    So does the great and disingenuous iftiqar have a defense for this article?

    Let me guess. He or she will say the South has a marriage age of 13. Oh wait it is higher now. Jerry Lee Lewis married his 13 year old cousin. What did America think of it? His career cratered.

    Then the next gambit will be to point a finger at Medieval Europe. Well the descendants of Medieval raised the the marriage because of science and the advancement of knowledge. Also life is no longer nasty Brutish and short.

    So many people from Muslim countries were trained as doctors and scientists in the last 2 centuries. So they have the same knowledge of science and medicine. Why did they not ensure that this knowledge wad spread? Because they were chased out by fundamentalists or were the fundamentalists (Dr. Zawahiri). So do not even try the Islam is 600 years younger than Christianity argument. Because Sikhs religion is younger than Islam and they are not dragging their knuckles.

    They would argue that Sharia is not totally the same as the Koran. But the overlap is so great, the normal practice is so prevalent as to make the point moot. All some devout Muslims will point out is that Mohammed married a girl at age 5 and consummated said marriage at age 9. Some clerics in the peninsula have as Islamic scholars have said the marriageable age is when a girl can bear the weight of a man.

    Well, Iffy a girl might be able to bear the weight of a man without deforming or other ill consequence but the subsequent baby coming out can mess her up giving her vesico-vaginal fistula at a significantly higher rate.

    Just because Iffy might know something about economics, does not mean they cannot be a blithering _____ when it comes to human physiology. Quite ignorant.
