“An Afghan army special forces commander has defected to an insurgent group allied with the Taliban in a Humvee truck packed with his team’s guns and high-tech equipment, officials in the eastern Kunar province said on Sunday.

Monsif Khan, who raided the supplies of his 20-man team in Kunar’s capital Asadabad over the Eid al-Adha religious holiday, is the first special forces commander to switch sides, joining the Hezb-e-Islami organization.

“He sent some of his comrades on leave and paid others to go out sightseeing, and then escaped with up to 30 guns, night-vision goggles, binoculars and a Humvee,” said Shuja ul-Mulkh Jalala, the governor of Kunar.

Tahiti’s first mosque closes one day after opening
“Tahiti’s first mosque closes one day after opening” Radio New Zealand 17 October, 2013 (thanks to Tom)

The city administration of Papeete has forced French Polynesia’s first mosque to close – one day after it was opened by a new imam from France.

The opening caused an uproar and prompted the presidency to restate that the French constitution guarantees freedom of religion.

Tahitians don’t want to be enriched. Whats wrong with them?

  4. #1 Like Eeyore said, we need to find out who is funding these people.

If it is simply that welfare enables them to travel allover the country to make a nuisance of themselves then welfare pays too much.

Andrew Jackson was correct in that you cannot have 2 nations governing the same territory.

  5. #1 I see the protesters threw molotov cocktails/fire bomb.

A fire bomb is no different than a fire arm. It presents a clear and immediate threat to law enforcement. Anyone with a lit fire bomb winding up to throw it should not be surprised if they are met with deadly force.

I do not mean that people around the thrower should be targeted, but if the police miss their target that is what they get for associating with such people & egging them on.

Same goes for throwing rocks, bricks or bottles, but not tear gas canisters unless it looks like they are trying to head shot an officer with one.

  6. I meant what said about bottles. One fall at the university I went to a person was hit by a bottle in campus town during a disturbance. I do not believe they were targeted, but authorities do not know. however the person suffered brain damage.
