6.BBC version of the story on Islamic take over of schools in the UK by dirty tricks campaign

An alleged plot to oust some Birmingham head teachers and make their schools adhere to more Islamic principles is being investigated, it has emerged.

A letter detailing the plan, known as “Operation Trojan Horse”, claims up to four schools in the city have already been taken over.

These schools are Adderley Primary, Saltley School, Park View School and Regents Park Community Primary School.

Saltley’s head teacher resigned last year after a critical Ofsted report.

Inspectors said there was a “dysfunctional” relationship between head teacher Balwant Bains and governors which was hindering the school.

“Start Quote

When the parents have been identified, we start to turn them against the head teacher and leadership team”

A line in the letter

The leaked letter, which purports to outline “Operation Trojan Horse”, has subsequently been sent to at least another twelve schools in the city – all believed to be vulnerable to takeover.

7. Suspected Russian spyware Turla targets Europe, U.S.

LONDON/BOSTON (Reuters) – A sophisticated piece of spyware has been quietly infecting hundreds of government computers across Europe and the United States in one of the most complex cyber espionage programs uncovered to date.

Several security researchers and Western intelligence officers say they believe the malware, widely known as Turla, is the work of the Russian government and linked to the same software used to launch a massive breach on the U.S. military uncovered in 2008. Those assessments were based on analysis of tactics employed by hackers, along with technical indicators and the victims they targeted.

#3 The last time I was in New York was 1966, I don’t know what is in Times Square anymore, if it is where the porn shops and Ho’s hang out the women are actually better looking then the ones I remember seeing.

#7 This one is scary, almost all the attacks on our computers are from Russia and China.

  2. “The Wages of Weakness”

Vladimir Putin is a lucky man. And he’s got three more years of luck to come.
He takes Crimea, and President Obama says it’s not in Russia’s interest, not even strategically clever. Indeed, it’s a sign of weakness.
Really? Crimea belonged to Moscow for 200 years. Russia conquered it 20 years before the U.S. acquired Louisiana. Lost it in the humiliation of the 1990s. Putin got it back in about three days without firing a shot.
Now Russia looms over the rest of eastern and southern Ukraine. Putin can take that anytime he wants — if he wants. He has already destabilized the nationalist government in Kiev. Ukraine is now truncated and on the life support of U.S. and European money (much of which — cash for gas — will end up in Putin’s treasury anyway).

  3. Desmond Tutu urges US to shelve ‘carbon bomb’ Keystone

South Africa’s peace icon Desmond Tutu on Friday urged the United States to reject Canada’s Keystone XL pipeline, saying the “carbon bomb” would upend the US role fighting climate change.

The Nobel Prize-winning archbishop who fought apartheid led a letter to Secretary of State John Kerry urging him to reject the 1,179-mile (1,897-kilometer) pipeline, which would bring oil from the carbon-intense Alberta tar sands into the United States.

“The verdict on whether to approve or reject the Keystone XL pipeline could, in just one stroke, confirm or condemn America’s prospects for climate leadership,” said the letter, released by the advocacy group Avaaz.

“This is a US policy decision that will have truly global significance. Keystone has been called the ‘fuse to the biggest carbon bomb on the planet,'” said the letter, timed for the final day of a public comment period on the pipeline.

Other signatories to the letter included Yeb Sano, the Philippine diplomat who threw a spotlight on environmental dangers by fasting during UN-led climate negotiations last year, along with Australian Greens party leader Christine Milne and Britain’s sole Green member of parliament Caroline Lucas.

The letter reminded Kerry — who ultimately makes the decision on the pipeline due to its international nature — of his past calls for greater international action on climate change, including in a speech last month in Jakarta.

Kerry has said only that he is making a “very intensive evaluation” of the proposal.

A State Department report last month said that the pipeline would not substantially impact climate change as Canada would likely extract the oil anyway. A government watchdog later rejected a challenge by environmental groups who said that the third-party contractor which wrote the study had conflicts of interest.

Canada’s conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper and US Republicans have pushed hard for approval of the pipeline, arguing that it would create jobs and increase US energy security by decreasing the need for Middle Eastern oil.

House Speaker John Boehner has called for the United States to expand its energy supply, including through the Keystone pipeline, as a way to counter President Vladimir Putin of Russia, a major gas exporter.

    “Another Tack: Krake Zuckerberg”
Most German publications no longer even pretend any wariness about coming off as anti-Jewish. Gone are the days when Germans had to at least appear a tad more cautious than their fellow Europeans. The latter reverted quickly enough to their old Jew-baiting habits but the Germans have willy-nilly caught up.

  5. U.S. Justice Dept. sues Philly school district over beard-length rule

he U.S. Department of Justice has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the School District of Philadelphia, claiming a rule regulating the length of employees’ beards constitutes religious discrimination.

According to the suit filed Wednesday, the district in October 2010 instituted a new grooming policy preventing school police officers and security guards from having beards longer than a quarter of an inch.

School police officer Siddiq Abu-Bakr maintained an untrimmed beard for the 27 years he worked at the district, the suit states. Abu-Bakr is a member of the Islamic faith, which he says requires that he not cut his beard.

[…]Through the suit, filed in U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the United States is seeking that the district be required to create new grooming policies that don’t discriminate against employees. The lawsuit is also seeking monetary damages for Abu-Bakr and others who are similarly situated.

“No employee should be forced to violate his religious beliefs in order to earn a living,” Spencer Lewis Jr., district director of the EEOC’s Philadelphia District Office, said in a statement. “Modifying a dress or grooming code is a reasonable accommodation that enables employees to keep working without posing an undue hardship on the employer.”
