OTTAWA – The Toronto man charged in a suspected bomb threat at the PMO on Wednesday is no stranger to the law.

Mohamoud Jimale, 45, was convicted in 1998 in Toronto for communication for the purposes for prostitution. He was fined $250.

He faced several other charges over the years, but they were withdrawn.

On Thursday, Jimale was charged with one count uttering threats and one count mischief after allegedly walking into the governmental building with a suspicious package, threatening people and praying in a foreign language,

Langevin Block, that houses the PMO, was evacuated Wednesday morning. Harper wasn’t in the building at the time.

All roads surrounding the building were closed for several hours as police investigated.

A bomb squad was called in to make sure the package wasn’t dangerous.

The bomb scare occurred just hours before the government’s speech from the throne, which was delivered as scheduled.

Dozens die in bomb attacks in Baghdad and northern Iraq (BBC, Oct 17, 2013)
    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-24563994
“More than 60 people have been killed in a series of bomb blasts across Iraq, with dozens more injured. At least nine attacks hit mainly Shia areas of Baghdad as Iraqis were celebrating the Eid al-Adha holiday. Earlier a suicide bomb in Mwafaqiya, a village inhabited by the Shabak minority near the northern city of Mosul, killed at least 15. No group has said it carried out the attacks, which come as violence….”

  3. What would be the advantage of it? How is it advantageous to expose a vulnerability that you know will be closed as a consequence? Is it to sue the govt. for racism like they flying imams did on American Airlines?

  4. Eeyore you are probably right, and it the suit is won the security precautions will be called racist and removed. This way they get to make money before someone blows themselves up.
