The girl, named as Spozhmay, by NDTV, is reported to be as young as ten and thought to be the sister of a prominent Taliban commander.

5. If a person sets a Jewish girl’s hair on fire while yelling, “Burn the Jew! Burn the Jew!” it is not antisemitism in Canada.

A high school student grabbed a Jewish female classmate, held a lighter to her hair and said out loud, “let’s burn the Jew,” but a Canadian judge concluded that the incident was “not racially motivated.”

  1. Generally speaking, I think the current trend toward encouraging children to lay criminal charges against other children is a slippery slope we should rarely go down. Children don’t have a clue, really, and it’s not fair to be expecting them to know the criminal code and to carefully abide by it, when they’ve only been alive and speaking for a few years. Human children have a just-plain-nasty streak and it takes time for them to grow out of it. They’re basically born animals and they need time to learn how to be gentle, civilized humans. I hate to be so Victorian, but it’s bloody well true. What the kid with the lighter needs is someone to actually explain to them why what he/she did was really bad. A Native Healing Circle, maybe. A criminal trial? Ridiculous!

  2. Chris all children come into this world as savages, it is up to their parents to civilize them, a duty way too many parents have ignored.
