1. Sixty missing and scores feared dead as runaway train carrying hundreds of tons of oil derails and explodes in fireball in Canadian town center

The center of a Quebec town has been wiped out, according to the mayor, after a runaway freight train carrying crude oil derailed and exploded in a fireball at 1am on Saturday.

About 30 buildings were destroyed and 60 people are believed to be missing, but the force of the fire has prevented rescue workers from searching for survivors.

Parts of the town were evacuated in the early hours as fireballs shot several metres in the air, flames spread to nearby homes and thick acrid smoke filled the air in Lac-Megantic, which is close to the Maine border and about 250km from Montreal.

2. Boeing 777 crashes at San Francisco International Airport

CNN) — A Boeing 777 operated by Asiana Airlines crashed while landing Saturday at San Francisco International Airport.

Flight 214 left Seoul’s Incheon International Airport earlier Saturday and flew 10 hours and 23 minutes to California, according to FlightAware, a website that offers tracking services for private and commercial air traffic.

Anthony Castorani, who witnessed the flight land from a nearby hotel, said he saw the plane touch the ground then noticed a larger plume of white smoke.

“You heard a pop and you immediately saw a large, brief fireball that came from underneath the aircraft,” he told CNN.

  1. And how do you ignite it? Diesel is hard to ignite even. As I understand it you can throw a lit cigarette into a barrel of diesel with no danger.

  2. Last season on Rocket City Rednecks there was an episode where they blew up a building using gas, they caused a small explosion to diperse the gas into droplets then ignited the droplets. The same way a cloud of flour will explode or grain dust in a grain elevator.
