Iranian student burned badly in fire set in his room full of incendiary devices. Feds denying he was building the things he made.

The US really is becoming an Orwellian construct. For the second time in as many months, the DHS, (or is it the FBI?) is denying that the obvious cause of this fire is the cause at all before they can possibly know.

First, look at this report from earlier today on Jihad Watch:

A short time later the report is updated:

This report actually starts with: “Investigators do not believe this (Iranian student) was trying to make a bomb” even though everyone is clear there was a bomb, in as much as a Molotov cocktail in his apartment and many containers of flammable liquids.

  1. Right, let’s interview a local kid in a pink sweatshirt for an explanation of what the FBI does. Be sure and check with a passerby for his hearsay opinion concerning the character of self-immolating individual (not to be confused with a Muslim jihadist just because a molotov cocktail on premises).

A lying government presented by lame local news can be headache inducing.

  2. If a sheep can be found on or near the premises, the FBI could say he was planning to cook a sheep.

  3. Turkey passes law tightening control of internet (BBC, Feb 6, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-26062038
“The Turkish parliament has approved a bill that would tighten government controls over the internet. The new law will allow Turkey’s telecommunications authority to block websites without first seeking a court ruling. It will also force internet providers to store data on web users’ activities for two years and make it available to the authorities. The opposition has criticised the move as an assault on freedom of expression. Internet access in Turkey is already restricted and thousands of websites blocked. Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan has been openly critical of the internet, calling Twitter a “scourge” and condemning social media as “the worst menace to society”. Both Twitter and Facebook were widely used by anti-government protesters to spread information during demonstrations last year…”

Afghan Taliban ‘capture US military dog (BBC, Feb 6, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-26062679
“The Taliban claim to have captured a dog belonging to US troops during fighting in eastern Afghanistan last December. They released footage featuring the dog, apparently called “Colonel”. The militant group said the dog was wearing a harness with a GPS tracking device, a torch and small camera. US officials said they were investigating the claim. Correspondents say the incident is likely to be an embarrassment to them…”

  5. Iraqi security forces ‘abuse female prisoners’ (BBC, Feb 6, 2014)
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-26064908
“Iraqi security forces are detaining thousands of women illegally and subjecting them to torture and abuse, a new report by Human Rights Watch says. Many were held for months or even years without charge, the report found. Interrogators often questioned them about their male relatives’ activities rather than the crimes in which they themselves were implicated, it said. The government called the claims “over-exaggerated”, but admitted a number of female detainees had been mistreated. “We have some limited illegal behaviours which were practised by security forces against women prisoners,” a spokesman for the human rights ministry said. “Iraq is still working to put an end to prison abuse.” He added that those responsible would be held accountable…”

  6. 8 Al Jazeera journalists charged by Egyptian authorities, network says (CNN, Feb 6, 2014)
    http://edition.cnn.com/2014/02/05/world/meast/egypt-detained-journalists/index.html
“Egyptian authorities have served Al Jazeera with a charge sheet that identifies eight of its staff on a list of 20 people — all believed to be journalists — for allegedly conspiring with a terrorist group, the network said Wednesday. The 20 are wanted by Egyptian authorities on charges of conspiring with a terror group and “broadcasting false information and rumors to convince the international community that Egypt was undergoing a civil war,” according to Egypt’s state-run media. The eight Al Jazeera journalists include three — Australian Peter Greste, and Eygptians Baher Mohamed and Mohamed Fahmy — who have been held by authorities since December 29, the network said in a written statement. The charges against the journalists come amid a military crackdown on the Muslim Brotherhood following the ouster of the country’s first democratically-elected president, Mohamed Morsy. Egyptian authorities say the three jailed Al Jazeera journalists held illegal meetings with the Muslim Brotherhood, which was declared a terrorist group in December…”

  8. The current administration will stop at nothing to whitewash Islam, I pray the US can survive until he is out of office and that another Dem doesn’t get in. Assuming they let us have an election in 2016.

  9. No surprise here, the MSM (i.e. The Government Media Complex) will as usual sanitize, edit, and rewrite the reports. The ‘official’ version must fit the agenda of the regime.

  10. Why make Molotov cocktails out of plastic bottles? Either he was a really stupid terrorist or he was storing the gas for another reason. Either way he was stupid some plastics will not hold fuel which is likely why the place caught on fire.

  11. @Richard
First, electable Republicans, the RINOs, are just as comprised.
Next, “Assuming they let us have an election in 2016. “
That’s no hyperbole. These days even the MSM are blathering about “Imperial Presidency”. More frightening, that’s just what the wrong side wants.

CSMonitor’s cover story January 26, 2014: “Is Barack Obama an imperial president?”
President Obama’s use of executive action to get around congressional gridlock is unparalleled in modern times, some scholars say. But to liberal activists, he’s not going far enough.

  12. In National Review just yesterday, Jonah Goldberg wrote:

Defending the Imperial Presidency—When the Mood Strikes

In today’s Washington Post, Ruth Marcus offers a Stakhanovite defense of Obama’s end-runs around Congress, replete with much mocking of Republicans for asserting their Constitutional prerogatives. She says of Republican complaints: “These assessments are overwrought, veering on unhinged.” The column, titled “Obama has a pen, a phone and a precedent” she offers a generous list of defenses for Obama’s unilateral actions.

  13. Yucki I accept your correction, I should have stated that the first conservative Republican elected, the RINOs and moderates are just as bad as the Dems.

I know the Imperial Presidency is worrying for many reasons, among them is the fear of no election while Obama is alive, and the fear that nothing will be done to punish the crimes of Obama and company thus setting the precedent that liberal Dems are above the law.
