Jabhat al-Nusra, a Syrian salafist organization that is identified with Al Qaeda, has uploaded to Youtube a video documenting the preparations by one of its members for a suicide mission, in Edra, east of Damascus. The mission led to the overrunning of Syrian army positions and to the capture of officers and soldiers from the Syrian army. The suicide bomber was videotaped with his mother and father next to an armored personnel carrier (APC), which had been loaded with barrels full of explosives weighing several tons.

It is a given that Russia and Ukraine are neighbours, and have much in common besides q border. The only way forward for Ukraine is to make good their relations with Russia. Ukrainians are just being used by the US as an instrument to get at Russia. They will be discarded the moment they become a liability.
What I find surprising is the remarkable restraint that Russia has shown throughout this Western formented crisis on Russia’s borders. I suppose that cool heads in Russia realize that time is on their side, and sooner or later Ukraine will come to its senses.
