1. Newly elected French mayor bans halal foods from school cafeterias.

(And rightfully so. It is not the responsibility of the school to accommodate arbitrary religious requirements. All students have equal rights to eat or not eat the food that is available so long as they are able to bring in their own foods to meet dietary requirements based on superstition or medical reasons alike)

2. Brandeis Withdraws Offer of Honorary Degree to Ayaan Hirsi Ali

The school administration buckled under to the Brandeis contingent of an increasingly entitled and belligerent faction on U.S. campuses who believe diversity, tolerance and justice only apply to positions and people whose views are consistent with their own. This goes not only for the students, as Bernadette Brooten, a Brandeis professof in the Near Eastern and Judaic Studies Department explained on the Facebook page denouncing Ali, “a group of 86 faculty members has signed a letter to President Lawrence, asking him to rescind the invitation.”

  1. I can remember when the Universities in the west would have resisted all pressure by special interest groups.

#4 I wondered how long it would be before someone tried this, it is a logical move by terrorists.

  2. #2 I thought honary degrees were for outstanding achievement, not for their political, religious or sexual ideologies. Achievement. Period.

Degrees for Dhimmis. Who’d have thunk?

  3. Tasha — !! These vile creatures of Anjem Choudary !!

    Watch them:
Ape-like, low-slung jaw. Underbite, some quite extreme. Many have gap-tooth trait. Black-black eyes set deeply under shelf-like forehead. Sometimes the full eyeball seems to pop, the whole white visible, perhaps genetic hyperthyroidism. Some outright idiots in their midst, likely use diapers.

  4. 2/ All the years I’ve lived here, all the schools, I never met one openly Brandeis-affiliated person — neither student, nor faculty, nor staff. They must be here somewhere, right?

Guys I knew in school – who wouldn’t have had any experience either – just made rude jokes about pear-shaped sociology majors with frizzy hair and aggressive mannerisms.

Maybe they have profound inferiority complexes.

  5. Syria crisis: Car bombings ‘kill 25’ in Homs (BBC, Apr 9, 2014)

“Two car bombs have exploded in the Syrian city of Homs, killing at least 25 people and wounding scores more, state news agency Sana says.

The report blamed “terrorists” for the blasts, half an hour apart, in the Karam al-Luz district.

In a separate development, the rebel-held town of Rankous, north of Damascus, is reported to have fallen to government forces.

State TV said the final battle to capture Rankous lasted 18 hours.

In a live report from the strategically important town, it said that the government victory came after weeks of intense fighting…”

Good first step. Now all he has to do is ban Muslims from school cafeterias.

  7. INTERVIEW WITH THE RUSSIAN RUSH LIMBAUGH

Victor Topaller, the Moscow-born director, journalist, TV and radio personality, has earned the moniker “The Russian Limbaugh” due to his conservative views and hard-hitting programming. […]

IG: Victor, we both went through the Soviet education system and memorized Karl Marx’s Communist Manifesto and Lenin’s works by heart. If we didn’t we would not have gotten our diplomas. I personally think that the ideological heads of the Democratic Party and liberal labor unions simply copied their programs and slogans from there. What’s your opinion on this?

VT: There are no opinions here, only facts, and the facts are that Lenin’s “Global Socialist Revolution” is becoming a reality. Speaking of which, the “Leader of the Proletariat” was far from naive; he predicted that the global revolution will be carried out mainly by what he referred to as the “useful idiots from the West” – all that far-left-liberal riffraff… which is exactly what’s happened. And as for unions, I’d rather not comment. After all, who wants to mess with them? Note that Lenin called labor unions “The Schools of Communism” – what else can one say? […]

yucki: “Lenin called labor unions “The Schools of Communism”” That is a good quote.

  9. Ox,
Victor Topaller has a huge Russian-speaking following around the world. He left Russia, settled in Israel, may be in New York now. This was the only decent translation I found while scrounging online.
