1. Radical imam could open community centre in Montreal

(Media still clings to the ‘radical’ prefix with velcro. But even ‘radical islam’ takes guts these days)

In the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough, officials are taking a closer look at a permit request from an Islamic community centre after learning the imam who’ll be working with young people there has some radical views.

The mayor of Hoshelaga Maisonneuve told La Presse the centre has not received their permit to open yet and they are evaluating it closely.

Imam Hamza Chaoui would like to teach the youth at the new Ashabeb centre.

(Point De Bascule has a lot on this guy)

2.Cologne carnival organizers cancel Charlie Hebdo float

(Once again, proving that none of those marching bozos were really Charlie now were they?)

Cologne’s Rose Monday Carnival procession will not feature a Charlie Hebdo-themed float. The parade’s committee member said they pulled the feature over concerns about its inclusion in February’s festival.

Drawing of suggested Charlie Hebdo float

Cologne’s Rose Monday Carnival parade draws hundreds of thousands to the city each year and many of its floats are derived from current affairs and are often political in nature.

Following the deadly attack on the satirical magazine “Charlie Hebdo” in Paris on January 7, which were widely seen as an attack on the freedom of expression organizers of the Cologne Carnival parade decided to create a float as show of support.

Now organizers confirmed that they have decided to cancel the float because of security concerns.

3. Trifecta video: Much like the guy at 4:25. He calls it what it actually is. A heretical act today.

4. MEMRI clip: Muslim Brotherhood TV channels put out call to kill Al Sisi

5. Indonesian supporters of Islamic State hold rally

Thank you Draculea, M., Don C., Buck, Richard and all. More to come I’m pretty sure. An interesting article from Morocco as soon as its translated.

  1. Hello there…….its me again……..Don Laird…..

I wonder whose side God is on now?……

This is an interesting clip from the closing segments of the movie “God on Trial”.

A group of prisoners in Auschwitz, awaiting death, decide to put God on trial.

This segment can be described as “God is not good…….”

    Thought provoking.

  4. Egyptian state TV says 20 killed, 36 wounded in simultaneous attacks on police, military targets in the Sinai Peninsula

EL-ARISH, Egypt (AP) — Militants struck more than a dozen army and police targets in the restive Sinai Peninsula with simultaneous attacks involving a car bomb and mortar rounds on Thursday, killing at least 25 people, including civilians, officials said.

An Islamic State affiliate previously known as Ansar Beit al-Maqdis has launched several attacks against the police and the army in Sinai in recent years, particularly following the military overthrow of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi in 2013.

But the wide-ranging attacks late Thursday, which struck the Northern Sinai provincial capital el-Arish, the nearby town of Sheik Zuwayid and the town of Rafah bordering Gaza, indicate a previously unseen level of coordination.

The officials said Thursday’s attacks included at least one car bomb set off outside a military base and mortar rounds fired at a hotel, a police club and more than a dozen checkpoints. At least 36 people were wounded in the attack, according to medical officials, who also confirmed the death toll.

Officials said the death toll is expected to rise after the military base hit by the car bomb was also struck by mortars that destroyed buildings inside the camp, burying people under the rubble.

All officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak to the press.

The state news agency MENA said more than one car bomb was used in the attacks, without elaborating.

The explosions smashed windows and shook residential areas in el-Arish.

The areas where the attacks took place have been under a state of emergency and a curfew since October, when militants killed dozens of soldiers in a deadly attack on a checkpoint in Sinai.

In an attempt to stop weapons smuggling to and from the Gaza Strip, authorities demolished houses and residential buildings located within 500 meters of the border, where a complex network of tunnels had long been used to bring consumer goods, as well as weapons and fighters, to and from the Palestinian territory.

Ansar Beit al-Maqdis was initially inspired by al-Qaida, but last year it pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, which controls large parts of Syria and Iraq.

  5. Surprise!

The U.S. military and intelligence community now suspect that one of the five Taliban detainees released from Guantanamo Bay in return for Sgt Bowe Bergdahl in May of last year has attempted to return to militant activity from his current location in Qatar, CNN has learned exclusively. The development has led to an ongoing debate inside the administration about whether there is a new threat from this man, and potentially the other four.
