Ottawa Police station changes its banner for Islamic History Month

On Oct. 2 2013 they had the banner up I have been using since the picture was sent to me on that date. Thanks to a tip from someone who had business at the station I found out they have changed the banner to the one below, and yes, there is not a Canadian flag in sight. Just this giant banner to Islam hanging in the lobby.

  1. Does any other world religion have their own month? Is there a Hindu month, Buddhist month, Sikh month, Jewish month, Christian month, Zoroastrian month, Jain month, Wiccan month, Druid month etc? What about atheist month, and agnostic month?
and if other religions do not have their own month showcasing all the positives about their faith, how can that government institution focus on one religion which is completely unfair to all other faiths.

  2. That’s Turkey, unless I’m mistaken. Hopefully the rank and file are making irritated Thanksgiving jokes.

    Wikipedia:

The Turkish flag uses the same symbols of the latest flag of the Ottoman Empire.

According to a legend, the flag represents the reflection of the moon and a star in a pool of blood of Turkish warriors.

Legend holds that the founder of the Ottoman Dynasty, Sultan Osman I, had a dream in which the crescent moon stretched from one end of the earth to the other. Taking this as a good omen, he chose to keep the crescent and make it the symbol of his dynasty.

During the late imperial period, the distinctive use of the color red for secular and green for religious institutions became an established practice.
