Ukraine’s Jews report attacks, threats accompanying current rebellion are getting worse, ask for Israeli security personnel.

In the face of increasing hostility toward Jews throughout the Ukraine, the Director of the Federation of Jewish Organizations in Europe, Rabbi Menahem Margolin, has asked Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Moshe Yaalon to act urgently and send trained security personnel to protect Jewish communities in the Ukraine. He specifically asked that the assistance be sent to cities and towns where there is a greater chance that the current unrest could take the form of anti-Semitic attacks.

Rabbi Margolin said that he was writing on behalf of the Jews of Ukraine. He also demanded that the heads of state in Europe make clear to opposition elements in Kiev that they are the ones responsible for ensuring that further attacks on Jews be avoided.

  2. The Jews in Eastern Europe like those in Western Europe need to leave as soon as possible, they want to be out of Europe before the death camps are built.

  3. It is unlikely that Israelis will get involved in this mess. (At least not officially.) However, Israel welcomes all jewish refugees, no matter where they come from.

  4. I agree Israel won’t get officially involved, they will probably help everyone they can but know that to do this officially will only make matters worse.

  5. Better see to it yourselves.

How many committees are working on this in church groups? How much money do you need to charter planes? Have you identified the most urgent targets and what sort of access you’ll need for the first airlift?

  6. First you need an administration that will let the refugees in, Obama isn’t doing that for Coptics, at least he wasn’t a few months ago.

  7. Don’t hold your breath.

Better, which countries have made a commitment in accept refugees? The US of A? Canada? Why can’t they ALL be Christian refugees?

Your immediate task is to energize your base. Your groups will be churches, veterans, seniors’ centers, and everything else.

Most likely they’re vaguely distressed but feel helpless. And they don’t know the half of it. They have to be informed of just how bad it is; you have so much material here, you can find whatever will most inform your group. The nun in Turkey rescuing Syrian Christians would do it for me.

Impress them with that hoary Vietnam-era mantra: Power to the People!
Individuals within your own group will have the savvy to network even if they’ve never done so before. A grandmother did PTA, or real estate agent may have worked on town bylaws. And there are naturals everywhere.

Keep the focus clear, local, everything do-able.
Who’s in touch with local newspapers, talk radio? Can we invite a speaker to a local function? Get some publicity, generate memoranda so everyone can see progress, want to be a part of it.

Which government agencies are involved? What’s the procedure for asylum seekers? That’s an online task, perhaps a small group can develop some expertise in this kind of research. It’s less intimidating that way and it builds self-confidence.

Visit our congressman. Impress his STAFF, they’ve got the skills if he sets them to the task.

This operation, incidentally, will be invaluable experience when the war comes to your neighborhood.

  8. And it is coming to all of our neighborhoods, on a different post Don stated that the people are tired of the war, what they don’t understand is that this is a war of survival, we either win or we cease to exist as a free nation.

  9. I prefer to die free rather then live a slave.
