2. Germany: Detentions, arrest in connection with Islamist threat in Bremen

Fearing an Islamist attack, police in Germany’s northern port city of Bremen have swooped after adopting “security measures in the public arena.” Apart from detentions and an arrest, an Islamic center was searched.

Deutschland Polizei in Bremen

Federal authorities had been receiving tip-offs since Friday evening about the activities of potential Islamists, the police said, without clarifying whether it was a terrorist threat.

People in Bremen were said to have remained relaxed despite the apparent threat. A Bundesliga match between Werder Bremen and Wolfsburg at the Weser stadium went ahead as planned.

3. Online campaign nets $20,000 for Quebec woman told to remove hijab in court

(She can buy a really nice new car for that!)

A crowdfunding campaign in support of a Quebec woman who was refused her day in court because she was wearing a hijab has raised more than $20,000 in its first day.

Two Vancouver residents launched the campaign on Friday to help Rania El-Alloul buy a car.

It’s in response to a judge’s refusal to hear her case against the Quebec automotive insurance board, which had seized her vehicle.

5. Pentagon Scrubs Major Attack on ISIS

Just days ago, the generals were trumpeting plans to knock ISIS out of its most important stronghold in Iraq. Now, those plans are on indefinite hold.

The U.S. military’s goal to retake Iraq’s second largest city from the self-proclaimed Islamic State has been pushed back several months at least, defense officials told The Daily Beast. That’s a major shift for the Pentagon, which recently announced that the first major ground offensive in the war against ISIS could come in the next few weeks.

The cleric will be transferred to the court for sentencing and it is not clear whether he is going to be released or put in jail, the website said.

In a recent interview with Norwegian TV station NRK, Mullah Krekar expressed happiness  over the January 7 Paris attack on Charlie Hebdo magazine, and called on the youth of Norway to go to Syria.

7. Australia: ‘I will take the honour in beheading you’: Senator Jacqui Lambie receives vile threatening letter

Terrorists threaten Senator Jacquie Lambie with beheading unless she helps introduce sharia law

POLICE are investigating a poison pen letter claiming that terrorists plan to behead Tasmanian Senator Jacquie Lambie unless she helps introduce sharia law in Australia.

The letter warns that “you are the enemy of Islamic State, therefore, I will take the honour in beheading you”.

It includes graphic images of a man having his head sliced off by a knife.

Her office conceded the letter could be a fake threat, linked to opponents of a new mosque in Adelaide, but said that they were taking the threat seriously and had referred the matter to the Australian Federal Police.

It claims to have been prepared by the “Adelaide Islamic State Mujahideen” and makes references to plans to build a mosque in Adelaide, suggesting that the development would represent a celebration of Lindt gunman Haron Monis’s efforts to expand the Islamic State’s philosophy.

  1. 7/ ‘Is it sharia law or a misguided interpretation of sharia law?’ Someone needs to smack that reporter up the side of the head. Good for Jacquie Lambie for insisting on clarity.

  2. 3/ Boundless arrogance. “The most important is to get respect,” she said. “I gave her respect. She didn’t give me my respect…” Who does this Judge Marengo think she is, someone in a position to judge? Her bench is probably higher than every other seat in the courtroom too. It’s outrageous.

  3. All In One pdf Important Hadith Books Eng-Arabic DarusSalam Publication

    https://archive.org/details/AllInOneSahihMuslimEngArabicDarusalam

Free downloads of the big five (plus this one or that one to make six) all in the same place. Volumes are strung together in long pdf files making them a bit awkward, but it does mean that an entire collection can be searched for key words, like ‘urine of camels’ say.

Sahih Bukhari, collected by Imam Bukhari (d. 256 AH, 870 CE), includes 7,275 ahadith

Sahih Muslim, collected by Muslim b. al-Hajjaj (d. 261 AH, 875 CE), includes 9,200 ahadith

Sunan Abu Dawood, collected by Abu Dawood (d. 275 AH, 888 CE), includes 4,800 ahadith

    Jami al-Tirmidhi, collected by al-Tirmidhi (d. 279 AH, 892 C.E)

    Sunan al-Sughra, collected by al-Nasa’i (d. 303 AH, 915 CE)

    Either:

Sunan ibn Majah, collected by Ibn Majah (d. 273 AH, 887 CE)

Muwatta Malik, collected by Imam Malik (d. 179 AH, 795 CE)

    • Sample search result for ‘urine of camels’ in Sahih Bukhari:

      (66) CHAPTER. (What is said) about the urine of camels, sheep and other animals and about their folds.

      233. Narrated Abu Qilaba: Anas said, “Some people of ‘Ukl or ‘Uraina tribe came to Al-Madina and its climate did not suit them. So the Prophet ordered them to go to the herd of (milch) camels and to drink their milk and urine (as a medicine). So they went as directed and after they became healthy, they killed the shepherd of the Prophet, and drove away all the camels. The news reached the Prophet early in the morning and he sent (men) in their pursuit and they were captured and brought at noon. He then ordered to cut their hands and feet (and it was done), and their eyes were branded with heated pieces of iron. They were put in Al-Uarra and when they asked for water, no water was given to them.”

Abu Qilaba added, “Those people committed theft, murder, became disbelievers after embracing Islam (Murtadin) and fought against Allah and His Messenger.

        • It gets worse. Here’s a search result for ‘houri’ in Sunan ibn Majah:

4337. It was narrated from Abu Umamah that the Messenger of Allah said: “There is no one whom Allah will admit to Paradise but will marry him to seventy-two wives, two from houris and seventy from his inheritance from the people of Hell, all of whom will have desirable front passages and he will have a male member that never becomes flaccid (i.e., soft and limp).”‘

The hadith is “da’if” though, meaning weak.

        • What impresses about this material is that it doesn’t really matter where you get into it, after not very much looking around you find something sick. As many have often said here, if only people would read the Koran and the rest of it. It’s all there, plain as day.

          • The vast majority of people don’t want to think for themselves, they want others to tell them what to do.

  5. Turkish President Erdo?an slams Austria’s controversial Islam law

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an strongly criticized Austria on Feb 28 for approving a controversial bill that revises the status of Muslims in the European country

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an strongly criticized Austria on Feb. 28 for approving a controversial bill that revises the status of Muslims in the European country.

“On the one hand you tell about the EU acquis, but on the other hand you take steps which totally oppose the EU acquis,” Erdo?an said at a meeting in Istanbul before his departure to Saudi Arabia for an official visit.

According to the Europa portal, the community acquis or acquis is “the body of common rights and obligations which bind all the member states together within the European Union… Applicant countries have to accept the Community acquis before they can join the Union.”

The Austrian Parliament passed a law on Feb. 25, stirring a debate.

The updated “Law on Islam,” which was prepared by the coalition of the Social Democratic Party and the People’s Party, aims to regulate how Islam is managed inside the country, and includes provisions requiring imams to be able to speak German, standardizing the Quran in the German language, and banning Islamic organizations from receiving foreign funding.

Turkey will make every effort to protect Muslims in Austria, especially those of Turkish descent, from being harmed due to a controversial recently approved bill regulating Islam in the country, Turkey’s EU minister said on Feb. 26.

“We cannot accept any harm to Muslims because of this law and we will make every effort to prevent such harm,” Minister Volkan Bozk?r told Anadolu Agency during a visit to Finland’s capital, Helsinki.

The president also referred to the recent incidents of Islamophobia and biases against Muslims in the West, especially Europe, “The incidents are shifting to a different ground. We have to stop these biases.”

Islam has been an official religion in Austria since 1912.

The Islam law, known as “Islam Gesetz,” was introduced by Austria’s last emperor, Franz Josef, after the Austro-Hungarian Empire annexed Bosnia-Herzegovina.

  6. Former employee suing Costco for religious discrimination

    NEW YORK (WABC) —
A man is suing Costco for religious discrimination.

He tells Eyewitness News exclusively that when he refused to work with pork, the major retailer sent him outside to gather carts.

“Just because you have a different belief, that doesn’t give anybody the right to treat you different,” said Jean Camara, suing Costco.

That’s why Jean Camara says he’s doing what he’s doing, suing Costco for religious employment discrimination.

The devout Muslim says he was working as a cashier’s assistant at the Costco in Sunset Park Brooklyn in September of 2012 when pork came across the conveyor belt.

It’s against his religious beliefs to touch either pork or alcohol.

Camara says after telling his managers this, they transferred him outside collecting the shopping carts.

Camara says they never told him why he was reassigned.

“I think that as the case progresses in the trial we are in now, I think the facts are going to come out and they’re going to speak for themselves,” said Chauncey Henry, Camara’s attorney.

Camara says he asked his managers if he could work in the electronics department, but his requests were repeatedly denied.

He ended up filing a human rights complaint against the company.

16 days later, he was fired for insubordinate conduct.

“We all share different beliefs so we all should be treated equally no matter what belief we have,” Camara said.

“It’s not OK to discriminate against someone for their religion. It isn’t OK. It isn’t OK to treat them differently others because of what they believe in. I think that everyone is entitled to the same treatment. I think that’s what this case is about,” Henry said.
