  1. Related to Ramadan?
.19 children die after eating school lunch in India

PATNA, India (AP) — Nineteen children have died and more are sick after eating free meals at a primary school in eastern India.

Bihar state official Amarjit Sinha says 28 children have been hospitalized in Patna, the state capital. Ten of them are in serious condition. The children are age 8 to 11.

They fell ill soon after eating meals in the school on Tuesday in Masrakh, a village 80 kilometers (50 miles) north of Patna.

The meal was cooked in the school kitchen.

P.K. Sahi, the state education minister, says a preliminary investigation suggests the food had traces of phosphorous, which is used to preserve rice and wheat.

Many state governments in India have launched midday meal programs for poor children. Malnutrition is one of the major health concerns among Indian children.

  2. Reports indicate the children consumed this meal @ mid-day, which is what triggers the ramadan link. Here’s more:
20 children die after eating mid-day meal in Bihar school

Patna: 20 children have died in Bihar, allegedly as a result of food-poisoning from the free mid-day meal provided at their school near Chhapra in the central part of the state, 60 kilometres from the state capital Patna. Most of them who died were younger than 10.

Another 35 children have been admitted to the Patna Medical College Hospital.

The mid-day meal caused severe food poisoning, “Nearly 50 students got very sick after eating the mid-day meal at home. By the time they were taken to PSC Mashrak, two children died. By the time they came to us, seven more children had died. We’re treating the children at the moment. Doctors found some foreign chemical matter present. The post-mortem of some of the children is complete. The doctors did their best to save the children, but there was so much poison in their food that the doctors couldn’t save them all,” said Abhijeet Sinha, Chapra’s District Magistrate.

Several hundred people surrounded the local police station on Tuesday evening demanding action against the school.

Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has ordered an inquiry and announced compensation of Rs. 2 lakh each to the families of the children who died.

Chhapra is the Lok Sabha constituency of former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, who said, “This is happening everywhere in Bihar. I will see who is responsible for this.”

The opposition BJP, which was dumped recently by the chief minister after a 17-year partnership, was quick to politicise the tragedy. “Such incidents did not happen even during Lalu Prasad’s government,” said BJP leader Giriraj Singh.

  3. 2/ The fact that Marines were even fined for pissing on the corpse of the enemy disgusts me. They should have been given medals.

  4. #3 At the blog Joe my God, they are or were very anti-military. They had a few regular posters who were in the military and no one ever hassled them. Nonetheless the site was very anti military. Any argument that came from the extreme left about how the military was too big or criminals was posted. If you tried to argue from a factual basis such as using the the Quadrennial Defense Review (QDR), they would simply not debate it. Not every military officer, enlisted or civilians employee is “right wing” (if a person wanted to use those specious 210 year old labels).
Now that DADT is gone all the sudden some of them know what the QDR is and they act like they have been cognizant of it forever.

One wonders if it is too little too late. With their one issue voting they have hamstrung American foreign policy and the American military.

So what are the LGBT going to do about this? To CAIR, other Muslims groups & Yemen they will do nothing. To social conservatives and Christians they will use this story with great glee and bash said groups using this story like a truncheon.

The LGBT groups still are so far left, that it gives the Democrats an edge. With the situation in the Middle East and Eurabia, I do not think it is safe for the LGBT crowd to go to a place like Sharm el Sheikh, Mediterranean beaches in Muslim countries (or south Europe) or Even Northern Europe. So I guess these 1 issue type are stuck on Caribbean cruises and Disney world. If they get cabin fever from being stuck in one hemisphere, well hey they had a lot to do in creating this situation.

  5. #2 Unless you have overwhelming force, you do not play by Marquess of Queensberry Rules rules.

BTW those rules were written in 1865 in London during the height of the Victorian era. If there is anything that liberals hate, it is the Pilgrims, the Victorians and the good times of the 1950s. But somehow they still want to play by those rules.

We do not have overwhelming force. If we did, we would have won by now.

  6. #1 Interesting development.

#2 You win wars by destroying the enemies will to resist, you don’t destroy the will to resist by being considerate of their feelings, culture and religion.
