1. The Hollywood Jihad Against American Sniper

(Daniel Greenfield details the culture war against the first film in a long time that takes a non-postmodern view of America and the ethics of war. This is important as it was this type of attack on the culture via Hollywood and universities which has put us where we are now)

An Iraq War movie was supposed to be an anti-war movie. There was no other way to tell the story. Spielberg’s own interest in American Sniper was focused on “humanizing” the other side. When he left and Clint Eastwood, coming off a series of failed films, took the helm, it was assumed that American Sniper would briefly show up in theaters and then go off to die quietly in what was left of the DVD aisle. And then American Sniper broke box office records that had been set by blockbusters like Avatar, Passion and Hangover Part II by refusing to demonize American soldiers or to spin conspiracy tales about the war. Instead of pandering to coastal progressives, it aimed at the patriotic heartland.

[…]
Instead audiences chose to see a movie about how great Americans can be even in difficult times. There’s nothing that threatens the left as much as that.

2. Remember the article posted recently about media deception and in fact it was itself a piece of media deception about PEGIDA and its personalities?

Here are some facts about the marches

16:20 hrs: The official number of participants according to police spokesman Thomas Geithner is 17,000! At the counterdemonstration of ‘Dresden Nazifrei’, ‘Kehraus’ and ‘Dresden für alle’ it is supposed to have been 5,000”

(So it appears that the counter demonstrators do not always outnumber the PEGIDA. In fact I bet they nearly never do)

3. Geert Wilders on today’s PEGIDA march

“Dresden is Leading the Way”

From Geert Wilders:

My dear friends in Dresden,
What is taking place here in Dresden is truly fabulous. Dresden is leading the way. All of Europe is watching you. You are not alone. You are part of something huge. In Germany, in Holland, in all of Europe. You are fulfilling the hope of many. You are the voice of the population against the elite. You are the people!

People in Germany have had enough.
People in Holland have had enough.
In all of Europe, people have had enough.

Enough of terror and hatred.
Enough of attacks, enough of bloodshed.
Enough of Islamization, which betrays our Judeo-Christian identity and our traditions, which destroys the future of our children and which is selling out our countries and our civilization.
In all of Europe people are saying: “We are the people!” And we are sick of it!

4. Fighters from the Islamist militant group Boko Haram have launched an attack on the key city of Maiduguri in north-eastern Nigeria.

“Fighters from the Islamist militant group Boko Haram have launched an attack on the key city of Maiduguri in north-eastern Nigeria. Fierce fighting was reported on the outskirts. The military is carrying out air strikes, and a curfew is in place.

Maiduguri is home to tens of thousands of people who have fled Boko Haram attacks and was visited on Saturday by President Goodluck Jonathan. Another Boko Haram attack was reported in Monguno, north of Maiduguri.

Boko Haram, which means “Western education is forbidden” in the Hausa language, launched guerrilla operations in 2009 to create an Islamic state…”

4. Faruq Khalil Muhammad ‘Isa entered the plea in federal court in Brooklyn, where a magistrate judge jailed him without bail on charges of conspiring to kill Americans and providing material support to terrorists without ever leaving Canada.

Thank you Dan F., M., Wrath of Khan, ML., and all. More to come later.

  1. 1/ Clint’s made a sudden impact with this one, and a fistful of dollars, for having the courage to go where eagles dare. Knowing he’s unforgiven by the space cowboys of the degenerate left should make his day.

    • As so often, All Movie is good for nothing beyond a list of someone’s films and a reminder of what the view is like from the left’s bubble:

‘It’s easy to feel as though the definitive story of U.S. involvement in the Middle East remains untold. Yes, David O. Russell’s Three Kings managed to expose the absurdity and greed surrounding the Persian Gulf War…. But 13 years after 9/11, our inability to grasp the larger sociopolitical ramifications of these ongoing conflicts has made it difficult to paint a picture of their ultimate impact…. Eastwood has gotten so caught up in churning out films that he’s forgotten how to engage an audience…. Perhaps if the writing talent were there to back Cooper and Eastwood up, American Sniper could have been the movie that brought the toll of the War on Terror home….’

  2. PAKISTAN Jan 25 2015 – Blasphemous caricatures: 30,000 protesters turn up for largest rally yet against French magazine

KARACHI: Tens of thousands of people took to the streets of the city on Sunday in what was the country’s largest protest yet against the publication of blasphemous caricatures by French satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo.

In a mammoth rally organised by the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), an estimated 30,000 protesters marched down University Road to Hasan Square, shouting slogans calling for the expulsion of the French ambassador and the severing of diplomatic ties with France. The charged-up demonstrators, who included men, women and children, held red, green and blue placards.

[…]“This rally demands that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif immediately call a meeting of all political and religious parties over the publication of these caricatures ,” said Haq, speaking to the protesters. “It is time to send a message to France and the rest of the Western world that we stand united against their support of blasphemy on the pretext of freedom of expression.”

The proposed all parties’ conference, added Haq, would unanimously call for an emergency meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation as well as the United Nations (UN) to make laws in order to protect the sanctity of all prophets and demand an unconditional apology from France.

Haq appealed to the citizens of Karachi and the rest of the country to stand together, in spite of political affiliations and differences, to strengthen the international protest movement against the Western world until France and other European countries apologised for the publication of the blasphemous sketches.

  3. EGYPT – At least 18 killed as protesters clash with police in anniversary of Egypt’s revolution

At least 18 people, including three policeman, have died at protests around the country on the fourth anniversary of the 2011 revolution, the health ministry announced Sunday.

Ten people, including a police conscript, were killed in Cairo’s Matariya district in the north of the capital, where the day’s most intense and sustained clashes took place.

Matariya is a hotbed for clashes between pro-Mohamed Morsi protesters and police, with weekly confrontations typical and deaths regularly reported.

By early evening, clashes in Cairo had subsided, with the exception of Matariya.
