Bubonic and other types of plague can be found in other American rodents, like groundhogs and prairie dogs. Occasional ‘outbreaks’ have been limited to infecting single individuals in the past. Nothing unusual. Way too early for conspiracy theories.

At least 39 people have been killed after two bombs exploded in a market in northern Pakistan, reports say.
The explosions took place in Parachinar, the main town of the Kurram tribal region, near the Afghan border.
The two blasts occurred close to two different mosques in the town, according to Reuters news agency.

From 1998 to 2001 many feminist groups had the temerity to criticize the Taliban’s treatment of women. I have not heard anything since then.
I guess it is all about having a fashionable cause to show you care. After 2001 it was more chic to criticize Bush, Cheney and going to war than to Taliban treatment of women.
