2. Breitbart: Massive Pakistan Protests Against Charlie Hebdo ‘Filthy Blasphemers’

(Video at link)

Tens of thousands are taking to the streets in a display of national unity as the Pakistani national parliament moved to condemn the French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo for publishing cartoons of Mohammed.

Rallies saw chanting against the West and “blasphemers”, and the burning of the French flag. Yesterday, the Pakistan parliament passed a resolution on the release of the Charlie Hebdo survivors edition, which prominently featured images of Mohammed, a practice condemned by Muslims worldwide.

(If the Obama admin really wanted to repair relations with France, they should have brought a stuffed effigy of Jerry Lewis and a ventriloquist. Of course, that was before the French knew Jerry was Jewish)

5. U.S. to send 400 troops to train Syrian rebels

The United States will send 400 troops to train moderate Syrian rebels this spring, Pentagon spokesman Maj. James Brindle confirmed the planned deployment early Friday morning.

The plan is part of the U.S. strategy to roll back the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) group that has seized much of eastern and northern Syria.

Last month, President Barack Obama signed into law a massive defense policy bill that endorsed his plan to fight ISIS militants, including air strikes and training Iraqis and moderate Syrian rebels.

How does the US declaring war against the government of Syria help battle militant Islam? The Syrian government is secular and stands against groups like al Qaeda and ISIS – they are a natural ally, like it or not. So Assad doesn’t have free elections and Assad is mean to Muslim terrorists – so what? Can’t they talk about that later and get busy with eliminating the Caliphate before it takes root? Honestly, I don’t think I have ever seen Barack Obama do one thing that didn’t hurt the United States in one way or another.

  2. Obama : “Europe needs to better integrate Muslim communities”

Washington (AFP) – Europe must do more to better integrate its Muslim communities, and not “simply respond with a hammer,” US President Barack Obama said Friday in the wake of last week’s terror attacks in France.

“Our biggest advantage, major, is that our Muslim populations — they feel themselves to be Americans,” Obama told a joint press conference with British Prime Minister David Cameron.

“There are parts of Europe in which that’s not the case. And that’s probably the greatest danger that Europe faces… it’s important for Europe not to simply respond with a hammer and law enforcement and military approaches to these problems.”

  3. I do hope you have this clip translated. At 0:43, it certainly sounds like he is saying the word, “Yahud” (i.e., “Jews”). If this is indeed correct, it would be fascinating to hear what the Jews have to do with this supposed adulteress? Indeed, is their any remote crevice of a Muslim’s existence not connected in some way to Jews? Should we consider listing Islam as a malignant or parasitic disease that especially targets Jews, alongside things such as the BRCA1/BRCA2 genes that cause breast cancer in Jewish women?

CNN – Terror cell warning as Europe scrambles to handle threats

European counterterrorism agencies scrambled Friday to assess the potential danger of a complex and growing terrorism threat exposed by the arrests of more than a dozen people with suspected links to Islamic extremists.

As many as 20 sleeper cells of between 120 and 180 people could be ready to strike in France, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands, a Western intelligence source told CNN.

European Union and Middle East intelligence agencies had identified an “imminent threat” to Belgium, and possibly also to the Netherlands, the source told CNN national correspondent Deborah Feyerick

  6. Turkey’s Erdogan warns of clash of civilizations following attacks

ANKARA (Reuters) – Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan on Friday warned of a “clash of civilizations” following the wake of the Islamist militant attacks in Paris and he also appeared to criticize France for allowing the wife of one of the gunmen to travel via Turkey to Syria.

Erdogan, a devout Sunni Muslim, has already accused the West of hypocrisy after the attacks last week in which the gunmen killed 17, including 12 at the offices of the satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo. The three gunmen were also killed.

Speaking at a businessmen’s meeting in the capital Ankara, Erdogan said Charlie Hebdo was known for its provocative publications.

“We are following with great concern the attacks against Islam hidden behind the attack on the satirical magazine in France,” said Erdogan, who has become an increasingly vocal critic of what he sees as mounting Islamaphobia in the West.

“Despite all our efforts to prevent it, the clash of civilizations thesis is being brought to life.”

Charlie Hebdo has published numerous cartoons mocking religious figures including Jesus, Pope Frances and the Prophet Mohammad.

Its first edition since the attacks depicted the Prophet, provoking renewed outrage amongst some Muslims.

Erdogan said the decision to print millions of copies of the magazine had nothing to do with freedom of expression and was instead “terrorizing the freedom of others”.

A Turkish newspaper which reproduced part of the magazine is currently being investigated by prosecutors.

Without giving names, Erdogan also appeared to take aim at the French authorities for allowing Hayat Boumeddiene, the wife of one of the gunmen, to travel to Turkey in the days before the attacks. She is now thought to be in Syria.

“They are talking about people who go through Turkey, but they should first learn how to check passports when these people are leaving their own country,” Erdogan said.

Turkey has tightened its border security after facing criticism for allowing hundreds of European would-be militants transit into neighboring Syria to join up with radical groups, including Islamic State.

A French official said this week that intelligence co-operation between Paris and Ankara was strong and emphasized that Turkey was not at fault for not picking up Boumeddiene.

“This is not and should not become an issue, because there’s lots still to do, there’s other people that we need to track. We’re not blaming Turkey at all,” the official told Reuters.

  7. 4/ Unwittingly emblematic of the Obama presidency. There is even a bit of fiddling Nero in it, Taylor strumming while Paris burns. How opaque their bubble must be, that these people can’t make out how awful this looks.
