1. Saudi Arabia demands more protection from criticism for islam

The President of the Saudi Human Rights Commission and head of the Saudi delegation in Geneva, Dr. Bandar bin Mohammed Al-Aiban, addressed the 28th session of the Human Rights Council meeting in that city. During his speech, Al-Aiban called for redoubling efforts to address the growing phenomenon of defamation of religions and religious symbols.

“As part of the overall framework to develop the judiciary system and promote human rights, a royal order was recently issued calling for the formation of an ad hoc committee to prepare a draft code of judicial verdicts based on the Islamic jurisprudence, as well as bylaws for a revised criminal procedures system,” Al-Aiban explained. “The bylaws include special executive provisions for arrest procedures of defendants, as well as procedures for searching individuals

(The Saudis nearly certainly mean both the Cairo human rights declaration in islam, as well as that we will not understand it that way)

2. Libya oil fields of Bahi and Mabruk ‘seized by militants’

Forces guarding the Bahi and Mabruk sites retreated after running out of ammunition.

It is not clear which group seized the oil fields. Libya’s internationally recognised government in Tobruk and its rivals Libya Dawn also conducted air strikes on each other’s positions. Libya has been without an effective government since Muammar Gaddafi was ousted in 2011.

(What happened to Gaddafi again? Oh yeah Obama)

3. Ottawa Parliament Hill jihadi’s martyrdom video to be released today. (The CBC is already busy attacking the Harper Government so that the video will have less effect on people once they see it)

5. Islamic State video showing screaming mustard yelling about the destruction of a building as if it was a massive accomplishment. The chants are better than usual though. Sort of Caribbean.

6. Mosque in Montreal’s St-Laurent borough faces eviction over zoning issue

Mosque named after a thousand years of Islamic oppression of the Spanish

A popular mosque in Montreal’s Saint-Laurent borough is facing fines of up to $1,000 a day if it refuses to heed an eviction notice, CBC’s French-language service Radio-Canada has learned.

According to borough authorities, the Al Andalous Islamic Center, which hosts about 1,000 worshippers for Friday prayers at its Décarie Boulevard location, has been operating primarily as a place of worship where zoning prohibits it.

The Association des Sciences Islamiques au Canada, the non-profit organization which manages the mosque, says it first applied for a permit in 2012.

‘We warned them that they were not in the right place and had to find another one,’- Alan DeSousa, Mayor of Saint-Laurent

In its application, the association said the place of worship was “born of a need in the community, as the presence of Muslims in the borough is growing year by year.”

The application was rejected in May 2013, and an eviction notice was served.

7. UK watchdog bans Jerusalem travel advert

The UK advertising watchdog has banned an Israeli government tourism advert for “misleading consumers” by suggested that the Old City of Jerusalem was part of Israel.

8. Here is a link to a site with the video of the jihadi who killed an army Corporal in Ottawa and then attacked Parliament Hill. It is a fairly banal mixture of the usual islamic nonsense coupled with pre-Caliphate justification for defensive jihad.

(There may be 18 seconds missing from the video)

9. Honduran making false bomb threat at MIA to appear in federal court

A Honduran woman accused of making a false bomb threat at Miami International Airport will face charges in federal court on Friday afternoon

Julissa Magdalena Maradiaga-Iscoa attempted to drive her vehicle through the airport entrance, crashed her car into a Miami-Dade Police patrol car and screamed at officers in what was believed to be Arabic and then, in English — all before falsely claiming she had a bomb, according to authorities.

Miami-Dade police turned over the case to the FBI, which confirmed the federal charges against the 33-year-old Honduran citizen.

“At this time there appears to be no nexus to terrorism,” FBI special agent Michael Leverock said in a statement.

(LOL!)
Thank you Tundra Tabloids, Wrath of Khan, Richard, Draculea, and all who sent in materials. Much more to come and even more for things that haven’t happened yet but at this stage, certainly will.

“The Kingdom recently confirmed its commitment to promote and protect human rights as per the principles of Shariah law, with a especial emphasis on security, stability, and prosperity. Authorities consider these are essential factors to support sustainable development and ensure human rights are protected through sound laws and regulations.”

Isn’t that a honey of a paragraph? That’s what we’re dealing with these days, folks. Isn’t it great the way they can make that fascist drivel come off like the Bill of Human Rights? The art of lying has come a long way. Kind of reminds one of Susan Rice and Marie Harf and Valerie Jarrett, doesn’t it…

  2. 200,000 illegals deported in 120 days (arabnews, March 6, 2015)
    http://www.arabnews.com/featured/news/714306

“More than 200,000 foreigners have been deported over the first four months of 1436 AH, which started on Oct. 25, for violating the Kingdom’s residency and labor regulations, sources said.
According to figures released by the Passport Department recently, 58,710 illegal expatriates were deported in the first month of Muharram (Oct. 25 to Nov. 22), 63,762 in Safar (Nov. 23 to Dec. 22) and 59,569 in Rabi Al-Awwal (Dec. 23 to Jan. 20).

Maj. Gen. Khalafallah Al-Tuwaireqi, director of the Passports Department in Makkah region, said more than 41,000 violators have been deported in the fourth month of Rabi Al-Thani from this region alone.

“The deportees included different nationalities,” said Al-Tuwaireqi, adding that the deportations took place from Jan. 21 to March 3. Every day the department deports 1,500 to 2,000 violators, he said.
Meanwhile, the police in Madinah and Baha arrested 6,654 illegal workers last month, senior officials confirmed on Thursday.

According to security spokesman Col. Fahd Al-Ghannam, the Madinah raids included several neighborhoods, with 5,389 people arrested. A total of 48,773 people have now been arrested in the region since the campaign began.

Last month, the police in the Baha region arrested 1,267 expats who violated regulations, said Col. Saad bin Saleh Al-Tarrad, media spokesman for the region’s police.

The officials said that the workers had flouted the country’s work and residency laws and would now face prosecution and deportation at the expense of the government.

They said the raids would continue in the regions, including operations to apprehend criminals involved in theft, sorcery and brewing liquor.

Security agencies have, meanwhile, stepped up preparations to carry out the second phase of a major campaign to flush out illegal aliens as part of efforts to strengthen the country’s security and create jobs for citizens…..”

    • This article needs to be bookmarked for frequent reference when the political tide shifts to the West’s favor. When that day comes, mass deportations will become the order of the day to hysterical claims such moves are unprecedented and unwarranted. Be prepared.

  5. IS Group Erasing History, Culture in Syria, Iraq (abcnews, March 6, 2015)
    http://abcnews.go.com/International/wireStory/group-erasing-history-culture-syria-iraq-29438940

” The Islamic State group’s destruction of the ancient city of Nimrud in northern Iraq is part of a systematic campaign to destroy archaeological sites it says promote apostasy.

Some of the world’s most precious cultural treasures, including ancient sites in the cradle of civilization, are in areas controlled by the group and at the mercy of extremists bent on wiping out all non-Islamic culture and history.

The rampage, targeting priceless cultural artifacts often spanning thousands of years, has sparked global outrage and accusations of war crimes. The militants are also believed to be selling ancient artifacts on the black market in order to finance their bloody campaign across the region.

Here’s a look at some of the major sites destroyed by IS in Iraq and Syria, and others under their control:

    IRAQ

The region under IS control in Iraq has nearly 1,800 of Iraq’s 12,000 registered archaeological sites. Among the most important sites under the militants’ control are four ancient cities — Ninevah, Nimrud, Dur Sharrukin and Ashur — which were at different times the capital of the mighty Assyrian Empire.

    ———

NIMRUD: In the 9th century B.C., Nimrud, also known as Kalhu, became the second capital of Assyria, an ancient kingdom that came to rule much of present-day Iraq and the Levant and became a great regional power. The city, which was destroyed in 612 B.C., is located on the Tigris River just south of Iraq’s second largest city, Mosul, which was captured by the IS group in June. The late 1980s discovery of treasures in Nimrud’s royal tombs was one of the 20th century’s most significant archaeological finds. The government said militants destroyed the site this week using heavy military vehicles, but has not elaborated on the extent of the damage.

    ———

MOSUL MUSEUM: On Feb. 26, a video emerged on militant websites showing Islamic State militants with sledgehammers destroying ancient artifacts at the museum in Mosul which they referred to as idols. They also destroyed Nirgal Gate, one of several gates to Ninevah, the onetime capital of the Assyrian Empire.

    ———

MOSUL LIBRARIES: In January, Islamic State militants ransacked the Central Library of Mosul, smashing the locks and taking around 2,000 books — leaving only Islamic texts. Days later, militants broke into the University of Mosul’s library. They made a bonfire out of hundreds of books on science and culture, destroying them in front of students.

    ———

SHRINES: Last year, militants destroyed the centuries-old Mosque of the Prophet Younis — believed to be the burial place of the Prophet Jonah — and the Mosque of the Prophet Jirjis, two revered ancient shrines in Mosul. They also threatened to destroy Mosul’s 850-year old Crooked Minaret, but residents surrounded the structure to protect it.

    ———

HATRA: The militants control the 2,300-year-old city of Hatra, a well preserved complex of temples south of Mosul and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Experts say large statues from Hatra have been destroyed or defaced.

The Islamic State group has overrun most of the east and large parts of the north, putting a string of major archaeological sites in their hands. The militants have pillaged sites, excavated others and have destroyed several relics and Assyrian-era statues as part of their purge of paganism. The destruction they have wreaked adds to the wider, extensive damage done to ancient sites including Palmyra, as well as mosques and churches across the country in the chaos of the civil war.

    ———

DURA EUROPOS: The 2,300-year-old city overlooking the Euphrates River is a remarkably well-preserved cultural crossroads, a city first founded by Alexander the Great’s successors and later ruled by the Romans and various Persian empires. It boasts pagan temples, churches and one of the earliest known Jewish synagogues. Satellite imagery taken last year show the site pockmarked with holes from pillaging and illegal digs. It also showed hundreds of people conducting illegal excavations.

    ———

MARI: An ancient city located on the site of Tell Hariri on the western bank of the Euphrates River in Deir el-Zour province. It is believed to have been inhabited since the 5th millennium B.C. and was discovered in the early 1930s. It has also been severely looted by IS.

    ———

TEL AJAJI AND TELL BRAK: Prehistoric settlement mounds in Syria’s far eastern Hassakeh province. Experts say both have been looted and destroyed, Artifacts have been removed from both sites, and ancient statues — some dating back to the Assyrian period — have been smashed.”

Rape suspect dragged out of Indian jail, killed by mob (CNN, March 6, 2015)
    http://edition.cnn.com/2015/03/06/asia/india-nagaland-rape-suspect-mob-killing/index.html

“A mob, consisting of thousands of people, stormed a prison compound in India’s far northeast, dragging out a rape suspect before beating him to death on the streets on Thursday, authorities say.

Police say they tried to stave off the mob with tear gas and opened fire, killing one person.

The crowd targeted a 35-year-old suspect, identified as an undocumented Bangladeshi settler, who died of his injuries before officers could rescue him, said L.L. Doungal, the director-general of police in the remote Nagaland state, where the attack took place.

The mob that broke into the main jail in the state’s Dimapur district was comprised of “thousands” of people, Doungal told CNN. “Many of them were students in uniform,” he said.

The suspect was accused of raping a local woman on February 23.

Tensions between the native Naga and undocumented Bangladeshi migrants in the district have been simmering for some time, police said….”

Prevent strategy: Is it failing to stop radicalisation? (BBC, March 6, 2015)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-31756755

“Teenage schoolgirls from East London absconding to join Islamic State in Syria, 3,000-plus Europeans already in their ranks, and an endless stream of persuasive, slickly-produced online videos pouring into young people’s computers and smartphones.

There are ample grounds for thinking that, in the propaganda war for the hearts and minds of young Muslims, governments are failing to stop their message getting through.

Here in the UK, a key part of the government’s counter-terrorism strategy is called Prevent.

It is a programme aimed at stopping more people getting drawn towards violent extremism. But given the current trends listed above, is it failing?

“Of course it is failing,” says Aminul Hoque, a lecturer and author on British Islamic identity at the University of London.

“As a strategy, as a government policy document, it has not worked. The irony is that it has become counter-productive.

“If the idea was to understand the roots of extremism, the roots of radicalisation, by putting a magnifying glass across the Muslim communities of Great Britain, what has happened is that has widened the schism between the ‘Muslim’ us and the British ‘other’.”

The Home Office, not surprisingly, disputes this view.

“We made sure Prevent would tackle all forms of terrorism, not just Islamist-related terrorism,” their spokesman told me, adding that the programme was given a major overhaul in 2011.

The problem is that regardless of best intentions, if the programme is widely perceived as being discriminatory then it inevitably runs the risk of failure.
    Strategy strands

With an annual budget of £40m, the Prevent programme is one of four strands of CONTEST, the acronym given to the government’s multi-pronged counter-terrorism strategy.

The other strands are Pursue, Prepare and Protect.

Of these four strands it is the most controversial and arguably the least successful. Its stated aim is to stop people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.

Yet in the 12 years since its inception, the number of UK suspects coming to the attention of the police and security service has ballooned into the thousands.

Unlike Pursue, where success can be measured to some degree by the number of arrests and convictions, Prevent is a less clearly defined area that overlaps into sensitive areas like community cohesion.

The Home Office says there are now Prevent programmes in place in all key sectors, including local government, health, education, prisons, immigration and charities.

Since 2011, a team dedicated to removing extremist material from the internet has taken down over 75,000 pieces of “unlawful terrorist material”.

The government says it has worked with over 250 mosques and 50 faith groups, distributing over 200,000 leaflets and posters in five languages warning people not to travel to Syria.

It also refers people to the “Channel programme”, a de-radicalisation process that uses psychologists, social workers and religious experts to help counsel thousands of people considered vulnerable to extremist ideas.

Some have been stopped literally as they were about to board a plane heading to Syria.

Hannah Stuart, research fellow at the Henry Jackson Society, a right-wing think-tank in London, says Prevent has had its successes but they are hard to quantify.

“There have been more incidents recently with community centres reporting their concerns to the police and agencies. We have seen potential incidents of terrorism stopped,” she says.

“It is the messages we need to challenge… whether that is online or on the streets… we need to be equipping our young people with the critical thinking to assess those messages to be able to challenge them.”

Dr Matthew Wilkinson, director of the think-tank Curriculum for Cohesion and an expert on Islamic ideology, believes part of the solution lies in better religious education.

“A very unhealthy gap has developed between the quality and status of religious education in schools because it is often a marginal subject.

“So for example, you get a statistic where 89% of British Muslim youngsters see Islam as their main identifier but RE is the least popular subject. So that speaks of a huge gap which RE is not filling in to create a proper place for young people.”

Dr Wilkinson, whose expertise in Islamic theology has been used in 11 recent legal cases, is of the same view as the author Aminul Hoque when it comes to the success or failure of Prevent.

The government’s counter-terrorism strategy has been remarkably successful at the level of security and the basic protection of British citizens, he says, with any number of plots foiled and people brought to justice.

But at the level of affecting hearts and minds for the better? “Prevent,” he says, “has been largely unsuccessful.””

  8. The title for this thread “Islam grows so long as it can steal and extort: links 2 on March 6 – 2015” begs to have this quote from the recommended book listed on the right hand column of this page “Islam Through the Looking Glass” (chapter 2, Pg. 32) posted as a comment. Posted initially in “The New Republic” on July 26, 1980:

“The nerveless acquiescence of the Western nations in the frequency of oil price rises since the Tehran confrontation of 1971 has been prompted in the main by the hope that the acquiescence will gain them security of oil supplies. It will, of course, do nothing of the kind. All that continual surrender does is to strengthen the financial weapon in the economic armory of the Middle Eastern oil states. But there are even more insidious dangers to the West in the inexorable accumulation of great wealth by these states than the threat to its economic health. Because this wealth has been obtained without effort on the part of the states in question, it has had a profoundly corrupting influence upon their governments and upon numbers of their subjects, a corruption made all the more inevitable by the nature of Arab and Iranian society. As greater riches are amassed, the process of corruption will intensify, hastening the spread of instability in Arabia, Iran and the Gulf. It is doubtful whether at an time in the history of mankind a group of intrinsically insignificant polities, at a comparatively primitive stage of economic, political, and social development, has possessed such enormous financial power as the handful of Gulf states now dispose of. As the governments of the Gulf states are moved to employ this power for political and other purposes abroad, the corruption will spread beyond the Gulf, influencing and disturbing governments and societies in lands far removed from them in customs, culture and religion.
It is beyond our scope here to examine at any length the injurious effects of Arab and Iranian oil money upon the West. That the contagion already has entered the body of the West can be confirmed by the merest glance. It is present in financial and commercial circles, though its workings are rarely exposed to public view. It has penetrated politics and government, especially in Britain, France and the United States, where the spectacle of high-ranking ministers, officials, and politicians wheedling, flattering, and fawning upon the plutocrats of Arabia and Iran has become a daily occurrence. To the Western public, growing increasingly uneasy and dejected at the progress of the contagion, it is glibly explained by their rulers and by those in public life to whom they look for instruction and guidance that the contagion does not exist; or if it does, that it is benign; or if it is not benign, then there is nothing to be done about it.”

    Déjà vu – sigh.

    • “…To the Western public, growing increasingly uneasy and dejected at the progress of the contagion, it is glibly explained by their rulers and by those in public life to whom they look for instruction and guidance that the contagion does not exist; or if it does, that it is benign; or if it is not benign, then there is nothing to be done about it.”

Recently even the formerly (I thought) gutsy Angela Merkel has behaved like the most vulgar bully against her own people (PEGIDA) and has come out of the closet as the German whore for the Mullah of the Mullahs whose “investment” extend, I understand, into the bowels of the Deutsche Bank. As to the real Estate they own in Paris, one can say, without exagerating “Paris on the -insert whatever river these ‘Royals’ washed their dirty feet in, not so long ago.

I have dismissed the folks who believed the lies of their “leaders” all too easily as “sheep” who deserve the leaders they vote for, but, getting up my hopes with the courageous PEGIDA, and having them dashed again by the old Stasi, I fear we are fast approaching “…there is nothing to be done about it..”

That extract is well worth reading.

    • Brilliant and prescient and depressing, but if there is any good news in that forecast, it might be this: ‘As greater riches are amassed, the process of corruption will intensify, hastening the spread of instability in Arabia, Iran and the Gulf.’

That is what happened, and Gulf rulers have largely failed to lift their societies out of their ’comparatively primitive stage of economic, political, and social development’ even to the extent that they were really trying. They can’t. As long as they are saddled with Islam, such an old and heavy weight of it, those polities are stuck. They remain tribal. The institutions the West helped them build up, built for them essentially, are hollow. They still depend on slave labour. The strengths of their societies are traditional and turn them inward. They have only been able to penetrate and undermine our societies because we allowed it.

Iran blinds man in ‘eye for an eye’ justice (CNN, March 6, 2015)
    http://edition.cnn.com/2015/03/06/middleeast/iran-eye-for-an-eye/index.html

“Iran’s judicial system believes in the ancient concept of “an eye for an eye” — literally. On Tuesday, a man convicted of blinding another man in an acid attack was himself forcibly blinded in one eye, according to Amnesty International and Tasnim News, a semi-official news website. The punishment is believed to be Iran’s first case of Qasas, meaning retribution in kind, Tasnim News said. Amnesty International denounced the sentence.

“This punishment exposes the utter brutality of Iran’s justice system and underlines the Iranian authorities’ shocking disregard for basic humanity,” said Raha Bahreini, Amnesty International’s Iran researcher. “Meting out cruel and inhuman retribution punishments is not justice. Blinding, like stoning, amputation and flogging, is a form of corporal punishment prohibited by international law. Such punishments should not be carried out under any circumstances.”

The acid attacker had been hired by the victim’s wife to throw acid in his face, Tasnim News said. Amnesty International said the attack occurred in 2009 in the city of Qom…”
