So now the Muslims in the Crimea know the fear of watching storm clouds roll and boil on the horizon.
Muslims?…Crimean Muslims?…….deport the Muslims. Full stop, period, end of story.
As for the rest of the civilians in the area, I have not one shred of joy or exuberance for what they face, for what surrounds them.
If this slips its leash, if this breaks the levy, if this gets loose from its chains it will be madness on an unimaginable scale and hundreds, perhaps thousands, perhaps millions will die.
It will be as it always is.
It will be the unspeakable suffering and agony of the weakest, the defenseless, the old, the frail, the children and the women.
It will be the destruction of homes, towns and cities. it will be starvation, malnutrition, death, murder and every waking minute of cold, terrorizing fear.
Mass graves will be dug and will, with the politically inconvenient and the enemies of the state, be filled to the brim.
There will be rape, pillaging, looting, robbery, mass murder, torture and a list of crimes against the innocent that will make a mockery of anything resembling human rights.
And in its wake, when the dust has settled, when the blood and tears have dried, when the orphanages are topped up, when the mass graves have been unearthed and their contents cataloged, when the rubble has been cleared away, when the funerals are complete and the streets are no longer lined with miles of long black cars, when we have entertained ourselves with the spectacle of post masters become monsters as they stand, shackled, with heads hung low in dockets, the objects of another Nuremberg spectacle, we will change the channel and busy ourselves with the amnesia of the masses.
The more things change, the more things stay the same…….meet the new boss, same as the old boss.
By the way…….I wonder if the Ukrainian officer corps ever heard of Stalin’s old picnic ground, The Katyn Forest. I hear Putin may be putting a little basket of snacks together for a lovely afternoon of sunshine and politically expedient potato salad.

RUSSIA -Thousands march in pro-invasion rally in Moscow
MOSCOW — Thousands marched freely through Moscow on yesterday in support of Russia using military force in neighboring Ukraine, while at an anti-invasion protest nearby dozens were detained.
Russian state television ratcheted up its pro-invasion rhetoric over the weekend and showed what it claimed were buses full of refugees pouring across the Ukrainian border, fleeing what anchors call the “fascist thugs” who took power after Russia-leaning President Viktor Yanukovych fled the country last week after months of protest.
At least 10,000 people waving Russian flags rallied in central Moscow. Some dressed in Soviet military uniforms and shouted slogans like “Fascism will not pass!” and “No to Nazism!” — evoking parallels with the repulsion of Hitler’s troops from Ukraine in World War II.

RUSSIA – Dozens Arrested at Moscow Antiwar Protest
Moscow police have arrested dozens of people protesting against military intervention in Ukraine.
The Interfax news agency quoted police as saying 40 people were detained for “attempts to violate public order” at a protest near the Defense Ministry in central Moscow.
Ovdinfo, a rights group that tracks arrests at demonstrations, put the number of detentions at 100.
Antiwar protesters also gathered at a separate demonstration on Manezhnaya square close to the Kremlin and Red Square, which police cordoned off and blocked with parked buses.

Fire destroys Jersey City mosque
Thick plumes of smoke and intense flames rip through a mosque in Jersey City, New Jersey. The two-alarm fire broke out just before 6:00 AM Friday morning. It took firefighters about an hour to bring it under control. Aerials from a news helicopter show firefighters on the roof of the Al-Tawheed Islamic Center. They used sledgehammers to break through windows to let the smoke escape. Local media is reporting no one was hurt in the blaze. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Women teachers told not to apply for jobs at UK Muslim school
An Islamic boy’s school in Leicester, central England, advertised for a new science teacher but ruled out any female applicants. Secular campaigners are saying this is the latest example of religious practices being accommodated in the education system.
