  1. 4 – A highly-educated Hungarian colleague will not be convinced that the problem for Europe is Islam. “Vandals attack a Christian cemetery – nothing in the media. But if anything happens to a *Jewish* cemetery!” Jews control the economy etc. He looks forward to all the Jews leaving for Israel and for Hungary’s sake he hopes they stay there.

  2. Ambient backscatter is fairly weak when your far from a transmitter. As said in the article, they needed to be within 6 miles of a commercial TV transmitter (50-100 kW RF output) to work, and even then the power from the signal was good for only a few feet. Neat technology, and one that’s already common (think EZ pass), but it requires a high RF field to get enough power to work. Also easy to defeat: just wrap the device with foil and its shielded.

    This is not new. It has been around for two decades at the least. Passive transponders work on the principle. It is also used on insects and other such creatures, for research purposes.

    To stymie the technology, all one needs is a cover that electrically conducting. Your own mobile phone cover or pouch, can be sprayed by silver paint, and thats that.
