers, were recovered from the site,” the military said in a statement…..”

  6. #5 Antisemitic disturbance at speech at University of Sydney

All over the Western World we have been teaching our children that direct violence is never appropriate under any circumstances and that pacifism is always the right answer. We teach them that if a bully calls them “fatso” it is not right to simply put the guy in a headlock and call him a “dickhead”, oh no, you have to run to the teacher like a little Nancy boy and get her to protect you. We have forgotten to teach them that the correct response to a group of Nazis crashing your lecture and taking away your human rights is to make like heros and start slamming some people up against some walls and turning some leftist pricks into racoons (black eyes). We don’t have to put up with any of this garbage – we are choosing to put up with it. Every male in that lecture hall is a pantywaist and a Nancy boy. The leftist teachers must be so proud…

If those same leftists tried the same thing at a university back in 1940, in a lecture hall full of the kids who defeated Adolf Hitler, they would have given the Marxist/Islamist brownshirts a good beating and chased them off the premises. Vigilantism is generally a bad thing, but on rare occasions it is exactly what is needed.

    • So accurate Chris, to identify the inability to defend their space. The self-disarmament of our population under the spectre of fear of Islam or Communism. Their permitted and forbidden thoughts received by a greater Authority.

If the gatecrashers were shouting about homosexual acts of abhorrence, the police would be called; if Mohammad were profaned, a Hate Crime reported; these students even get certificate rewards for full class attendance.

Their minds are paralysed – learning by memorization and practicing modules by rote.

      Q. How should the rich man gain eternal life?
      A. Give all his wealth to the poor so he doesn’t have it on his mind anymore.

Why not simply change his attitude to get over the envy-pride of wealth: of having anxiety over having too little before those who have more, then bragging before those who have less?

Throwing it all away does not remove your problem with it and you will be a deliberate failure all your life. Attractive will be the promises of utopias that speak of instant replacement seven-fold where money isn’t needed and so doesn’t exist. But now you’ve got involved in a new hell of having too much individuality, so that is stripped off you too, to look alike and sound alike. Now you invade lectures about the prosperity and democracy of Israel as evil because you wouldn’t survive in it.

  7. INDIA – Mosques not religious place, can be destroyed any time : Subramanian Swamy

BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has sparked off a massive controversy by saying that mosque is not a religious place but is merely a building that can be demolished any time.

Swamy made these controversial statements in a programme at Guwahati. Swamy’s comments have attracted condemnation from all political parties. Even Assam BJP has disassociated themselves from Swamy’s remark.

According to HT, Swamy gave the “example” of mosques demolished for construction of roads in Saudi Arabia. The controversial leader said, “A mosque is not a religious place. It is just a building. It can be demolished any time. If anyone disagrees with me on this, I am ready to have a debate on the issue. I got this information from people of Saudi Arabia”. He stoked another controversy by claiming all Indian Muslims were Hindus. He repeated the controversial comments again on Saturday.

Police have now registered a case registered an FIR under IPC sections 120 (B) [criminal conspiracy] and 153 (A) [promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion] against Swamy following a formal complaint by Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti (KMSS).

KMSS has urged Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi to ban Swamy’s entry into the state. HT has quoted Tarun Gogoi as saying, “BJP will have to pay a heavy price for hurting Assamese sentiments”.

The state BJP is in backfoot as Swamy’s comments have evoked sharp reaction from all quarters. Assam BJP president Siddhartha Bhattacharyya has branded Swamy’s comment as his personal opinion. He said that they will send the footage to Central leadership.

Several minority organisations have also demanded strict action against Swamy. It’s not the first time Swamy has made a controversial statement though. From Sashi Tharoor to Sonia Gandhi, Swamy has targeted one and all.
