1. Senators McCain and Graham call for release of Egyptian Islamists.

(And Steyn says that Huma Abedin is not accomplished! Ha!)

2. Egyptian govt rejects McCain’s ‘clumsy’ statements on Morsi’s ouster

3. Killing babies no different from abortion, experts say

(Do you think they just mean infidel babies? I think its time to close Oxford and open some kind of school there or something)

Parents should be allowed to have their newborn babies killed because they are “morally irrelevant” and ending their lives is no different to abortion, a group of medical ethicists linked to Oxford University has argued.

4. Car bombs around Bagdad kill 41 people.

(Is that even news anymore, or is it more an extreme parking solution as far as the press is concerned. Seems to me before Obama Iraq was pretty much in the bag)

5. Bruce Bawer: Gypsies Tramps and Thieves.

(Cher really should go live with them for a while)

6. Top Iran Official Calls for Israel’s Destruction, Blames Muslim Violence on Jewish State

Iranian state media reported this week on statements made by Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Naqdi in which the powerful Iranian official – Naqdi is the commander of the Basij paramilitary force – explained the sources of regional instability and how to solve them. A lot, it turns out, hangs on the Jewish state’s existence and elimination:

7. President Robert Mugabe’s government plans to seize control of foreign-owned mines without paying for them as part of a program to accumulate $7 billion of assets following his July 31 election victory, a minister said.

(I wonder if Obama is watching. After all, he followed Mugabe’s lead by printing money to solve economic problems)

8. Victim’s Family Sues Ohio Hospital for Tolerating Dangerous Pakistani Muslim Doctor

9. Israel Waives US ‘Iron Dome’ Funding

(One can’t help but wonder if the Israelis sloughed off American funding because they don’t like the strings that come with it. Should Israel have to do a unilateral strike on Iran, they will need not to be held in check by their US ‘allies’. I wonder if the refusal of US money has more to do with that than easing strained US finances.)

10. Kashmir: Five Indian soldiers killed in shooting

Five Indian soldiers have been shot dead in Indian-administered Jammu and Kashmir, the chief minister of the disputed region says.

India’s army accused Pakistan over the incident, saying troops had “entered the Indian area and ambushed” an army patrol in the Poonch area.

Thanks to Wrath of Khan,  Shabnam, M and many more.

  1. “Killing babies no different from abortion, experts say”

“Parents should be allowed to have their newborn babies killed because they are “morally irrelevant” and ending their lives is no different to abortion, a group of medical ethicists linked to Oxford University has argued.”

    What is morally irrelevant?

    How do you define that?

If a person is not economically productive or productive enough are they irrelevant? Am I mixing economic worth with morality? Does it matter? If a person does not believe in God or gods, then is economics, self interest any different than morality?

I remember a flaming liberal talk show host, Jay Marvin, make this same argument back in the early to mid 1990s. I was shocked. I took note. I remember exactly where I was and when I hear it. I say flaming because they would get histrionic and scream. He was also on meds and would call people brain stems. He made the argument for post birth abortion. But now supposedly more respectable people are making the same arguments.

I guess it is all the more respectable when they say it because they speak with a certain tone of voice like a British or NPR commentator. Plus they have the credentials.

Credentials? Sorry but if the SHTF I want a mechanic, carpenter, plumber or electrician. Someone with some real tangible skills. Not someone, who has a degree, but only because they go with the flow and a suave in their mendaciousness. So yeah … experts.

The Greeks use to expose their newborns that they thought might be weak during the Bronze age. But they did so because agricultural productivity was so low. Heck they were still using the scratch plow. So I figure God would let them slide but not me. Our level of productivity is much higher.

What I espouse. Believing in the adage “that you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink.”, I believe in reasoning. If that doesn’t work, I want a societal divorce. No jihad. Just a divorce.

Same people that believe sex is mainly about recreation, want abortion at the drop of the hat, worry about demographic trends that make all the socialist welfare programs Ponzi schemes. So they want massive immigration to somehow make it work. After decades and decades they still have not caught on.

  2. About the abortion thing, that really shows how absurd morality has become. Saying killing a baby is the same as abortion is as ludicrous as saying that all abortion is murder and you will burn in hell. Both are symptoms of simplistic, ideological, unconstrained binary thinking.

  3. #1: a) While I think Obama was a bad mistake by Westeners, what the hell would have happened had McCain received the keys to the White House. All these “Cains” and no Abel. b) Huma Abedin, isn’t she the one who warmed Hilary Clintons bed? And now you say she is the wife of the Wiener Saussage? Is she batting for both teams?

#4: Carbombs in Iraq: “…is it more an extreme parking solution as far as the press is concerned…” LOL LOL LOL : filing this away with my quotes:)

#9: I fully agree with you. Perhaps Netanjahu is returning to his initial attitude towards Obama, which held so much hope for Israel: Obama: “Yes we can”. Netanyahou: “No you won’t”.

  4. 3/ Where does it end? A newborn baby is not a person yet. What about a toddler? A toddler can’t do much. Is a toddler a person yet?
This is leading to something sinister.

  5. The looser McCain is a disgrace to not only his party, but to the US. Sadly and most sickening there is no mention by the MSM or many in the political class of the ongoing religious cleansing of Christians being perpetrated by members of the Muslim Brotherhood and other Islamist groups in Egypt.

  6. Re: Oxford ethicists , now there is an oxymoron . I am a bio-ethicist and do NOT agree with this position . Ultimately it depends on the definition of a person , is a fetus a person ( relieing on theological grounds ) the answer is no , so there is a big difference in an abortion and the murder of a new born .
I would remind my Oxford colleagues that there is a differnce between ethics and morals .

  7. #3 “However, they did not argue that some baby killings were more justifiable than others – their fundamental point was that, morally, there was no difference to abortion as already practised. They preferred to use the phrase “after-birth abortion” rather than “infanticide” to “emphasise that the moral status of the individual killed is comparable with that of a fetus”.
….He said the journal would consider publishing an article positing that, if there was no moral difference between abortion and killing newborns, then abortion too should be illegal. …”

I think that is the ultimate point of the article. This seems to be a clever anti-abortion argument by taking pro-choice arguments and extending the end point.

  8. #6 Imagine if Iran had remained Zoroastrian. What a world of difference it would make today, including for Israel!

  9. #3 The people who are arguing for post birth abortions and also the people who oppose any use of force in self defense, they want to drastically reduce the population and will use any means to accomplish this goal.

#7 He probably is but doesn’t think we wills stand still for this.

#9 You are probably right, Obama is doing all he can to prevent Israel from attacking Iran, hopefully he won’t go to the extent of attacking any strike force Israel sends.
