1. Isis fighters ‘high on cocaine’: Huge bag of drugs found at home of Islamic State leader accused of drugging troops to boost morale

(If this story is true, there are a couple of things I find interesting about it. For one thing, its consistent with an historical legend I read once, that coffee was brought to Europe by invading muslim armies who attacked Vienna. Once these armies were effected and pushed back, the beans and fixings for coffee were found amongst the effects of the muslims. Europeans after trying it had remarked that this made sense as to how these men could fight so long into the night and not be tired.

But more interesting is that it feeds my basic idea that all of sharia law, all of islam, all codes of conduct and behavior can be distilled into a simple axiom. ‘All things are permitted if they move forward the supremacy of Islam’.The article of course tries to use this to prove that the Islamic State is not Islamic)

2. White House issues veto threat over Keystone pipeline bill

(Personally I am OK with this. Its Americans that should be outraged. Canada has, for decades, been selling oil at under-market value and way below OPEC prices to the US as part of some special deal. I can’t link to it but a number of people in the oil industry have come out and said it and these were highly credible people. So if the Americans do not want it, then great lets sell it to people at market price and doubly so now that the Saudis have tanked the price of oil (not a very good pun so you know its not intended) so Americans should be enraged for 2 reasons. They are paying OPEC rates when they don’t have to, and they are subsidizing the jihad against themselves by paying the Saudis massive sums of money every day. I hope they feel its worth it all. If the US just bought Canadian oil and built modern nuclear reactors they could sink the middle east oligarchy and islamic jihad in a year pretty much forever if the West also wakes up and stops subsidizing their beachheads etc.)

7. Ezra Levant tweeted the following observation:

Call for murder of infidels, get a tax-exempt mosque

Say you hate Muslims, get a year in jail

Brazau’s idea was allegedly to provoke debate among riders, and to that end he boarded the train with an acquaintance decked out in Israeli colours and carrying an Israeli flag and another acquaintance who was to video the proceedings, while Brazau began loudly denouncing Islam and its holy book, the Qur’an.

But the stunt backfired when an offended passenger pressed the emergency alarm, causing the train to halt at the next station and ultimately, with Brazau refusing to leave the car, resulting in a half-hour service delay on the busy Bloor-Danforth line as rush hour approached.

Astonishingly in a province where those convicted of more serious offences regularly receive suspended sentences or house arrest, Brazau was denied bail and has been in custody since his arrest that day, July 29, or for five months and nine days.

Ontario court Judge Gerald Lapkin smartly convicted Brazau of the three charges he was facing — breach of the peace (by interfering with Toronto Transit Commission service), causing a disturbance (by using insulting language) and breaching his probation on the earlier hate-mongering conviction.

Thank you M., Richard, Yucki, and all. More to come.

  1. Australians warned of possible terror attacks in India (BBC, Jan 7, 2015)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-30705470

“The Australian government has urged citizens to “exercise a high degree of caution” in India because of the risk of terror attacks. Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade said the warning applied to all parts of India. It also said that militants may be planning attacks against upmarket hotels in Mumbai in particular. It comes a day after the government issued similar advice for Australians travelling to Indonesia.

The warnings were issued on the government’s Smart Traveller website on Tuesday. “We continue to receive reports that terrorists are planning attacks in India and assess that attacks could occur anywhere at any time with little or no warning, including in locations frequented by Australians” the warning said. This information was still under investigation, the advice said….”

  2. Pakistan votes for insurgents to face military trials (BBC, Jan 6, 2015)
    http://www.bbc.com/news/world-asia-30693519

“Pakistan is set to try terror suspects in military courts as part of plans to tackle insurgents after last month’s school massacre in Peshawar. Most parties backed the constitutional amendment in parliament’s lower house, which needed a two-thirds majority. It is the latest in a raft of anti-terror moves after the attack. Critics oppose handing the army more power and say suspects’ rights are at risk. The 16 December Taliban attack left 152 people dead, including 133 children.

On Monday, Pakistan Taliban leader Mullah Fazlullah released a video vowing more attacks on children…”

  3. 7/ 20 months for having ‘fairly loud, argumentative, opinionated conversations;’ loudly denouncing Islam, potentially provoking ‘a response in the minds of right-thinking Canadians;’ using insulting language; and possibly making people uncomfortable. Which in Canada is called breaching the peace, causing a disturbance, and continuing to ‘hate-monger’ against Islam despite having been found guilty of this offense previously. Canadians really do need to be paying attention here.

  4. #2 A lot of Americans are outraged at the veto of the pipeline and wish we could do something about it, the only problem is that the establishment Republicans (liberal or moderate) are not going to vote to over ride any veto.
